After picking you up from you preferred location we travel through the coastal road of the Athenian Riviera. You will pass through beautiful landscapes, beaches and marinas.
Lake Vouliagmeni ("Sunken Lake") is an environmental gem- lake fed by underground currents seeping through the mass of Mount Hymettus located to the south of Vouliagmeni, Greece. The surrounding rocks and the green-turquoise water makes it an amazing lanscape. We stop for quick photos with the lake in the background.
After traveling for a few kilometres through the South Coast and the Athenian Riviera, you will be bedazzled by the famous landscapes which surround Sounion. Sounion (or Sunium) was an important ancient Greek religious sanctuary dedicated to the gods Poseidon and Athena. Spectacularly located on a promontory in southern Attica, the site is dominated by the temple of Poseidon perched 70 meters above the sea on the cliff edge. Sounion is the setting for several episodes in Greek mythology, and is specifically mentioned as a place of religious significance in Homer’s Odyssey. In some myths, this is also the spot where the Athenian king Aegeus threw himself into the sea in despair upon having sighted the black sail of his son Theseus’ ship returning from Crete after his battle with the Minotaur.
The ancient Greek temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, built during 444–440 BC, is one of the major monuments of the Golden Age of Athens. A Doric temple, it overlooks the sea at the end of Cape Sounion, at a height of almost 60 metres (200 ft).
After walking around the Cape Sounion and admiring the Temple of Poseidon you will enjoy one of the most magnificent sunsets of your lifetime.
Nice drive through a nice area outside of Greece. Seeing the temple of Poseidon at sunset was magical! Fotios was a wonderful guide. He answered our questions, provided clear instructions on where to sit to see the sunset, and how to easily get back to the van. My husband also lost his phone on the tour and Fotios went above abd beyond to get it back to us.
Tour was good. Had troubles with pick up. Original 3:00 was a no show. After I called Panos came at 4:00 and the trip was good.
simply, total false advertising. the 3.5 hour trip rushed trip is NOT even close to the 5 hour trip we bought. and with NO sunset. clearly the driver was not given the agenda. the trip would have been 3 hours if i had no spoken up. read the title of your trip!!! please refund our money. happy to chat about it. 1 3025980139
Not a good experience! The tour was reserved long in advance. The Tour Guide did not show up at hotel on time. Called the company and asked where the guide was. The lady said she did not know about any scheduled tour. She then said she would have to confirm with Viator (even though I had been charged) and hung up. I called back and was then told a ‘guide’ would be on the way. I got a text from the ‘guide’ Vasillis with “Vask Transfer Services” which is Not the tour company. Vasillis showed up 1/2 hour late at the hotel. He spoke very little English. This “guided tour” basically was a taxi service in a basic Mercedes van but at a hefty cost. We did get to the Temple of Poseidon in time for the sunset, but this was Not a Premium Experience. I am only giving two stars instead of one star because Vasillis did a good job driving when the tour company had apparently dropped the ball. I would not recommend this company.
Over rated. Going at sunset was a mistake. The amount of passengers on tour buses overwhelms the cite. It would have wiser to visit the temple during day and view the sunset from a different location.
Definitely one of the most unique sunsets I’ve ever seen. Our driver, Costas, picked us up in Athens and took us along the Greek Riviera on the way to Cape Sounion and the Temple of Poseidon. He had lots of good information to share and made the drive more personal by pointing out places along the way that he personally enjoys and recommends. The Riviera portion of the drive was interesting, although it did start to feel a little drawn out after a while. There was a lot of emphasis on the marinas, mega-yachts, and four- and five-star hotels along the coast, and by that point we were mostly ready to get to the temple for sunset. That said, the timing worked out very well. We arrived with plenty of time to grab a quick (if somewhat overpriced and touristy) meal before heading up to the Temple of Poseidon. The temple itself was quite crowded, but watching the sun set over the Aegean from there was absolutely spectacular and easily one of the most memorable sunsets we’ve experienced. Overall, Costas was friendly, knowledgeable, and personable, and the sunset at Cape Sounion made the trip well worth it.
The experience was beautiful. Alice was our lead guide and she was very sweet and charismatic. Initially I was not convinced about the 20 euro charge for the temple. But after I saw the sunset, it was totally worth it. I recommend getting there at 6:30 and getting a seat behind the temple. It does get crowded fast. Worth the journey.
One of the most beautiful spots in the world. Very surreal experience. Our guide Akis was fantastic a lot of great conversation and very proud Greece citizen. He told us a lot about the scenery, culture, and way of life here.

We had an amazing experience! The vehicle was a comfortable white Mercedes with air conditioning, making the journey very enjoyable. Our driver was excellent and even offered us a complimentary beer at the Temple, which was a lovely surprise. The audio guide was also very informative and enhanced the experience. The only suggestion for improvement would be to include a beach stop in the itinerary or let guests know in advance if one is available. Other than that, everything was perfect. Thank you very much! We would happily recommend this tour.

The driver never showed up, and when we contacted the company, they could not find our reservation even under the reservation number provided. This was supposed to be a private tour for four, and ended up being a cruddy tour on a bus with 50 other people where the four of us could not even sit together. Very frustrating. Company barely refunded any money. Terrible experience
Absolutely scammy operator. They sent a beaten up little Skoda Octavia yellow cab with prominent smoke stains and clearly a local cab driver, and mentioned that the promised private minivan was broken. When Viator contacted them, they mentioned that they sent a "limo" car. Avoid this tour at all costs.
Easy to book on the website. Several pick-up points in Athens. Everything was perfectly organized, no problems boarding the bus. We took the excursion to Cape Sounion and also to the Peloponnese. The guides were professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly. Highly recommended at a very competitive price.

Very professional driver, Vassilis, arrived on time, drove very well, we stopped at Stavros Niarchos roof top park, lake vouliagmeni, a scenic viewpoint and finally cape Sounion. He gave us tips on how to get around and was there at the entrance when we were ready to leave. Tip- the gates close 20 minutes before sunset- we almost missed going up because we sat down at the cafe for snacks and drinks.
Lovely experience to watch the sun set around the Temple of Poseidon. Great driver! Shame the Lake was not open so missed the falls, but lovely evening never the less.
Terrible service. The first I knew was a message from my bank telling me that a deposit had been made. I then checked the amount versus all my expenditures and matched the 2. I then figured out that the tour had been cancelled. Too late to find anything else. An hour and a half later, I received an email from the supplier saying that the trip was cancelled with no explanation. No other option was offered - just that we had been refunded.
This is a great evening tour. Your tour to Athens is not complete, without the sunset view from Temple of Poseidon. Nice Mercedes mini bus was provided for 4 of us and our driver Mr. Fotois made this tour interesting with his tour guidance.
Costas was a brilliant guide, kind, attentive and full of knowledge about the Athen Riviera. We stopped at a number of places and took some brilliant pictures. Couldn’t recommend more! The sunset at the Temple of Poseidon was truly breath-taking!

This was one of our favorite tours. Our driver Kostas was fantastic. He was on time, considerate, friendly and knowledgeable. We felt very safe on this tour as it is a lot of driving and stopping at various sites. Because I booked this a little too early our guide contacted us ahead of time to reschedule so that we made sure to be at the Temple of Poseidon at the right time to grab a bite to eat, walk around, get pictures and then get settled for the incredible sunset. I highly recommend this tour!
Fotios was an amazing guide. Very knowledgeable, helpful, patient and got us there right before the buses of huge crowds started to arrive. He shared the legend behind the temple and it gave us a great perspective as we took our time admiring the scenery without having to wait our turns for photo ops.

Kostas was prompt, friendly, polite and very informative for our subset tour to Poseidon. Nothing was too much trouble, the Mercedes van was very comfy and air conditioned. Kostas gave us a lot of information on the journey and even stopped to let us have an impromptu dinner overlooking the sea. Highly recommend Kostas and his team. We have been back to Greece and have found the team extremely helpful. We have used them numerous times foe all our trips and we were very happy.

We had an amazing experience with this tour .. our driver and guide Marinos was very helpful and informative which added to the overall awesomeness!! the temple of Poseidon set on top of a hill with the Aegean Sea around for miles makes for a stunning location… the climb is not difficult .. you can sit on the rocks and soak in history and nature in a very serene atmosphere.. highly recommend this.. (if u have nausea from winding drives, it might affect your system)
This was a great tour! The drive down along the shore was comfortable and very scenic. Our guide, Charalampos was very knowledgeable and friendly. He provided great information, even my 8 year old daughter learned so much. Definitely recommend this on your trip to Athens!
My review is referenced to the Cape Sounio Tour, which was very well organized and farely priced, especially if you have children or teenagers with you (oher vendors charge them fully). Our guide, Charalampos/Charis, had a huge knowledge about history and was willing to answer all the questions you may have in mind. He took care a lot and gave us valuable information about buying tickets and where to be at which time for the sunset to get out the most of this trip. So thanks again! Peter, Switzerland
Best time ever with George. Took us to a fabulous restaurant by the sea for fresh fish! George was friendly, knowledgeable, and was present when we needed him, and disappeared when we didnt. Enjoyed trading stories of daring dos and life in Greece. Very flexible when we pulled an audible to get dinner after buying tickets so we didn’t have to sit around at Poseidon temple. George and I are such good friends now he told me he’d pay for my seaside villa near Athens. Amazing! I’m also appreciative of the fact he’s going to also buy me a yacht for sailing around the coast! I bought my ticket at the Acropolis stop with Irini, and she is really sweet: she not only helped me choose the activities the company 'Sights of Athens' offers, but she also became a great friend. I strongly recommend talking to her if you come to Athens, especially if you are traveling by yourself (like me), she's very caring and helped me a lot. The tour to Poseidon's Temple is unforgettably magical! The place is fantastic and the sunset makes it even more divine! With the help of Irini, I also went to Delphi and decided to buy the hop on hop off bus ride, which was very fun! Moreover, Dimitris was the one who guided the Delphi and Poseidon tour, and he is extremely friendly and fun! I had the best time!

Absolutely AMAZING tour! Called when we arrived at our hotel in Athens, we were very fortunate they had availability that afternoon, went out with the wonderful Tasos, and had an unbelievable time! We were so impressed we scheduled a private city tour the next day! He picked us up in a Mercedes and zipped us around the city, to all the major sites, at our leisure! We also scheduled our return shuttle to the airport with them! Same price as a cab, no waiting, not rushed, and a vehicle big enough for all of our luggage! We didn’t have to sit in the back seat with two bags like we did on our way to our hotel :-)! And by the way, they picked us up at 3 am for our flight, the van was waiting for us at 2:45! 10 stars from me, would hire them again without hesitation!!

We had a wonderful afternoon! The driver took us to beautiful places. He stopped whenever we wanted to take pictures. We had plenty of time to see Poseidon Temple before the other buses arrived. We were able to eat quietly while watching the sunset. I really recommend this activity.

We hired this private tour and it couldn't be better. And all thanks to the guide, Giorgios, a tremendously friendly, friendly, professional and very involved in making the tour a great experience. To begin with, he arrived very punctual to the pickup and was already very attentive from that moment. He took us (4 people) in a very comfortable Mercedes with very good air conditioning. During the trip, both through the audio guide in Spanish as he explained everything he could (in English) made the journey a very pleasant experience. We were unable to reach the Temple of Poseidon because one of the many serious fires raging in Greece affected the area and the road was closed. Because it could not be reached and forced to turn around, Giorgios took us to a very pleasant beach bar where we enjoyed some fresh drinks and from there, on foot of the beach we enjoyed the sunset. On the way back, we stopped to visit a famous and spectacular lake. Despite not having been able to complete the tour with the visit to the aforementioned temple, for reasons beyond the control of the guide, he made us spend a pleasant afternoon in his company and undoubtedly, thanks to him, he would rehire any tour.
