The Acropolis of Athens is the most important ancient monument in Greece and a symbol of classical civilization. The site has been inhabited since prehistoric times, but it reached its peak during the 5th century BC, the Golden Age of Athens under the leadership of Pericles. After the Persian destruction of Athens in 480 BC, a massive rebuilding program was launched, resulting in the construction of the monuments we see today. The most famous building on the Acropolis is the Parthenon, a temple dedicated to the goddess Athena Parthenos, protector of the city. It was designed by the architects Iktinos and Kallikrates, with sculptures supervised by Phidias. Other important monuments include the Erechtheion, famous for its Caryatids, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the monumental entrance known as the Propylaea. Today, the Acropolis is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most visited archaeological sites in the world, representing the cultural and historical legacy of ancient Greece.

Glyfada is a suburb in South Athens located in the Athens Riviera. It is situated in the southern parts of Athens' urban area. The area stretches from the foot of the Hymettus mountain to the Saronic Gulf. It is the largest of Athens' southern suburbs.
Voula is a southern suburb of Athens.
If the option "Without food" is selected, during our return to the city of Athens, we will stop at one of the most idyllic places. Vouliagmeni Lake, in the heart of the Athenian Riviera, is the hidden treasure of Attica's nature. Lake Vouliagmeni ("Sunken Lake") is a small brackish-water lake fed by underground currents seeping through the mass of Mount Hymettus located to the south of Vouliagmeni.
Anavyssos is a town and a former municipality in East Attica.
Cape Sounion is the promontory at the southernmost tip of the Attic peninsula, 8 kilometers (5.0 mi) south of the town of Lavrio (ancient Thoricus), and 70 kilometers (43 mi) southeast of Athens. It is part of Lavreotiki municipality, East Attica. It is 59.6 km away from Athens. Cape Sounion is noted for its Temple of Poseidon, one of the major monuments of the Golden Age of Athens. Its remains are perched on the headland, surrounded on three sides by the sea.
The ancient Greek temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, built during 444–440 BC, is one of the major monuments of the Golden Age of Athens. A Doric temple, overlooks the sea at the end of Cape Sounion, at a height of almost 60 meters (200 ft).
**Optional Lunch Stop in Sounio:** Enjoy a relaxing lunch at a traditional Greek taverna overlooking the Aegean Sea. Your driver can recommend a local restaurant based on your preferences. **Lunch is not included in the tour price and is paid directly by guests.**

Great experience outside of the city. Our driver was knowledgeable and entertaining. The stop at the lake was great. The sunset was disappointing, would recommend seeing midday.
Had a fun trip with friends. Our driver was friendly and a good driver :o). I would suggest that you ask what stops will be made prior to the trip and decide if you want to bypass them. We could have skipped one stop to have more time swimming after dinner and before heading up to see sunset. Dinner can take a while (and worth it- very delicious). The entry line is long so maybe purchase tickets ahead of time. The sunset was gorgeous! If you are female- go to the bathroom before sunset or you will be waiting in line to go. No line for men’s toilets so women finally started using both bathrooms. We are glad we did this outing.
Scenic route along the coast abs relaxing half day tour. You can do everything in your own pace. We had two elderly with us and it is fine for them. They can also sit at the cafe if they cannot climb the slope. Admissions fee was 20 euro per person. Experience with the sunset was nice. Opportunity to click pictures or just enjoy the view. It was not so crowded on June 19th. The staff was nice. Since it is private tour in the way back you can make a stop if you are hungry or something. Theodor was very friendly and nice. He gave some details along the way. If you want the full guided experience you should hire a licensed guide. But it is much more expensive. If you are okay with the basic details then driver guide is fine. The pricing from yomadic was good value for money and cheaper than alternatives.
This was an amazing day. Honestly, we didnt expect it to be so amazing after seeing almost all of Greece that you can see. But, the views are in fact amazing. The temple is a quick and easy site visit, while the thermal lake at Voulegmeni, was such a fun and relaxing day. The water is beautiful, perfect temperature, and well maintained with trash rules and sun screen rules. I especially enjoyed the little fish taking care of my feet! I should also mention how well the Chris our driver took care of us. He is very knowledgeable about all things Greece and all things history. He is even well versed in how it all fits together with the rest of the world both ancient history and mythology. He is always easy to get ahold of and makes sure that you are happy! We made sure to request Chris for every trip we took!
We loved our trip to The Temple of Poseidon, just outside the city of Athens. Our driver spoke very good English, answered all of our questions and narrated just enough! At the end of our tour, he allowed us to stop and eat at a local restaurant that was amazing… fresh fish that had just been caught. The van was large, comfortable and very clean. I highly recommend this company, tour, and ask for the driver by the name of Theodore. He was fantastic and made our trip so nice.
Theo was a FANTASTIC tour driver and very knowledgeable about the areas. He was witty and spoke wonderful English. In addition to a fantastic trip through the Athenian Riviera to the Temple of Poseidon, he was kind enough to take us to a wonderful seaside cafe for a fabulous dinner of fresh sea bass, wonderful hosts and a beautiful sunset at Four Brothers. 100% recommend this adventure! Ask for Theodore!
Alex was an amazing driver and host in the trip! Would highly recommend.
Great time on the trip to Cape Sounion! Alex and Alexander were amazing and we were so happy for another lovely trip with them. They are great for families and even let the kids DJ on the drive haha! It was a curvy ride, so you if get motion sickness- let them know! Very comfortable and beautiful drive out otherwise. They will help you to get comfortable. The price to get into the cape Sounion is worth it. The views are amazing! We also had a nice spot for sunset. Thank you again!
The trip exceeded our expectations despite the fact we did not make it to the temple which was closed earlier. Our guide Christos filled the time with Greek mythology stories which we loved and stopped several times to show us interesting spots.
Chris is the best! He spent all day with us driving us around and showing us the beautiful coast and then finishing our trip with the sunset at Poseidon’s Temple. He was friendly, funny, knowledgeable, and a great tour guide. Highly recommended
First, our driver was great. He drove expertly through Athens streets. He was also very friendly. We knew we would get a private car, but were not expecting a taxi. It was comfortable, clean and had plenty of room. We went to the lake first, and when we got there, we found that the entry fee to the lake was 19 euro each. We are not cheap, but 38 euro for a few minutes of picture taking seemed too expensive. After that we went to the temple of Poseiden which we found very interesting and liked a. Lot. After we were done, we went back to the taxi and he asked us if we were ready to go back to the hotel. We said that we chose the option to have lunch (close to $70 more than without). He didn't know anything about it. Didn't know where we were supposed to go or anything. But, being the nice and polite driver he was, he called his place of business and they didn't know anything about it either and said it would cost extra because we were only scheduled so much time with the driver and they would have to charge another 30 minutes or so. Not the drivers fault, but Viator and the company they hired should get all the details. I think we should be reimbursed for the $70 we paid for the lunch we did not get. .
Our driver Dimetri met us on time at our hotel. He was very knowledgeable in Greek history and legend. He was very personable and easy to talk to. The views from the Temple of Poseidon were amazing. On our way back to Athens, we stopped at a waterside restaurant and had a fantastic lunch of fresh seafood
The tour with Chris was fantastic! He knew lots of information and shared that with us. We especially love the Greek mythology lore! The car was comfortable and the restaurant he recommended was delicious. Thanks for a great tour.
Andreas was amazing! We had a wonderful, informative evening with him, showing all the beautiful sea scapes on the way to Poseidon Temple. Andreas speaks incredible English. He made us feel like we knew him for years.
A truly wonderful trip to the Poseidon Temple in Sounion with Costas. We stopped also at Lake Vouliagmeni, got fine, detailed info about its origins, travelled along the Athenien Riviera, an overall great trip with a well informed, kind and accommodating guide, Costas whom we can highly recommend...
Christos was absolutely amazing!! He told us so many funny stories, shared hilarious versions of myths, stopped whenever we saw something cool (which was a lot - beaches, a beautiful little church, big rocks and tide pools), and managed to get the best parking spots everywhere. The Temple of Posideon was breathtaking. So calm and majestic after being in the bustling tourist areas, and the sunset is a definite must see. But the crown jewel of the trip was the restaurant Christos took us to for dinner - it was his favorite place to eat, and as foodies, we were blown away. The service and food was plentiful, tasty beyond belief and we ended the meal with laughter, so much wine, more stories and a completely stuffed 16 year old (which is no easy feat!). I could've eaten an entire bathtub full of the tzatziki!!! Thank you, Christos, for the amazing journey and experience - we'll never forget it :) :) 1000 stars.
We had a nice trip to see the sunset with Costos. He was friendly, punctual, and professional. We had no issues with our trip with Costos as our driver.
Absolute beautiful visit! Haven't visited the ocean in years and this place brought back so many memories while making alot more. Water was clear, the Transportation was simple, and the driver knows there history very well and friendly. Would recommend 100%
Timing was off for this activity. Even though Andreas, the assigned driver, arrived 20 mins earlier to pick up, it was not informed to me by the app GetYourGuide / provider to recommend an earlier start time. It was not the fault of the driver, as he has tried his very best to send me to Temple of Poseidon before sunset. But it was too late and I was not able to visit/see the sunset from the location. They should have updated the activity time in accordance to the time of sunset. A bit disappointed as I really wanted to visit the site at sunset. By the time I arrived, all the other tourists had started descending from the site 😔
Our guide was excellent and we had a wonderful memorable experience! The temple was gorgeous. Wish it had included the 10 euros to enter the grounds vs standing inline.
Michael was an excellent guide. His quizzing us allowed us to dig deeper into the history of the area. Beautiful ride out to the site. It was a perfect trip for just off the plane and fighting jet lag.
The drive is along the coast which is beautiful. THe temple was lovely but after the Parthenon not as spectacular. The sunset was lovely but it was cold. I recommend you take a jacket with you, We were there in April and the weather can be cooler than expected.
Unfortunatley, when we got to Cape Sounion the road was closed due the the Olympic Torch expected to pass through. We got a view of the temple, but never got into the grounds. But Andreas was an amazing guy and gave us a great history of Greece today and the ancient times. The drive along the way to get there was very beautiful. Instead, we went to a very nice café on the water and we shared a coffee and stories with Andreas.
I enjoyed this trip so much! My driver, Costas, was amazing. He made the trip feel so personal, and was so friendly! I highly recommend it to anyone! Thank you again, Costas!
For our final day in Athens last July we wanted to end our trip with an unrushed drive to Cape Sounion to visit the Temple of Poseidon and make a few stops along the way. We have travelled this route previously and had a few destinations in mind and let our driver Dimitris Stavrakis know we would also like to visit some new places along the way that may be of interest. Dimitris was both friendly and informative and introduced us to Lake Vouliagmeni that we hope to visit again this year. We stopped at the Temple of Poseidon to soak in the history and spectacular views and on our return we visited a favourite restaurant for a relaxed lunch at The 4 Brothers Tavern. This was a perfect way to end another perfect vacation in Greece and we look forward to using Yomadic Tours and will hopefully see Dimitris again.
This is the second tour we booked with Andreas! He is so knowledgeable and explains anything we have questions about! He also got out and took the photos for me so both my grandmother and I could be in them with the full scenery! Not only does he have other tours, but he will work with your schedule to make sure you get wherever you need to go on time!
Phenomenal excursion with Andreas to Temple of Poseidon on the sea! It’s an easy drive from Athens. Andreas is very knowledgeable about the area and site and had ample time to explore. Stunning views of the sea! We did a morning excursion rather than Sunset and worth every minute!
This is a long journey 2 hour plus from central Athens which was very enjoyable in a private transfer. The driver was courteous and friendly. The views are stunning and watching the sunset was breathtaking . The driver didn’t rush us and we could take our time at the temple of Poseidon. Bonus was a drop off for an evening meal at a fish bar overlooking the sea. Well worth paying extra for a private transfer I would recommend
Amazing experience! Our driver was superb! He was personable, very nice, and made us feel cared for. The Poseidon sunset was incredible. After the sunset, he brought us to a lovely restaurant by the water and ate delicious food. Beautiful memories! He left a lasting impression.
Such an excellent day trip and host. Andreas expertly narrated the sites and timed everything perfectly to avoid all tourists .. 0 humans at the temple of Poseidon ♥️ .. we really enjoyed the Parthenon and the up close presentation of the Greek guards. Andreas is just great!
Andreas was incredibly professional and knowledgeable. He arrived promptly and was a wealth of knowledge on Athenian sites and history. We highly recommend his services and only regret we didn’t have time to book the Biblical Tour as well!
This was such a great experience. Not only was it a wealth of knowledge but it was great conversation, fun and tons of laughter. Also very kind helped us plan our next day which was super epic. We definitely recommend and will utilize their service when we come back.
100% recommend. We have amazing pictures and most importantly, learned so much. Very happy we decided to do this tour. The scenery, the food, the history.
Our driver picked us up on time! Very warm, very helpful. He offered drinks and he showed us the hidden gems of our way to the Temple. Without any rush he was waiting for the pictures in every sight! Lovely Luxury Mercedes made our trip an unforgettable experience
Actually we didn’t have a clue about this tour. The Athenian Riviera was terrific. Manos explained everything about Poseidon and gave a unique color to all our trip.
Excellent experience with Dimitris. Pickup and ride were perfect. Very good attention and guidance along the way.
