The Academy's main building is one of the major landmarks of Athens. The building was designed as part of an architectural "trilogy" in 1859 by the Danish architect Theophil Hansen, along with the University and the National Library.

During our visit to Greece in September and October 2025, we had several days at the start and at the end of our trip. So, we decided to see as much as possible and we did a quick research. We then used Athens Taxi Wagon, and it turned out to be a correct decision. On the first day we went on a city tour opting for a licensed guide. The entire day was wonderful. The guide shared interesting facts about history and culture. We had smooth access to the main attractions. Our driver, Alexis, mentioned that while he also knows the history well, Greek regulations do not allow drivers to guide inside sites. We appreciated the clarity. After that first day, Alexis continued with us for the rest of our travels, and very quickly he became much more than just a driver. He truly felt like a friend. He took us to Meteora, which is absolutely unforgettable, and along the way he stopped at special places we never would have found on our own. We saw beautiful countryside, charming towns, and viewpoints that made the journey just as memorable as the destinations. Without Athens Taxi Wagon, we would never have experienced Greece in this way or met someone like Alexis who added so much warmth, insight, and care to our trip. They also arranged our final transfer back to Athens, which was seamless and stress free. We genuinely recommend Athens Taxi Wagon not only for city tours, but also for longer trips throughout Greece. It was far better than renting a car, and the personal touch made all the difference.

The taxi driver was so sweet and curtious. He made sure we were comfortable and took great care that we saw all the highlights of the city. To top it off, he took us to a fabulous restaurant for lunch and ordered us our meal since we didn't speak Greek. We couldn't have seen all the highlights of the city without his guidance. On our first family trip to Greece I was worried about navigating the city with a small child. Alexi, and his team made it super easy, and comfortable for us. He took us to all the popular sites and gave us tips on how to navigate around the thousands of tourist trying to visit the same places. He took great care of us, and even catered to our 6 year old. Absolutely AMAZING! Such knowledgeable and kind driver. Drove our Family of 5 in a luxurious leather seated huge van. Air-conditioning was icy cold. Stopped at all the sights, showed us where to get the best photos. Even took family photos of us in front of the sights. Then on another day too us and all our luggage to/from the port/train station. Beautiful luxurious vans & lovely drivers. Highly recommended
Visited Athens with my family (2 teens, mother and husband) and so very glad we booked this private tour. We only had 2 full days in Athens and were able to visit all the important sites by booking this tour. Given it was during the heat wave, having an AC large van really helped!! The tour guide was very friendly and gave us all kids of information about the areas (stuff you cannot read in books) and it was always waiting for us when we were finished our tours (Acropolis and the museum for example). We felt very safe and he took us to areas that we otherwise would not have visited. Highly recommend. We also booked them to pick us up at the ferry upon our arrival and to take us to the airport. As there were 5 of us it was much more economical to take a van than 2 cabs.
Alex is right on time to pick us up from the cruise terminal very friendly, very informative took us to all the great sites in Athens took us for a wonderful lunch, where the locals eat he was very patient with us. We have some physical issues. we could not recommend him more highly.

My sister and I traveled to Greece and Turkey August 2022 & we used Alexis as our taxi several times to take us & pick us up to Ports, airports & places we stayed in. I was so impressed by how nice, helpful, protective & caring Alexis was, he instantly made us feel at ease. He was always on time & his nice Mercedes was spotlessly clean, very comfortable & offer us bottle water. Before he started driving he will ask us to make sure not to forget anything & if we had our passports with us. When we got to the Piraeus port he parked his taxi to go stand in line with us and make sure we got our tickets & walked us across the street to the ferry before he left. He will always make sure we were in the right place & waited until we safely were inside our place, port & airport. He made us feel safe at all times! He was very helpful, knowledgeable and informative guide willingly offering all sorts of good local places & history. I felt like we were riding with a good friend that made us laugh & truly enjoyed his company & our rides with him. We definitely will use his services again. I highly recommend Alexis!!

Alexis was a savior for our trip to Athens. With so many options for tourists, Alexis helped us navigate through the choices and was there every step of the way to make our experiences wonderful and memorable. We were fortunate enough to stumble upon him on the internet when booking a ride from Piraeus to our Airbnb. He immediately became a trusted friend by showing us points of interest along the way. He even stopped for a chance to take photos and seemed as though we were his only customers. We made arrangements that first day to go to Ancient Corinth. We used his service for trips to the Archeolgy Museum, to go to the Acropolis and to go to Roman Catholic Mass on the Sunday before we left. Alexis arranged for us to get our Covid 19 test before we headed home to the States. If we asked a question about a restaurant, not only could he make a recommendation, but got us the best table in the house. If you are in Athens you would be missing out on a vast amount of knowlege and services by using any other transfer service. We only hailed a taxi once instaed of calling Alexis and we were both starkly reminded of what a difference there was between Athens Taxi Wagon and the rest. I would hope that on my next visit to Athens that I can use Athens Taxi Wagon exclusively for all of my travel needs. My husband and I can highly recommend Alexis and his drivers for a quality experience.
