Itinerary
Following a hotel pick-up, your first stop will be at the Panathinaikos Stadium, cradle of the first modern Olympic games, which took place in 1896.
Pass by the Greek Parliament in the former Royal Palace of Syntagma Square and watch the fanciful Evzoni Guards in their amber tunics. Continue to the stately Zappion Conference Center in the National Gardens of Greece. Proceed pass the Roman Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian's Arc and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, guarded by more Evzones. You will pass the handsome Numismatic Museum at Schlieman's House, the Catholic Cathedral, Athens Neoclassical trilogy and finally the Acropolis (view also of Areopagus and theater of Dionysus), where you will visit the monumental marble gates of the Propylaea, the Temples of Athena Nike and Parthenon. See the famous Porch of Maidens at the Erectheion.
Continue with a pleasant short walk past Herodion and Dionysos Theater, in order to visit the daring new Acropolis Museum. Home to a multitude of archaeological finds from the Acropolis, major attractions include votives, artifacts of everyday life, archaic statues, Caryatids and the Parthenon hall with displays from the pediments, the metopes and the frieze.

We had such a great time doing this tour! Our tour guide Sophia was so knowledgeable and really went above and beyond to accommodate my mom who was a little slower since she had a broken toe! It was amazing and I couldn’t have been happier! Having a private guide really gives you a personal experience and you get to enjoy the acropolis way more! I would most definitely recommend!
Demetrius was the best! He was so knowledgeable and shared so much history and knowledge with us. Demetrius and the driver both went out of their way to assist when 2 in the group overdid it and needed assistance getting back to the car.
Anna was fantastic. She assured that she met the needs of every member of our party. She even kept us entertained during the long wait at the Acropolis. Our driver Leo also went the extra mile to satisfy our needs. Highly recommended
Pickup as scheduled. Christine (guide) and Harry (driver) were personable and accommodating, adjusting pace to suit the group. Christine was very knowledgeable and presented information in a relatable, engaging way. Because a private tour, we were able to change out one stop on the itinerary for a drive to the highest point in Athens where we enjoyed a spectacular panoramic view of the City. A memorable experience, well worth the money. Highly recommend.
Our guide, Anna, and driver, Chris, were both wonderful! Having a private tour is well worth the cost. We were picked up and returned to our hotel. One of us has difficulty walking and they made it easy for us to see everything up close and at our pace. Anna’s clear explanations and stories taught us so much. The views were spectacular. We had a memorable day. Thank you, Anna and Chris.
Very good experience. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and was able to walk us all over and give us rare insights we would never have known about. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a truly impressive tour that will give you every detail that you’d want to know!
Our tour guide Christina was smart, friendly and knowledgeable. Our driver and van were also both top notch. In a word, the tour was outstanding!
If I could give this tour 10 stars I would. Having a guide at the Acropolis with the kind of knowledge Stevie had is invaluable!
Joanna was an excellent guide-very knowledgeable historian and very nice. Harris was equally a professional driver and gentleman. Our family enjoyed the tour of Athens
Anna and Melina were exceptionally great tour guides! We were a group of 34 people but they made everything go smoothly. Highly recommend them and the Half Day Athens Tour if you only have two days in Athens.
We really enjoyed this tour. The guide took us to the major spots to see in Athens, and was flexible to take us to a place not on the normal tour (to replace a site we had visited on our own the day before). The Acropolis tour was great. Our guide was very knowledgeable about Athens...current and historical. Plus, she was able to help us avoid the long (and very inefficient line) for tickets at the Acropolis (that was almost worth the higher fee for the private tour).
Athens was the first leg of our Europe vacation and we only had a couple days to sightsee so I figured trying a half day tour would be nice and it would still give us time to explore ourselves. I would recommend to everyone having a private or small group tour as it is so much more intimate and we didn’t have to wait on the big lines. Martina was our guide and she was wonderful! So knowledgeable about every stop along the way and open to stopping if we wanted pictures or to see more. She took very good care of us and showed care and passion for the sites. We were open to what the tour had to offer and so that made it more fun and interesting. They picked us up at our hotel at the scheduled time in a nice air conditioned vehicle, and the tour was driving and seeing sights as well as stopping to learn along the way ending with the Acropolis Museum. We both love history and this tour hit a lot of the markers! Half day that is what is expected. Although we didn’t go into the Panathenaic Stadium, it was a great stop along the way. Of course the the Parthenon and Acropolis Museum were the highlight. We had the opportunity to see the changing of the guard the day before on our own so we did not feel bad about not getting out at that stop. Although we struggled with large crowds and some other rude tourists, she made sure we saw and learned as much as possible while there. I wish we would have had more time at the museum but it gives us a reason to go back! To me there were no illusions and the tour was what they said it was! I unfortunately forgot our drivers name and feel bad but he was also very knowledgeable and made the experience very nice. Would do the tour again!
We started with our pickup at the hotel in downtown Athens. Before heading to the Acropolis we visited the tomb of the unknown soldier and witnessed the changing of the guard. After that we hit the Acropolis and museum extensively and in depth. Our guide Stravos was with us the entire session, explaining and describing as well as answering all of our questions with patience and detail. We highly recommend this tour, particularly Stravos. Thanks again, Viator.
Our tour guide was smart enough to contact us the day before to ask if we could start the tour one hour early to avoid the crowds from cruises. It made a big difference in therms of how long we had to wait to get on the path up to the acropolis. Definitely recommend getting a tour guide with the driver for a more detailed description of what you are seeing,
Back to back with a 4 Day Classisical Tour this half day sightseeing Tour, including the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum didn't measure up! Key Tours Guide Maria was 20 minutes late. Okay, that might not have been her fault BUT when she did get there and started with the City Tour we couldn't hear her and even when she was told she would not use the microphone! We were not the none the wiser of some of the things we were looking at! Unfortunately neither her knowledge nor commentary matched what we had enjoyed on the Classical Tour. Her voice didn't project and she kept touring her head so what she was saying was partly lost. I got the impression she was rushing the tour to make up time! One last thing, I didn't get the impression she had the best interests of the group at heart. Her instructions were lacks given the thousands upon thousands up visiting the Acropolis. Very disappointing...we gave it away without visiting the Museum!

Very poor service and attitude of the company and tour.

Another great tour booked through Viator. Thanks!

Ruli, our guide was extremely knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Ruli explained the history of the Acropolis as well as the temples. I would recommend this tour to anyone. There is a lot of walking on uneven terrain.

Thank you to our guide, Costas, who was wonderful. He held our hands when we needed extra help and was a wealth of information.

Absolutely fabulous. Our tour guide, Emma, spoke perfect English and was an excellent, excellent tour guide. We firmly believe that we would not have appreciated and enjoyed Athens without her.

The tour is advertised as customizable but that is not really what happened. bottom line is that the Old Stadium tour is just a view from the front. You really don't go in. We did not get to watch the Greek Guards and were told we would come back but that was not the case as we ran out of time. The tour guide was good but if we did not ask we would have gone without a snack for 5 hours. Really!!!
I paid over 400 for a great tour and only got a good tour. Disappointing!

This tour was wonderful! Only 4 of us went on this tour and that provided us with one-to-one attention from our tour guide Agatha. She was attentive and very knowledgeable about Athens. She was able to answer all our questions. She took great care to make sure that we were able to handle the walking up and back down from the Parthenon. Her knowledge in the New Acropolis Museum was so helpful and informative - we learned so much! After doing tours of 25-50 people, then this private tour - it was SO very much worth the money!

Excellent tour! Can't say enough about how satisfied our entire group of 12 people was with this tour. Driver picked us up at our hotel at 4 pm and guide was smart to have us visit sites throughout the city -- mostly in air conditioned bus -- first so we avoided the crowds and heat at the Acropolis. We still had plenty of time to visit Mars hill and Acropolis. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Our group included my 83 year old mother who was worried about the walking, steps, etc but guide was great at stopping at various locations to talk about the history, etc. At the end, we arrived late to the Acropolis Museum so could not go in but our guide quickly rec'd approval to take us by bus to Lykavittos Hill highest hill in Athens just at sunset. What a view! We loved it more than museum! Highly recommend taking this tour late in the day to avoid heat and crowds.

Nothing is as you expect in Greece it seems:
- The tour is advertised as customizable. Seems not. Viator said the only way to customize it is to cancel and book a different tour
- The Panathinaikos Stadium tour isn't a tour. You stop in front. If you want to go in you pay extra and you're on your own
- 'watch the fanciful Evzoni Guards' - you aren't allowed to get off the bus therefore hard to see them behind the crowds from the street
- 'Continue with a pleasant short walk past Herodion and Dionysos Theater'. The theaters are somewhere up on the mountainside. The walk is along a road.

All up, the tour description is extremely colorful. Reality is mostly sitting in the bus driving past sites. Not worth the extravagant description and price.

Great tour to see all in the little time that we had. Our guide was wonderful and made sure that we were taken care of. He had a lot of information on the various places. In the end, we joined him for coffee which was a nice touch.

Our guide, Ruli, was fantastic. She made the tour come alive with stories from both Greek history and mythology. It was a very hot day and she set an appropriate pace, keeping us in the shade as much as possible. At the end, she made sure we were set up at a wonderful Greek restaurant for lunch. All in all, our expectations were far exceeded.

Great organization, definitely valid tour. Initially we were looking for a private tour in Italian but we found a nice surprise with an organized tour. Audio always understandable, in English. A special thanks to the talented Anastasia who has done well beyond the expected standard.
