We had a great tour to Delphi with Ancient Greece Tours. Our driver Yannis was wonderful. Very knowledgeable, experienced, and accommodating. Good English speaker and very entertaining. Well-versed in Greek history and geography. Drove a luxe Mercedes van that was extremely comfortable. Knew people in each local community we stopped at. OUr guide at Delphi was Sotoris (Soto), who was wonderful. Very passionate and knowledgeable about the history, religion, mythology, and archeology of Delphi and Greece in general. We learned a lot from him about Delpi's archeology and significance. Both he and Yannis were very helpful with my wife's mobility limitations. Afterward Yannis took us to a wonderful restaurant in Delphi where he knew the owners. Fantastic view and great food and good awareness of my gluten intolerance. In all a wonderful day at Delphi. Highly recommend.

Delphi formerly also called Pytho is famous for the ancient sanctuary that grew rich as the seat of Pythia, the oracle who was consulted about important decisions throughout the ancient classical world. The Greeks considered Delphi the navel or center of the world as represented by the stone monument known as the Omphalos of Delphi. Delphi archaeological site: A Unesco World Heritage Center, Delphi is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. The functions of the oracle grew over the centuries to include athletic games, cultural events, most importantly the Pythian games. The Temple of Apollo, the Ancient Theater, the Stadium, the Athenian Treasury, the Gymnasium, the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia are truly captivating.
Frieze of the Treasury of Sifnias Naxian Sphinx: 560 BC, one of the earliest representations in art of the demonic creature with a lion's body, bird's wings and a woman's head. Metopes of the Athenian Treasury: 5th century BC you will gaze upon Theseus and Antiope, Theseus and the Minotaur, Theseus and Marathonian bull, Heracles and the cattle of Geryon battling the three-bodied giant Geryon, Heracles subduing a Centaur & Cycnus, Heracles & the Nemean lion, & a Amazonomachy scene. Omphalos: Signifying the center of the earth & kept in Apollo's temple. Kleobis and Biton: Two brothers from Argos typical kouroi dating to the 7th century BC. Our driver, Yannis, was excellent. So professional, informative and helpful. Delphi and the museum (air conditioned) were very interesting but be prepared to walk uphill for over a half mile through the site on stairs and stones. It was especially taxing in the heat. The lunch/dinner was wonderful, delicious in a beautiful setting. We drove through Arachova but were too tired to shop. It was cute but nothing special. The reason I gave the tour 4 out of five stars was that the 2.5-3 hour drive from Athens wasn’t mentioned. I should have googled it! FYI, we’re women in our 60’s.
Tass was an amazing tour guide with so much knowledge of Ancient Greece, the region and Delphi. We had a great trip and highly recommend Tass and his company.
We were picked up from our hotel and driven to this site on the way the driver relegated us with details about Greece Delphi and Athens We saw the site on our own and he dropped us back
Fantastic experience with our private guide, Yannis. We had a nice clean car, well taken care of along the way. Yannis was also very knowledgeable in history and mythology so we had the context behind what we were about to see at each stop. The views were stunning and the itinerary was perfect. Our lunch stop was also wonderful. This was the best day of our whole trip hands down and I would highly recommend it. Delphi was gorgeous and absolutely worth the drive out as well. We went in December and had great weather as well. Special thanks to Yannis as we could not have had a better guide.
We started our adventure in Athens with a friendly welcome from our guide, Peter. He gave us an overview of the journey and what to expect as we headed out of town. We knew in advanced that the road to Thermopylae was blocked due ongoing farmers protests. Honestly we were ok with not going there because it gave us more time in Arachova and Delphi. But Peter still gave us a history of the area and provided a video. The best part of the trip was Peter gave us options for how to approach each destination. Arachova is a very interesting mountain village with traditional architecture, great coffee shops, and nice stores. We enjoyed walking the narrow streets that overlooked a breathtaking mountain range. We highly recommend stopping there. Delphi was excellent. We toured the museum and then hiked the entire archaeological site. Again this was breathtakingly beautiful and it was very interesting learning the history of the site (which Peter did a great job of explaining during the ride so we had context when starting at the museum.) Peter then took us to a nearby restaurant where we had lunch. The meal was absolutely delicious and the view from our table overlooked the Gulf of Corinth. It was such a nice way to end the trip. Highly recommend this tour with Peter - an amazing guide and kind person who made this adventure extra enjoyable.
Our trip to Delphi was outstanding and our tour guide and driver Yannis from Ancient Greece tours was very knowledgeable. He guided us through every step of the way and made sure we had an unforgettable experience
Excellent car and tour. Our driver Yannis was super knowledgeable and provided one of the best experiences for us. Unforgettable visit to Delphi
Three of us did the day trip to Delphi two days ago with our driver Tas, whose knowledge of the history and the area was great. He provided entertaining and informative insight into the cultural and historical significance of Delphi and surrounding areas. The museum was so good and Delphi site amazing. Late lunch at a fabulous restaurant capped off a wonderful day and our new friend Tas made it all happen so effortlessly. Would highly recommend Ancient Greece Tours and Transfers if you're spending time in Athens and would like a memorable day out with people who truly look after you.
Our private tour to Delphi was perfect. Peter is a professional and knowledgeable tour guide and driver , helping us explore the ancient town of Delphi. He is kind and friendly and very passionate. Highly recommend!
Great day out with Taz our driver. Fantastic archaeological site to see and learn more about. Great spot for lunch. Highly recommend this tour
It was an absolutely well done tour. We booked a private tour and Mr Peter was our chauffeur and guide in the tour. He is an amazing person who gave us lots of insights before we reached Delphi. A very charming person who made sure we had a lovely trip all the way. His knowledge is amazing not only on history but also about the neighbourhood. The lunch he took us to in Delphi is an absolute joy. I highly recommend this agency .
Great experience of Delphi and Arachova. I highly recommend this tour. Our Driver Yannis was amazing. We traveled with family with young children. Yannis took great care of us. He is a great story teller and my children loved his narration of Greek mythology and history. Hee was very kind and brought Greek cookies for us. He had umbrellas , water and booster seats as well. I highly recommend and ask for Yannis as your Driver.
We did a full-day tour from Athens to Delphi with Ancient Greece Tours & Transfers and had such a great experience. Our driver-guide (Tas) was super friendly, charismatic, and really knowledgeable—he made the drive interesting and even suggested an amazing spot for lunch that turned out to be one of our favorites from the whole trip. Along the way, we stopped at some beautiful panoramic viewpoints and visited the village of Arachova before exploring Delphi. We also arranged a licensed guide at Delphi (Georgia) through them (for an extra cost), and she was excellent—so passionate and full of knowledge. I came away from the day feeling like I truly understood the significance of this incredible site. It was one of the highlights of our time in Greece, and I’ll remember it for years to come. Highly recommend!
A wonderful day trip with Peter to Delphi. He was informative and gave his own story of migrating to Greece as well as the history and stories of where we were going. He made a mother/daughter traveling on own feel comfortable. He even answered my questions while at restaurant via text. I wasn’t sure if not eating everything served was disrespectful. He assured it was not. He even made extra stops to take beautiful photos. The scenery in Greece is unreal, no matter where you are. He sent us photos that he took as well to round out our album. Ask for Peter!!
Tas was wonderful. Courteous, friendly and informative. We highly recommend Tas. If you can choose a guide choose Tas.
Tas advised us to go later in the day, and he was so right. Our driver, Peter, was a great host. He answered all our questions, was very knowledgeable and was clear all day that we could go at our own pace. Lunch in Arachova was great. Great food and great view. And then of course— Delphi was amazing. And because of our later arrival, we were after the crowds. We had the museum practically to ourselves. And outside at the site the crowds were gone and the golden light and a beautiful breeze Was enchanting. The site is an amazing piece of history (that Peter filled us in on before we went). It was the center of the ancient world and now I know why.
Yannis, our guide was absolutely amazing and bought the sites to life! The sites were amazing and a must while visiting Greece.
Giannis was able to accommodate a last minute tour ! We just had an amazing day with commentary, knowledgeable guide and our safe driver Giannis! I highly recommend this tour with Giannis. He picked us up promptly from our Airbnb and drove us to Arachova, Delphi and Thermopylae ! We truly enjoyed the private tour and all the photo stops along the way … thank you Giannis ! We will see you again guaranteed !
We are a family of 5 (2 teens and a 7 yo) and reserved 2 trips with Tas from Ancient Greece Tours. The first day was to Delphi and Arachova and the 2nd day was to Ancient Corinth, Acrocorinth, Isthmus Canal, and the Temple of Hera. Tas was phenomenal! He was always prompt and picked us up both days with Greek cookies and biscuits. His Mercedes van was always very clean and well stocked with cold water for us. Tas has a wealth of knowledge about the history of Greece. My husband and I were asking him a lot of questions and our conversations expanded into present-day Greece, politics, culture, his background, and so forth. We had some great conversations! He is also very kind and patient never rushing us. He was always telling us to take our time and at several of the stops, we spent more time than expected. On our 2nd day of touring, what was to be a 9-hour tour ended up being 11 hours. Tas also made reservations at 2 fantastic restaurants in both Delphi and Ancient Corinth. Our lunch at Delphi was at To Patriko Mas which had a gorgeous veranda overlooking olive fields and the Gulf of Corinth/Athens Riviera. Lunch at our 2nd trip was at Taverna Gemelos which was next to Ancient Corinth so while we were dining on their rooftop veranda, we had the best view and felt like we were dining within Ancient Corinth. We highly recommend booking with Ancient Greek Tours - truly the best tour guide we've ever had. Tas has become a friend and we are already looking forward to planning a weeklong Peloponnese tour with him.
We had such a great time with Tas! He was kind and and fun to chat with. He gave us some information about the sights we visited but we would have loved to know more. It was also difficult for everyone in the car to hear him. Arachova was a huge highlight but we had to ask to stop and explore on the way home even though it was listed on the itinerary. I would NOT book this tour with a group of 8 because the front seat is VERY uncomfortable for that length of a drive. Our dinner was so delicious but one member of our group saw Tas was downing beers in the other room while we were eating. He did seem to be swerving a bit on the drive home which made all of us a bit nervous. We were also given 4 different pick up times and ended up waiting outside in the rain for 15 minutes to be picked up. Overall it was a fun day but there are definitely some improvements that could be made.
Very clean comfortable van. Driver was extremely nice and helpful. We enjoyed being able to tour at our own pace. Delphi was one of my favorite places we visited!
We really liked the experience, the views on the way to Delphi are beautiful especially from the Gulf of Corynto. Our guide and driver Yannis solved all our questions and was very friendly. The archaeological museum has a lot of history and is easy to get around. We travelled very comfortable in a Mercedes Benz. In total the experience was excellent!
Peter fue una gran compañía, pasamos un día estupendo y la comida fue excelente. Es una experiencia maravillosa
