Back end of Regents cruise booked with Viator after having gotten an endorsement from our Regents travel agent. Marcelle made contact with me immediately after I booked more than 3 months in advance and stayed in contact all the way through the actual tour. Nico our guide was spectacular- very high energy and we traversed all the Athens highlights including some of the very authentic Greek neighborhoods in the Acropolis district. Vagelis was our driver and he was awesome as well. I’m detailed oriented and like confirmation that all is as planned and they were. Would recommend!

Itinerary
Panathenaic Stadium or else known as Kallimarmaro stadium – the oldest in operation stadium of the world, where the Olympics Games have been held three times. It is the only major stadium in the world built entirely of white marble.
Like the Acropolis, the temple of Olympian Zeus has been a distinctive Athenian landmark since time immemorial. The Pillars of Olympian Zeus, the outdoor ancient temple of Athena. The Temple of Olympian Zeus is a half-complete temple dedicated to Zeus, chief of Olympian Gods. It’s impressive history and destruction make the site interesting to study and its size a popular tourist attraction. It’s surrounded by other monuments, such as the Kallimarmaro stadium, the Hadrian’s Arch, and Zappeion Megaron. It’s within walking distance from the Athens center, 500 m east of the Acropolis and south from the Syntagma Square.
The Hellenic Parliament is the Parliament of Greece, an imposing building located in the Parliament House (Old Royal Palace), overlooking Constitution Square in Athens. The Greek Parliament, the old Palace of king Othon which is located in Syntagma Square and the Unknown Soldier Monument which is guarded 24 hours a day by the Presidential Guard.
Once the most luxurious public building in the city, Hadrian’s Library was erected around AD 132. It has an internal courtyard and pool bordered by 100 columns.
The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) is an integral part of the modern Greek intellectual tradition, life, and international presence. It successfully combines an old established name and authority with dynamic development and creative participation in modern letters and science. It is the oldest University in the country, founded by the Royal Decree of 22 April 1837 under the name “Othonian University”, as the first king of modern Greece, Otto of Bavaria, was its founder. Initially, it consisted of four Schools (of Theology, Law, Medicine, and Philosophy, the latter still comprising at that time Mathematics and Applied Sciences) with a total of 52 students. Its first seat was a neo-classical house on the north slope of the Akropolis hill, originally the home of the architect Stamatis Kleanthis (today the Museum of the University’s History is housed there).
The Academy was founded by Plato in ca. 387 BC in Athens. Aristotle studied there for twenty years (367 BC – 347 BC) before founding his own school, the Lykeion. The Academy persisted throughout the Hellenistic period as a skeptical school, until coming to an end after the death of Philo of Larissa in 83 BC. The Academy has been cited by historians as the first higher learning institution in the Western world.
The Parthenon is a temple on the Athenian Acropolis, Greece, dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena, whom the people of Athens considered their patron. Its construction began in 447 BC and was completed in 438 BC, although decorations of the Parthenon continued until 432 BC. It is the most important surviving building of Classical Greece, generally considered to be the culmination of the development of the Doric order. Its decorative sculptures are considered some of the high points of Greek art.
Plaka is the oldest and most charming district in Athens. It lies right below the Acropolis Winding medieval alleyways with romantic narrow steps, neoclassical mansions and houses with red tiles and balconies with colorful flowers characterize the neighborhood The Greek literature often called Plaka the neighborhood of the Gods Typical Greek taverns and street cafés serving ice-cold frappés are also characteristics of the area.

Marcella organized travel arrangements and Theodore was our driver. Many historical monuments were closed on Dec 26 and Marcella & Theodore accommodated by providing opportunities to visit other areas of interest! Thank you!
Very good tour for the short amount of time we had in Athens. Our guide, Spyros picked us up at our hotel and hit every major site with detailed explanation. Really enjoyed the half day excursion!
To start, our driver did an excellent job as a driver. Prompt, courteous and skilled at the wheel. The car was clean and comfortable. We drove by and stopped at several key sites, ate at a local restaurant and saw the changing of the guard. However, as it states buried in the description, you are not getting an “authorized” guide, rather a driver with “some knowledge” of Athens. We wanted someone who could accompany us and explain the associated history at each stop, especially at the Acropolis. So if you are looking for a guide with deep knowledge about Athens and its historical sites, SELECT ANOTHER PROVIDER. We didn’t catch the fine print buried in the description, and while we appreciated our driver’s skills and professionalism, we were surprised and disappointed that we did not get the historical context and insight we expected for the price..
Theodore was amazing! He was patient with us and took his time explaining the sights. This was a great tour as it covered all of the highlights of Athens in a short period of time.
This tour company was great, and very accommodating. We had to switch to a larger vehicle because we had 8 people including a toddler, and they arranged it last minute. We were able to see all the sights we wanted in a short period of time, and my family was very happy! Highly recommend!
Our driver Dennis, was great! He communicated well prior to pickup and was waiting on us when we got off the boat. He made the trip to Athens very easy and memorable. We would highly recommend this service and Dennis.
I highly recommend this tour. A private tour/car is obviously more expensive but you can customize the time to your liking. I will also say the guide and driver were very knowledgeable and i highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to get a personalized tour of Athens.
Our driver Stelios come on-time, we visited the Acropolis and city sightseeing with drop-off at plaka for lunch break. Marcela remind to us to purchase the Acropolis tickets before our arrival which is helpful as we manage to get early morning tickets before the weather become too hot.
Pick up was friendly and on time. Our host could not do enough for us and treated us exceptionally well. Flexibility was key and we were given lots of options so the morning suited us exactly. The upshot was that we had the experience of our lifetimes and would not use any other company when visiting Athens.
Excellent highlight tour of the major sights. Dennis is knowledgeable, friendly and very pleasant company. Note that he takes you around the city to each site (a huge time/comfort advantage), but doesn’t take you into the museums or archeological sites. Buy a combination entry pass ahead of time to skip the lines. The van was very comfortable. He pointed out a lot of additional buildings/places of interest, and had good advise for exploring Athens on our own after the tour. 10/10 would recommend Dennis as a private Athens guide!
The visit at Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum was incredible and really organized and well explained.
The driver was very helpful and the transfer was amazing. We come to Greece every year and now we will only use this company for transfers and tours! Everyone should!
Excellent experience and service. It was a great day tour in Athens and the driver was very helpful towards giving us tips for everything!
These guys were truly THE BEST! They're so kind, so much fun, and they went out of their way to take care of us (including finding last minute things we needed for our kids)! They're also so knowledgeable and give a really great (and super interesting) tour. Their English is perfect, and also, they're super trustworthy -- that goes a long way. In general, they really helped us see Athens as both tourists and as locals - sharing with us all the tips and taking us to some really cool spots. Highly recommend them if you're traveling in and around Athens.
Exceptional tour and would highly recommend this. The driver was punctual, friendly and polite and a wealth of information, even managing to keep our teenagers interested and off of their phones. We would definitely use them again for other tours. Great value for money.
We had a good transfer. The driver was very nice and took us safely to our destination. Communication was perfect!
Excellent tour guide very informative and great sense of humour. The driver, the transfer and tour was amazing, clean and very helpfull. I definetely recommend it to all.
