Private City Kickstart Tour: Athens

The tour guide was nice but it was a very disappointing excursion. It was very difficult to understand the guide because it was so loud and very crowded.. She was talking while we were walking. I It ended up being a frustrating 1-1/2 hours. Because of this, we felt like it wasn’t a good value for the amount of money & time we spent. A suggestion would be to use a wireless audio system even if it is just 2 people. We are usually so happy with booking thru Viator.

A great way to acquaint ourselves with Athens and the sites near our hotel.we enjoyed our guide and appreciated him sharing his knowledge of food and shopping sites. We felt much more comfortable exploring on our own after the tour.

My husband, our 10 year old son and me stayed only 1 day in Athens but wanted to see whatever we could manage. We requested a guided walk with Urania but we specified to her what we need, what our son can handle etc. She made a perfect customized plan and we had an amazing afternoon with her where she took us to many places and explained everything to us. It was like meeting a fried who totally understood what we need. She is a very nice, kind and relaxed person and we highly recommend her. She really made a difference! Thank you a lot Urania!

Our guide was Yorgos and what a great way to start a trip in Athens!! He was so friendly and so much fun. Not only did he show us some of the bigger things to see, he also took us around to some of his local favorites so we knew where to go back to. It was such a great way to start off our stay in Athens and Yorgos was the perfect ambassador to do it!!

Before meeting the guide, i suggest agreeing on a specific spot to meet as the square is really busy. We had a lovely walk around the city and the guide pointed out interesting spots with advice on where to eat and shop. It made it easier to navigate on our free days.

Absolutely LOVED our 90 min kick starttour with Dionysis. He was very well informed and helpful. Gave us a lot of tips that improved our whole Athens experience! Thank you so much for being so geneorous with your knowledge of Athens and sharing your brilliant tips. It made our whole trip way more enjoyable.

Vicky was an excellent guide she have a nice over view of the area. She enlightened us on some of the Greek Mythology Gods. She also gave us some great recommendations for good local food. Two of which we tried already for dinner last night and lunch today. That's very much Vicky!

I don't even know where to begin with how amazing Yorgos was! My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Greece, and had just over 24 hours to spend in Athens. We hired Yorgos hoping to see the highlights of the city in our short period of time without the frustrations of navigating the city on our own. From the minute we met with Yorgos we knew we made the right decision. Not only is Yorgos very personable and fun to talk with, he is very knowledgable about the history of Athens and you can tell how passionately he feels about Greece and it's colorful history! He showed us the prominent tourist locations in Athens, but also took us to some of his personal favorite spots in the city that few tourists would ever know about. Our time with him just flew by, but I had such a greater appreciation for the area, the history, and the little tidbits of little known facts about Athens after spending an afternoon with Yorgos. We cannot wait to see him again when we come back in 10 years :)

Urania was beyond the perfect guide! She was very pleasant and energetic. She gave us several helpful tips. Urania extended herself beyond our expectations.

We had a great family tour with Anna. We saw the changing of the guard at Parliament and she took us to some amazing lookouts we would never have found without her. She gave us some great recommendations and was lovely and patient with our five year old.

Despite the fact that I informed the need to cancel or reschedule the tour more than 24 hrs before in advance (because my flight was delayed), I did not received any response from Withlocals until the end of the day, meaning they simply charged me and do not care to try to schedule with a different guide or time. Sorry, Under this conditions I find very difficult to recommend the service to anyone else.

Marialena was awesome. Since we explored some areas on our own prior to the tour, she was flexible enough to show us other areas. She is very knowledgeable about the history and areas of Athens.

Marialena gave my wife and I a very informative "kick-start" tour of Athens. She was also able to condense the very long and interesting history of Greece into an understandable format covering the highlights. This was important (as it happened to be Greek Independence Day) and helped us understand what was going on that day. We probably learned more, in this short tour, than we would have in two days with a larger group. We highly recommend this tour (with Marialena if possible) as a segue to the rest of your Greek experience.

Dionysis was punctual at our meeting point to guide me in a long but very interesting tour through ancient ages til today! All archeological sites have been explained perfectly and he also added information I couldn\u2019t have know w/o q guide! We walked a lot up and down acropolis agora theatres Philopappos Hill til panathenaicon stadium!\nI really suggest a tour with him, an archeologist with deep knowledge of his city and its history

Marialena is a fantastic tour guide. I booked a solo tour and Marialena easily switched up the tour to suit me. It was a great way to cover the basics of Athens for someone whose never visited before. I would definitely recommend this tour and Marialena to others.

Our guide Ariadni met us at a nearby metro station and took us on a winding path through Athens, beginning with the gardens and traveling through the Plaka with many stops to point out interesting sites, buildings, and significant archeological points of interest along the way. She was incredibly knowledgeable about Athens and has a true love and appreciation of this city, and it showed. We felt as though we learned a lot and had such a pleasant time during our tour. Ariadni gave us several suggestions for meals and none of them let them down. We highly suggest this tour and this guide!!

Perfect way to begin our stay in Athens, Ariadni was fantastic! She was very passionate about athens & gave us some great insight. I took the Kick-Start tour and was pleasantly surprised by my tour guide Yorgos. He was super informed, friendly, creative, and philosophical! I hope to be back soon and have another tour by him!

Your review: Yorgos was amazing!! From the moment I watched his video when I was making my guide selection to finally meeting him. Yorgos exuded his respect and admiration for his home city of Athens. Yorgos pointed out several subtleties of the differences between Greek and Romen architecture and even differentiated between the 5 periods of Greek history. Yorgos had a very calm demeanor and delightful personality. He was such a pleasure to hang around and was very attentive to our questions. I felt we had become friends!!!

A very symphatic and nice young women, she speaks flawless englisch and showed us not so mainstream beautiful parts of Athen. I would love to take another tour with her at any time. Best wishes Martina

Was an outstanding experience with Ariadni, got a sneek peek of Athens.Unfortunately we did this on the last day, had we done on the first day we would have been able to explore better by ourselves. Very impressive about Ariadni is she's very accommodative .. Cheers!!!

Great tour with Urania. Extremely knowledgeable about the area and showed us a few hidden gems that tourists would not normally come across. Provided several recommendations for dining. Overall a really good morning spent with a lovely local.

Our tour with Yorgos was exactly what we hoped for, we only had 2 days in Athens so wanted to make the most of our stay. Our meeting point was very straightforward and uncomplicated, Yorgos was a gent, very easy going nature with an easy flow to our walk around Athens, lots of helpful recommendations and insights into the areas we passed. Highly recommend this tour, it's our second intro tour using With Locals (Rome and Athens) and its been the best way to get to know the area in a relaxed, stressfree way. Like walking through a beautiful city with a friend!

Yorgos is a great guide. He knows his city and shared a lot about life in Athens with us. A very good way to experience a new city first hand.

Ariadni met us on time after we had to rearrange days due to our ship changing itinerary due to bad weather. It was only us and her which made for a intimate tour through the windy streets of the centre of Athens. Ariadni took us to ruins we would not have found if we were wandering around alone and lovely quieter areas, seconds from the bustle of the town. She also helped us with places to eat and if we were not getting back on the ship so soon, was going to help us plan our day/days in Athens (which would have been very helpful!) We saw a number of beautiful churches and Ariadni explained a lot of history and we wandered around with great view of the Acropolis most of the way. Would highly recommend.

The 90 minute introduction tour felt like 15 minutes. Vicky filled the time with information, tips and stories. She shared valuable tourist pointers on navigating Athens. Thank you for being an awesome guide Vicky.

Ariadni is a true Athenian. She immediately got a sense of our personalities, and catered the tour to suit our interests. She gave us some great recommendations and tips along the way, while also pointing out the most important sites. Very knowledgeable of both historic and modern Greece, and because she has lived in the US, her English and knowledge of our customs was great. She also pointed out what was not worth paying for or overrated, which I thought was wonderful. I would recommend Ariadni to anyone who appreciates kind, down-to-earth people. Great experience!

Our tour of Athens with Vicky was the perfect way to start our trip. Vicky was very friendly and very interesting. Her English was excellent and we felt comfortable right away. The tour an easy walk around, and I was so impressed with the variety that we were able to see in one 90-minute walk. I would definitely recommend the 90-minute kickstarter tour as the best way to start out your visit to Athens!

Wonderful introduction to highlights of the Plaka area of Athens on our first day in the city with a 90 minute private walking tour from Yorgos. Very competent English speaking guide introduced us to restaurants and main attractions of the area and was most helpful in getting us acquainted with the area we explored on our own for the next two days. Our group of five did the private "Kick-Start" tour with Vicky, who was wonderful, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. She helped us get our bearings in the Plaka, Monasteraki, and Syntagma areas, and she told us a lot of interesting historical and cultural information which gave us a great foundation for exploring the city later on our own. She was very friendly and great at answering questions. I highly recommend this tour as a way to kick off your stay in Athens!

I highly recommend Marialena and taking this your. This was the first thing I did upon arriving in Athens and I am so glad I did! I was able to get immersed in the culture, learn the City center, and know where to go. I would recommend this again and again! Marialena was full of so much knowledge, easy to talk to.

We used Phevos for our 90 minutes walk in March 2018. He walked with us the neigbhorhood of Plaka, Monasteraki, Syntagma, Psyris and the Anafiotika. The only thing I wish he would do is providing us with an itineary map of the tour in case we want to revisit those neighborhoods.

I wanted to have a little introduction of a local to the city and that worked great. Anna has shown us nice corners, has responded to our interests and was overall a very pleasant companion. The offer is absolutely recommended, probably no matter who leads, because everyone has different topics and favorite places and the interesting thing are the insights from Dense of those living here. It was really great fun.
