Premium Semi-private Athens Afternoon Food Tour & Wine Tasting

Our guide was very knowledgeable about Athens' food culture and gave excellent recommendations for what to try during my trip.

We did an evening food tour with wine tasting, and loved every minute of it. Our guide, Elena, was exceptional! One member of the group pulled up a picture of "Submarine Sweets" and asked if Elena knew what that was. Not only did Elena explain Submarine Sweets, she launched into the history of mastic complete with photos of the collection and cleaning process she had ready to go on her tablet. Quite possibly the most prepared and knowledgeable guide I've ever had, and I've been on a lot if tours in a lot of places. Not only was she knowledgeable, but she was friendly and kind as well. There were some more difficult people on our tour, and Elena handled them with grace and csinlass. The tour itself was also great - we had souvlaki, 4 different wines paired with really delicious cheeses, mezedes, a full main course of our choice, and gelato for dessert. Also - I have Celiac, and I was able to participate in the full tour! I was given a plate of souvlaki and friees instead of souvlaki in a pita, at the wine bar I could have everything except the little breadsticks (and they brought the cheese plates with the breadsticks separately to prevent cross-contamination), for the main course there were a few gluten-free entree choices, and the gelato stop even had gluten-free sugar cones. GF friends, you can feel good about booking this food tour! The meeting spot was just a little tricky - it's the fountain in the center of Syntagma Square. Our driver dropped us off across the street, where there were also two fountains, so we weren't sure we were in the right spot at first. So make sure you're at the big round fountain in the center of the square. A minor detail, but everything else was perfect!

Amazing tour! Really enjoyed learning about the Greek culture. The wine tasting was incredible and educational. Nice small group of like minded people with great food, awesome wine, and a nice stroll through Athens. Also cool learning about the Greek mythology.

Our Athens Walking Wine and Food Tour was one of the highlights of our visit. As a private tour for just Robbie and Drew, it felt incredibly personal and relaxed. The tour was exceptionally well planned, combining fascinating local history with outstanding food and wine experiences. We visited several upmarket venues, enjoyed a generous variety of delicious food, and never felt rushed. Constantina was a warm, knowledgeable, and engaging host who brought the stories of Athens to life and tailored the experience beautifully. We left with a deeper appreciation of the city, its culture, and its cuisine. Highly recommended!

Overall it was a great experience. I will note that the only wine is at the tasting. Personally, my wife and I felt that the overall experience wasn't "premium" or worth the price point, but the food and wine we did get were good and enjoyable. It is a LOT of walking, so please be aware of that, but our guide was so sweet and nice and we enjoyed our time. There is a lot of time in between tastings and a lot of talking from the guides. More wine and less time in between stops might make this better. It felt as though they were trying to waste time to make the experience take the allotted amount of time.

Great experience! Tried several food and drinks I would have never know to look for and everything was so delicious! Our guide also gave us some recommendations for other places to visit on our trip and was so nice.

The guide was very nice but just not at the level for this to be marketed as a ‘foodie’ tour. The food tasting offered were good but nothing special. I was hoping for a more unique experience rather than the more tourist spots we were taken to. I would suggest focusing more on unique traditional tavernas and places were locals go rather than the popular tourists spots we were taken to that I could have found myself.

I had a wonderful time trying Greek foods and wines! I was nervous about going solo, but Winnie (sp?) was amazingly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

This sounded great on paper but in action it was just ok for the price. Tour guide was nice but soft-voiced, so we couldn't hear a lot of what she said. We started with a stop for a Gyro sandwich, which was tasty but very large. Then to the wine bar, which had very loud music playing and a somm with a very thick accent and high-pitch - again heard nothing she said. The shop with the olive oil and other treats was the highlight. Dinner was at a very crowded and warm place. The food was fine, but it was very typical of Greek food we had all had before - nothing new. Plus we hardly needed dinner after the huge Gyros we had at the start.

Wonderful guide. She was welcoming knowledgeable and picked amazing spots. Small group of 8 was perfect. A must do.

You get a wide variety of food and bites. Gelato at the end of dinner was a nice touch! Our host was terrific!!!

Would highly recommend this wonderful tour. Gari was the perfect guide, very knowledgeable, sensitive and thoughtful. The visits were well thought out and very informative and included superb wine bar for a tasting which was high quality wines. The food throughout was excellent in lovely venues. The next day, I met up with some Greek friends who were over from Australia and was pleased to be able to recommend restaurants. We ate at the wine bar and one of the restaurants Gari introduced me to and also visited the olive oil shop several times where Maria was very happy to welcome us and help with recommendations. All in all an excellent tour and I would suggest doing it at the beginning of a visit to Athens as it will help inform you of how to plan your holiday. Thank you Gari.

This was a fun introduction to the Athens food scene. Lots to eat and drink and a very informative, energetic guide. We really enjoyed stopping at neighborhood eateries as well as small shops and wine bars to sample local specialities. Great thing to do on your first night in town.

Our group of six plus our new Australian friend had an awesome evening. Niki took us to some great restaurants(2) a great wine tasting, an olive oil tasting and then capped it all off with a nice gelato. Great food great drinks and great company with our best new Grecian friend Niki! Would do it all again. Great time.

Gari was the best guide on our food tour! This was a great experience to start off our trip. We learned so much about Athens and the Greek culture including the intricacies of wine, olive oil, and other Greek delicacies. She was open to any questions and greatly enhanced our trip as she knew the ins and outs of Athens and all of Greece. Would highly recommend as she will enrich your trip to Greece with her vast knowledge base.

What a lovely day, spent food tour, strolling around athens, understand history, food, wine tasting, olive oil tasting. Thanks to Niki that introduce us to all of these! We had a pleasure time in Athens because of her.

Marina was an excellent host/guide on our food tour. Two of the scheduled guests had a late flight arrival so it ended up being just myself and 2 friends. The foods we tasted were excellent including the final tavern we went to that served 2 appetizers, a Greek salad and a wonderful lamb and orzo dish that the 3 of us split. We had a very educational olive oil tasting hosted by Spiros (very knowledgeable and friendly) at a gourmet food shop and a wine tasting of 4 wines at a wine bar in the charming neighborhood of Plaka. Marina shared her knowledge of food, wine and history throughout. Great experience. Highly recommended.

Our Tour Guide Marian met us on time and was very warm and friendly. All the restaurants, bars and olive oil tasting were in very easy walking distance. Food was plentiful so make sure you wear some expandable trousers LOL... Marian was very knowledgable about the food and wine and gave us a history lesson thrown in for free. All in all it was a lovely late afternoon/evening and its always great to eat where the locals do. I think my personal favour was the Gyros cafe. If I have one criticism, if you can call it that, there was too much food :o) We didn't make it to the Gelato parlour and some of our evening meal had to be boxed up and taken away so make sure you don't over indulge during the day prior to this tour, more wine please ha ha ha Very enjoyable and would recommend.

This was a wonderful way to spend our first evening in Athens. Melpo, our guide for the evening, was perfect in every way. She guided us to a souvlaki place that was quite delicious, an olive oil tasting and wine tasting that were both delicious and educational, a great dinner of traditional Greek food, and some yummy Gelato to end the experience. Melpo was knowledgeable and fun - thank you!

Our guide Maria was engaging and knowledgeable. Food was excellent as were the wines. Considerable knowledge was gained from the olive oil tasting. We enjoyed the experience.

Penelope was a wonderful guide taking us to four locations to sample Greek wine, spirits, and food. We had fun sampling the appetizers while learning a bit about each wine, then a hearty main course, followed by more small plates of local flavors. Our tour ended with gelato and/or baklava. All of the restaurants were very good; we found ourselves returning to one of them a second time during our stay in Athens. Penelope was very accommodating throughout the tour and very helpful in securing transportation back to our hotel.

Our group of seven had an amazing experience on this tour. With just one day in Athens after our cruise, we wanted to immerse ourselves in Greek culture and this tour exceeded our expectations. Constantina was incredibly warm and welcoming, patiently answering all of our many questions about Greece and its people. She guided us to several high-quality, non-touristy shops, each so impressive that none of us could choose a favorite. By the end of the day, we all felt like we had gained a deeper understanding of Greece and its culture. I can't wait to return and will definitely book another tour with them!

Eugenia was spectacular. This was our last day in Athens and what a fabulous way to end our trip. She shared her knowledge of Greece, mythology, and wine! We ate a lot and tried a variety of wines, oils, and liqueurs. The walking was easy. Communication was clear and the company was easy to work with. I would definitely use the company again on any return trips to Athens.

Our guide, Rita, led us on a fun and educational tour of Greek food and drink that was an absolutely perfect way to spend an evening in Athens. The pacing of the tour was perfect, our guide provided personal attention and made each participant feel comfortable, and there was more than enough to eat and drink. The flavors were amazing! I’m glad we booked this tour and highly recommend it.

Tour guide was very knowledgeable, engaging & relaxed. Portions were bigger than anticipated, but spread out enough that it wasn’t too much. Will definitely be going back to a few places to purchase items or have another meal!

Konstantina was awesome! This was a really cool experience for a first day in Athens. It’s a long night so wear sneakers and come ready to explore. The olive oil tasting was my favorite. Definitely not something I would do without the tour. Greece is so rich and culture and although I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface this was a fantastic 101 course.

Manolis was such a great guide. He was not only knowledgeable in wines but also gave us tips on the places we were visiting next. He was extremely effective to create a great atmosphere for everybody in our 8-people group to have such a great time. Highly recommend this tour as an introduction to Athens.

Fantastic tour by our guide Constantina! She took us (a group of 3 couples, 6 people total) to several stops to try unique Greek foods/wine. First stop was HooCut Pita (featured by Gordon Ramsey) - we tried both a pork and chicken pita which was very tasty with soft fluffy pita bread (pork was my favorite). Next stop was an olive oil tasting (with demonstration on how to examine the flavor of the olive oil), then a Greek mastiha liqueur tasting - this was a very informative presentation and interesting to try! Then we went for a wine tasting of 4 different Greek wines (various regions/grape varietals explained very well). Next was a family style dinner at "Ella Urban Greek Cuisine" with various Greek specialties to try - several salad/vegetable dishes, several meat dishes (my favorite was the slow cooked lamb). The tour ended with Gelato - try the pistachio! This tour was fun, informative, and we enjoyed meeting the other 2 couples on the tour... Constantina was very sweet, and kept a good pace with fun/lively discussion. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend! My husband and I did this tour our first night in Athens and it was so nice to meet a couple other tourists in a small and intimate setting. Our guide, Constantina, was very nice and knowledgeable. It felt like a friend taking you around the city. We thought it was great value for money and liked the mix of trying traditional foods, wines, olive oils and liqueurs. We ended off with gelato. It was a great way to visit a couple neighborhoods and ask questions to learn more beyond just food.
