Panos was an outstanding guide, and the whole tour was an informative and memorable experience. He did much more than take us from place to place, connecting the history of each location with philosophical and scientific ideas in a way that made the past feel alive. As a follower of Stoicism, I was especially enchanted to stand at the Stoa, where the school of thought began. Seeing the place where Socrates died made the experience feel almost personal, and I left with a deeper connection to Athens and its ideas.

Hadrian's Library was created by Roman Emperor Hadrian in AD 132 on the north side of the Acropolis of Athens.
The Roman Agora at Athens is located to the north of the Acropolis and to the east of the Ancient Agora.
The octagonal building called the Tower of the Winds was made by the astronomer Andronicus of Kyrristos, in the 1st century BC and served both as wind indicator but also a clock, so it was the “Big Ben” of Athens and also the meteorological station of the city. The clock was solar but in cloudy days there was also a hydraulic mechanism that produced a sound every hour! It’s considered the first meteo station.
Plaka is a scenic neighborhood of Athens with small houses and narrow streets.
At this spot we pay a tribute to a great philosopher!
Pnyx Hill is considered the "cradle of democracy" since it was the first place in the world that people took decisions for their future. The place offers great views to Acropolis and Athens.

The tour was very informative. Even through the rain, our tour operator was kind, thoughtful and spent time with us providing us with the historical context of Greece.
Very informative and enjoyable. Walking around agora to and over philosophers hill. Also a short stop in plaka.
A very interesting and informative tour, Nikos brought the history of Athens to life and gave context to the archeological sites we visited. Gave us lots to reflect on about how ideas and events of the past continue to shape the world we live in. This tour was the highlight of our trip to Athens!
The tour was fantastic from start to finish. Nikos was passionate about Greece Athens. He is a wealth of knowledge and information which bought all the different parts of the tour to life. He is a very intelligent man and his discussions about democracy and philosophy were enlightening. I’d recommend this to anyone who is visiting and is interested in learning more about the history of Athens, democracy, or philosophy. It was the highlight of my holiday.
This was a wonderful and thought provoking tour connecting past and present government and philosophy.
Exceeded our expectations! Niko was very knowledgeable and we learned so much. The time flew by - we really enjoyed the tour.
Very informative overview of Athens history, the rise of democracy and the role of Greek philosophy in Western civilisation. Guise Panos was clear and entertaining. Communication before and after the tour was excellent.
The tour was interesting and educational. Our guide, Nichos, was very good—his explanations were clear and knowledgeable; his talk on philosophy was excellent.
Simply a MUST-do in Athens. Panos is a fantastic guide with a wealth of historical knowledge. We really enjoyed it.
excellent guide who loves history and had deep knowledge of Greece and the philosophers! Highly recommend
Educational and entertaining tour. Great slow pace in the heat. Nikos was a fantastic knowledgable tour guide happy to answer all questions. He clearly has a passion for the subject which made it all the more engaging. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Athens.
This was a fun tour. It was a smaller group -no headsets, no large crowds. Nikos was an excellent guide. Very knowledgable.
Panos has real passion for his work and enjoys it. We were very impressed by this experience! We learned a lot of interesting history about Athens in many ways!
Very unique experience! Niko knew a lot about the topics and left us with things to think about! Also brought us to areas we hadn’t been on our trip, the park was lovely
In depth walking tour discussing history, Philosophy, and Democracy of Ancient Greece. Very knowledgeable guide and easy to understand. Very good experience!
Panos was amazing, friendly and informative. Such a great tour. He touched on history to philosophy to democratic republic. The ups and downs. Bonus was to walk and see the sites where our greatest minds once did. Was a beautiful evening to do the walk and great pictures of the Acropolis as well. Definitely a tour not to miss while in Athens. Cheers. Thank you again for a great time.
This was a very interesting and thorough tour of the history of athens focusing on how the life and culture of the times impacted politicians and philosophers (and vice versa). The guide was knowledgable and engaging. It would not be very good with young children under 10 or those with a short attention span. Anyone else would enjoy it!
Nikos was brilliant - so knowledgeable and interesting. Lots to consider about democracy, politics and philosophy of Ancient Greece that applies to the current day. Saw Athens in a completely different way. One of the best tours we have been on - anywhere in the world!
The most informative and enjoyable walking tour! Do not miss it — you won’t be disappointed. Athens’ history of wars, politics and philosophy is brought vividly to life throughout the walk. Panno is passionate, incredibly knowledgeable, and has a wonderful way of explaining complex history and ideas so they are engaging and easy to understand. We came away with a much deeper appreciation of Athens and its fascinating past. Highly recommended!
This was the perfect start to our trip in Athens. Panos was an exceptional tour guide with so much knowledge and a great sense of humor! We learned as much as we laughed and came away contemplating some of the important historical context of democracy and philosophy, and its influence on today. The tour was very well paced for all ages and the perfect length.
Wonderful conversations and we were able to learn a lot of details about the sites that we didn’t learn while passing through there ourselves. Our tour guide was funny and knowledgeable and we really enjoyed the foundations in Greek democracy and philosophy.
I apologize for my absence. I lost my way and was unable to make the appointment. There was nothing you could have done to help me at the time. Thank you for trying to reach me!
The guide Nikos is knowledgable and made this tour wonderful!. He showed us some interesting things and spoke about some of the history that I had not heard before.
This was a highlight of my time in Athens. Informative and a lovely walk with a well informed guide.
An excellent tour giving a lot of history of Greece, Athens, the creation of democracy and the ideas of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, One of the best tours I’ve been on because of the depth and integration of ideas our guide Nicos was superb. Don’t miss this tour
A long, arduous walk. A lot uphill, cobblestone, stairs. Very interesting. Nikkos knew his history and archeology well. But difficult to hear him unless stayed close. Not for hard of hearing. Great for those who love history of democracy in Greece and philosophy.
This may have been the best tour we did in Athens. Minus the Acropolis, I believe you see mostly all the other usual sites you want to see in Athens on this tour. And Nikos was an excellent tour guide providing context for ancient Athens' importance in history, politics, philosophy, mathematics, and science.
You walk through many neighborhoods and see with explanation some interesting parts of Athens history, such as the ancient Hadrians library, etc. The discussion about philosophy and democracy were very interesting. I would highly recommend this tour. Be prepared for quite a bit of walking, some of it uphill.
This was one of the best tours I have ever done. Nikos was amazing. Outstanding knowledge of history, democracy and philosophy and a fantastic story teller. I learned so much and he got us to really think! No pressure and very well paced. Well worth it
Very great experience all through it was hot today the tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining about the history of both democracy and philosophy on Athens.
Tour guide was very knowledgeable. The walking stroll was manageable. It was very informative and a pleasant walking tour. Would recommend to anyone
Excellent overview of Athens and it's history, with focus on the development of democracy and the progress of philosophy. There was a 20 min mini lesson on philosophy at the end that I very much enjoyed, but some tour members did not enjoy. This tour is for those who want to learn more and are interested specifically in history and philosophy. Nikos, our guide, was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend highly for those who have a keen interest in these topics. If you want a quick overview walking tour with no real depth, look elsewhere.
Extremely education and thought provoking. Thoroughly enjoyable. The guides and other guests on the tour were great. Highly recommend.
Such an informative and amazing introduction to democracy and philosophy in Athens. Would recommend to anybody who wants to gain a bit more insight into Ancient Greece and how it has influenced the modern world.
A wonderfully done, different type of tour. You learn a bit about historical sites, but more focus on the socratic and democratic history of Greece. At the end you truly discuss the great thinkers and tie it into today's subjects. This tour was a nice break from hearing all about building history. Our teen boys enjoyed the discussions- but they've studied these philosophers at school. Well done!
Fantastic experience! The tour was the perfect length & the route was accessible. I appreciated the break for refreshments and the chance to use the toilet. Very interesting & some fantastic sights! Lots of fascinating facts & stories to bring back to my friends.
This tour was great introduction to Greek philosophy which I have avoided for decades. It was way better than reading introductory book as our guide took us to multiple landmarks and gave us lessons relevant to each of them. He was very good at explaining this difficult subject simply so I guess he used to be an academic or a school teacher.
What an amazing walk through thousands of years of history and ideas (despite extreme heat). Ended with our own “symposium” in a shaded garden. My 13 year old son declared it one of the best days of his life and particularly remarked on the curiosity sparked by Panos.
We had a wonderful evening with Panos and our small group. This was one of the most unique tours we have ever been on and Panos weaved together the city's history, philosophy and mythology in a truly compelling way. Would recommend 10/10 to anyone interested in a deeper understanding of this city beyond the usual sites.
I think Panos's tour should be obligatory to everyone visiting Athens. It was so good, easily the highlight of our trip. Panos was so funny and knowledgeable, and we learned a lot. The first part of the tour focused to give an overview of Athen's history, and the second part focused more to philosophy and the development of democracy. I especially enjoyed how Panos connected antique Athens to modern day. There are definitely many things that our modern societies could learn from the athenians. We were a group of around 10 people, which was great, everyone could ask their questions and interact with the guide. Go with an open mind, and ask questions – you'll be surprised how much you can learn in just three hours.
He was so thoughtful and conscientious . Articulate about everything!!! Pace of speak and clarity perfectly.Watched out for all different aged people. Humorous and knowledgeable. Receptive to all questions!!!
Wonderful history and insight and a beautiful stroll around Athens and some less well known stops! We highly recommend!
Panos is an excellent, knowledgeable guide and a pleasure to listen to. The tour is well paced with enough stops to make the length of the tour quite comfortable even in August heat. Highly recommended.
This was the tour I came to Athens hoping to do. In the first half, you visit historical sites right in the heart of the tourist plazas you’ve probably already been walking around but learn the history and context which made them so much more meaningful and interesting. The second half is more of a stroll through history, with discussions about philosophy, democracy, and their influence on the Western world we know today. This tour really put Athens, and Greece more broadly, into perspective. Panos was an excellent and engaging guide. I felt like we saw parts of Athens that many tourists don’t venture into. There was a well-timed refreshment and bathroom stop half way through the tour.
Panos was very knowledgeable about the history of Democracy and Philosophy in Greece and in particular in Athens. Enjoyed the tour. If you are doing multiple tours, I would recommend doing this one first.
We enjoyed this walking tour very much-Panos entertained and enlightened ua in an easy-going way, never dull, with a good sense of humor! I could easily have brought our kids too. Great job Panos. Thank you!
Absolutely awesome tour. Panos was deeply knowledgeable and had great examples and supporting material. Great way to start our Athens visit!
We truly enjoyed our tour with Panos and Nikos! This tour was intimate, which allowed us to ask questions and Panos to kind of guide the tour towards things we were interested in. He took us to a lot of interesting spots that show other sides of history you won’t get by simply going to the Acropolis. He touched on mathematics, science, psychology, and mythology in addition to teaching us about how ancient Athens organized its democratic government and how the emergence of philosophy changed western thought. He just struck me as a man with a ton of knowledge that he is passionate about sharing with others, which made the tour really interesting. Our group would definitely do another tour with Panos if we had the time!
Panos is extremely knowledgeable and explained the history behind landmarks and related stories in an enjoyable way. I enjoyed my time and learned a lot. Thank you.
