Surreal experience visiting Mycenae and totally appreciated our tour guide, Steve who was very knowledgeable and thoughtful throughout. Learned some pro-tips as well that on first and third Sundays of the month, historical sites and museums are free to visit in Athens ⭐️

Our guide Stovoros was excellent. He knew so much history of that area. He made the trip very interesting and enjoyable. It was a guided tour and he did an excellent job. Mycenae had lots of interesting history Nafplio is a picturesque town with imposing fortresses that Turks and Italians fought over for centuries. We had a short stop on Corinth canal to take some pictures. Very good trip .
Our guide Sofia and our driver Niko were fantastic. The pick-up process was a bit confusing but the actual trip itself was magnificent. The archaeological site at Mycenae and the museum taught me new things and walking around Nafplion was really relaxing and delightful. Overall, really enjoyed the whole experience.
Very nice tour! Guide extremely knowledgeable about the region and where we visited! Learned a lot from him. Timing seemed ideal 830a-6p. Not too long but just enough! Thank you very much!
A bit long but very informative about the history of the area abd greece.. Napflio is so nice prefere if we stayed longer
Loved this experience ! George was great and the sights were beautiful! It was the perfect day trip!
We enjoyed the trip and were charmed to see the beauty of the Peleponese. We had only 4 minutes (240 seconds!) to visit the museum at Mycenae, only enough to wish we had longer. The pottery shop visit was lost time which we would have preferred to spend at Mycenae itself.
Corinth canal and Nafplion was the best part for me. Our guide was very informative and helpful. The lunch was good too
What day! Started early out of Athens in a really nice small bus. We drove to the Corinthian Canal and were given time to walk around, take pictures and a health break. Nice cafe with lots of options. Then onto Nafplion and Mycenaean. Anthony (tour guide) gave lots of historical information and descriptions of everything. Nicos (the driver), was awesome. Careful and professional. No worries about our safety and comfort. The drive was pleasant and we liked seeing all the olive, lemon and orange orchards. Nafplion is a really nice town. Lots to see at all the steps. Various levels of exercise so good for the old and young.
Our tour guide, Helena, was personable and knowledgeable. The ruins of Mycenae were impressive. The restaurant was not picturesque or particularly friendly . They treated us as a group of bothersome tourists. The lamb was good but nothing special.
Guide was able to converse extremely well in both English and French. We received a very professional history lesson. Transportation and lunch was first class
I enjoyed the tour. Additional time was needed at Mycene. 20 minutes does give enough time for pictures and the museum. I could only take pictures.
Nice tour into the campagne of Greece. Our guide was very good in precising historical facts. Even in the free time, she was open to share some interesting local facts for those who were looking for something besides the touristic places.
We really enjoyed this tour. Pickup arrangements went smoothly, the tour guide (Xenia) was friendly and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed visiting Mycenae and also the time in Nafplion, which is a beautiful town. We had a drink in a lovely bar on the seafront to relax after exploring Mycenae. The lunch was good and they accommodated vegetarian food as it was a set menu. Only constructive feedback would be that the tour guide talked for just a little bit too long which impacted on time to explore Mycenae by ourselves. They could adapt by giving a shorter explanation and then giving people the option to stay for more information or head off on their own. The museum was also very busy with tour groups making it hard to see the exhibits. A tip - if you’re vegetarian or have other dietary needs, message the operator in advance as the lunch is a set menu otherwise and all meat.
Very good, highly recommend, whole day event, quite a bit of walking and the terrain is not even, the weather can be changeable so make sure to take layers and a raincoat
Very interesting. Our tour guide Nancy was very informative .We saw a lot . My suggestion is to avoid lunch, any place in Nafplio is better and you will get almost 2 hours in that nice town, instead of mediocre lunch in a hotel.
Terrific tour guide. She was a faint of information. Wonderful stops. We loved all the stops and the meal was good.
Mycenae, Mikines, Archeological Site Our final stop is the archeological site of Mikines, (there are several spellings of this place, am confused, guessing the Greek are as well, haha) Nice slow walk up the mountain, not too bad, less strenuous than the other sites we visited! But it appears that the one and only point of real interest is the Lion Head, beside of course the various remnants of this site, clearly explained in the various tablets/signs well positioned as appropriate! We got our fill of history on Greece on this trip, although I know there are many more to be explored, but just that there is never enough time! But we got a great idea & exposure which is what it was all about! Credit to Greeka.com: The Mycenaean Acropolis in Kolymbithres Paros: The hill overlooking Kolymbithres is the site where remains of the Mycenaean Acropolis are found from the 13th century BC. Parts of the remains were brought to light in 1975 by archaeologist Dimitris Skilardis. #magicalholidays#thetourist #greece #athens #holidaysurprise #mycenae #mikines
This was a truly wonderful tour into the Peloponnese region of Greece. I was particularly impressed with the tour guide, Vasiliki, who really brought the sites to life with her astounding knowledge. The trip was well paced, with enough time at each stop and the travelling was made all the better by the comfort of the mini-bus.
The sites themselves were very very impressive and I was so happy to get to see them. We found the tour bus easily and everything went smoothly. However, the timings didn't work well. The guide made us stand at the entrance to Mycenae for almost half an hour while she explained a lot about the history, and afterwards it didn't leave us with enough time to actually visit all of the site, even though we went as quickly as we could. Lunch was in the basement of a hotel near Nauplia, which was a bit sad, and we only had fifteen minutes to see any of the actual town. The same thing happened in Epidaurus with the guide speaking for far far too long, and preventing us from enjoying the experience of seeing these beautiful places by holding us up in the museum. It could definitely be better timed, as the explanations (although interesting) should not take precedence over the sites themselves.
The Guide Dimitria was fantastic and knowledgable. The stops were amazing with plenty of time. Lunch was nice and we sat with other participants and got to know them.
Limited English. Low information. Quick stops. No time to explore sites. Ended w a pottery shop to get a commission from sales. 👎
Wonderful day out starting with the impressive Corinth Canal. Mycenae was so amazing to see in real life and the theatre of Epidaurus was fantastic. Because it was late in the season we were a small group, and the narration was in English only. We stopped for lunch where some people had booked the three course meal (which looked good), we ordered off the a la carte menu and the food was great. Napflio was a lovely city, though we only had time to walk along the seafront and take pictures.
The tour guide took us to all of the spots, but honestly the actual information he gave was kind of lackluster. He explanations of the sites were very disorganized, and he didn't give as much detail as I would have expected from a $100 tour. Also, the tour guide could be very rude and said some unkind things about members of our group. If you just want to go to the sites and take a look, this tour isn't bad, but I wouldn't expect much more than that.
Great day out seeing Mycenae and Epidaurus. Well organised visit to these World Heritage sites. The guide was great and the coach ride relaxing. Gave a 4 rating as we would have liked to stay longer at Mycenae and maybe have had lunch in the nice seaside town we dropped some guests at rather than the out of town hotel we went to.
Sights were great, no doubt about that. Otherwise, the trip was not quite enjoyable. First, it's not an English tour! As already indicated in the previous reviews, and I think the tour operator is obliged (!) to indicate beforehand that it's a French-English tour, not an English one! And as the guide was speaking much better French than English, and more or less repeating everything twice in two languages, a lot of time was waisted on listening twice for the same stuff. And I'd say it was really tiresome. Let alone that I would have expected something more interesting and intelligent (!), than phrases like "Athena was a goddess of intelligence; intelligence was very significant". We stopped for lunch at a really rustic place, but the food was so so (really rare to encounter in Greece). And at the end of the tour there was that shameful visit to a souvenir shop, disguised as "ceramic workshop"; basically swindling us into buying some overpriced jewelry or pots. The time we lost there could better be spent on sightseeing in Nafplion. All in all, I'd recommend you to visit all these places on your own, if you can rent a car. Take this tour ONLY if you have no other opportunity for visiting Mycenae and other locations.
Our driver Spiros did a great job, and Jordan the guide was very helpful and we especially enjoyed his stories about the ancient sites we visited. He is very knowledgeable and made the trip very interesting.
Our guide was fantastic. One of the best we’ve had. Smart, knowledgeable, funny. Great tour. We all had a great time.
We got to visit Mycenae, Epidaurus and Nafpoli which was lovely. The tour was average, a lot of the times we couldn’t hear the guide and the English/French translations made it confusing. What we really didn’t like was the 1 hour stop to Amalia Hotel where we were forced to have lunch. We didn’t opt for lunch as the reviews said they were bad and instead ordered a coffee and juice, which ended up being expensive at 7 and 6 euros. We stayed at Nafplio for 30min where we could have had a lovely lunch by the sea. Overall, the worst tour we had on our trip to Europe
The trip was an awesome learning experience. The tour guide was knowledgeable, provided historic details and was pleasant. We love the tour and the places visited, we fall in love with Naphlio.
excellent tour to tombs and palace with helpful guide and nice views from bus. what more can i say, very happy
No aircon on bus - so had to join other group until repaired Dreadful lunch History amazing Guide OK only
Seeing the history and myths combined in one is the most memorable element of this trip. Archaeologists' dreams are in front of our own eyes, and they are the genuine gems! Starting with marveling the Corinth canal, followed by the beehive tomb of kings, glories of the past in Mycenae and Epidaurus, the trip truly ensures a fun filled day. Our guide Jordan gave us the survey of the Greek history, and it really helped to enjoy the trip in a historical context. Worth a day!!
Our guide Jordan was very good. We had a very nice and informative day. Mycenae and Epidaurus were awesome. The only complaint would be that in retrospect we would have preferred to take our lunch in the town of Nafplion rather than a nearby hotel. The town had numerous lunch options in the very nice waterfront area.
A great day, seeing some great sight knowledgeable guide. Lunch was ok, although chaotic. Our group didn't fill the coach. If the bus were full travelling so far would have been hard
Great archeology. The lunch wasn’t good but the sites are world class. Knowledge of guide was very good.
Jordan our guide was amazing! The guy knows a lot of stuff and is very enthusiastic to share. We could see he was passionate to share information. He kept asking us to ask questions. Great guide! Do not get lunch as they drop you off at a nice village with amazingly my views and restaurants. He made sure the A/C was on!!!!
Despite the hot weather this tour was very good value for a one day event. We got to see some items on our bucket list Mycenae and the Ancient theatre at Epidaurus. The small coach we had was very comfy and the air conditioning worked a treat.
Great trip that lets you experience some of the oldest and most iconic places from ancient Greece. Even the bus trip was really scenic! Highly recommend!
This trip went from Athens to Mycenae first (where we saw the Treasury of Atreus followed by the palace), then to lunch, then stopped in Nafplio, and then finished up at Epidaurus before returning to Athens. Mycenae and Epidaurus are fascinating archaeological sites. I booked this trip mainly for Mycenae, but I think I ended up enjoying Epidaurus even more. The theatre is impressive, of course, but the Sanctuary of Asclepius is also well worth seeing. Our guide was just okay. She was knowledgeable but sometimes took a sarcastic tone (not sure why), and she laughed after everything she said whether or not it was funny. After a while, I found it annoying. Most of the people in our group opted for lunch on their own. Those of us who did the group lunch were taken to a hotel restaurant near Nafplio. The menu consisted of an appetizer of cheese pie, a salad, and a main course of some kind of beef with vegetables. I'm vegetarian, so I figured I would just make do with the appetizer and the salad, but the restaurant staff very kindly prepared a vegetarian pasta for me. Dessert was chocolate cake with ice-cream. (It was a HUGE lunch.) The food was good and served in a pleasant environment. After lunch, we went to Nafplio to pick up the people who had been dropped off to have lunch on their own. Our guide pointed out some of the sites, which was interesting but only took about five minutes. We were then given 40 minutes on our own in Nafplio to "take photos." I don't really understand the point of this long hiatus, especially given that it was 100 degrees outside and not pleasant weather for randomly strolling around. I got an iced tea and bought a couple of hand painted magnets. I appreciated that regular bathroom stops were built into the trip. I once spent the majority of a 3.5 hour drive from Delphi to Athens in desperate need of a bathroom break, and I was very glad to not have to repeat that experience! Overall, I feel that the trip merits five stars because it is an economical, convenient, and mostly efficient way to see some impressive and important historical sites that should not be missed. I recommend it.
Fortini was terrific guide and provided interesting background history and was very knowledgable and able to answer all our questions. The driver was very cautious and smooth. We had a great time and also enjoyed the lunch at Hotel Amalia.
Good tour! It did exactly what I wanted. I met the tour at the departure hotel with no problem. I opted out of the included lunch, and had a Greek salad at the restaurant stop instead.
The trip was very interesting and the guide told a lot about the history of the place. She was speaking both English and French. But it was a little bit tiresome to here the whole story twice.
Tour was good as sites are extraordinary. Lunch was disappointing. Poor service, main corse of dry meat paddies and over the top mustard sauce on potatoes. Booked an english speaking tour but guide spoke mostly French with English sparingly as an after thought.
Our guide, Thomas, was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the trip and his energy was contagious. First stop was a food/ WC stop at the Corinth canal. Sodas cost twice what they did at a grocery store in town but the WC was clean and the 20 minutes allotted was perfect. The theatre at epidouras is a must see, but so is the sanctuary of Asclepius. No way can you see both in 1 hour. Nafplio is a beautiful town but a 30 minute stop in the harbor is a waste of time. Mycenea was also spectacular and the attached museum was wonderful for both the artifacts and the relief from the outdoor heat. Lunch was optional, meaning you could prepay for a fixed menu or go on your own. I chose the latter but there were no other options where the bus parked. You had 1 hour at the same restaurant as everyone else. I had the lamb and it was dry and tasteless. The staff were about as happy to see us as I was to be there with no other choices. Best part of the meal were the 6 cherries we were given as complimentary dessert. The subsequent 30-45 minutes in the ceramic shop was, for me, more wasted time. My suggestion, if you have the time, is to go on your own (self drive or private tour) and consider staying in Nafplio, and then continuing on to Delphi, on your own.
Lions gate, royal tombs and Epidaurus theater were the unforgettable hotspots. Lunch at Amilia hotel was too heavy. The guide was excellent with very strong knowledge and clear explanations. Maybe a few breaks in her descriptions would help digest information.
Mycanae was great. The guide was informative and there was enough time to see the site. Epidaurus was disappointing. The amphitheatre was great but we did not see any of the other ruins. We wasted time at a pottery shop and a side trip to napflio instead.
Our tour guide Joy was amazing. Her knowledge and passion for the history of the sites was great. My only issue with the tour was the lunch. It’s a below average lunch in the middle of nowhere at the Hotel Aliana. I highly recommend skipping the lunch and instead allocating your time at Nafplio, by far my favorite city in Greece. The have many beautiful restaurants on the water with amazing views. I think the tour should cancel the lunch option and instead allow guests to eat in the amazing city.
The tour guide did a good job making sure we had enough time to explore the locations at our own leisure
This tour was awesome and super convenient because they pick you up from your hotel. It ws awesome to see the ancient sites of Mycenae and Epidaurus. Originally I’d considered staying in Napflio and spending more time at these two sites but honestly this was perfect for us. The tour bus does have a decent drive to the sites from Athens but they have a restroom stop and so it doesn’t feel too long. The tour guide was knowledgeable and lunch was decent. This is a good value for your money overall. Should note that only water is included as a beverage.
