Meteora Monasteries Private Full Day Trip From Athens

Just an amazing trip. So interesting and filled with beautiful history. Our tour guide was kind and accommodated all our requests. Wonderful and worth the money for a private trip.

We had a few days in Athens and last minute secured a private tour to Meteoro , Theo our driver was waiting for us at our hotel as scheduled in a nice Merceedes wagon, Theo made the 3 hour journey insightful and enjoyable, we visited the Spartan Museum on our way had a few great photo location stops and local bakery for some traditional snacks and a coffee along the way, we arrived at Meteoro and visited 3 monestorys with ease and helpful tips from Thro after our visits we had lunch at remarkable Tavern in town recommended by Theo and the good and pricing was great value, Theo was great help all day assisting us in pre knowledge of all our visits We arrived back safely to our hotel I would highly recommend this trip for anyone who wants a great experience with a quality company and your guides Thankyou Theo

Long drive, but our driver Harry made it go by quickly! The Monasteries are well worth the drive and beautiful. Be aware there ate are a crazy amount of stairs.

It was a really long drive, but our private driver Harry made it pleasant! The Monasteries were beautiful and so unique being on top of the cliffs. There is a lot of walking and a crazy amount of steps.

The Private Day Trip to Meteora offerred by Crispy Local is highly recommended. We had a Mercedes Benz sedan for our day trip and the drive was very comfortable in the fastest way possible. Our driver Dimitrios was not only driving but also acted as our tour guide and personal photographer. Other tours recommended an overnight stay near Meteora but after going on this day trip, we felt it was not necessary. We had the chance to visit three monasteries of our choosing and spend as much time as we needed at each one and we felt that was enough as it is not necessary to visit all 6. We had all the photo stops we wanted to capture photos of the other monasteries we did not visit including the wonderful landscapes in the area. We were back at our hotel well before dinner time. We had a wonderful day trip visit to Meteora. If the budget allows, the Private Day Trip to Meteora is worth it.

George was an amazing tour guide - teaching us so much great history about Greece during our drive to and from Meteora. A true professional that made this experience worth every penny. Money well spent if you want an amazing experience from a true Greek history expert. We would schedule this again without any doubts.

Before boarding a cruise, we opted for a day-trip to Meteora from Athens. It was a long day, but an experience we are exceedingly grateful for. Our tour guide was Theo and he helped make our experience extra special. He made sure to explain history to us, take us to special locations for pictures, and ensure our every need/request was met. At one point, we only had US dollars and needed Euros. Theo took money out of his own wallet to cover us! The monasteries are incredible and the surrounding area is beautiful. By the end of the day, we booked with Theo for a second excursion between disembarkation and boarding our flight home. Thank you, Theo, for being a special part of our Greek Holiday!

We had an amazing experience going to Meta aura in Greece. Nathan was our driver and our tour guide. He’s only in his 20s, however his knowledge and his travel guiding was like an old soul that had traveled many years. He was informative about the area history as well as world history, which added so much to our trip. He knew history he was friendly. He was polite and car was very clean. . He drove very safely and he knew so much history about the entire country of Greece as well as the place we were visiting, which is Meteora monasteries. that place is beautiful. I would strongly go there again. Everyone should see the beautiful mountains and monasteries at the top. It is a strenuous walk but worth every minute of it. We were happy with the entire experience. It exceeded our expectations.

Wonderful and the most beautiful experience! Dimitris picked us up from our hotel and told us all about Athens on our way to see monasteries at meteora! We went to 3 and learned a lot and got a great work out. Lunch was at a spot he recommended and it was delicious we had two local dishes he recommended. He then dropped us off with a special gift. It was the best excursions I’ve booked ever!

Harry was an absolutely amazing guide and driver! Despite the tour lasting 12 hours, the journey never felt long or tiring. Harry kept us engaged throughout with enlightening conversations, fascinating historical insights, and thorough explanations of the monasteries of Meteora. His knowledge, passion, and engaging personality made the entire experience truly special. Overall, it was an unforgettable trip, and Harry played a huge part in making it so memorable. From beginning to end a wonderful experience! The monasteries are absolutely amazing. Dimitris our guide was incredibly helpful and basically dropped us off at the entrance to each one. There is quite a climb up stairs to get to the monasteries that are perched high on rocky outcroppings, so be prepared. It is well worth the effort! We also stopped at an incredible overlook that is not to be missed. After a full morning seeing the sights we relaxed in town for a delicious lunch. Dimitris was very friendly and ego. I only feel bad that I fell asleep on the ride back to Athens! Overall a great experience!! Highly recommend

He was lovely to talk to and I had messaged the couple letting them know I was planning to propose to my partner, they relayed the message to my guide and Theo found the perfect spot for it and took photos of the proposal! Couldn’t have been a more perfect day!

We could not ask for a better guide. In addition to being so knowledgeable about the area, Theo was so thoughtful. Went above and beyond to help with my fear of heights and was an absolute pleasure to spend our day with. Would definitely recommend him to everyone!!

Our full day tour with Theo surpassed our high expectations. In the past, we have chosen to “go it alone” or in small group tours, not knowing if the expense of a private tour was worth the cost. My wife and I can tell you that after traveling 12 hours with Theo in a very comfortable Mercedes SUV, I’m not sure if we’ll ever do another non-private tour again. We learned so much more about Greek culture, life in Greece today, and in the immediate past versus had we done the trip on our own or in a bus. Of course, we got the full rundown on all the historical sites. By the end of our 12 hours together, not only were we more knowledgeable but Greece, but we had gained a local friend. Molina was absolutely amazing and I would recommend 100% for the best Meteora trip that you could imagine.

George was an excellent guide and got us close to the entrance of each site. It was a beautiful day with spectacular views and worth the long ride from Athens. Never seen anything like it and would recommend to my friends that come to Greece.

We had a wonderful tour with this company. They were always in contact with me with any questions I had through WhatsApp. Our driver Nathan was excellent. He also kept in contact with us as to how far away he was from picking us up, etc. Our car was very comfortable and he had water for us. We stopped going to and coming back for a restroom break. The actual Meteora area was stunning! Many people there and many steps to climb but once in a monastery, it was breathtaking. We went on a Sunday which made the traffic much less. Nathan gave us the option to see a third monastery but we were very satisfied with seeing two. Our lunch was delicious at a nice Greek restaurant and the fact that we had perfect weather made the day even better. We highly recommend this company for any touring needs!

We were looking for something different than central Athens for a day trip. Meteora was gorgeous. The scenery was top notch and the history around the monastery was fascinating. Dimitris was an excellent host pointing out all the historical locations along the way. He even attempted to teach us some Greek words. The ride was comfortable and convenient. Their lunch stop was delicious. Would definitely recommend for seeing another part of Greece.

A must-do experience worth every penny. Yes, it is a long journey, but the entire experience was seamless and comfortable. Nathan, although not a licensed tour guide, had more information on the history and culture of Greece than most tour guides I’ve worked with. He was also very accommodating and took us to the best viewpoints where there weren’t any crowds. We ended up visiting 3 monasteries and had a delicious lunch at a local tavern. Meteora is a dream- pictures cannot capture how beautiful it really is. Overall, highly recommend this tour!

A great experience from beginning to end. Both the owner and our driver had excellent communication leading up to the trip and the day of the tour. We had no worries we would be picked up on time and in the right location. Dimitris was our driver. He has clear communication and is very knowledgeable and was open to answering our many questions. He also made stops when we requested and he suggested a stop at one point. This gave a brief and much appreciated respite from the long drive. We had plenty of time at each monastery to explore, take pictures and enjoy the history and views. Dimitris brought us to a restaurant after the tour and the food was incredible! This is a higher priced tour, but considering the long day, the personal touches, and the knowledge he shared with us, we all agreed it was well worth it. Thanks for a great day and a great tour!

I was nervous about being in a car for three plus hours each way. Melina immediately changed that for me as we had such an engaging conversation about Greek history, Meteora, and the places we saw along the way. I barely noticed how long the drive was. Melina is knowledgeable and prepare me and my cousin very well for what we would see in the monasteries. Melina also had an unusual experience as my Greek family showed up and took us out for lunch. She blended right into that experience. I am very glad I did this tour with Melina as it cut the long commute into a very enjoyable day.

We had a fantastic experience touring the Meteora monasteries with our driver, Dimitris Kakokefalos. The wonderful experience started with Dimitris. He met us on time with a clean, comfortable vehicle and immediately made us feel welcome. During the three-hour drive to Meteora, he shared a wealth of interesting information about the area, the history, and the places we would be visiting. Dimitris was not only knowledgeable, but also exceptionally attentive to our needs. He went out of his way to make sure our group of four adults was comfortable and well looked after, providing extra assistance whenever needed. His driving was excellent—smooth, safe, and comfortable—which made the long journey to Meteora feel surprisingly relaxing. His professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail contributed greatly to what was a memorable day. We would highly recommend Dimitris to anyone visiting Meteora. He was an excellent driver and a wonderful companion throughout the journey.

We had an amazing day tour to Meteora from Athens with our guide, Nathan. Nathan was one of the best tour guides I’ve been lucky enough to have in quite sometime. He really went out of the way his way to educate us throughout the trip. We truly felt like family on a private tour. Pick up was prompt from our hotel at the arranged time and he explained exactly how the day would go after getting our opinion on which sites were most important to us. We made quick stops along the way to allow for bathroom breaks. Nathan continued to provide fascinating info about Greek history and culture along the way. We were always dropped as close as we could to the sites and then he would promptly pick us back up once finished. The restaurant recommendation was delicious and he got us back safely to our hotel at the right time. I cannot speak highly enough about Nathan and recommend you request him for your tours around Athens! Thanks for an amazing experience!

We got to see breathtaking views in the comfort of our own vehicle and wonderful guide

The view of the monasteries is spectacular - definitely a lifetime experience. Nathan was our driver and he had a wealth of knowledge of the history of Greece and the monasteries. We learned a lot from him. It is a long ride from Athens about 3 1/2-4 hours but he made it interesting and provided stops in between. The restaurant he recommended in Meteora was very good. The monasteries are extremely interesting but require climbing many steps to access them and each monastery charges a separate fee to enter. This was my husband’s favorite tour. If you can manage climbing it is a definite tour to go on.

We had an amazing visit to Meteora with our guide, Melina. The drive was long but Melina broke it up with a quick stop at the monument for Leonidas at Thermopylae. Melina expertly navigated our way visiting three of the Meteora monasteries, which were quite fascinating. She provided us with plenty of opportunities for some amazing pictures and had a lot of insight into the history of each monastery allowing us to choose the three that appealed to us the most. We also ate a nice lunch on an outdoor patio in Kalabaka with a nice view of the valley and unique rock formations. She was great company for the long drive home, sharing insight about Greece in an easy flowing and interesting manner. Most importantly, she got us back to the hotel safely. We booked directly online with the Company, Crisply Local, and it was quite simple and efficient. The communication via WhatsApp was timely and responsive. We were very pleased with this full-day trip from Athens.

We booked the Meteora Monastries private day tour from Athens. We had good communication with the provider. Giorgos our driver, was great and helpful. He made very good suggestions to accommodate my injured ankle. We enjoyed our trip very much and Giorgos drove very well, it was a lovely smooth ride in the Mercedes sedan.

Meteora is a must see/do, the breathtaking scenery and serene atmosphere is a nice retreat from the busy city of Athens. We had such a wonderful time, the pick up and drive were fast and comfortable. The Monasteries themselves have been the highlight of the trip. Having our driver able to drop us off and pick us up at the entrances when we were ready made the private trip totally worth it in the heat. Loved it!

We booked three consecutive days of private tour with Crispy Local and this is the last day. Like the previous trip, enjoyed also this trip with Dimitris as our driver. 🙂As expected from previous experience, he is so knowledgeable and shares gladly with us information about the areas we pass by. We also covered different topics of Greek life. So interesting! The benefit of taking private tour is one can really take good time to walk around as one visit different places. In addition, there are so many unique places (with narrow, downhill, uphill roads) that we visited that we would not otherwise visit with a big, guided tour. One of the most memorable parts of the trip for me was seeing ancient copies of Codex from the four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in Meteora. As previously commented in my other reviews, for all three days that we did the tour with Crispy Local, both drivers (Harry and Dimitris) are welcoming, informative and the whole tours were handled professionally. I highly recommend Crispy Local. 🙂

Wonderful full day. Amazing knowledgeable and very helpful Nathan was my guide and excellent driver. Fantastic scenery and great inside local knowledge re monastery sites. Highly recommend spending the money and saving time with this service. There are many large coach trips with lots of people This is the perfect experience witnessing Meteora.

Our entire family had such an amazing experience! All 6 adults and 2 kids absolutely loved the history lesson George gave us on the drive - making the long drive actually enjoyable. He explained the history of meteora and everything we saw along the way, even stopping in some scenic spots along the way! Absolutely recommend!!!!!

It was approximately a little less than a four hour car ride each way, but the experience was totally worth it. Our driver Georgios was friendly and very informative, and his car was quite comfortable. He was very accommodating as far as stopping whenever we wanted for food or photo shoots at scenic locations. We visited three different monasteries, and while we had a favorite, each one was most enjoyable. The views were terrific and the monasteries were so interesting. It was a once in a lifetime experience for us, and we are very happy we decided to include this trip in our itinerary'
