We got tickets good for 2 days. There are 3 routes, city center, beaches and harbor. We went on 2 of them. The narrative should start before you are at the location they are describing.

Reviews
It was very interesting seeing so much of downtown Athens. Our only problem was finding the stops for the Blue Line near our hotel.
Wonderful way to see Athens highlights without the hassle. I love the beach line. Highly recommend to anyone traveling who’s pressed for time.
We took the bus on the first day to get the lay of the land. We were able to better plan our site visits. Riding the tour Bus in Greece for ~$15 was cheaper and easier than taking a taxi. Of course it took a little longer to get to some places, but on a day to visit the Parthenon, it was great to ride up to the entrance.
Starts at the cruise ships so you need to walk 30 mins or take a taxi depending on where you’re staying. No a lot to see and lots of traffic!
This was so easy to book on the Viator website and the follow up information was excellent. I chose this particular tour company as it was the best option for me as I was on a cruise and so only had a few hours on shore. This company offers a pick up at the port and then a switch of busses at the Acropolis for a tour of Athens all included in a 24 hour ticket whereas with other companies you need to buy a 48 or 72 hour ticket. The bus was so easy to find as it waits just outside the gates of terminal A it then collects at B and C. Highly recommended.
We did this our 1st day. It was great to get a sense of the city. We went back to our hotel and back on to do the other lines later in the day.
Found it hard to locate the pickup locations. They should be closer to hotels since most travelers are staying in one of them
Headphones did not work well Got to see different areas that you might not get a chance to see Beach area was beautiful
The tickets are easy to use, and the bus tour covers all the main highlights. The audio commentary is informative, and headphones are provided for a comfortable listening experience.
Very easy way to explore all the important architecture in the city with very good commentary and convenient stop at the port for cruise passengers.
Exactly what I wanted...to see the city of Athens.
Total waste of time, picked up of a cruise ship at Piraeus port and after around 15 minutes told to get off bus (no reason given). Got on another bus which just went around Athens city stopping every 10 seconds because of traffic. Trying to listen to commentary to find out where we were and going to, but volume was low and wouldn't turn up. Eventually had to get off to find a toilet and then spoke to an employee who turned up at the stop. informed him that due to time we had to get back to the port. He told us which bus to get onto next and it would take us to the Acropolis where we would have to change buses again to get one to the port. Only site of any interest was the Acropolis but due to time didn't have time for a closer visit.
We never had the experience. The pick up information was not clear at all and we walked and waited for over hour to no avail, so we and another pair left
We bought a buy the 48 pass for a four line route. The traffic is extremely high in Athens, so would recommend if not in a rush. Cruise ship days, more buses are running, due to high volume of passengers.
Buses can be confusing when you start. It’s great to be able to get off at sights to see what you want to see up close. The information is great and our headphones worked well. We only used the Athens route. It may be worth paying for the entrance to some attractions, they are expensive and you have to book entry times. Especially to the Acropolis.
This was the simplest way to get from the cruise port to the Acropolis and at an affordable rate. The tour along the way was also great, to see where the Olympic games were held and other historical sites. The bus was easily accessible on the way back to the port.
The bus took us around Athens and pointed out points of interest. The guided tour plugs in the bus did not all work, were difficult to hear and not much history or commentary. We got a good overview of the city, but traffic was so heavy that it took a long time to go around - we just rode bus and took the port bus also to see where our ferry would be
Very crowded but we were there on a Sunday. Interesting with good commentary. Very good deal on price from Viator
Great way to get around the city and the beaches. Highly recommend.
This is a great way to get around the city and main attractions at affordable cost! The rides are comfortable and runs on time.
Buses are very old. The stops are not clear on map the stops name in the map are not the same as they pick up on port
Hop on hop off bus this one has 3 routes. We took it to the beach area. Nice ride Except for the return. No signage anywhere for bus pick up. It was also 25 minutes late!
The best and most affordable option we found to get from the port to the city and around the city. Everything worked smoothly and was very easy to use. Highly recommend!
The bus needs major improvement in terms of Air Conditioning and every bus to be equipped with a roof.
The bus did arrive quickly and there were plenty of them. The audio tour ports didnt work for 2/5 members and the “tour”was just a few sentences here and there and then lots of fuzz. It was also VERY hot inside and the sun shade was not up on the upstairs section so that was not an option. I would not return.
It was very easy and organized. The booth was right outside the cruise port and the bus stop right around the corner. Traffic was heavy, but our bus driver made sure we git on the right bus back yo get to the port on tune because traffic was making coming back hard to connect. Great trio.
Terrible, no guide book, terrible audio no good for me. They never responded to my text messages regards to meeting location
Very deceiving description. There are different color bus lines. Unfortunately the one we picked had a bus with inside seats(very few) and the air conditioner was not working. It was extremely hot in Athens. We were expecting much more details in the tour, we had headphones, it played mostly music and only gave brief explanations at each stop. There was no real history of the city, of Greece. We've been on these tours in every city we visit, hoping to learn where we are. This was not the tour for that. Extremely disappointed.
Took the blue line from the cruise port. This was a complete waste of time as the traffic so bad it took more than an hour to get to a spot where we could transfer to the orange line. We got off and decided to just walk around. The traffic in Athens makes this bus tour impossible.
Blue line bus, which was Gray line we waited 2 1/2 hours at the port and we never got picked up and then the next day we tried we saw they totally went by the port and we’re very disappointed. The best drivers for the most part did not speak English, or pretended not to except for the last two drivers we had on the last day were excellent, and it really helps that you have somebody to navigate people when they get off the buses and onto the next line.
It’s very basic, very little history shared. I had to exit and transfer to another bus twice due to their routes.
Gray Line Hop On/Hop Off Bus. We booked this because the Gray Line buses run a little later at night than the other company's HO/HO bus. (which can also be booked on Viator). This was nearly a complete waste. First, it was a very hot day and the AC did not work on any of the buses we rode. (three or four of them). Second, on the orange route (the circuit around Athens), two buses broke down leaving us to have to wait 20 minutes in the 98F heat for the next bus to come along. Then when we finally got on the bus, the driver invariably stopped at the next stop for a cigarette break, or to chat with a colleage, or whatever. The effect was to insure that it would take 20 minutes to get from any one stop to any other stop. In the end, we needed to get back to our ship docked in piraeus and we elected to pay a cab 45€ to take us there and felt good about it because we were certain that the Gray Line buses would have taken 60-90 minutes to get back to the cruise port and the cab took about 15 minutes. This was so awful that I wouldn't recommend it to someone I didn't like. As a caveat, we have ridden HO/HO buses in many other places and never had an experience this awful.
Athens is beautiful and offers a lot to tourist. This was a good tour. Wished we had an explanation of what to do on each island before we got off the boat. Each island everyone just took off in their own direction to explore. Was a bit disappointed to learn that we were not exploring the second island called Mono island, since it is uninhabited. Travelers were given the opportunity to jump out and swim / snorkel in the middle of the open waters while the boat stopped. This was great for swimmers. Enjoyed my time on Agristi island. Meal prepared for guest was great.
We always book a hop on hop off tour in any major city we visit. It's a great way to see the major attractions and provides great transportation around the city.
Great deal to get around Athens, stops at all tourist sites. Guides at stops are very helpful & friendly, drivers that don’t speak English do their best. Highly recommended
Perfect way to see the highlights of the city the top was on for shade to you didn’t have full sun and buses ran often
I always like cityseeing bus. It was interesting and useful information about Rome. Only one thing I don't like: 30 minutes wait time between busses.
The bus ride was as expected. What you can do better is give the customer information on what the stops looked like and where the stops are so you can board for the first time. Also initially had no map of the route. Happened into an attendant by accident at the first stop where he scanned my ticket, gave me a receipt which I used subsequently to get back on the bus. Also, had no idea what the ear phone situation was which is necessary to understand where you are and where you are going to cross with the map. Sales was easy but post support/information was lacking. The attendant did a good job of explaining what to expect.
For some reason we were booked onthe red bus but put on the blue gray line bus? The audio was all static ,seats cracked and so worn out. Seats uncomfortable. There was no shade covering onthe upper deck. It was dusty and dirty . Downstairs level Airconditiong barely working. The driver was on his mobile phone screaming so loud no earbuds it completely covered over the crackly un comprehendible audio. We waited over a half hour at certain stops as the red hop on hop off busses were passing us by This was my worst experience ever on a hop on off tour of a city. I use them every where I travel to.
Excellent service, helpful guides, bus was obvious and easy to find. Air conditioning down stairs and informative. Perfect for getting around Athens on a hot day.
Great way to tour Athens and see the "it" spots. Much cheaper through Viator than when you arrive. Air conditioned on the bottom of the buses and great breeze on top!
Great way to explore Athens and surrounding area when your time is limited. We were able to see the historical sites, get commentary on the bus, decide what was worth getting off the bus for exploration. The hosts were also helpful in guiding us where we wanted to get off based on what we were looking for or what we to do. We were able to take all 4 lines in one day!
The meeting points.are.not.easilt.advertised.or.found for the different lines Customer.support.is slow to respond.
A good way to see Athens. Smash out the route then work out where you want to go. Be mindful that places like the Acropolis can be very busy and easily take 2 to 3 hours (with queues)
We bought tickets on a whim while on a cruise. Very polite people and happy to help us. On the way back to the ship, there was an accident involving a car whose driver crashed almost into us. Our driver was very professional; he made sure everyone was ok and went out to help the other driver and stop traffic before anything worse happened. At the beginning, we weren't sure what was going on, but he asked us to stay on the bus for our safety and then called the police and an ambulance. This is something we rarely see back home, and it turns out Greeks are very welcoming and also ready to help one another in difficult situations! Kudos to the driver and the company.
If you are visiting via a cruise ship this is a perfect way to see the sights. The bus has a stop at the port making it easy to get around for a great price.
We had to change vehicles when our bus broke down. We have been on other hop on hop off buses elsewhere. We got a lot more audio information. It was adequate, but just OK…
First bus sound system very poor and impossible to understand the speech. 2ndbus, much newer and audio much improved
Very accessible, filled with tons of interesting information. And goes to every sight you’d want to see in Athens! Couldn’t have made a better choice.
