Bianca gave me and my wife the absolute best food tour we’ve ever had. We were in Athens for our honeymoon and she amplified our experience with her intimate knowledge of the city, the food, and Greek culture as a whole. We cannot recommend her enough. Well worth the price. The tour was 4 hours and by the end, we felt like we were having a meal with a family member. She gets all the stars. 10/10

The colorful Athens Agora (also referred to as the Varvakios Market), the highlight of the vibrant Athinás market district. An extraordinary sensory and gastronomic delight, the market offers an amazing range of spices, cheeses, olives and deli treats. The most impressive part of it being the historic meat, fish and fruit market, offering an incredible variety of fresh products from all over Greece and the world.
In the beautiful Kotzia Square (situated just outside the ancient Acharnian Gate of Classical Athens), you will enjoy a cup of traditional Greek coffee in one of the oldest coffee shops in Greece.
The busiest commercial street of Athens is ideal for walking after having tasted the traditional souvlaki!

John took us to several eateries throughout Athens. The food was delicious and he did a great job explaining the history behind each item and its significance in Greek culture. We even got to go through a street fresh fish and meat market with hundreds of vendors.
John did a fantastic job! We love the food and he did a great job not only with the food, but giving us history of Athens.
Thank you, Biannca, for an extraordinary experience—we can’t wait to return and explore more with you! Excellent tour.
Our experience was nothing short of wonderful. Blanca took time to explain what each experience was and why it was so important to the people of Greece. She explained how to determine which olives were from the region. She was so comfortable to be with. We even determined that we had similar up brings even though we were from two totally different parts of the world. We learned, laughed, and left as friends.
Bianca was a wonderful guide, giving us a solid historical background for Athens in addition to sharing delicious foods of the region, a walk through the city streets, and an overview of the fantastic street art. She was personable, knowledgeable, and exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend her food tour.
Our guide, John, was excellent. He took us around the northern and Western sides of the acropolis. We stopped at several spots that he knows to eat local food. We also went to several churches and he told us about the history of Greece and it's churches. It was a wonderful experience.
This was a 5 star experience. Our guide Bianca was knowledgeable and fun. We loved experiencing all the food delights of Athens. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Athens first time and wanting fresh local cuisine.
This was, by far, our favorite tour while in Greece. Bianca was our guide. Not only did she take us to places to try authentic and delicious Greek foods and teach us about the Greek history of Athens, but had us laughing the entire team. If you take this tour, ask for Bianca!
This was a fantastic food tour. We learned so much from our knowledgable guide John regarding Athen’s history, culture, different eras and how these impacted the wonderful authentic food we enjoyed. It was a fun filled stroll and one of our favorite tours among many great tours we enjoyed on a 2 week European vacation. Request John! He is the perfect blend of deep knowledge, and his presentation of facts is interesting and memorable, yet not overwhelming. We enjoyed being guided through the streets of central Athens, the food markets and Plako area with a relaxed authentic Athenian who spoke perfect English. John easily picked up on our unstated interests and tailored the tour to fit both our interests and appetites! The food was superb and the guide was even better!
Our guide “John” exceeded our expectations for this private food tour. He was so well versed and had a love of the history of Greece and of Athens. He was personally familiar with all of our tour stops taking us to his favorite places. He had us try things we would have never known to order on our own. Everything we tried was delicious and of high quality. Thank you John for a memorable tour in Athens!
So many great restaurants. John introduced us to the markets, the traditional food and he knew about history as well. It gave us a sense of the neighborhood and great food
Bianca and John were lovely and very knowledgeable about Athens culture and history! We had a really great time exploring the city with them- we learned a lot and ate even more delicious food! Would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see more of Athens.
Antonia was a wonderful tour guide who showed us neighborhoods and cafes we would have missed on our own. She not only led us on a Greek feast through the streets of Athens, but she also gave us historical and cultural highlights that added to our experience. Do not eat anything before this tour! There is so much food. From the fried cheese in phyllo to the Greek doughnuts drizzled with honey and the savory gyros, you will be glad you have to walk between stops. We ended our evening with a large assortment of traditional dishes at a cafe in the historic Plaka district. What a delicious way to experience Athens!
Lots of historic information, delicious food presentation in a professional and fun way. We strongly recommend this tour and Bianca as a guide.
Antonia was wonderful. She took us to all the best places. Terrific food. Highly recommend. Good way to start your trip.
We got to know authentic bakeries, restaurants and markets and learned a lot about the history and preparation of original Greek food. During the personal conversations we heard many facts about Athens and life in the city.
We had a large group (7 of us) and Bianca really took us on a great walking and tasting tour of some of the best spots in Monastiraki. Keeping five kids entertained for four hours is no small accomplishment. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to get a feel for the city's restaurant scene.
Our group of ten had an amazing morning with our guide Martina. We tasted delicious Greek food and learned so much during our time with Martina
What I like about food tours in general is the ability to receive a great deal of historical insight into a city while experiencing the culture through the foods sampled. This food tour delivers all of those elements within a several block radius. We started off at the Monastiraki Metro Station in Athens and walked several blocks over four hours sampling various Greek delights. Elements that I really appreciated were that the food stops which were unique, local restaurants, many family-owned and several with more than 100 years in business. All of the food samplings were uniquely Greek foods which allowed sampling of flavors that were fantastic and spices which were unique. Our food tour host turned out to be Dimitrious who is one of the “Be a Greek” company owners and who is from the area. Thus he provides a high degree of credible knowledge from the perspective of a local rather than the other types of guides that I have experienced who are imported contract labor who regurgitate a rehearsed script. He is friendly and knowledgeable. I appreciated the depth of Greek knowledge which he provided and the passion with which he imparted his knowledge of food and history. He is very interested in the experience of each guest. We sampled several shops with small offerings of food and liquor before ending the tour in a restaurant for dinner. We had the evening tour which began at 5 pm and ended a 9 pm. One gets a lot of food on this tour. We left absolutely stuffed. So make sure you come with an appetite. I have been on several food tours in cities across the world (Barcelona, Paris, New York, Bangkok and Amsterdam to name few). This food tour by “Be a Greek” ranks right up at the top. I highly recommend this tour. Thanks Dimitrious!
