Alex was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable about Greek history and culture in depth; he was also easy going and appreciative. The group and van were also nice and small, keeping us nimble.

Itinerary
Start your day the smart way — and enjoy a more comfortable, well-paced experience in a small group from our central meeting point at Platia Karaiskaki. Depart Athens with a friendly trip attendant (archaeologist) by bus from the Platia Karaiskaki and reach Delphi that rises between two terraced rocks, the Fedriades. Delphi is considered the “navel of the earth” and the center of the wisdom of ancient Greek civilization. It was the holiest site of ancient Greek hosting the Oracle of Delphi with the priory of Olympian god Apollo, Pythia who transferred the prediction of the god to the humans. Explore the Oracle of Delphi and drink water from the sacred Castalia spring. If you are lucky, who knows maybe Pythia’s ancient spirit reveals you the future! Walk around the archaeological site with the unique findings such as the Treasure of the Athenians, the Dome of Athens Foresight, the Temple of Apollo, the ruins of Ancient Stadium and the Theater of Delphi.
Then, visit the modern archaeological museum of Delphi. The archaeological findings are kept in the museum from the Archaic to the Roman era, with impressive artifacts such as the Iniohos, the Sphinx of the Naxians and the statue of Antinoos. Delphi is not only history as it is also known for the gastronomy. So enjoy a gastronomy break with delicious homemade greek foodies.
We depart to Athens at around 15:00 making a stop in the beautiful village of Arachova to capture the enchanting landscape. Arachova is located right on the foothills of Mount Parnassus and is a very famous winter resort for the habitants of central Greece. We are back at about 17:30 at the Smart-Eco-Pickup of AMMON EXPRESS, the Halandri metro Station. Join us and feel like being with a friend who is excited to show you around like a Greek!

Alex was excellent. He was punctual, efficient and caring. He is a calm, professional driver and he responded to our small group's requests for our tour with helpful and thoughtful adjustments. On the drive to Delphi he provided a clear and interesting history, which we picked up after the visit on the drive home. Our small group experience was extremely enjoyable. We have no hesitation in recommending this trip.
It is a long day but well worth it. Read up before leaving. Wear good shoes with grippy soles abd be prepared to climb.
Great tour guide and informative trip - an amazing site in the mountains with lots of free time to explore the site / museum and a postcard town stop for shopping and lunch!
I booked a small group tour (max.15) with Ammon Express as I wanted a more intimate experience, plus I get car sick and specifically wanted to avoid a large coach. The afternoon before departure I received an email telling me the ‘small group’ had more than doubled in size and was now on a bus due to high demand. I had to cancel my trip and with only a few business house left I could not find another one, so despite booking this well over a month in advance I missed out on visiting Delphi during my one & only holiday to Greece. Very disappointing. Don’t advise ‘small group’ and then an extremely short notice double the size of the people & switch to a coach!!!
The tour was amazing and Chrysa was a very informative guide that was very helpful and positive. She guided us through the experience meticulously. Please note that the steps up to the Stadium in Delphi are quite steep and uneven. But well worth the climb.
Plenty of time at Delphi and Arschova, we travelled on a Sunday so the roads may have been clearer. Both sites were excellent and very enjoyable. Our guide, Angelos was very friendly and informative. He spoke perfect English and was lovely to chat to. Our driver was also first class and the journey felt very safe.
Absolute scam and zero professionalism. We booked a tour and arrived well in advance. The operator failed to provide clear instructions beforehand, sent the wrong address at the very last minute, and then simply abandoned us, claiming we weren't there. They refused to help or guide us and just drove away with our money. They completely ruined the last day of our vacation in Greece. Avoid Ammon Express at all costs!
Excellent small group, good timings for each of the stops. Delphi is amazing and Arachova is something to see, really interesting place
We were late arriving at pick up due to our confusion, guide contacted us and kindly waited. Vehicle was fine, although occasionally too cold or too warm. Guide provided a lot of information on route although at sites we were on our own. Only real complaint was that there was insufficient time to do both the Delphi and museum visit if you did complete Delphi walk to top. Less time in village we visited after and more time at actual site would have been better.
Alex was very knowledgeable, good driver and gave good suggestions throughout the day. I liked the small group size as well. Only 6 of us.
Good trip - Delphi was fascinating - it’s a bit steep if you choose to go up to the stadium but there is plenty to see at lower levels including the museum
Trip was great and driver/guide Alex was friendly and knowledgeable making the trip very enjoyable. Highly recommend.
I’m so glad that I chose this tour. Aggelos was a fantastic guide on the ride there and back, and I appreciated that we had the opportunity to explore the site on our own.
A most enjoyable discovery of an ancient sire. The guide was excellent and explained everything comprehensively and enthusiastically.
Alex was an amazing guide! This was a small group of 8 people in an 8 seater mercedes. In terms of value for money this was incredible, and whilst it didnt include entrance fees to the museum or the archaeological site it didnt matter. Both extras are 20 euros each. We were very lucky in that the small group got on well and enjoyed a lunch together after the museum in the village of Arachova. We were picked up at 8am, and returned around 6pm. Thanks again for the wonderful Alex! I thoroughly recommend him.
Excellent experience, very knowledgable driver, good breaks and free time. The small group makes it even better!!
Exactly as described. I trusted the driver so much that I fell asleep on the ride back. The museum was amazing.
Our driver was extremely knowledgeable, prompt, navigated the traffic like a pro, and was very friendly. The tour was fabulous and I highly recommend taking this tour!
We had a good time on this day trip. Very nice guide and lots of time at each stop to explore. Nothing negative to say.
This was an ideal tour guide experience for us. The guide used the long drive to share history and details of Delphi. Our guide was a history major. We felt informed when we arrived, and then we were left to tour the site at our leisure. Perfect for us! Our guide also made bathroom stops available, recommended good places to eat, and made sure we got appropriate tickets to the site. Highly recommend.
We had the most beautiful experience in Delphi! Our guide was very friendly and helpful, a very good driver and knowledgeable. We had just enough time to explore the ruins of Delphi, have a look around the museum and enjoy local food in the beautiful town of Arachova. I would love to go again someday! Thank you so much for everything!
Excellent trip! Our guide Dimitra drove us to Delphi in comfortable van with a little group. She was very acknowledged and told us everything you must know before visiting Delphi. Their is enough time for the archeological cite and the museum. Thank you one more time for helping us see the incredible cite of Delphi.
Our day trip to Delphi and Arahova could not have been better — we highly recommend it to anyone interested in an excursion outside of Athens that blends history with culture. * GUIDE. Our tour guide Aggelos was simply perfect. He shared history knowledgeably, welcomed questions, and connected personally with guests. * TRANSPORT. Travel for the 9 guests was with a comfortable, spacious new van equipped with shades, air conditioning, and tinted windows (all helpful with the blazing sun). Our driver was careful and smooth, and very customer service-oriented. * DELPHI. Aggelos suggested we tour the site first (smart because of the heat) and then visit the museum second. Fantastic idea. Both are exceptional. Audio guide was useful in adding an extra layer of meaning to what we were seeing and was easy to access / navigate with my iPhone. Wear good shoes and bring water (clear liquids allowed only at the site). * ARAHOVA. One of my favorite towns in Greece. Picturesque. Great restaurants. Lovely shops. History was again presented by Aggelos — loved it.
Delphi was gorgeous and interesting. The stop in Arachova for lunch was great. Beautiful town and my kids especially loved the lunch and the ice cream afterward. Has the most beautiful view from the bakery! Was nice to get out of the heat in Athens for a day as well
We really enjoyed our Athens-Delphi trip with Ammon Express. The small group size and van was perfect for us. We were able to get to the site at Delphi before most of the large tour busses and avoid crowds in Arachova. We were provided with a link to an audio tour of the archaeological site at Delphi that was very informative, fairly easy to use, and allowed us to move through the site at our own pace. Our guide was extremely knowledgable and provided great information on the drive to and from Delphi.
This was a great tour! The highlights include: - Our tour guide was efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly - As a Greek mythology nerd, I was in heaven in Delphi and the audio guide via phone that was included in the tour was well-informed and interesting - Arachova was a nice stop for shopping and had beautiful views
If you have an interest in the history of Greece and the Gods this tour is well worth it.
I had a really great time on this tour! The pickup instructions were super clear and timing was great! The guide Lydia was amazing and gave lots of info on the way there, and the bus ride was super comfortable. I travelled to Greece alone and booked this because I was looking for safe transportation to and from Delphi and to be able to tour both the site and museum by myself, which is exactly what I got! I came specifically for Delphi so would have preferred more time into explore there than in Arachova, but definitely would not have seen Arachova if not for this tour so I did appreciate that. Delphi is a really special place!
It was a fantastic trip. Delphi is a must see while in Greece and our guide, Lydia, was knowledgeable and friendly. She gave amazing history and advice on where to eat and grab some great beer or wine. Her recommendation for lunch in Meliades Arachova was outstanding!
This tour was a really good way to see Delphi. More time in Delphi rather than Arachoba would be nice as its hard to see the site and rhe museum in just 2 hrs. Lydia is a great guide with lots of knowledge. However my main issue with this tour was that the length of time you are on the coach without a toilet break is inhumane. On the way there we were told 1 hr 30 into the journey there would be a break, it was more like 1 hr 50. On the way back there was no break and the traffic into Athens is shocking so the journey takes even longer on the way back. This is really poor of the tour company to not think this through and there were kids on our coach too, how can they be expected to wait 3 hrs? Not good.
Chryssa was knowlegeable, engaging and fun, and the travel went smoothly. Delphi is beautiful and the whole region around Mount Parnassus is part of the magic.
As the title says, this is basically a group bus tour out to Delphi, NOT a guided tour. If you are entitled to discounted tickets (65+, disabled, kids under 18 or 25 EU) and/or are good with the free HHS audio guide, THIS IS PERFECT FOR YOU. Pro tip: You can get tickets online at the Hellenic Historical Society official website for just about all sites in ALL of Greece. My biggest complaint is the lack of time given to see the site and the museum -- it's just not enough. See the site first and hit the museum on the way out. The hike to the stadium is awesome, but could take most of your time. Definitely will not have enough time if you listen to the whole free audio guide (get the HHS app) -- definitely walk and listen or you will run out of time. Personally, the side trip to Arachova was a waste of time that could have been better spent at Delphi. The town is cute, but mid-week in summer, it was pretty much closed down and the narrow road through the town made it so the bus had to park 10-15 walk to and from the shops and restaurants you're there to see. And again, a very limited time doesn't give much for exploring beyond the walk in, slamming your food and getting back in time. Maybe on a weekend it's more worth the stop (places open), but mid-week was a waste of valuable time. The guide/host was entertaining and informative on the bus leading to the site. The driver was good - no issues. The scenery is amazing -- 100% opposite of Athens. Worth the trip out, but if you have a group of 4+ you might consider renting a car and giving yourself a lot more time for the same cost; less than 4 people, THIS is your best value. If you want more than the audio guide (quite informative, actually), consider a tour with a guide (going to be 2-3x the cost though).
Shocking. After receiving ticket confirmation before heading off on my holiday, I was sent an email saying I must confirm my tickets within 5 hours or they would be placed back on sale to the public. As I was flying qnd making my way into Athens, I did not see this email until after the time had passed and when i sent an email requesting confirmation that my tickets were still valid, the organiser did not respond. I then requested a refund since we did not get to go on the trip and this was denied!
To set expectations, this is a bus ride to Delphi. For the price you get the ride (it is not small group as indicated) to Delphi (no tour) and a stop in a small town on the way back. The town was very charming but if you go make sure you plan to eat. I had other meal plans and there is very little to do in the town and there are no restrooms. If I had it to do over I would have preferred a tour of the site. Most other groups there had a tour guides. This company gives you a link to a website that supposedly provided information but most in the group couldn't get it working. The "guide" that was on the bus basically dropped us at the back of the very long line for tickets and left. Tickets to the site are not covered, the line was over 30 minutes long and apparently we could have used a QR code to get the ticket online but no one bothered to tell us that. I am glad I got to see Delphi. Nothing horrible, just would not book through this company again. One othe thing to note, the route maps took me from my hotel to the meeting place was pretty rough. The bus basically picks you up on a busy corner. If you are getting back later in the evening I would hesitate to walk in the area.
Van was very congested without any air conditioning. Driver was excellent.
Our guide was wonderful! I cannot remember his name, but he was very knowledgeable about both Delphi and the history of the area as a whole. He gave really good restaurant recommendations and even offered to stop a couple of times for pictures in some pretty areas.
We had a good tour. Traffic was bad getting out of town but I realize the tour can't fix that. It did mean that we didn't get quite as much time as we thought. Arachova was a lovely cap to it, though, and everyone enjoyed themselves.
Overall a great experience! The Delphi and Arachova were beautiful and our tour guide Chrysa was spectacular. She was very knowledgeable and gave us a good run down about the history of Delphi on the way there. She also gave great recommendations for Arachova and even for Athens. My only complaint is it says that transportation is a bus with wifi, but it actually ended being a van which made a few of us a little car sick given the distance and the winding mountain roads to get there.
FYI- read the fine print. This will not include tickets to Delphi. I watched a couple not go in because they obviously thought it was (like we did) and were really upset. So if you are budgeting for this- be ready to pay the 20€ per person. Lunch is not included either -we did expect that. So basically you are paying for a bus ride there.
Alex was a fantastic guide! Wi-Fi for the bus was down, and he offered to set up a hot-spot so I could keep in touch with my travel partner who was not on the trip. Two hours was enough for me to comfortably see the ruins, but only just - I didn't go into the museum at all. If you want to make sure you see both, you'll have to move quickly or skip something (the stadium is a long climb beyond everything else, so could be a good option there).
Our tour guide was amazing and super educated! The stop in Arachova was beautiful too, the views blew my mind. I felt like we had the perfect amount of time to see everything at Delphi including the upper sports field. There are a lot of buses leaving the pickup location so just make sure you're in the exact place you need to be and that you ask to make sure you don't miss them.
Small group, tour guide was a gentleman and very informative and patient. Delphi was incredible. Highly recommend
What a great value for the price! Our guide Alexander was awesome- he made the trip. I wish I would’ve had his history of Greece timeline sooner in my vacation to give more context to what I’ve seen. Really beautiful locations. Delphi is a must-see. It was raining in Arachova when we went, but still had a fantastic time and a lovely lunch there. Thank you!
Alexander was a great guide, very knowledgeable and with a good sense of humor. The trip was smooth and easy, and it was clear where we were supposed to go and when we were supposed to return. We saw everything on the itinerary and got back on time. Can’t ask for more. Note this is not a guided tour, though there is an audio guide, and the price of entry is likely not included.
Nice van ride with a group of 8 to Delphi for archeological site that requires moderate ability and exertion for walking on uneven pavement, a large amount of stairs, but worth it. The museum is very nice with a good explanation in the audible and on the cards by the artifacts. Lunch at a restaurant in Archova and then some time to walk around. Enjoyed seeing the country side away from the big city and hear about the history. Instructions of meeting place could be improved with a picture of the corner cafe just outside the metro station.
Well organised, easy meeting location adjacent to metro station. Knowledgeable guide Angel. Enjoyed Delphi site and the museum. Nice lunch after in Arachova. Good value trip.
Thia was a lovely tour - thanks
Exactly what I expected. Friendly host. No extra BS.
Interesting sites, sufficient time to explore Delphi and Arachova. Had lunch in the village. Great views
