George, our driver what very courteous, knowledgeable and took the time to explain every detail. He provided plenty of time to appreciate all the places we visited and made every effort to make sure we understood the history behind everything we saw. The best tour guide during our stay in Athens!

Itinerary
You will walk through the sacred grounds of the Acropolis, with a special stop at Areopagus Hill—also known as Mars Hill—where Apostle Paul delivered one of his most impactful sermons. Addressing the council of Athens, he boldly spoke of the “Unknown God,” challenging the city's prevailing beliefs and introducing the message of Christianity to the philosophical heart of the ancient world. This stop offers a deeply meaningful moment, blending spiritual reflection and historical insight, as you stand where Paul first brought the Gospel to Athens.
Setting off from Athens, your morning begins with the impressive feat of engineering that separates the Peloponnese from the mainland, the Corinth Canal. From high up, you can enjoy the best view of Corinth's isthmus and admire the steep limestone walls while you observe the vessels below you navigate their way through the canal. The Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 metres (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for many modern ships. From high up, you can enjoy the best view of Corinth's isthmus and admire the steep limestone walls while you observe the vessels below you navigate their way through the canal.
Dating back to ancient times, this remarkable feat of engineering—the Diolkos—enabled ships to be transported overland across the Isthmus of Corinth, connecting the Aegean and Ionian Seas long before the canal was built. As you explore the remnants of this ancient roadway, you can envision the lively flow of merchants, sailors, and travelers—perhaps even some whom St. Paul encountered during his time in Corinth. With its deep historical roots and strategic role in trade, the Diolkos offers a powerful, tangible connection to the maritime world of Paul’s era, inviting visitors to experience a vital piece of the ancient Mediterranean landscape.
A short distance from the Corinth Canal lies the ancient sanctuary of Isthmia, once the site of the Isthmian Games—second in importance only to the Olympic Games. Held in honor of Poseidon, these athletic and cultural festivals attracted participants and spectators from across the Greek world. Strategically located where the Peloponnese meets mainland Greece, Isthmia was a crossroads of commerce, culture, and religion. Apostle Paul’s connection to Isthmia is both historically and spiritually meaningful. The Bible notes his time in the area, where he is believed to have worked as a tentmaker, likely providing lodging for athletes and visitors. This makes Paul one of the earliest known Christian figures present at a major public gathering in the ancient world. As he worked and engaged with the crowds, Paul used the opportunity to share the message of Christ, turning this bustling event into a moment of early and impactful Christian outreach.
As part of our journey following St. Paul’s footsteps, we explore the Archaeological Museum of Isthmia, which sheds light on the cultural and religious landscape of the region during Paul’s time. The museum displays artifacts from the Sanctuary of Poseidon, the site of the Isthmian Games—an event Paul likely witnessed and may have referenced in his writings. Working nearby as a tentmaker, Paul used the influx of athletes and travelers as an opportunity to share the message of Christ. A highlight of the collection includes glass panels from Kenchreai, the nearby port from which Paul set sail for Syria. These rare finds, along with statues, votive offerings, and burial artifacts, illustrate the vibrant and diverse world in which Paul lived, worked, and preached the Gospel.
Your visit to Ancient Corinth brings you to one of the most significant cities of early Christianity. Positioned on the strategic isthmus connecting mainland Greece and the Peloponnese, Corinth thrived as a major center of trade, culture, and religion in the ancient world. Apostle Paul spent more than 18 months here, as documented in the Acts of the Apostles, establishing a vibrant Christian community. His letters to the Corinthians, later included in the New Testament, addressed the moral and spiritual challenges faced by the early Church and remain foundational to Christian teaching. A highlight of the site is the Bema (judgment seat), where Paul is believed to have stood before Proconsul Gallio. Standing here offers a direct and moving connection to Paul’s mission, where biblical history comes vividly to life.
At the Archaeological Site of Isthmia, you’ll discover a key center of ancient religion and athletics, deeply connected to St. Paul’s mission. The Temple of Poseidon, rebuilt over centuries, stood as a powerful symbol of pagan worship during Paul’s time in the area. Close by is the ancient stadium, where the renowned Isthmian Games were held. Paul likely witnessed these events and worked as a tentmaker, providing shelter for athletes and travelers. These experiences are reflected in his writings, where he often uses athletic metaphors to convey spiritual truths. Also on site is the Sanctuary of Palaimon, devoted to the patron of sailors—further illustrating the diverse spiritual landscape that Paul encountered and boldly addressed through his preaching.
At the ancient theater of Isthmia, originally built for the musical contests of the Isthmian Games, you’ll step into the vibrant cultural setting that surrounded St. Paul’s ministry. Decorated with Roman mosaics portraying sea creatures and scenes from Dionysian mythology, the theater reflects the rich yet deeply pagan traditions of the time. While crowds gathered here for performance and religious celebration, Paul brought a very different message—centered on faith in Christ. This stop powerfully contrasts the spiritual world of ancient Greece with the transformative message of early Christianity that Paul boldly proclaimed.
Isthmia was more than a center of worship and athletic competition—it was also a pivotal site for major political and military decisions in ancient Greece. Its strategic location made it a key meeting place for leaders and city-states throughout history. By the time St. Paul arrived in nearby Corinth, Isthmia was already known for its symbolic and political importance. Paul preached in a region not only rich in religious tradition, but also frequented by rulers, philosophers, and international envoys. His message of unity through Christ stood in contrast to the earthly alliances once forged here, pointing instead to a higher, spiritual kingdom. This stop highlights how Paul’s mission took root in places of real influence—where ideas were exchanged, decisions were made, and history was shaped.
At the heart of Ancient Corinth, you’ll visit the impressive Temple of Apollo, one of the oldest and most important temples in Greece. Built around 560 BC, it stands as a prime example of early Doric architecture, with its massive monolithic columns still rising as a symbol of the city’s ancient splendor. When St. Paul arrived in Corinth, this temple would have dominated the skyline—a prominent center of worship to Apollo, god of prophecy and light. Its presence reflects the deeply polytheistic culture Paul encountered. Amid such grandeur and idol worship, Paul boldly preached the message of one true God and Jesus Christ crucified, challenging the spiritual status quo of this wealthy and diverse city. The Temple of Apollo remains a striking visual reminder of the world Paul entered—and the transformative message he brought.
At Kechries, the location of ancient Cenchreae, the eastern port of Corinth, you’ll walk where St. Paul once stood during his second missionary journey, as recorded in Acts 18:18. Before departing for Syria with Priscilla and Aquila, Paul cut his hair to fulfill a vow—likely a Nazirite vow—signifying a moment of deep personal commitment to God. Cenchreae was also home to one of the earliest Christian communities. In his letter to the Romans, Paul speaks warmly of Phoebe, a trusted servant (diakonos) of the church there, highlighting both the spread of the Gospel and the vital role of women in the early Church. Today, this peaceful seaside location offers a meaningful link to Paul’s mission, marking the place where his message continued its journey—across the sea and into the wider world.
This church stands in tribute to Apostle Paul, who spent 18 months in Corinth around 51–52 AD, establishing one of the first Christian communities in Greece. His time in Corinth—recorded in the Book of Acts and his letters to the Corinthians—was deeply impactful. It was here that Paul preached, taught, and laid the foundation for what would become the metropolitan church of Corinth, shaping the early Christian faith in the region. Today, the church serves as a living reminder of Paul’s mission—a sacred space where faith and history converge in the very city where the Gospel first echoed through his words.
At Ancient Corinth (Archaia Korinthos), you’ll visit the Bema, a prominent stone platform in the Roman Forum, deeply connected to St. Paul’s ministry. During his time in Corinth around 51–52 AD, Paul was brought before Proconsul Gallio, accused of promoting unlawful teachings. As described in the Book of Acts, Gallio refused to judge the matter, viewing it as an internal religious dispute among the Jews. This moment proved pivotal—it allowed Paul to continue his mission in Corinth without interference from Roman authorities. In later centuries, the Bema was transformed into a Christian place of worship, highlighting its lasting significance in the early Church. Standing at the Bema today, you’ll be in the very spot where Paul boldly defended his faith, a place that echoes with the courage and conviction of his ministry.
Savor a leisurely lunch at a traditional seaside Greek taverna. If you selected the "With Greek traditional food" option, the cost of the meal is already included in your tour price.
Akrokorinthos, the majestic fortress overlooking Ancient Corinth, holds a special place in the journey of St. Paul. As you ascend its ancient paths and walls, you trace the steps believed to have been taken by the Apostle himself. From this commanding viewpoint, St. Paul may have looked out over the city, reflecting on his mission and the message he shared with the Corinthians. Today, Akrokorinthos offers not only breathtaking panoramic views but also a meaningful connection to Paul’s spiritual journey. It invites visitors to reflect on his enduring legacy and experience the landscape that shaped one of the most pivotal chapters in early Christian history.

Spyros our guide made us feel as friends not just passengers on a tour. He was very knowledgeable and proud of Greek heritage . Thank you my friend.
Pablo took the time to explain and listened to what we wanted to see. He was clear with his instructions and answered all my questions. Pablo was knowledgeable and added a lot to all we saw! He was very punctual. I loved his enthusiasm for his country. GREAT TOUR!
This was an ideal way to see many significant historical landmarks from Athens to Corinth and a few places in between. We appreciated the information shared by our guide and the biblical context that was incorporated into it - he was very knowledgeable and kind. While private tours are more costly than a large group tour, the value of not being rushed within a site, not relying on a earpiece to hear your guide, being able to ask clarifying questions regarding the information the guide shares, and being able to ask your own questions about the history and sites easily makes up for it. It was an absolutely amazing day and we are thankful that we opted to take this tour - we highly recommend it!
Alex was a great driver and guide. He had so much knowledge in regards to the history of Corinth and Akrocorinth! We were very comfortable and never felt rushed. It was one of our best days in Greece and we would definitely suggest this tour. Be sure to ask for Alex when booking!
We didnt realize that the tour we booked to Corinth was self-guided. Imtranspirtation was provided by a company contracted by Viator where the pleasant driver was not allowed to guide, which made the day more difficult, given the cost, basically for a ride and lunch.
Alex was a wonderful guide!! He was very informative and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Corînth and Athens and Paul's impact there. Great tour!
Alex was our personal tour guide thought the city of Corinth. He was incredibly knowledgeable and super friendly. We enjoyed spending the day in this beautiful city. Alex made it even more special. We had lots of fun and laughs. I would recommend this company and specifically Alex as your tour guide. Thanks, Alex.
Our tour guide, Alex, was amazing. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip. Well worth the money. We were picked up right on time. We chose an early morning departure and thankful we did. Little to no crowds at every stop. Alex gave us all the time we needed at every stop and didn’t rush us at all. He was very knowledgeable, which made each stop mean a lot more. Lunch was very good as well. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a day trip and learning about Paul’s time with the Corinthians.
Alex was one of the best guides we have ever had. The knowledge he shares is amazing and you can tell he genuinely wants you to have the best possible experience. I highly recommend this Biblical tour where you are able to see some of the footprints that Paul left in the ancient world and the cornerstone of where some of the ancient church was founded.
My family greatly enjoyed this tour and we recommend it to anyone who is interested in the cultural and religious history of Corinth and St Paul. Our guide Spyros provided excellent service and information, including: pickup/dropoff directly at our apartment on a narrow alley, ensuring we were hydrated throughout the day, letting us determine the pace so that we were never too slow or rushed, and even detailed recommendations for Greek desserts.
Pamos was excellent, very knowledgeable and helpful to make sure we were comfortable and informed at each stop! Extra care and information!
This is a great one on one experience. Panos was our driver and he was excellent. Highly recommend him.
Panos picked us up at our hotel and did a great job of telling us about our day plans as well as the history along the way. He was kind and courteous and made me and my daughter feel welcome and at ease. I would recommend him to anyone. He was a great driver and historian. He knew all the history and gave relatable information since we had done a previous tour the day before. He was so kind and courteous. Thank you Panos Angela and Sophia Hill
John was a superb tour guide. He paid personal attention to our requests and was careful to make sure we had a well paced and meaningful time. It was wonderful to hear him share on the biblical accounts as we traveled in the footsteps of Paul. We went to the well traveled places but also more unique sights that may be missed by other tour guides such as the road the apostle Paul took from Corinth to the harbor in Chenchrae.
Our tour guide Spyros was the best. He was very informative and he knows his history. He was an excellent guide that went above and beyond to take special care of us. He made our trip the best! He even educated us on things we didn't know. We highly recommend this tour to Christians and history buffs alike.
Nice, enjoyable experience. Our driver Costa from myathenstransfers was superb. Very knowledgeable, . We had a good time. We will absolutely do this again if we get the chance to travel with Costa.
Alex was a fantastic driver and guide. He was incredibly knowledgable and taught us the history and cultural significance of each site. He also helped provide the context of the apostle Paul’s journey in an informative narrative that helped us learn a lot My wife and I enjoyed this tour and learned so much. We highly recommend this trip and Alex. We are grateful for having him as a guide as he exceeded our expectations!
Alex taught us so much about Greek’s history. He is polite and easy to understand. He is a safe driver. Alex is very patient, giving us all the time we wanted at each site. I highly suggest asking for Alex when planning your tour
A wonderful day in Corinth with our guide, Alex. His love of Greece and the countries' history is contagious. We learned a lot, saw more than we expected to see, and would mot change a thing. Beautiful Grecian memories! Thank you!
The trip was great. Alex was our guide and made the experience truly unforgettable. He provided with a perfect pace for the trip with enough time to enjoy each place of interest but also having us back on time to the hotel. He ensured to give us good information all throughout the drive and took us to have a delicious lunch. He was kind and thoughtful to have wTer both cold and room temperature in his car and even made time for a stop so we could get a coffee at the start of our trip. We definitely recommend 4the trip and Alex
This was a very nice, private car tour for my wife and I. George, our driver, was top notch in all respects - speaks great English, understands his history, keeps it interesting as we drive along, and was very accommodating to us in every respect. The car was perfect, plenty of room, clean, a/c and comfortable. We were able to see all the sites offered on this tour. We especially enjoyed Ancient Corinth, but all of it was very enjoyable and worth it. Private tours provide a lot of advantages, most importantly avoiding the large crowds. I recommend it.
This is a self-guided tour. The driver gives info about the area, a time limit to meet and then you explore on your own. There is lots of travel involved so be aware of departure times for cruise ships!
Very interesting. Brush up on Greek history before hand for a better experience. Panos was very pleasant, courteous, and respectful. He was a wonderful tour guide.
My wife and I traveled with Panos and we went on the “Biblical Ancient Corinth: St Paul’s Journey Tour. We traveled to several sites where Paul traveled in his early ministry including ancient Corinth and an archaeological site and museum where Paul lived and worked making tents for the people visiting the Isthmus Games. Most of the time there was a brief explanation by our guide and then we were sent in to the site where we were required to read the information provided at each of these sites. We would have like there to be much more information and storytelling coming from our guide instead of simply reading the information on a signboard. The sites themselves were interesting but we would have liked more stories and biblical references from our guide to tie all the information together and to bring more life into the amazing story of Paul’s Evangelical Journey. Mike and Carol
We covered a lot of territory in the 8 hours we spent with Panos. He managed our time well so that we were able to see everything we wanted to see without feeling rushed. We got a good feel for ancient Corinth and the surrounding area. We loved our driver/guide Panos. We highly recommend him and this tour.
What a great way to see Athens/Corinth and see all the places Paul went as mentioned in the Bible. George was great and so patient with us giving us time to see everything! A great driver too!
Alex was excellent guide. He answered our many questions and accommodated our many wishes. Highly recommended!
Very well done. Using the private tour we had options and made the most of our time. Our guide was outstanding and very knowledgeable
George was an absolutely terrific tour guide. He was informative, kind, flexible, and funny. his driving was smooth. People seem to overlook Corinth and that is a mistake. It is amazing. The climb to Ancient Corinth is breathtaking and the town itself charming. The ruins are extensive. George was right on time and the car was new, clean and comfortable. Would highly, highly recommend this tour with My Athens Transfers and can’t recommend George enough.
Tour to Ancient Corinth with GEORGE was amazing! His knowledge and sharing of history was very helpful. He never made us feel rushed and gave us plenty of time at every stop. Our favorite stops were the archeological site in Ancient Corinth (and the Bema where Apostle Paul once stood in judgement) and the Akrokorinthos fortress. George gave us plenty of time to hike to the top for spectacular views! The port were Paul arrived was also terrific.
Great tour following the footsteps of Paul in Corinth and surrounding areas. We had a great lunch on top of the mountain.
Had such an amazing time! George had so much knowledge and it was great to know the history of each sites 😊 Check my travel vlog out on my YouTube channel @as.kixi.travels
George was our driver and guide. We were very impressed with his knowledge of history of Greece. We had such an amazing time with George and learning so much about the history of the Greek culture, both ancient and modern. We were so impressed with George, we wanted to treat him to lunch with us, but he respectfully declined. We enjoyed his company very much. In fact, George picked us up from the airport on Friday, January 23rd, and told us about the different tours that we could schedule through Aris. My wife scheduled the tour during my meetings for work, and we had our tour with George on Friday, January 30th. Not only was it a beautiful day, it was a beautiful experience, and we highly recommend it 😀
This was such an amazing trip, from the communication with our guide, Alex, to the questions that was answered before our trip. My one thing I wanted to do was to stand on "Mars Hill", they made sure that was woven into the itinerary, Though Alex could not enter the venues with us, he gave us all the info we needed and made sure we had all we needed to understand what we were looking at. This tour can be customized to what is the most important for you to see. This also includes a stop for lunch. They did no skimp on the venue they used. it was a wonderful experience. When I made a mistake on the return time to the ship, Alex went out of his way to make sure we made the sailing, giving the ship our actually tracking info, and communicating with the ship. We made it before the cut off time...
George was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He answered questions thoroughly and has great interest in history. His kind demeanour made the trip very enjoyable! I highly recommend!!
Picked up at our hotel and spent an awesome 9 hours with Panos. Exceptional driver/guide with extensive knowledge on Athens and everything about Corinth and St Paul. Highly recommend this tour and company.
AMAZING EXPERIENCE! It was our 1st private tour and it was definitely more relaxed! Make sure you contact the company ahead of tome to establish your meet-up point. Also, you get assigned driver, not a tour guide! We loved having all the time we needed to go all the way up the Acropolis of Corinth!
Private tour, we were picked up at our hotel lobby and had an eight hour day together with our driver, Spiros. He gave us a spectacular experience. We were able to see everything on the itinerary at our own pace.
George was an incredible guide for this private tour! He was so knowledgeable, organized, thoughtful, and a clear communicator! We chose to pack a lunch for our adventure so we could see as much as possible. George provided water for the 4 of us and chose a great spot for a coffee & bathroom break away from crowds. What a special way to follow Apostle Paul footsteps! Highly recommend and very meaningful for our Christian Faith ✝️
Absolutely amazing time. We enjoyed every stop. The car was comfortable. The tour guide was very informative and a safe and great driver for our trip out to Corinth. We heard great history on the way to Corinth as well as when we were in the town itself. The driver was very accommodating and patient and just wonderful. We loved that he had a speaker for us to hear him well. Highly recommend!
This was the most wonderful day with our absolutely amazing guide Alex. He was so knowledgeable, he adjusted our itinerary so we could spend extra time at specific sites. He was so knowledgeable about Paul and his travels. Visiting Mars Hill has always been on my " bucket list". Alex navigates the traffic here with safety and ease. Though he does not accompany you into the sites , he gives all the information you need to navigate the site. Visiting ancient Corinth was so amazing. What an great experience. Our meal was really great, and the restaurant choices were wonderful. You choose from the regular menu, not many tours, that include food ,do itthat way. I commend the owners of this company for their choice to do that, it enhances the experience. We were at a great time at each site where things were not so crowded. I highly recommend this company and Alex for the great service, especially the great communications. Alex went above and beyond to deliver a superb product!
Spiros was 10 out of 10. Knowledgeable, patient and kind to our kids. We weren’t starting in Athens, but Spiros generously came to our house to pick us up. He had meaningful things to say about the historical and religious significance of all the sites we visited. He took it at our pace and was flexible when our kids were breaking down. Thanks, Spiros. This is exactly what we were looking for.
George, our guide and driver was so knowledgeable and full of information. He made our experience a once in a lifetime trip with all the places we went and interesting things he shared along the way.
The day trip was great. Driver was knowledgeable. Gave us time at each location. Only thing was the inclusions said lunch was included but we had to pay for lunch.
We took a day trip from Athens to ancient Corinth from Athens. The trip far exceeded our expectations. George, our driver and guide was outstanding. His knowledge of Greece in addition to Corinth and how Paul’s journeys and time spent in the area was impressive. As a side note he did not join us in the ruins as stated in the description but he gave us such good insight into what we would see and what to look for it didn’t really matter. We saw the ruins of ancient Corinth, its acropolis, the ruins of the port Paul used to arrive and leave plus some very beautiful churches dedicated to Paul. There was also the remains of a road they used to transport supplies and ships across a short section of land between seas which again would have been there during Paul’s time. This was a great tour and you will be surprised by the size of the ruins. Great day trip!
This was such a great day! Alex took us to multiple sites, way more than a cruise ship excursion, and still made sure we were back to the ship on time. It was wonderful spending the day with a local Greek person, discussing history and culture and modern times.
Enjoyed this, but incomplete. Note that this did NOT include the guide taking us into the ancient Corinth site for a tour/explanation; he just dropped us off. This was disappointing for the price and we would have preferred an actual tour of the site. We assumed this was a part of the price, but it was not in the scope. We would have chosen a different trip had we known.
Alex was our Private Tour Guide for the Biblical Tour Letters to The Corinthians - St Paul’s Footsteps. Every segment of this incredibly impactful and informative tour was brought to life by Alex’s exceptional knowledge of Ancient Corinth history and the life and ministry of the Apostle Paul. Alex combines his mastery of such historical content with his pleasant and engaging personality. If you are interested in booking such a tour, why not select the best available tour guide—Alex. I assure you that your decision to select Alex as your guide will become as exceptional as the Ancient Corinth Expereince itself.
Alex was so fantastic! He answered all our questions, even the silly ones. The entire day was well paced and we never felt rushed.
