Delphi is an awesome place. It deserves more than a one-day trip. Between the three hour bus ride each way from Athens and the lunch, there is precious little time left for the archaeological site and the museum. There is a lot of walking and climbing at the site, and a lot to see in the museum. Better is to take a bus to the village, stay overnight, spend a whole day at the site and the museum, stay another night and go home the next day. The guide was informative and knowledgeable, as well as low key and unintrusive. The bus was modern and smooth riding, but the seats are too close together. The rest stop going out was good, but the one coming back had only two stalls per sex for two busloads of travelers.

Itinerary
Will see one of the most important sites of Greece, you will visit the Oracle and the museum. At the foot of Mount Parnassos, within the angle formed by the twin rocks of the Phaedriades, lies the Pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi, which had the most famous Oracle of ancient Greece. Delphi was regarded as the centre of the world. According to mythology, it is here that the two eagles sent out by Zeus from the ends of the universe to find the navel of the world met. The sanctuary of Delphi, set within a most spectacular landscape, was for many centuries the cultural and religious centre and symbol of unity for the Hellenic world and seat of the Pythian Games, the second most important games in Greece after the Olympics, which were held every four years.
Between the sixth and fourth centuries BC, the Delphic Oracle, which was regarded as the most trustworthy, was at its peak. It was delivered by the Pythia, the priestess, and interpreted by the priests of Apollo. Cities, rulers and ordinary individuals alike consulted the oracle, expressing their gratitude with great gifts and spreading its fame around the world. The oracle was thought to have existed since the dawn of time. Indeed, it was believed to have successfully predicted events related to the cataclysm of Deukalion, the Argonaut’s expedition and the Trojan War.
Visit of the archaeological site and the Museum where one can see among other archeological treasures, the unique bronze statue of the Charioteer dedicated to Apollo by Polyzalos, the tyrant of Gela, in 478 B.C. when he won the chariot-race at the Pythian Games. This incomparable statue is a representative example of the ”severe” Attic style, certainly the work of a major artist.

Stavros is an excellent guide as he told us so much about the current and past Greek history and culture as well as mythology. I really appreciate it the tour and would highly recommend it!!!
The bus was comfortably. Although they could go with a smaller bus (only 20 people, bus not even half full) would make the journey in through the small villages and narrow streets more comfortable. The tour guide had extraordinary knowledge and tought in a nice way. However, we didn't do the photo stop at Arachova as outlines in the itinerary. They pick up people at several locations but during booking process there was no possibility to chose from.
We had a great time on this tour. Whilst it is a long journey/ full days outing the travel by coach was very comfortable and provided an opportunity to see Athens and the surrounding landscape. Our guide was fantastic, providing both contextual information about Athens and mythological education at Delphi. We opted to not have lunch included and were very happy to enjoy the village stop provided as an alternative.
If you are looking to get out of Athens for the day this is a good option. It may not be for the younger travelers as we did spend a good bit of time in the bus and outside in the heat. The guide was very informative, sometimes more than we wanted to know about current politics but the Greek mythology is interesting .
This was a great experience! A great, fun, knowledgeable guide and really wonderful tour for the price. Highly recommended!
Very knowledgeable tour guide and very beautiful scenery. I paid for lunch with the tour, and it was amazing (and very large portions!). Would definitely use Chat tours again!
The tour was well-organised with bus departure and arrival times kept to. The tour guide had an impressive command of Greek history and culture, which provided very useful context while visiting the museums and sites. Highly recommended!
Our tour guide, Vicky, was amazing! She told us about all major cities along the way, major stops in Istanbul, Greek mythology and history. When there was down time, she taught us Greek words and recommended dishes to try. The site was amazing, she had a schedule for us to follow, but was okay if we were a little late returning to things because we were doing our own thing. She honestly made our trip amazing!
The audio system was very bad, we could hardly understand what the tutor guide. We had to skip our lunch and went back to the museum to go over ourself.
Nice trip. Good host. good countryside experience and views. The guide was good with explanations. Watch out for the season - was hot when we went
Excellent location and great guide. The quaint towns on the way were also pretty. We had lunch in the town.
The guide gave a brief 2 minute speech at beginning and was silent for the two hour ride to site! (Would’ve been a great time to tell about the people and land of Greece.)He was knowledgeable, about the site but lifelessly boring, impersonal and aloof! He was often on his phone when walking from place to place and unavailable at stops or free time!
The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable of Greek history and Delphi. He added some humor too which made the trip enjoyable. He was very caring about the needs of the guests. My recommendation is to start the trip at 8 am rather than 8:30. The total trip time was 10.5 hours, 6 hours were on the bus.
Delfi is a fantastic place and the guide was very kind and helpful. If you are looking for a simple solution to visit this important archaeological site but don’t want to hire a car this is a perfect solution. The bus ride is about 2 hours from Athens city center.
The guide was extremely knowledgable on Greek history. She was very well organised with a large group of tourists. I would recommend the tour.
I did this tour with my two teenagers. I’m so glad I decided to book this tour with a licensed guide instead of having a driver take us on a private tour to Delphi at double the price. The guide makes this tour. She was not only very knowledgeable but explained things in an almost a storytelling way that made it very easy to understand. So glad we visited the oracle to have the oracle tell us an oracle.
Tour was excellent. The tour guide we had was exceptional. If there was a downside it was that lunch was quite late, otherwise it was excellent.
The trip itself was magnificent and I could not imagine the tour with our guide (I forgot her name! I’m so sorry!), she knew everything about the history of Greece, which for me was the best part. On the bus ride there she told us amazing historical facts that I was not even aware of (and I’ve read a bunch of books, including all of Herodotus’ histories) regarding the Battle of Marathon, the Pelopponesian Wars, the Battle of Thermopylae as well as the mythology and etymology of a lot of the words . . . Her knowledge was impeccable!! Not only that, but my dumbass left my sketchbook at the rest stop (my responsibility) and she was amazingly kind enough to stop on the way back, she did not have to do that, and I am eternally grateful. Like I said I could not imagine our trip without her . . . So amazing . . .
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertained us with great stories. I would have liked more free time to explore the rest of the site and spend time at the museum. We walked up to the stadium and then had no time to visit the museum. There was one family that did not come back to the bus on time. Everyone else waited/wasted an extra 30 minutes on the bus which could have been used to explore. The family didn't even apologize.( I wish we had left them behind.) Otherwise, we enjoyed the trip very much.
Excellent tour guide who made the tour a great learning experience. Not only did we learn a lot about Delphi, but also of the places we'd pass by on the bus. Definitely great for history buffs, classic majors/minors, people studying abroad or just anyone in general! However, I will say the information here is misleading. The tour was in English and French — this was alright, but it would have been great to know beforehand. Just from a logistical standpoint, you could learn a lot more if it was just 100% in one language. It's good to know that they're accommodating, though! The page also features a picture of The Tholos, but you don't get to visit it at all. It was partially bad for assuming it was in the archeological site after a bad Google Maps search, but they shouldn't include a picture of it if it barely gets a mention on the tour, especially since it's what comes up on a lot of souvenirs and to people's minds when you tell them you're going to Delphi. Another thing is the meet-up time. The time listed here was later than what was actually the case. Not sure if this was just for this one tour, but just be prepared to leave your hotel/apartment much much earlier than expected in case you get the message I got. If you don't have lunch included, you have the option between going to the hotel they go to for lunch (14 euros for the chosen meal or from the menu) or staying in the Delphi area for an hour. I went with the latter and definitely recommend doing so. Got a table for one at a nearby restaurant and went to a souvenir shop. There are souvenirs at the rest stop on the way to Delphi, and you also stop at one in Arachova on the way back to Athens, but the souvenir shop at Delphi is the way to go if you want something that actually says "Delphi," and for a better price too. Would rate around 3.8/5 since I would have hoped the information was clearer and more accurate before paying twice as much as the bus ticket you could get at the bus terminal. However, the tour guide really knows her stuff and is really passionate! Can't deny it was a great experience nonetheless. Would recommend for solo travelers, especially if you're like me and need structure when without the friend who plans.
I was disappointed with this tour. I booked a guided tour in English, but the guide was speaking in both English and French. I found this frustrating as 50% of what was being said was meaningless to me and it slowed down the tour. I did not stick with the guide for the museum. I choose the option without lunch, the town was nice to explore and had plenty of lunch options.
Hearing such a thorough history and applying learned info to the actual ruins - followed up by the guided museum tour made it a valuable, memorable, worthwhile tour.
Dominque, our tour guide, was highly knowledgable about the history of Delphi. She provided clear instructions and gave us some free time to explore Delphi. The van to Delphi was quite small, but OK if you are a short person.
The scenery was stunning, and the guide was very professional and extremely knowledgeable about the region
It was an enjoyable and informative day! Our guide was knowledgeable and helpful. I wish that there was better organization in the morning. We left Athens about a half hour late, cutting back on our time in Delphi.
We loved our tour of Delphi and our guide, Rikki. We wished for a little more time in the museum, but we learned so much history from this experienced, educated guide.
The guide was outstanding. Very beautiful scenery. Trip was a little bit long. Traffic in Athens was bad.
Our guide - “Vikki “ was the best we’ve had - knowledgeable and humorous. Excellent English. Five stars.
This trip was amazing! Really informative, and relaxed I even got to see Athena temple as I asked if I skipped lunch! Totally recommend this trip and it wasn't rushed at all The coach even dropped people off near were they were staying Fantastic I loved it! Don't listen to any negative reviews!!
The guide was wonderful in giving information about the route we took, the Delphi ruins, and the museum. The ruins a b d the history thete is amazing
Delphi was amazing and worth the visit. The guide is still learning English so there were a lot of pauses and monotone descriptions with limited information. If there was a free audio tour option, it would have been preferred to the guide.
Tour would have needed another hour. Didn't really feel like you got the full experience. For me a trip solo without a guide would have been better. The guide was good and all but just not long enough.
Highly recommended Joy , our tour guide ! She was amazing and our driver was fantastic! Thank you for an amazing tour .
This was an outstanding experience - Joy our tour guide was the best part of the trip. Estedes (sp?) our driver was also top notch. Learned so much and was a great value - a great one day trip from Athens.
This trip was incredible, worth every penny!!! Our tour guide was amazing, she was super engaging, and as two 22 years olds we weren’t bored for a second!!! You could really tell she loved what she was talking about. I learnt so much and the views were breath taking!!!
The foul continuous gutteral coughing of passengers without masks as well as selfish people putting their seat in a lay position. Avery guide guide and driver , multi stops and admin delays and no reminders to passengers to consider others. Overall interesting place but ever again with a forgetful/ backward organisation that hasn’t heard of Covid.
Our guide was excellent and provided a wealth of knowledge about Delphi and the area. We learned so much! If we had just one small gripe it would be the stop in Arachova. It's a beautiful town. But we stopped at one little shop (because the bus could fit) which didn't have items most people would buy, such large fur rugs and odd knick knacks. I would have loved a little bit longer in this area to look at some of the very cute shops they had and enjoy the unique village.
Effi, the tour guide, made the tour very interesting. Her knowledge about the site and ancient greek civilisation helped us in making sense of the Delphi site and the museum.
Excellent trip, great guide. Best way to see Delphi from Athens during a short trip on a budget. Bus was comfortable, could've been better with device chargers. Really appreciated the time allowed to roam about.
The guide was great! Everything was on time. The tour was very informative. No surprises, all good :)
Our guide Anatasia was very friendly and knowledgeable did her best to make eveyone in the group together and informed. This is another must see if you are in Athens.
The guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable. She made the ruins come to life. The tours was well managed.
A beautiful Greek day A great coach driver and quide which made the journey pleasant. Delphi is a must for Greek history lovers. Wear comfortable shoes and have a drink handy if it is hot. Very steep walk to the stadium at the top of the site but it is well worth it especially for the views. Watch out for wild flowers and butterflies too and be careful taking pics as the site is rough and steep.
The good: Delphi is a very beautiful and histloric location and well worth seeing. The ruins sites are amazing and the museum is excellent. The guide was very experienced and knowledgeable. The challenge: It is nearly impossible to heard 50 people efficiently through these areas. The bus did not have a restroom, necessitating multiple restroom stops in what was already a long road trip.) The bad: The trip is a very long day: It was 11.5 hours from the requested meeting time (8:30am) to the last return point where we started (8:00 pm) What made this even longer was an arguement between the tour gude (Effie) and one of the participants. It was just before 7pm and the passenger asked 2 questons: 1. What was the approximate time of arrival in Athens and 2: What would be the drop off order to the hotels. In response, Effie got very agitated and said she was not a magician and could not predict the exact arrival time or order of drop off. This loud argument in the aisles lasted several minutes. At one point Effie said the questioner would just have to wait. The questioner at all times was polite. After finally making an announcement to all which partially answered these basic questions, I overheard a comment from." Effie seemingly trying to justify her actions saying "Look at my ratings: I get 5 out of 5 stars. Her rude and demeaning responses in this situation brought her from a 5-Star to a 1-Star in my opinion. Recommendations: If you do take this tour, go rogue. Use it as a means to get there and back. Take Rick Steves' Greece book, and follow his very well laid out walking tours of both the ruins and the museum. (We were able to see all the rooms of the museum at our pace, while Effie and the group were less than a half the way through. We doubled back to listen to her explanations which were fine, but the group skipped many of the rooms due to inefficient timing and missed many significant points that Rick Steves made). Do not take the lunch option (it was medeocre without a view because the curtains were closed due to the sun), but explore the villiage instead and find better food options there.
To be honest the drive there was relaxing once you get out of the traffic. The little town once we got there was awesome and so were the souvenir shops and local eateries. I highly recommend this tour. Prepare to walk.
Need to leave on time at 8.30 or even 8.00. Reduce stop time as not enough time at the Delphi site. It was very rushed and not actually enough time to go to the stadium at the top. Museum was packed and very disorganised. Guide was OK but not very interesting - some interesting stories around the detail would be good as it was a bit boring!! I do not want to shop at the ski village I want to see Delphi!!
Terrible. Be ready to run through the site and the museum, and then spend a very long time at lunch/walking through Delphi. Also one of the couples on the trip was late so we were 30+ minutes late leaving. this was then taken out of our time at the museum. Tour should leave if people don't show. Major disappointment. Find another tour.
It was not mentioned on this that the tour is given in both english and french, one after another. It got quite confusing tuning in and out of the relevant language to get minimal information about this incredible site. We essentially paid for them to drive us back and forth because the tour guide, Nancy, was not very knowledgable on the site beyond what you can read online. She also popped an attitude whenever questions were asked, and admitted herself that she didn't know anything beyond the limited information she gave. The little speaker things kept bugging out and playing the most painful noises very loudly if you moved the wrong way. We enjoyed visiting this beautiful site, but the pleasure was due to the location, not necessarily the tour we booked.
We bought tickets to the entrance when we arrived. But the guide begun the tour, she didn't wait for us. We were more than 7 persons and we arrived 20mn late and we missed this part of the tour.
