Livadeia is a town in central Greece. It is the capital of the Boeotia regional district. The area around Livadeia is mountainous, with farming activities mainly confined to the valleys. The area has traditionally been associated with the production and processing of cotton and tobacco, as well as the cultivation of cereal crops and the raising of livestock. The city is also known for having participated in the War of Troy in allegiance with Mycenae.
Mount Parnassus is a mountain in central Greece that towers above Delphi, north of the Gulf of Corinth. Mount Parnassus offers many advantages to the population of Greece. In peace, it possesses scenic views of the countryside and features olive groves and rolling hills. The mountain is also the location of historically, archaeologically, and culturally significant places of interest (such as Delphi). Recreationally, the slopes of Parnassus provide a medium for hiking (in the three warm seasons) and are skied in winter. Its melting snows provide water to the surrounding communities, reaching out as far as Athens. The mountain is composed of limestone, and its rock contains bauxite, ore that is rich in aluminum. In war, Parnassus has been a center of resistance if need be, providing cover and refuge to partisans.
Arachova is a mountain town and a former municipality in the western part of Boeotia, Greece, originally called Karyai (also spelled Caryae). Its name is of South Slavic origin and denotes a place with walnut trees. It is a tourist destination due to its location in the mountains, its traditions, and its proximity to the town of Delphi. Arachova has a panoramic view, uphill small houses, and the cobbled streets show a picturesque architecture. The town center includes a huge and steep cliff, the Bell Tower, covered with dense ivy. At the top of the tower is a large 10m height clock. Arachova is famous for its black wine, its "brusque", the colorful textiles, carpets and rugs, handicrafts, and woodcut creations as well.
Delphi Archaeological Museum is one of the principal museums of Greece and one of the most visited. It is operated by the Greek Ministry of Culture. Founded in 1903, it has been rearranged several times and houses the discoveries made at the Panhellenic sanctuary of Delphi, which dates from the Late Helladic (Mycenean) period to the early Byzantine era. Organized in fourteen rooms on two levels, the museum mainly displays statues, including the famous Charioteer of Delphi, architectural elements, like the frieze of the Siphnian Treasury, and ex-votos dedicated to the sanctuary of Pythian Apollo, like the Sphinx of Naxos. The exhibition floor space is more than 2270m2, while the storage and conservation rooms (mosaics, ceramics, and metals) take up 558m2.
The Temple of Apollo, god of music, harmony, light, healing, and oracles occupied the most important and prominent position in the Delphic Panhellenic Sanctuary. The edifice with the partially restored colonnade visible today dates to the 4th century BC; it is the third temple built at the same place. The famous oracle, the Pythia, operated inside the temple, the location chosen, according to one tradition, due to a sacred chasm beneath the site emitting vapors, which were inhaled by the Pythia. Some ancient writers state that the Pythia then entered a state of delirium and uttering inarticulate cries, which were then turned into equivocal oracles by the priests. This interpretation is controversial, and has been challenged by scholars such as Joseph Fontenrose and Lisa Maurizio, who argue that the ancient sources uniformly represent the Pythia speaking intelligibly, and giving prophecies in her own voice.

Costa was an amazing tour guide! Incredible knowledge about Greek history and mythology. He shared information with great passion and humor, which made the experience both educational and entertaining. His knowledge was truly impressive, and he also made sure everyone stayed hydrated and had a good time. Definitely recommend him! - The neophytes from Aruba!
I had a wonderful trip to Delphi, made even more special by our guide, Notis. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and truly passionate about the history and mythology of the site. I highly recommend this tour—thank you, Notis, for an unforgettable day!
Our driver, Yiannis, was excellent. He informed us throughout the journey, plus found a vegan-friendly restaurant in the village that was magical. He was super accommodating and very friendly. The tour and ruins were incredible yo see and it was a great escape from Athens to view the more mountainous areas of Greece. 💙🤍💙🤍
Great personal experience and discussion of the sites as well as knowledge of the area! Thank you for a great day!
What a great time, beautiful views, amazing stops! Learned a bit on the way as well. Then a very nice stop for lunch! Thank you, we all had a wonderful visit
Alex was fantastic - knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. A fabulous day trip from Athens. Will definitely use them again.
Peter was our driver. He had a great personality. Very knowledgeable. Very personable. Dreamy eyes like the ocean!!!!
Our driver to and from our Athens hotel to Oracle at Delphi Was Petros. Petros was an excellent driver, arrived early to meet us so we didn’t wait a second, was an engaging and informative driver, and had a cute sense of humor. He found a lovely restaurant for my husband and me For lunch ( (not included in your) overlooking the Gulf of Corinth, the mountains of the Peloponnese, and groves of olive trees. The Greek salad and soup were fresh and delicious. We highly recommend our driver ( car immaculately clean) and his expertise.
The private tour with our driver Petros was a great experience. We weren’t sure what to expect on this tour but all the sites we visited were truly hidden gems in Greece. If you are staying in Athens and want to get away into the nearby mountains, this is the tour to book. Restaurant that Petros booked in Delphi was fantastic with great food and a scenic overlook.
Fabulous private tour with MyAthensTranfers. Our guide, Fotis, was amazing! So knowledgeable and fun to be with. What a great way to learn Greek history!
Must do trip! Delphi is an amazing place to visit: beautiful, peaceful, mythical. My driver Spyros is amazing. He went out of his way to provide the best experience for us. Clean and luxury car. Provided bottle of water. He took us to an mamzing restaurant with beautiful setting and location and great food. Stop for us for great photo spot. Worked with our slow pace. Recommend to leave Athens first thing in the morning to have a peaceful visit. A must do trip when you visit Athens.
One of the best tours I have made, the views, the ancient places, the ruins, all was amazing, is my first day in Greece and it has worth every minute , we had the fortune to have the best guidance with Fotis, he is very kind, friendly and knows a lot about Greece history and culture. Totally recommended 🤗
My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon in Greece. We could not recommend this tour more! The sights were breathtaking and the food was amazing (with the BEST view). Our driver, Takis, was so nice, knowledgeable, and accommodating. He made an already great day absolutely perfect. My Athens Transfers thought of everything so we didn’t have to (food, water, private transportation, etc). Definitely visit Delphi if you like to hike- the views are worth it!
Such an interesting day! We enjoyed seeing the countryside outside of Athens. Vassili was great about explaining things and answering our questions. We enjoyed Delphi - the Sanctuary of Apollo, the village, and lunch at a local taverna set up by our guide.
Our driver, Anthony, was very professional, knowledgeable and keen to assist us in any way he could. The vehicle provided was of the highest quality and perfectly suitable for our group of 8. A guide (Georgia) was arranged as part of the tour, which worked seamlessly and we would thoroughly recommend asking for this as part of the tour.
Our driver Takis was extremely professional and we had a totally relaxing days at our own pace. The sights were amazing and the restaurant he chose, based on a challenging food restriction with one of our group, was outstanding! Van was also very clean, driven professionally and stocked with cold waters!
Had a wonderful day largely due to my driver Michael, he was very friendly, professional and helpful with an attention to small details.
Our driver, Panos, was wonderful. Very friendly and had a great depth of historical knowledge. Took us on several extra stops along the way giving us a very rich experience. Lunch was amazing, delicious food with a fabulous view of the sea and olive trees orchards. Highly recommend, would use them again.
An excellent and well organised tour hosted by Panos. Panos arrived at our hotel before the departure time and was waiting for us in our hotel lobby. The vehicle was large, air conditioned and comfy for the long drive. Panos made the drive very enjoyable by sharing lots of information about the areas we were driving through and information about Delphi so we had a greater understanding of the history of the site before arriving. Panos also chatted to us about our lives and showed a great interest in all the topics discussed, he was an excellent, informative and entertaining guide. We took a short stop en-route at a small service station recommended by Panos, which was very modern with lots of food and drink and excellent toilet facilities. The road to Delphi and through the mountains can make nervous passengers uncomfortable, but I mentioned this to Panos while driving and he took excellent care of us and kept us distracted from the road and even drove more slowly. For a nervous passenger Panos was both an excellent driver and a excellent distraction. We were taken firstly to a small temple beside Delphi that Panos recommended as peaceful. The site was beautiful and the views are amazing. Delphi itself is not the be missed, a truly unique site with an incredible history. The ruins are beautifully maintained and there are information cards around the site that explain what you’re looking at. There is limited shade and the walk to the stadium can be gruelling in the heat, but the trade off is some of the most amazing views and some awe inspiring sites, we left blown away by how such a site could be created here. There is also a museum on the site which houses pieces found in Delphi, this was also very modern and had lots of information and some truly incredible work. Panos was not rigid in our schedule and we spent a little longer on the site than anticipated or than the average tour group. This was a great trade off for us, while tour groups operated with large groups are cheaper, having the flexibility to explore at our own pace made the additional cost worth every penny. Panos met us at the exit and drove us to a beautiful local restaurant with stunning views out over olive groves and the sea. The food was traditional and exquisite, it did not feel like a ‘tourist trap’ with buses full of tourists and mediocre food, it felt truly peaceful and authentic. After lunch Panos took us to the beautiful village of Arachova, we had overrun slightly in the main site so we had less time than we might of otherwise had, but Panos did not make us feel rushed at all and we had a short stroll through the town (enjoyed a quick ice cream) and admired the view! The drive home was also great, Panos chatted away with us on all matters from Greek history, stereotypes and conspiracy theories! He made a long drive after a long day very enjoyable and he made us feel welcome. Panos appears to truly enjoy his job and we felt like friends on an adventure, not paying clients. Panos also provided us with a recommendation for a restaurant to try in Athens in the evening, which was also delicious. All in all we would highly rate this trip. The trip itself is well organised and allowed us the flexibility, personalisation and peace that you can not get from a large tour group. The transportation and stops were all of excellent quality. Panos himself is a superb driver and tour guide, he has an obvious passion for his job and for people which made our trip even better. Comparative to tour buses, this trip will cost you more, however the service you receive will be worth any additional cost. We would recommend this trip to anyone visiting Greece and, if we return to Athens we will book another trip with this company and request Panos as our guide.
My wife and I spent a fantastic day venturing to and from Athens. Huge thank you to our great driver Vasilis! Vasilis picked us up first thing in the morning and we had a lovely ride out to Delphi with a stop for coffee on the way. We drove through the small breaktaking villages and spent around 3 hours at the site seeing the ruins and the museum. All amazing. We then went to an insanely gorgeous cliff side restaurant that had delicious traditional Greek food. Out last stop was a quick walk through one of the adjacent towns with some of the best scenic streets and views we've seen so far in Greece. It should be said that you can absolutely go at your own pace during all of the sightseeing. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone. And again, a big thank you to Vasilis who made the trip memorable and stress-free.
This was one of the best tours we have ever taken. We had Panos as our driver / guide and he really made the trip amazing for us. We stopped one time on the way there at a great coffee / souvenir shop and then drove to Delphi to see the temple of Athena, the Delphi ruins, and the museum. We could take our time and move at whatever pace we liked, and then met Panos after the museum to go have a delicious lunch that overlooked the city of Delphi. On the way there and back, Panos told us myth stories, historical stories, and just chatted with us about our lives. He was the best and he made the trip so memorable! Can’t recommend Panos highly enough!
The trip was great! Me and my wife had a great time seeing Delphi with the quick stop in Arachova. Plenty of time to see the ruins and museum, and the food was amazing! Notis was a great guide and knew a lot about Greek history. He made it a really enjoyable experience!
This tour was fantastic. Tom picked us up right on time and educated us the entire way up to Delphi. We even stopped at a holocaust memorial. It was a very free tour as we were able to spend as much time as we wanted wherever we stopped (be prepared to hike!). Lunch was absolutely amazing with a stunning view. Highly recommend this tour and Tom!
Great mini van v chilled and knowledgeable guide Anthonis. Delphi was stunning as was the museum. Lunch was delicious and the views from the restaurant was amazing!
Our driver, Panos was excellent and very knowledgeable about Delphi and the surrounding areas. He made the drive really interesting and fun, which was a great way to spend the two hour long drive. We liked him so much that we requested him for our second trip!
Delphi is beautiful. The lunch was delicious and the views are incredible. The museum was very interesting with artifacts dating back to 450 AD!
We loved the beautiful scenery and our driver, Vasilis, was wonderful about dropping us right where we needed to be at the Delphi historical site and meeting us promptly when we were done. He took us to a lovely lunch spot in Dephi village and also allowed us time for shopping in Arochova.
The food was amazing, loved experiencing the temples! I wish we had a guide to show us through and give us a bit of a history lesson, however. Our driver, Vasilis was amazing. He was sweet, personable, and found us a wonderful place to eat and shop.
Vasilis was our driver for the tour, he arrived at our hotel on time with a clean vehicle. He drove safely and made a stop along the way so we could get snacks, stretch our legs, etc. The stop he chose was exceptionally clean, well stocked and staff were friendly and helpful. Vasilis explained the villages we drove through and provided all of the information necessary to enjoy the tour of Delphi. While we were touring the site, Vasilis arranged lunch at a nearby restaurant with amazing views and delicious food. Dephi was a highlight of our trip to Greece and we recommend this company and Vasilis in particular.
We visited the sanctuary of Athena and the Temple of Apollo, and it was beautiful! I was feeling a bit down during our tour but George, our driver was so considerate and cheered me right up! Thank you so much for the tour George, I wish you safe travels on the rest of your trips and tours:)! I recommend this service 110%
George was an awesome guide. He was on time, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He answered every question that came his way. The drive itself was beautiful and seeing the ancient ruins at Delphi was incredible. They picked us up from our Air BnB and dropped us off at the airport. Definitely worth the money.
Just came back from our trip with Vasilis and it was incredible! He was a fantastic guide being prompt, communicative and flexible. We were able to do all that we wanted on the trip and experience every moment to its fullest! One of our best trips ever!
George was an excellent driver and very knowledgeable guide. He made the drive very comfortable for our family of four and we learned so much about Greece along the way. Highly recommend!
Hands-down one of the greatest experiences of my travel life. Menaláos was an incredible driver with great knowledge of the area, and a great zeal for life. I think I could have just driven around looking at nothing and still enjoyed our time with him.I hope anyone reading this is lucky enough to get him on their trip. That being said... Delphi was absolutely breath-taking on top of being full of such rich history. The drive is beautiful and the site itself is beautiful. Go early and avoid the crowds, but definitely do this trip!
Bill/Vasilis was great taking us on our tour from Athens to Delphi - Temple of Apollo. The sights were amazing and the lunch at Vakhos traditional Greek Cuisine was the best with the best views. Bill gave us plenty of time to explore and sight see. He’s a great driver too.
Our driver, Pantos, was incredible. He made us feel welcome and made the entire drive informative and entertaining. Take advantage of asking him anything as he suggests! He will give you insights into Greek life that you may be afraid to ask.
This was a phenomenal tour. The temples and museum were very informative about Greek culture and history. The views adjacent to the archeological sites were breathtaking and stunning. Our tour guide, Menelaus, was extremely friendly and had great hospitality. Along the ride he told us unique things about the past and present culture of Greece to give us a modern understanding. If you are looking for a great outdoors activity with family, I would highly recommend. If you go in the summer wear comfortable clothing/shoes and bring water bottles as it can get hot in the sites.
Anthony is a very informative and nice driver. We enjoyed him very much. We think he will serve other visitors well as well.
Amazing beautiful travel experience. We saw all the archeological sites and we had enough time for food in a fantastic tavern. Vasilio was polite and stopped the car when needed.
Spent a wonderful day trip with George & Dimitri. They arrived at our hotel ahead of time and made the journey to Delphi so enjoyable. Their explanations of the sites and history along the route was so engaging that the journey to Delphi seemed to fly by. We stopped at several sites along the way, something we weren't expecting it added so much more value to the trip. Lunch in the local village was amazing with breathtaking views of the country side and lake. My son thoroughly enjoyed the history lesson along the route. We are planning to visit some time soon and will be using My Athens Transfers again. Thank you for the amazing day.
This tour is worth the money. We relaxed while Dimitri navigated the Athens traffic and pointed out landmarks and explained Greek history. He was very accommodating and was concerned only for our comfort. We arrived in Delphi an hour before we were to meet the guide we hired, so Dimitri took us to a cafe to have coffee overlooking the valley and the sea. He then brought us back to the site for our appointment. After touring the site and museum, Dimitri took us to a lovely taverna with great food and great views. He was very helpful with the menu, especially desserts! If you want to visit Delphi, you can’t go wrong with this tour.
Great tour! Tom was terrific - knowledgeable and made the day go so smoothly! He also shared some great tips about Athens. Would highly recommend.
The drive was beautiful and relaxing. Tom is an amazing driver and we felt very safe and sound. Tomnarrated along the way giving us historical information important to understand the places we were going. He was very knowledgeable and was able to answer our questions. If he did not know the answer he looked up the information and provided it to us later. He was also very patient and helped our 11 year old son have a great time too. Highly recommend Tom for this Delphi trip and any other. Amazing. Tips for other travelers: feel free to ask Tom questions. He has great knowledge. Take your time and enjoy!
Our family of 4 had an amazing day in Delphi with Petros as our guide. Really easy and comfortable drive with a lot of great information along the way- great conversation. After we viewed the sites, he arranged for a lovely lunch with a fantastic view. We had debated renting a car and going ourselves but are so happy we opted for this option again. It was a to. Of fun!
We used the Service from the Athens hotel to Delphi, it was a great success. His suggestion of restaurant to eat near Delphi was excellent with magnificent views and unbeatable value for money. It offers a flexible Service and adapts to the customer. Fully recommended.
