We had a wonderful day on this tour. Our driver was excellent and our licensed guide, Panos (trained archaeologist) was phenomenal. We highly recommend adding a guide for this tour. On the way to our first stop, Panos gave us a comprehensive overview of the area and history of the site we were visiting. Our first stop at the Monastery of Hosios Loukas was very interesting. The bulk of the trip was at the Temple of Apollo at Delphi followed by a visit to the museum. Panos provided a comprehensive tour of the temple grounds and then accompanied us into the museum to explain many of the exhibits. We can’t overstate the amount we learned on this tour; it was truly remarkable. We highly recommend this tour (with guide).

Our experience at Delphi was wonderful. A pleasant drive with our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide to the ancient site of Delphi and the time to explore it and the museum at our own pace was extremely appreciated. Our guide made a great restaurant recommendation and stopped for photo opportunities.
Our driver, Panos, was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful in every way. Through the long drive he remained amusing, patient and seemingly tireless. It was a wonderful day!
Highly recommend everyone book this tour with Manos and Vasso. Our driver Manos was awesome, caring (kept asking if we needed water or a stop to take a break), and funny. And we are so glad we paid extra for an English speaking guide because Vasso made it well worth it. She was full of information and kept it interesting, my teens were engaged the whole time of the tour, never bored once! Love the place they recommended for lunch, perfect spot! Thank you so much Manos and Vasso for such an incredible day.
Andreas took us on a private Athen and Poseidon tours. He also transferred us to the train station. He was so enjoyable and knowledgeable. He made us feel like family. After our first tour and throughout our trip he was contacting us with restaurant ,site seeing options and just making sure things were going well. When we arrived at the train station he insisted on escorting us in to make sure we found our train. It was a good thing. Our departure time had changed and we had not been notified there by missing our train. He rearranged tickets for our new departure, contacted our next hotel reservation, arranged to hold our bags and pick us up for our new departure. He went above and beyond. We were so thankful he was there for us making our trip just that more enjoyable. Greece we will be back and Andreas you will be our first choice! Thank you.
Dimitris was the most wonderful driver to Delphi! Great conversation regarding Delphi. Pointing out all and or any interesting sites along the way. We would definitely recommend Dimitris and Olive Sea Travel for another trip! He was the BEST!! Thank you
This was such a great tour! Our guide, Manos, was friendly and knowledgeable. He went out of his way to make sure we got amazing pictures and had a great time. I highly recommend doing this private tour.
Four friends scheduled a full day tour to Delphi with a stop at a monastery along the way. We also paid extra for a private tour guide to walk us through Delphi museum and the ruins. Chris was a great driver and was very knowledgeable. He took us to a delicious restaurant with a wonderful view for lunch. Even with some car trouble on the way home, he made sure our safety was a priority. We made it back to our hotel safe and sound and even beat the traffic due to the delay!
Our guide, Andreas, was amazing. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our trip. The day started from Plaka so the day was long but everything went great .
Manos from Olive Sea Travel is an excellent driver. He has a great sense of humor and loves to share his depth of knowledge. The car was clean and comfortable. He made a few impromptu stops and is a professional photographer (so that’s an added bonus). We had a great day trip to Delphi.
Andreas was very well informed with the history of the area and made the journey most enjoyable as well as educational. I/we would highly recommend hiring him for your guiding and driving requirements.
Visited Delphi, our driver MANOS was spectacular. Safe driver, very knowledgeable, passion about Greece and loves sharing history and traditions. Very knowledgeable. Gave us the perfect amount of time to tour wherever we were, but he was flexible if we needed. Great recommendations for other day tours. Great food, local recommendations the usual tourist doesn’t get to see! Would highly recommend! MANOS was our driver for three days. Would definitely ask for him again when we return.
Had a fantastic day trip to Delphi with Olive Sea Travel! Alexander was knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly helpful!
My husband and I hired a driver through Olive Sea Travel and Viator to take us to Delphi. It took us 2.5 hours for Babis to drive the 121 miles from Athens to Delphi. We had a wonderful day with our driver Babis. He is an interesting and knowledgeable Greek who speaks perfect English. He told us about the beautiful Greek countryside that we drove through. Because Babis is not a licensed guide he could not accompany us inside the Delphi Archaeological Site or t he Delphi Museum. Thankfully the signage was fairly good at both places, so we could understand a lot about what we were seeing. It was helpful that I read the Delphi section of Rick Steves’ Greece tour book. It would have been nice to have had a licensed guide, but we waited too long to request one. Babis was an excellent guide for the part of the trip not inside the Delphi archaeological site and its museum. He is a safe and expert driver, which matters on mountainous roads. The views at Delphi are spectacular and inspirational. It is easy to understand why the site had religious significance for so many years. At Delphi’s Temple of Apollo supplicants asked questions of the priestess know as the Oracle or Pythia. The Oracle’s ambiguous prophesies were interpreted by the temple’s priests. The supplicants made donations which were stored on site in treasuries. The buildings date to 7th to 4th century BC. Although the view from Delphi’s Temple of Apollo is fantastic, the remaining buildings at Delphi are more like structural shells. You see the footprint of the building, but almost nothing in the way of friezes or sculptures. (However, make sure you look for the replica of the Omphalos cone-shaped boulder (navel of Gaia) that marked the center of the universe. The original Omphalos is in the museum.) All the valuable Delphi sculptures, friezes and wall paintings are displayed in the lovely adjoining Delphi museum. The indoor storage protects them from rain, snow, pollution and theft. There are some beautiful pieces of art. Because the museum signage was not exceptionally clear, I could not understand which frieze came from which Delphi ancient building, although that probably doesn’t matter. After we toured the Delphi site and museum, Babis took us to the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia a half mile (?) from the Delphi museum. The parking here is very limited so we were lucky to get a spot. (This stop is not on the official itinerary but we had time.) At this spot lay an older cult site, possibly dedicated to Gaia (the Earth). The site was quiet, with no employees or facilities and few visitors. The views of the mountains and valleys are similar to those at Delphi, but at a somewhat lower elevation. The Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia has a spectacular circular-shaped monument that I found very unusual and beautiful. I did not see other circular ancient structures during our 18 day visit to Greece. This structure is called a Tholos. According to my Rick Steves tour book, many photographers like to photograph this temple/sanctuary. Part of the described itinerary for our tour was to visit a monastery. We thought it might be skippable, except for a bathroom break. We did not know how long it would take us to visit the Delphi ancient site and museum, so we asked to visit the monastery on the way back to Athens. It turned out that visiting the Monastery of Hosios Loukas was a wonderful experience. A month after our visit I still savor the memory of sitting on the patio under the shade of some huge trees, admiring the peace and tranquility of the surrounding agricultural fields and rolling hills and mountains. A monk sat nearby. It was idyllic. We enjoyed a cold cappuccino fredo, refreshing on a hot day. The Byzantine Monastery of Hosio Loukas was founded in the early tenth century. Serving as a pilgrimage site, the monastery likely had a large number of monks in the past, but now has only six. Babis said several years ago a brush fire had approached the monastery but had been stopped just in time. The monastery is a large graceful series of connected brick buildings. We toured the small museum. We visited the monastery’s church. It had beautiful marble floors. Candles were lit. It was a nice experience. We are glad we visited. We recommend this tour to Delphi and the monastery. Ask that Babis be your driver.
Awesome tour! Our driver / guide Alexander was super nice and knowledgeable - great stories and lessons on Greek Mythology :) we also had a wonderful lunch at Delphi with incredible views.
Our day was perfect and our driver was exceptional. He was very qualified to tell us all pertinent information throughout our drive, and his enthusiasm was wonderful. It was the first tour, of 4 and it was perfect! We really enjoyed his wonderful personality, and depth of knowledge. He stopped at all the right places we wanted and he was a pleasure to spend the day with! We highly recommend this tour company. It didn’t say a couple of things that another company listed, but all we had to do was say we wanted to stop, and he did!
Had a great day out with Antonis! He’s a good driver and fun to talk with. Would definitely recommend him and Olive Sea travel!
The driver was very nice and provided good information. The weather was so so hot, and he accommodated changing up our schedule. The van was comfortable for all 6 of us. Great tour!
Had a fabulous time on our tour. Our driver, Terry, and our tour guide, Alice, picked us up at our hotel. We had a scenic ride through Greece countryside to the monastery of St. Loukas, which was very beautiful with amazing scenery. Then on to the amazing site at Delphi. Alice was very knowledgeable about the site and provided lots of information. The trek all the way to the stadium is a long one and mostly uphill, so wear good shoes! July is pretty warm and Terry brought water, but bringing a couple bottles never hurts and there is a small cafe outside the museum. The museum itself is small but interesting and is probably just the right size after the hike to the top. It took the full ten hours; we had dinner reservations in Athens so we grabbed a quick bite before returning back, but if we had had time, the views from the local restaurants looked stunning. The ride back was quicker via the main highway but less scenic; didn’t matter because most of us were napping anyway. But a great tour and worth the trip if you have a free day in Athens.
We had an incredible day trip with driver George, We traveled in a very comfortable van. George was delightful and strikingly well-informed. Throughout the day he made every effort to assure that our trip would be one to remember. That included referring us to a taverna that served us a surprisingly-good lunch. We have gone in many private/small-group tours. This by far was the best we've ever experienced!
Delphi was a long drive from Athens but our wonderful driver Antonis made the time go by quickly with lively conversation and pointing out areas of interest. We first stopped at a beautiful Byzantine church, then arrived through the mountains at Delphi. Athonis could not come in but the archeological site has a lot of signage and the museum is fascinating. Well worth the long trip! Ask for Athonis if you can get him. His English is perfect and he has a wealth of historical knowledge.
A wonderful day trip to Delphi - with a caring and professional driver / guide. We had limited time as we were on a cruise ship. Andreas made the day something for us to remember from the tour information, lunch selection and kindness. As a driver he is super careful and puts safety first - a great day out.
Nasos, our guide, did an excellent job. He is knowledgeable, fun, and made the most of our all day trip. He knows the “secrets” of Athens and uses them to make the trip enjoyable and educational. We Highly recommend Nasos!
We had an incredible experience with our knowledgeable, kind and hilarious driver, Andreas. And it made the relatively long trek to Delphi easy and convenient. The ruins are a must see (especially the theatre of Apollo). ans the added stops for shopping and eating were a delight. Highly recommend.
George was our driver and he picked us up on time in a clean nice car. He was our favorite driver of any tour on our trip. He went above and beyond to make sure we were always happy. I think we even ran a little late at the end of the day and he was still happy to make sure we ere taken care of. He was very knowledgeable with information about all of our stops, as well as areas we passed along the way. We went to the monastery of St Lukas and then to Delphi. It was a long day in the car and George held good conversation, making us feel comfortable the entire time. Delphi was an amazing experience, much less crowded than Athen and the sites ther. The monastery was beautiful and a perfect addition to break up the drive. We highly recommend adding this to your travel plans in Athens. Seeing the country area outside of Athens was really nice!
Great views wonderful Restarant & driver very personable full of Greek history & helpful information about being & living in Greece! Kristos & assistant we’re excellent!
Chris and Manosh were wonderful. Personable and kind. Delphi was all we expected and more. The small museum is beautifully and carefully curated.
Great tour! Private driver was very accommodating and took us to a great restaurant after the tour. Highly recommend. Note that the driver does not go into the site with you...everything is at your own pace.
I loved our experience! George was great, answered our questions and gave great information regarding Greece. This was our second tour with him, would definitely do it again
Petros was an engaging and helpful driver. Practical and flexible, for instance in face of traffic problems. Made an excellent recommendation for a lunch venue in Delphi. Delphi a longish drive from Athens, but spectacular scenery and the site is magical.
Wonderful tour guide and driver. Great lunch. These overcame bad weather. Learned a lot about Greece .
The drive was comfortable and the driver was awesome. We also added a license tour guide who was very knowledgeable.
Our guide was the wonderful Nasos, the best person we could have hoped for - patient, easy-going, and hilarious with tons of stories about the history, culture, and mythology of Greece in general, and Delphi in particular. Felt like we were driving around with a knowledgeable pal rather than a guide, and we were very relieved every time we saw a huge tour bus that we got to just be with Nasos. As for the trip itself, so good to go inland, away from the coast, and into the totally different world of forested mountains where so much Greek history has unfolded. Delphi has been beautifully restored and was wonderful to explore. Museum is also great, and so was the restaurant we ate at, overlooking the biggest olive tree plantation on earth.
We really wanted to see Delphi and Olive Sea helped make that happen. Our driver Christos Louvaris was wonderful. He picked us up at our hotel, spent the day with us, and dropped us off At our cruise ship with time to spare. He took us to the most fantastic restaurant in Delphi for lunch and even dropped us off at an adorable gift shop. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. My only regret is that we didn’t have time for a second tour. Next time we are in Athens we will Call Olive Sea. Thank you!!!!
Amazing destinations. Excellent driver, George was the best! Loved the flexibility of the itineraries and the patience of our driver. A day that we will always remember with joy!
Our driver Petros, was full of interesting information and stories and was a pleasure to travel with. The day started out rainy but he told us not to worry and he was right. The sun came out right when we needed it to! The museum at Delphi was a gem and the feeling at the temple of Apollo was almost mystical. The walk is steep and not for the faint of heart but well worth it for both the site itself and for the spectacular views. We had a delicious lunch with a gorgeous view as well. Our final stop before returning to Athens was the Monastery of Hosios Loukas. It was a beautiful complex with wonderful mosaics. The setting was amazing as well with more beautiful views. All together an unforgettable day.
Above expectations! Our driver Nasios was great. He kept us informed all the way out, was very personable and engaging. His lunch stop pick was a highlight. The actual site was stunning. It was a good amount of walking/stairs and marble can be slick. Totally worth the effort. I’d put this as a don’t miss
George picked us up in a comfortable van and we had a great ride to the mountains. Along the way we had great conversations and learned a lot about Greek culture and foods available that we could stop and eat anytime along the way. It was nice that the tour was fully customizable !
This private tour of Delphi was the highlight of our trip to Greece! Our guide and driver, Lysandros, was an amazing wealth of information about Greek life and culture, and he was a an amazing person to spend the day with along the way!
Andreas with Yomadic Tours provided excellent services and was a personable and attentive driver. He was patient and able to address several questions about Delphi's historical aspects. We enjoyed his fun and excellent communication style. We believe every tourist should take advantage of the services and individual attention we have received.
We had a wonderful experience & time exploring Delphi. Alex our driver was extremely kind, spoke excellent English and a safe driver. He picked us up promptly at the hotel and kept us apprised of the day’s itinerary and traffic time. He also took us to a spectacular lunch and made an extra stop for us to see the Kastilian springs & Arachova. The car was clean, well maintained, and good AC. The drive was stunning with all the mountain and valley views. We had plenty of time (2 hours) to view the ancient site & museum. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone! It was fantastic!!
We had our Tour with Alexander and it was very pleasent. He made sure we had everything we might need while beeing very nice and welcoming. He also explained sights along the way and was very knowledgebal in general about history. He also gave us interesting infos about Delphi and the monastry and recommendation what to do, which was worth it. Afterwards we got a recommendation for lunch and it was delicious with the perfect view. I would definitly recommend this Tour, way more fun than a normal bus Tour.
We just got back from a dream day trip to Delphi. Our driver and guide was Yiannis, who was really wonderfully knowledgeable about the history and mythology about the Delphi and the area as a whole. He picked us up on time at the hotel, regaled us with history and lore on the drive to the monastery, the site of the Delphic oracle, to the Temple of Athena; to a fantastic family restaurant nearby and finally to a scenic photo opportunity near Arachova. It was really a wonderful day that I will never forget. I cannot recommend this trip more - it is well worth the money.
Delphi is breathtakingly beautiful, nestled in the mountains. George, our driver was amazing. He told us about the history and culture of Greece and made the almost 3 hour trip one-way pass very quickly. He never rushed us and took us to a lovely place for lunch as well.
Do not even hesitate to book this experience. Seriously just do it. My friend and I wanted to see Delphi and. Csme across this tour & with the previous reviews decided to give it a try. It was seriously the best tour we booked. Our driver Nasos was right on time picking us from our hotel. From there we chatted a bit about the Greek culture and coffee. We stopped to get a special type of coffee he was telling us about. It was delicious even my picky friend enjoyed it! We continued on our way to the Monastery where we were able to roam around for an hour and explore. When we returned to our van Nasos left a flower for each of us on our seats. Every time we got in and out Nasos was such a gentlemen opening and closing doors assuring we were comfortable and safe. On our way Nasos gave us a book all about Delphi to take with us to read about what we were seeing. He suggested if we could walk up to the stadium (we took that as a challenge) and we sure did! What a beautiful, hot, amazing walk up! We used the book along the way to read a bite about certain things. When we were done Nasos was waiting for us to take us to a beautiful restaurant over looking the country side of Greece. The food was incredible & the staff amazing. We truly loved this little spot for lunch. On our way back we stopped to grab some breath taking pictures. I can't say how much we enjoyed out time with Nasos. He was so friendly & kind. He really made us laugh and learn so much we didn't know! Seriously if you can request Nasos because he was outstanding as a driver for this day trip! The company itself was a breeze to work with and really made sure everything was taken care of. When your paying for a private trip this is exactly the experience you expect and we received more than we expected! Absolutely worth every penny! Do the private tour through this company and ask for our good friend Nasos! You won't be disappointed! Tell him his American girls said hi!!
We did the full day private tour to Delphi and a full day private tour of Athens (made our own itinerary). Jimmy/Dimitri was our driver both days and was super engaging and playful. He took us to an amazing restaurant and adjusted the drive to meet our desires for the trip. We hired a private guide in Athens who was fine but less knowledgeable of the specific sites we selected off the beaten track and then a local guide in Delphi (who was excellent). Handling all the arrangements with the office was super smooth. They were very responsive, helpful, and accommodating of the unique itinerary we wished for our private tour.
George was our guide, he is an excellent guide and and excellent driver. We really enjoyed the tour.
Alexandra and Yanis were great guides. Absolutely breath taking views. Enjoyed the winter of Greece!
We did this tour on our second day in Athens, and while it is a bit of drive out to the site, I thought it was a great break from the city and you get to see some of the Greek countryside. We had a scheduled Covid test (unfortunately) at our hotel the same evening, so we had to cut the trip a little short and we skipped the monastery. Alex our driver was great and provided a nice video about the history of the site that we watched on our way to the site. Once we got to Delphi, the site and museum was fascinating, and Alex made sure we got to see the Athena site as well! The restaurant we visited in Delphi was the best of our trip and the views from the restaurant terrace were unbelievable. If you want to get out of the city and see some more of the ancient sites, I highly recommend this trip!
This was a fantastic tour. Delphi is one of the wonders of the world, and we are so happy that we got to see it and hear about its history. The monastery Hosios Loukas is also a gem. The incredible scenery at both locations makes the tour even more impressive. Our guide Martina and our driver Vangelis were so friendly and helpful and made the whole experience excellent; Martina showed us around all the locations and gave us fascinating information about them, as well as finding us a great restaurant for lunch (with a spectacular view and very good food). Vangelis was an extremely good driver, and even produced umbrellas and rain capes for us when the weather threatened to turn wet! We had a wonderful day which we will always remember.
