It’s a long day. When I booked, it was for an 830 pick up from the hotel. The night before we were told it would be 745. When picked up we were taken to another smaller bus to go to Delphi, which departed at 830. The minibus was not ‘luxurious’ as described. The seat in front of us had a pool of water on it from a leaky sunroof- one passenger had to wipe it down and place a plastic bag on it to sit down. We sat in the back row but there was little legroom. The tour guide was very knowledgable, but not very exciting in their delivery. Unfortunately the weather was awful on the day. Windy, raining and very cold. Not the fault of the tour people, but it made for a miserable afternoon- check the weather before you book! What we did see was still good. The museum tour was the highlight- well worth going. There’s a few nice eateries in Delphi town, so we didn’t feel the need to book lunch through the tour. We ate at Taverna Dion- food was fantastic!

Itinerary
Drive through Levadia and Arachova (famous for its bright multi colored carpets) arrive in Delphi. You will visit one of the most important archeological sites in Greek history. At the foot of Mount Parnassos, within the angle formed by the twin rocks of the Phaedriades, lies the Pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi, which had the most famous Oracle of ancient Greece. Delphi was regarded as the centre of the world. According to mythology, it is here that the two eagles sent out by Zeus from the ends of the universe to find the navel of the world met. The sanctuary of Delphi, set within a most spectacular landscape, was for many centuries the cultural and religious centre and symbol of unity for the Hellenic world and seat of the Pythian Games, the second most important games in Greece after the Olympics, which were held every four years.
located at the archaeological site of Delphi. Between the sixth and fourth centuries BC, the Delphic Oracle, which was regarded as the most trustworthy, was at its peak. It was delivered by the Pythia, the priestess, and interpreted by the priests of Apollo. Cities, rulers and ordinary individuals alike consulted the oracle, expressing their gratitude with great gifts and spreading its fame around the world. The oracle was thought to have existed since the dawn of time. Indeed, it was believed to have successfully predicted events related to the cataclysm of Deukalion, the Argonaut’s expedition and the Trojan War.
Visit of the archaeological site and the Museum where one can see among other archeological treasures, the unique bronze statue of the Charioteer dedicated to Apollo by Polyzalos, the tyrant of Gela, in 478 B.C. when he won the chariot-race at the Pythian Games. This incomparable statue is a representative example of the ”severe” Attic style, certainly the work of a major artist.
Photo stop in Arachova on your way back to Athens.

It was a fantastic Adventure. A must see if visiting Athens It is a day trip so be prepared for a long bus trip. But we'll worth the effort. Our Guide was very knowledgeable. We were his first priority always looking out for us, especially as the site was very busy
Very informative and interesting Meeting time was not clear. It said 830 then late in the afternoon, unbeknownst to me, I received an email changing the time to 730A.M. I didn't notice it until 725 that morning However, they were accommodating and we were able to meet at another spot that turned out to be closer to our hotel. It was inconvenient and disturbing at 730 in the morning to rush out the door without coffee or breakfast. Otherwise our guide was knowledgeable and could maneuver us around a high volume of other tours in the museum. It was a shame we couldn't spend more time there as I've been there before with far fewer people. It's an amazing museum. Lunch was ok. But nothing outstanding. I'd suggest opting out and find something in yhe dropoff town.
It exceeded my expectations for a first day of a first time visit to Athens
Great guide Theodora and driver. Very good pace and so much information which was so interesting. Amazing site and museum
Although it was a long bus ride, our tour guide filled the time with history and background stories. The site was worth the visit for its historic value and intrigue.
It was an amazing day in Delphi. The entire team from Rose to the driver made it a very special day. I learned so much on this tour. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
My friends and I had a great time on this tour, in spite of the blistering summer heat! Our guide was very knowledgeable, the bus was comfortable, there were plenty of breaks for food and rest. The site was beautiful, and the museum was really interesting, especially since our guide took the time to explain the significance of the objects there. I would definitely recommend this tour!
There is a great deal of walking and not much shade, so come prepared. It is well worth it. The guide was very informative and history come alive in Delphi.
The site’s structures are amazing, George is very knowledgeable & has taught us many historical artifacts in the museum.
★★★★★ We took this trip to Delphi yesterday and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Our driver contacted us the night before to confirm pickup, then arrived right on time at our hotel entrance the next morning — very convenient. The coach ride from Athens to Delphi was comfortable, making the long drive easy to enjoy. Our guide was knowledgeable and well-organized, adding great context and detail throughout the tour. The archaeological site itself is beautifully preserved — honestly one of the best-restored ancient sites we've visited. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Athens who wants to see Delphi without the hassle of arranging transport themselves.
This was a wonderful experience, especially for our teenaged grandsons. Delphi is an amazing place to visit; the bus was comfortable and the guide was wise and knowledgeable (he also gave the tour in Italian for a couple); we also loved and appreciated the wonderful lunch we had - delicious and ample. If you are in Athens and have the time, you should book this experience!
Great day out and our guide Joy was exceptional and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend. I probably would have loved a more local lunch than an hotel lunch.
First, decide carefully where you want to be picked up. From my neighborhood, Psyrri, it was an hour on bus before we even began the tour. Additionally it was very difficult to find food at that hour. I finally found some but the bus driver said, “No food on the bus.” Not a good start. Traffic was bad so I ended up being on the bus for 4 hours before reaching Delphi, instead of the expected 2 hours. Unbeknownst to me, the tour was bi-lingual (English/French). I didn’t sign up for that. In fact, I remember it specifically saying an English-speaking guide. It resulted in almost non-stop narration. First English and then rolling right in to French. I understand a bit of French, so it was very repetitive. Delphi was extremely hot, with dusty wind gusts. Part of the ruins were closed due to weather. I missed have of the tour because of the extreme heat. The museum was terrific, but the dual language narration was again a problem and didn’t leave much room for questions. The guide was warm and well-informed. The advertised “4-course meal” was abysmal. Food was not good. We were seated in an empty dining room at table for 4. One man had to eat by himself. The other 2 tables had people who had no common language. Awkward. The last stop at the ski-town was worthless. Most shops were closed. I was given incorrect directions to the view. I realize some of the problem were out of control of the tour group. But, for me, it as a thoroughly exhausting and disappointing day. Not how I wanted to spend my last day in Athens.
Great time, enjoyed the trip.
Anastasia was lovely. Very informative, very friendly and really knew her history. It was also a great way to see life outside of Athens. The countryside/mountains of Greece was beautiful.
Very organized. A nice way to travel without worrying about getting there on our own. Wonderful guide. So informative. It was super hot but Greece in the summer always is! For sure recommend!
Our tour to the Temple of Apollo in Delphi was absolutely incredible, all thanks to our fantastic guide, Xenia. She was exceptionally knowledgeable, weaving history and Greek mythology together in a way that truly made the ancient ruins come alive. Beyond her impressive depth of expertise, Xenia was incredibly helpful, attentive, and welcoming throughout the entire day, ensuring everyone had a seamless and memorable experience. If you are planning a trip to Delphi, we highly recommend booking with Xenia—she is an absolute gem and made our visit unforgettable!
Pick up and drop off were on time. Guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Tour was excellent, and it included lunch
This was a well organized trip. We got picked up on time and taken to another location where we waited for others to join us. We rode in a full size bus but there wasn’t many of us. Our guide gave us a lot of information on the way. We had a snack stop about 2/3 into the trip. The ride was nice. I didn’t realize that it was going to be in two languages so she would speak in English and then again in French. Then when we arrived to Delphi, she took us into the site. It was quite hot by then and speaking in two languages became a bit of an issue because it meant that every time she stopped to talk it took twice as long to deliver the information. We weren’t given enough time to see the whole site. We had to rush to the top to see the stadium then rush back to get to the museum in time for her tour of the museum. Every part of this was good, it was just the timing because of the double description of everything that was tiring. Then we opted out of the lunch and were left in town to find food. We found a cute place but had to rush for a pick up which they were 10 minutes late for. It would have been nice to have a little more time in town. Then we made a quick photo stop outside the city to get a picture- you don’t stop in town like the itinerary suggests. Then back to Athens with one more stop for a bathroom break.
This was an awesome experience, and we highly recommend this tour if you want to get out of Athens, and learn something new! The guide was great.
This was a very long trip but the drive to Delphi was wonderful, alot of historical sights to see along the way which our guide made sure to point out. Delphi was breath taking. The climb up to the temple of Apollo, ancient theater and other sights is a must see. Only downside was that the museum tour felt slightly rushed and we didn't get alot of time to view all the exhibits. The four course meal afterwards was delious.
Delphi is amazing; there's such a sense of weightiness from the waves of myth (Gaia, Pythia, Apollo, Christianity) and its importance in the ancient world. It was therefore such a disappointment that our "licensed guide" did not cover Delphi in adequate detail. They did not even mention the Omphalos! Furthermore, after a brief walk to The Temple of Apollo, the guide decided that the tour was done. The amphitheater and stadium at Delphi are magnificent, and when the group said they wanted to visit, the guide gave us about thirty minutes to cover all of that. We had to racewalk to the top and had no time to take it in before we had to return tot he meeting spot. And then... the guide scheduled less than an hour at the museum... one could spend hours just with the Charioteer alone! I hope this is just a quirk of this one particular guide. Usually guides offer their services, but don't get upset if people want to explore the museum on their own, right? The timing on this tour seemed totally off. We ended up spending upwards of 30 minutes at rest stops and had nearly 1.5 hours for lunch, but were rushed through the stars of the show (the ruins and the museum) in less time. As an Australian member of the group complained, one doesn't fly halfway across the world to be told there's no time to see the amphitheater and stadium at Delphi!
We met at the hotel, took a (24 cap) van along with a small group on a 3 hr ride. AC was not cool enuf (cooler towards the front) and 1 seat belt didn’t work, but otherwise … nice to have WiFi, rest, restroom stop 2 hrs in, tour along the drive. We got there and while little shade it was cooler than Athens & a tad breezy. Uphill hike but left early to seek AC in museum. Then enjoyed guided museum. We got no admission, no lunch & bought our own tickets with the agencies direction. So after site/museum stop they dropped us off at Hotel Delphi & we had a panoramic view and a great lunch for 15 euros/pp. The drive home was also chill WiFi, sleep … NOT touring 5000 steps in sweltering heat . Our tour guide was excellent.
The tour itself is very good. But the pick up and drop off can be much better. We were on the bus for an hour at pick up which took us to a central location where people changed buses for other tours. Drop off too could be better. They should provide an option to be at the location of where the actual bus is departing for the tour. As I said the actual tour at Delphi and tour guide are good. The pick up and drop off added a lot of extra time on the bus.
Very well organized. As informed, the bus came to pick us up on time in the morning at our hotel. Small group and well planned. The guide was very nice and knowledgeable. Lunch was great.
We had a great time and learned a lot, and recommend you run up to see the stadium. We think more time at the ruins would be great but the crowds would make a leisurely tour impossible. We wanted more time at the museum (could it be possible to offer that vs lunch and pick us up on the way back?). The pre-paid lunch was okay, but the chicken was over-dry. People who ate in town were satisfied with their choice.
The guide for this trip was excellent- lots of knowledge and clear instructions. The only real challenge was right at the beginning of the trip, finding out which bus to get on. There were several groups in an area. Signs would have helped immensely.
You receive a brief overview of Arhens as you leave the city. You will have a short stop going up to Delphi. Once at Delphi there is a climb to where the Oracle met. You did not have to climb up to the stadium that was optional. The tour fascinating. The museum had an extraordinary bull in silver and a beautiful charioteer statute. Lunch was a feast with several courses. The ride back had a brief stop to take pictures of the nearby town and a very short stop for a rest break before you head back to the traffic of Athens. It was an enjoyable excursion, but bring your water if it is hot.
Delphi well worth the trip and the bus transportation and tour leader were excellent. Would not drive this on our own. Lots of walking. Bring poles if you need them. Taverna meal looked good. We brought a picnic but may have bought meal if we had known we could order ala carte at the taverna. Trip back good. Sunday traffic minimal.
Walking to the top to see the Stadium is a must and do not get put off by the guide if they say the stadium is better. Both are fascinating in different ways.
Great tour with a great guide. Evie was very knowledgeable and friendly. The bus was nice and the trip was comfortable.
Delphi sits in a breathtaking mountain region. The ruins were worth seeing. The tour guide was passionate, knowledgeable, and interesting. Unfortunately, we all agreed, the six-hour round trip journey on a cramped and uncomfortable bus, spoiled the experience. Even had the bus been larger, more comfortable, it would be difficult to recommend a six hour bus ride for a 2 hour stop. I would suggest looking into options that would allow you to spend a couple days in the area instead.
They sent us to the wrong pick up location, then refused to pick us up, then said too bad. Don’t book with these guys. They are crooks.
Very good trip. Knowledgeable guide. Booked an English speaking tour - it was bi-lingual, French and English. While guide did her absolute best - pretty much impossible to give the best information out when speaking two languages. Feel I missed out by not having what I paid for - “an English guided tour”
We travel extensively, but use organized tours on a very selective basis. Every Viator tour has been a first rate experience, and this one of Delphi was the perfect example. Well-organized: left on time, first class travel with a safe drive and vehicle who negotiated tough terrain. Glad I didn't try doing this on my own. Bio breaks coming and going. Our tour guide Valeria was highly knowledgeable and her enthusiasm for the subject was infectious. All made for a wonderful and informative day. Heads up: It's a long day requiring a lot of climbing on uneven surfaces., so come prepared, dress accordingly. You will go home tired.
Stravos was incredible and full of knowledge. He kept us entertained throughout the bus ride with facts and stories about Greek economy, culture, and history. He did a great job of taking us through the site and museum and was clearly very passionate about his job. Logistics were all handled perfectly. Highly recommend! The lunch option was not bad but I would recommend exploring/finding a local tavern in the town instead.
Take time to shop for your activity to Delphi. A Little more Time in the village of Arrachova worths it. Lunch time is quite chaotic in the "restaurant" (cafeteriat).
Our guide was incresible, the lunch and exporing is something not to miss for a day trip from Athens. A must do!
Great day in Delphi with a great tour guide. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative not to mention extremely pleasant. Delphi was beautiful and very historic. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Helena was a very friendly, competent and knowledgable guide! Thank you also to Ioannis (driver) ;) very nice experience.
The museum and archeological site itself were great, worth the drive from Athens. Sadly, the tour guide, Anthony lacked professionalism and patience. From one location to the next, everything felt very hurried and even throughout the museum, all rushed. There was no warnings we were approaching the museum so even leaving the van felt rushed and we left many necessities for our toddler in the van. While in the museum, it was interrupted multiple times by his personal calls which he accepted. Lastly, we didn’t get to the lunch stop until almost 4 pm, and it was severely overcrowded and also lacked decent food or service (waited over 30 mins to have water and for waiters to take our order). Due to a tardy service at the lunch spot with mediocre food, we only were able to spend only 20 minutes at Arachova which sadden me terribly. I would have preferred to leave earlier to see more and not feel so rushed. The spots themselves were not very toddler friendly but made worse by a sense of rush all day long. Manolis, the driver was very nice and professional, helping where he could. The van was wonderful, very comfortable.
Great tour with an extremely knowledgeable guide. Anastasia knew all about the site and also about points of interest along the way. I wanted to also thank the organizers. I’m a bit of a nervous traveler, always sure I will be at the wrong place or the wrong time. The organizers were so communicative and thorough that I felt confident the whole time. Thank you!
The ride was good but could have had more comfortable seats as it was long distance. The guide was articulate and well informed.
The trip was very well organized. Fryni, our guide, was professional and kind and she gave us information about Greek culture through out the whole journey to Delphi. The driver was very pleasant too. Delphi's temple and museum are worth visiting for their historical, cultural and spiritual importance. The trip there is a bit long but doable. I can recommend.
Nicholas the driver was absolutely great and safe, Jordan the tour guide was very Educated in history. But seemed to get upset when people asked question which was weird for being a guide.....other than that he was a great guide if you just fo with the flow...
Delphi is impressive and beautiful beyond words. Well worth the long drive. I would suggest skipping the arranged lunch. Wish I had not. It was a buffet in a hotel which was fine but some of the group who didn’t pay for lunch got free time to eat in a small quaint town. I think that would have been much more unique & charming. The museum was just ok. The highlight was the archaeological sites outdoors and I would have spent all my time there instead of the museum
It’s about a 3 hour ride to/from Delphi. We were picked up from and dropped off at the we selected, which was convenient. There was a rest stop about halfway through the drive in each direction. I only wish we were allotted more time in both the archaeological site and the museum.
This was a wonderful day trip to Delphi stopping along the way to visit two attractive towns with lunch included. I was grateful for the round trip hotel pick up and drop off. Our guide, Constantina was very knowledgeable and kind and I learned a great deal about Delphi and really enjoyed the museum. I wouldn't recommend the lunch which was not the best Greek food. It's possible to grab something to eat at the rest stop on the way down or back or maybe at a Cafe in town while others are having lunch. The bus driver was also very nice and a good driver.
the trip to delphi from athens is about 7hrs in bus. the experience itself takes only a half of that time. the question if it is worth, must answer each to himself. we liked the atmosphere at delphi site and the guide was professional. what i would appreciate is a bigger bus with more space (we travelled in a minibus for 15persons appr.).
