Our tour to Thermopylae and Delphi was excellent. Our driver Yannis was extremely knowledgable and informative about the history and significance of the places we visited, and he provided a lot of interesting information about related mythology. The private tour was pretty expensive, but it allowed some tailoring of the trip to our interests, in a very comfortable vehicle. Overall, a great experience.

We were treated like royalty and had a really great experience. Tas was an incredibly engaging and knowledgeable tour guide and driver who was able to answer all questions we had, as well as connect the ancient history of the region to current and contemporary events. We were taken to an absolutely wonderful restaurant at the end of the day after visiting Delphi and introduced to a beautiful family owned restaurant. Everything was timely and clean and we would absolutely recommend this tour again. Thank you Tas!
Our wonderful guide Tas provided an amazing day out visiting Delphi and Thermopylae, giving us a very thorough history of both along the way which really enhanced the experience. We got door to door service and he knew all the best scenic viewpoints, rest stops, and local restaurants to visit along the way
The vehicle was spacious. Perfect for the trip. The driver was very professional and kind. He took us to a wonderful restaurant after we toured Delphi called To Patriko Mas. We would highly recommend- they serve home made traditional Greek dishes with a beautiful view of the Gulf of Corinth. The tour was well worth it!
Peter was our driver and guide. He was excellent. Extremely knowledgeable and a great driver. We were treated like royalty. Loved the tour - the museum at Delphi is world class and the ruins are fabulous. Thermopylae was very moving and a great experience. The mountains are so amazing and beautiful.
We had a wonderful day with Peter as our guide. We went everywhere we wanted and he took us to the best restaurant in Delphi that we've ever been too (and value for money). He was knowledgeable and also considerate and we'd highly recommend this tour. Thank you!
My wife and I had 6 days in Athens. We wanted to use some of that time to get outside of the big city, visit the Greek countryside and learn more about the country's history. After an extensive search on Google we decided to book the full day tour to Delphi and Thermoplae. The day before our trip I received a message from our tour guide and driver for the day, Peter. He introduced himself and confirmed the pickup time from the front door of our Airbnb. Peter was brilliant. He was a joy to spend the day with. As we drive out of Athens and towards Thermoplae he introduced us to the fascinating history around the events during 480 - 500 BC when Persians attacked Greece on two separate occasions. It was fascinating to hear Peter describe the events as if they happened during the past century. He brought the time period and its resulting implications on Greek culture to life for us. Then, we ultimately drove thru Thermoplae and saw where this had occurred. We also visited the museum in Delphi that was filled with beautiful artifacts from the time period. As a result of a fall, my wife was wheelchair bound. Peter handled that very respectfully and treated her with tremendous dignity. He also brought us to a beautiful spot for lunch. At Too Patriko Mas my wife and I enjoyed a first rate traditional Greek meal, drank a lovely bottle of red wine, while viewing the miraculous valley below us. We enjoyed every moment of our time with Peter. It felt like we had made a lifelong friend by the end of the day. It was obvious from start to end that our comfort and enjoyment was his primary concern but I really believed he mutually enjoyed the time with us. Thank you for everything, Peter!
Wanting a trip into the interior of Greece from Athens we chose several excursions. On this one Thermopylae and Delphi were the order of the day. Driver Yannis arrived right when he said he would. (Communication via WhatsApp is easiest). Very knowledgeable about Thermopylae. We drove to Delphi where we had arranged a guide. She is an archaeologist. Excellent tour of the museum and site. Then Yannis took us to a nearby restaurant that was excellent. And the view of the distant port was spectacular. This trip was a LONG day. Getting in and out of Athens adds a lot of time and Delphi and Thermopylae are probably the absolute extent of “day tripping” to do from Athens.
We loved this tour. We got to see some gorgeous countryside and fabulous historic sites. Peter took great care of us and was knowlegeable and personable. We had time to enjoy the sites and enjoyed an incredible meal. If the description sounds interesting to you, I highly recommend it.
Our guide was amazing . His was great at telling Greek history and one could tell he was proud of his heritage. He was very accommodating and attentive to all our needs. They could do more at the battle of 300 but it’s really about the significance of the place. I hope in the future they build the place up to really showcase the significance of what it means. Overall definitely worth the visit and our guide pushed our experience over the top !
We were picked up in the morning by our driver, George, who was friendly, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable about the history and significance of both sites. He recommended a fantastic place for us to stop for lunch midday. The Delphi site itself was amazing and stunning. The return trip to Athens was relaxing, a nice way to end the day. We would definitely go back again.
We had an incredible day. Our driver, Yannis, was wonderful. He was both an excellent driver and a fantastic storyteller. We learned so much! He was also well prepared; we had cold water on hand all day. The guide the company arranged for us in Delphi was also great and we really appreciated her taking us through the museum and the ruins. We ended with a lovely dinner (and incredible view of the valley) in the town of Delphi. It’s a long day but would definitely recommend to groups interested in history and mythology.
Yannis picked us up timely and off we went. He shared in credible history that made my husband thrilled to learn about the Spartans & their struggles. The time in Delphi was a treat and an exercise routine. Be prepared as Yannis told us. The museum was great. The walk and steps a challenge. We were rewarded with an amazing lunch looking over the hillside over Corinth in the distance. He offered a scenic route back to our hotel which we chose. We passed through Arachova for a photo stop - no snow skiing. It was beautiful and serene. We had a super nice day with Yannis!!
Peter was outstanding. Welcoming and very informative. Of all our excursions through Greece over 11 days this was the absolute best tour. Highly recommend this tour and would suggest you request Peter as your guide.
Peter was a fantastic driver and tour guide! He was very knowledgeable of the area and history, answering all of our questions. Highly recommend the full day tour!
George was truly AMAZING! From the pick up at our hotel early in the morning, to driving us through our stops at Thermopylae and Delphi, to dropping us off almost eight hours later, he was not only a wonderful conversationalist, but he was incredibly informative. On the drive he essentially provided a masterclass in the Persian War and the culture of Ancient Sparta, Athens, and Persia. For lunch he arranged us a table at To Patriko Mas, a delicious restaraunt overlooking the sea and gorgeous mountain sides. If you are a history buff or classicist, I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. I will say, if you are on the fence about it you don't necessarily need to make the extra Thermopylae leg unless you're a giant nerd (like I am).
We had an amazing time and our driver, Bill, made everything extra special. We traveled with our two boys, ages 10 and 14, and they loved the entire experience. We would recommend to anyone looking to see Delphi and Thermopylae while staying in Athens. It is a great way to see both in one day and be back at your hotel in time for dinner.
I want to give a big shout out to Yannis. He was an excellent guide and driver. He talked about the mythology and history of Greece, and of course interesting facts about all we were seeing along the way. At Delphi he found us perfect spot to eat with a stunningly beautiful view, before we headed off to the archeological site. We absolutely enjoyed our trip from start to finish. I loved learning more about the history of Thermopylea.
Our tour guide Peter made this a smooth, delightful, and informative day. He gave us all the time we needed to experience the museums and sites. He also knew the best places to stop for rest breaks along the long drive. He kept the car at a comfortable temperature and chatted when we felt like chatting and played music when we didn't. He was a smooth, careful driver. We felt like VIPs when we stopped for lunch and they had the best table reserved for us. The restaurant had excellent views with tasty local food in generous portions for a reasonable price.
My friend and I wanted to visit Thermopylae and Delphi without renting a car or being tied to a traditional group tour, so this option seemed perfect. It was. Peter, our driver and guide, picked us up at our hotel and led us on a fantastic day trip. Along the way, he shared helpful background about each place and cheerfully answered our questions. At Thermopylae, he showed us the key sites and explained how they fit into the story of the battle between the Spartans and the Persian army. At Delphi, we enjoyed the museum and had plenty of time to explore the hillside, including the temples and other ruins. What we appreciated most was that Peter never rushed us and was always an excellent source of information. He also took us to a beautiful restaurant for a late lunch overlooking the valley. It was a perfect day.

We’ve done a couple of tours with a couple different tour companies while we’ve been in Greece. Yannis was by far the best! His knowledge on the history of Greece, Thermopylae, and Delphi was unparalleled! We learned so much and highly recommend him.
Wow, what a day of learning. This was a great tour. In fact, all 6 of us thought this might have eked out the prestigious "best day of the vacation" spot. We were a group of 6 adults. Yannis K. picked us up from our hotel in Athens right on time. He showed up in a big, clean, comfortable Mercedes van and brought us a box of biscuits (cookies) to nibble on if we got hungry during the drive. He supplied multiple bottles of water for each of us throughout the day. The day was long. Thermopylae was probably almost a 2 hour drive and then Delphi was another 45 minutes or so beyond that. As we drove, Yannis took the time to point out landmarks along the way. He is a terrific story teller and brought maps and drawings to help tell the story of the battle at Thermopylae. He found all the right perches for us to take photos and he took some photos for us so we could all be in the picture. We arranged for a licensed guide to take us through the Delphi museum and archeological site, which was spectacular. When you go, take the extra half hour to climb up to the stadium. It's really not that far and totally worth it. After the site visit, Yannis arranged for us to have a wonderful meal at a restaurant in the town of Delphi. He picked a great place, and again, all 6 of us thought this was a highlight of our vacation. He didn't join us for the meal, although we invited him. Instead he busied himself nearby and was ready to go when we were. It started to rain on the way back to Athens while we were still in the mountains. Yannis was a careful driver. He wasn't messing around with his phone, driving too fast, or driving aggressively. It was a great day.
When I asked people what a must-do is in Athens, this trip came up consistently right after the Acropolis and Parthenon. So much of the culture and what it meant to worship the Greek Gods revolves around Delphi. We learned so much history and the importance the role of the gods in Greek life and faith from our driver and guide Yannis. He is a wealth of knowledge and shares it all in the more interesting and educational approach. He spent the entire day ensuring we were getting the most out of our time invested. The drive across the mountains was just stunning. Standing on the spot where the 300 fought and changed the course of history was overwhelming. And seeing all the artifacts and the archaeological site where they were found in Delphi was so worthwhile. We also opted for the lunch to be included and the restaurant and food didn’t disappoint. It’s a family run place called "To Patriko Mas" | Greek Mediterranean Restaurant in Delphi. The menu is varied and both dishes we tried as well as the Greek salad and homemade bread were delicious. And the chocolate mousse was the best we’ve ever had. I highly recommend this tour and our driver and guide Yannis!!
We had a wonderful day! Our guide Yannis was incredible. Very knowledgeable, entertaining & friendly. He expertly delivered us to our stops while giving us all the info we needed plus anything else we asked. He found us the perfect spot for lunch-amazing views & amazing food! We understand the battle between the Spartans & Persians so much better having seen the terrain while our guide verbally walked us thru the events. And Delphi! Beautiful and fascinating! Lovely museum. Thrilled we chose to spend our day on these two stops.
Our tour guide Peter was amazing. The drives were long but we learned so much on the rides. Delphi was a surreal location. Such incredible history here!!! And dinner/lunch was amazing. We were well taken care of for the day!
An absolutely fantastic tour. The trip itself went through some amazing coastal and mountain scenery which was unexpected and made the journey fly by. Thermopylae was interesting and Delphi was terrific. We also stopped at the mountain ski resort town of Arachova which was delightful. Maki’s our driver was very knowledgeable and looked after us extremely well. Would definitely recommend this trip.
George was a wonderful tour guide. We enjoyed the day and the educational information. He was friendly and knew all the best spots to stop and we had one of our best meals on our trip. We are using his service for the rest of our trip as well because we enjoyed it so much.
My husband and I had the most fantastic day with Peter. He was a top notch guide and driver. He entertained us while travelling by sharing his in depth knowledge of Greek History and stories from the myths. He gave us a brilliant insight to the places visited and stopped to show us and explain about the superb scenery. He took us to a wonderful restaurant where the food was so delicious. Definitely a trip worth taking
George was our driver and Georgia was our guide. So much fun and so informative in learning about this amazing history. I would highly recommend this tour.
Very nice excursion, our guide Yannis gave us many informations on the visited sites , told us of their history, their importance not only for Greeks but for the world. It goes without saying that the views particularly in Delphi are great, but we felt that Yannis' explanations gave meaning to these known locations. Lastly, his recommendation for lunch was the perfect conclusion to a lovely trip. Thanks again, and we hope to see you soon !
Thanks Tas for a truly wonderful day. We learnt so much and saw so much. How lovely to see so much more of beautiful Greece. There is so much to see and do. We highly recommend this trip and will be recommending to all our friends and family. Tas is so knowledgeable and so friendly. You will be so glad you booked!
1. Great communication with provider to adjust start time 2. Provide a great intro history on the drive out as well as some quite time to take in the scenery 3. Great personable style and even took pictures for us 4. Perfect mix of sites for a first time visit to get a different look at ancient history beyond Athens.
A great day leading about the Roman history and a guided tour of Delphi.
Tas was our driver and guide for the day. He was very friendly and polite. He told us so much information about the trip, and in great detail. He is also a very good and careful driver. He never rushed us and allowed us a much time as we wanted at each stop. We would highly recommend this trip, especially with Tas. He made it so enjoyable. Tas - thank you for making our day so memorable .Ann and Chris
My husband and I had a great day with Tas as our driver and guide. Tas gave us so much information throughout the day and was very happy to answer any questions. He never rushed us and allowed us as much time as we wanted at all of the many sites that we visited. Tas is a great guy and we would highly recommend him. Tas - thank you for such a memorable day, Ann and Chris.
Tas was extremely informed about everything concerning Thermopylae. He even gave us history prior to the Spartans and Persians battle. He talked about Marathon and gave us that history before we even got to Thermopylae. After we went and saw this waterfall that had sulfur that has been healing people for ages. He took us to a beautiful restaurant way up in the mountains with a beautiful view. Our highlight was the archeological site at Delphi. Tas took his time we were never rushed and truly enjoyed his company. I felt like we made a friend.
Peter is an incredible guide who offers a wealth of knowledge with social grace. We felt very welcome the whole time and were never rushed!
Yannis was fantastic!!! Very informative, professional & friendly. His knowledge & insights made the locations come alive. I would certainly recommend Yannis to anyone wanting a memorable experience.
We started our adventure in Athens with a friendly welcome from our guide, Peter. He gave us an overview of the journey and what to expect as we headed out of town. We knew in advanced that the road to Thermopylae was blocked due ongoing farmers protests. Honestly we were ok with not going there because it gave us more time in Arachova and Delphi. But Peter still gave us a history of the area and provided a video. The best part of the trip was Peter gave us options for how to approach each destination. Arachova is a very interesting mountain village with traditional architecture, great coffee shops, and nice stores. We enjoyed walking the narrow streets that overlooked a breathtaking mountain range. We highly recommend stopping there. Delphi was excellent. We toured the museum and then hiked the entire archaeological site. Again this was breathtakingly beautiful and it was very interesting learning the history of the site (which Peter did a great job of explaining during the ride so we had context when starting at the museum.) Peter then took us to a nearby restaurant where we had lunch. The meal was absolutely delicious and the view from our table overlooked the Gulf of Corinth. It was such a nice way to end the trip. Highly recommend this tour with Peter - an amazing guide and kind person who made this adventure extra enjoyable.
Yannis, our guide, was terrific! He had deep knowledge of the history, answered all of our questions, and was very friendly. Highly recommend!
We had a fabulous private day tour with our guide, Tas. He arrived early, communicated clearly and made the entire day effortless. He was incredibly knowledgeable — sharing fascinating stories from history, mythology and modern Greek culture that brought every stop to life. At the museum and archaeological site. we requested a guide to take us through and interpret. She was very knowledgeable and efficient at showing us the things we might otherwise miss. Tas went above and beyond to take photos of us throughout the day, giving us beautiful memories to take home. He made sure we were comfortable, well-fed and hydrated, and always having a great time. It was the perfect mix of learning, laughter and local insight. Highly recommend Tas to anyone who wants a smart, engaging and genuinely kind guide.
It was a well organized trip which I really enjoyed. The driver was nice and helpful and his recommendations really useful. He also had a very well grip on the history of both places and I could ask him many questions.
We had a fabulous day with our guide, George. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. We experienced the history and culture of Greece in a way that brought the ancient history alive as we walked in the footsteps of those who came thousands of years before us. George added special touches by bringing us fresh cookies from a local bakery, taking us over the mountains for incredible views and sharing a charming restaurant in a local village for dinner to enhance our experience. Thank you, George!
We enjoyed our day very much. Our guide Peter was charming, knowledgeable, and a pleasure. We recommend the tour and Peter.
I had a great day going to Delphi with my guide, Peter! He stopped at various locations along the way to point out ancient ruins and historical places. He was so knowledgeable and engaging that the trip was educational and fun!!!
Yannis was an INCREDIBLE guide to myself and the family as we toured Delphi and the surrounding areas. He has a way of animating so many parts of Greek history - always engaging, patient, and extremely helpful. It was such a pleasure to have him as our guide and driver-historian - I would definitely recommend him again!
We had a fabulous day with Peter on our private tour to Thermopylae & Delphi. He arrived exactly when he said he would, had water and cookies ready and waiting in the car and off we went for a full-day adventure. Peter was charming and well versed, not only on the places we visited, but on a wide array of topics. In addition he was extremely thoughtful and considerate of our needs and focused on what would make our day memorable and spectacular. We spent many hours with Peter and the time flew by because it was that enjoyable. Many thanks to Peter for making our tour so worthwhile. Of all the people we have met in Greece so far, he is the best. We highly recommend this tour and this company.
Tas was our guide. He was the best we could have had for the day we had been looking forward since forever! He has a deep knowledge of Greek history especially related to Thermopylae and Delphi. We thought we had a good basic understanding of the history, but Tas gave us the real story without making us feel dumb. He was invested in giving us the best possible experience during our visit. Tas called us to confirm the pickup time and kept us updated enroute to our hotel. He came with water and treats which were delicious. At the end of the day, he got us the best seats in a wonderful restaurant. Finally, Tas followed up the next day with a photo summary of our trip. We would definitely go to this company again if we return to Greece!
Our guide Peter was amazing…knowledgeable, witty, and personable! His contact was great and his remarkable ability to whisk us through crowds and tour groups made our tours to Thermopylae and Delphi awesome, allowing us plenty of time to enjoy and explore these incredible cultural treasures. We not only had ancient sites to hike and visit, but ended our tour with one of the most perfect dinners we’ve ever had with a million dollar view!!! Don’t miss these fantastic sites, or the experience of a lifetime… Get your Guide and Peter, well done, well done indeed 😊
