This daytrip is perfect to experience places on the mainland outside of Athens. Nathan was our driver and was a pleasure to tour with. We were able to customize the day and skip Itea and add time in other locations to maximize our interests which was appreciated. The car was luxurious and comfortable and water was provided. If you need ideas for a custom day tour this is a great choice.

Arachova is a mountain town and a former municipality in the western part of Boeotia, Greece, originally called Karyai (also spelled Caryae). Its name is of South Slavic origin and denotes a place with walnut trees. It is a tourist destination due to its location in the mountains, its traditions, and its proximity to the town of Delphi. Arachova has a panoramic view, uphill small houses, and the cobbled streets show a picturesque architecture. The town center includes a huge and steep cliff, the Bell Tower, covered with dense ivy. At the top of the tower is a large 10m height clock. Arachova is famous for its black wine, its "brusque", the colorful textiles, carpets and rugs, handicrafts, and woodcut creations as well.
Livadeia is a town in central Greece. It is the capital of the Boeotia regional district. The area around Livadeia is mountainous, with farming activities mainly confined to the valleys. The area has traditionally been associated with the production and processing of cotton and tobacco, as well as the cultivation of cereal crops and the raising of livestock. The city is also known for having participated in the War of Troy in allegiance with Mycenae.
Mount Parnassus is a mountain in central Greece that towers above Delphi, north of the Gulf of Corinth. Mount Parnassus offers many advantages to the population of Greece. In peace, it possesses scenic views of the countryside and features olive groves and rolling hills. The mountain is also the location of historically, archaeologically, and culturally significant places of interest (such as Delphi). Recreationally, the slopes of Parnassus provide a medium for hiking (in the three warm seasons) and are skied in winter. Its melting snows provide water to the surrounding communities, reaching out as far as Athens. The mountain is composed of limestone, and its rock contains bauxite, ore that is rich in aluminum. In war, Parnassus has been a center of resistance if need be, providing cover and refuge to partisans.
Arrival at the archaeological site of Delphi after a 2,5 hours trip. Free time for a walk at: - sanctuaries of Apollo and Athena Pronaia - ancient stadium and theater
Delphi Archaeological Museum is one of the principal museums of Greece and one of the most visited. It is operated by the Greek Ministry of Culture. Founded in 1903, it has been rearranged several times and houses the discoveries made at the Panhellenic sanctuary of Delphi, which dates from the Late Helladic (Mycenean) period to the early Byzantine era. Organized in fourteen rooms on two levels, the museum mainly displays statues, including the famous Charioteer of Delphi, architectural elements, like the frieze of the Siphnian Treasury, and ex-votos dedicated to the sanctuary of Pythian Apollo, like the Sphinx of Naxos. The exhibition floor space is more than 2270m2, while the storage and conservation rooms (mosaics, ceramics, and metals) take up 558m2.
The Temple of Apollo, god of music, harmony, light, healing, and oracles occupied the most important and prominent position in the Delphic Panhellenic Sanctuary. The edifice with the partially restored colonnade visible today dates to the 4th century BC; it is the third temple built at the same place. The famous oracle, the Pythia, operated inside the temple, the location chosen, according to one tradition, due to a sacred chasm beneath the site emitting vapors, which were inhaled by the Pythia. Some ancient writers state that the Pythia then entered a state of delirium and uttering inarticulate cries, which were then turned into equivocal oracles by the priests. This interpretation is controversial, and has been challenged by scholars such as Joseph Fontenrose and Lisa Maurizio, who argue that the ancient sources uniformly represent the Pythia speaking intelligibly, and giving prophecies in her own voice.
Free time for lunch at a traditional Greek tavern with your friends and family or shopping.
Free time for a coffee before we start our trip back to Athens.
Itea, is a town and a former municipality in the southeastern part of Phocis. Since 2011 local government reforms have made Itea a municipal unit of the municipality of Delphi.
Galaxidi is built on a natural double harbor on the west coast of the Gulf of Itea, which is a northward bay of the Gulf of Corinth. Galaxidi is a 2.5-3 hour drive from Athens and a popular weekend retreat. The territory of the municipal unit hosts the site of the ancient town of Chalaeum.

This was a great tour and we had a wonderful time. The sites we saw were interesting and beautiful and our driver Fotis was really wonderful. He was friendly and very informative and he made the tour so fun and interesting. We would definitely do this tour again.
Our family of five took this tour and enjoyed it thoroughly. Our guide was George and he was top notch - very knowledgeable, pleasant, able to converse on a wide variety of topics, punctual, flexible with the time and how it was spent at various locations, and more. He made the day really enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Vasilis was our tour guide. We had a very comfortable ride to see Delphi, Itea, and Galaxidi. We had a wonderful lunch in Delphi that included authentic Greek cuisine. Highly recommend using Vasilis for a tour.
Spyros, the tour operator was great. Very professional and knowledgeable. He first stopped in a small mountain town, Arachova, that was not on the original plan but it was a welcome change. It was beautiful and a place I would like to visit again. Delphi was incredible and we were given more than enough time to scale the mountain. I say that in jest but it is a physical struggle to see Delphi and it required you to hike up steep slopes to see the ruins. The next stop was at Itea. It is a beautiful coastal town and I wish we spent more time there as well. We finished the tour in Galaxidi. Although quaint, that town was not worth the stop in my opinion. The lunch we had there was not great. Again we could have stopped in Itea and stayed there longer, had lunch there, and made the tour more perfect.
Starting with the incredible service and attentiviness of the owner Aris, that customized our tour and, when the metereological conditions made our trip impossible, was very fast to help us find alternatives. The guide, Spiros, was absolutely perfect. He was punctual, knew A LOT about the history of all the places we’ve passed by and was helpful and caring with us, always providing us with water and a lovely conversation. The route was breathtaking, and the pacing allowed us to explore at our own time, without rushing it. The selection of cities - Delphi, Aranchova, It’ea and Galaxdi - were a good combination of history and sightseeing, mountains and sea. We ended perfectly with a lunch of fresh fish at Galaxdi. Super recomend for everyone and definetly will come back!
From beginning to end, it was a seamless experience. We were taken between the scenic spots and always given as much time as needed to view everything. Our driver/guide gave us the local insights and recommended on what do to and not to really enhance the experience even further! When time for lunch, we were given the best table and view at taverna Vakhos (unforgettable) thanks to our driver!
When looking at crowded buses and tourist guides that are stressing about time, it makes the choice of having a private tour so obvious :-) From beginning to end, it has been a seamless experience with transfer between scenic spots and always been given the time we wanted to explore. The unexpected visit on this tour was lunch at Taverna Vakhos with an amazing view overlooking green fields of olive trees and water, as well as Galaxidi town with it's authentic tavernas and crystal blue waters.
This is a long tour. We asked to cut out the visit to the last seaside town as we were jet lagged. Delphi is amazing but come ready to hike. Panos was a good guide for the day. Lunch was excellent!
We had an amazing trip from Athens to Delphi and Galaxidi. Notis was very friendly and helpful. He is an extremely knowledgeable guide and we had fun and interesting conversations throughout the day. Thank you for the wonderful tour Notis!
The driver was waiting in the agreed time and we started the trip. water was offered we and a stop and took photos and he recommended a restaurant with a view was perfect. Driver was very professional and trip was memorable
The tour was amazing, got to know more about Greece history and heritage. Our driver Panos shared lots of information with us. He was great and accommodating to our needs.
We had a great time with Panos on our amazing trip to Delphi. Panos was knowledgeable, personable, and sensitive to our needs and comfort. We loved seeing the landscape and incredible ruins at Delphi, and he gave us as much time as we needed, never hurrying us as we saw the ruins and the museum. The taverna lunch that followed was delicious and had a stunning view. It was fun to see the 2 seaside towns after lunch, although Galaxidi was pretty much shut down for the afternoon. Panos's English is excellent and he was charming, making for lots of interesting conversation, and we heard Greek stories and information we didn't know. It was a lovely day! Thank you!
Tom is an amazing guide and so much fun! He arranged the best lunch with a view over the valley and the food was the best meal we had in Greece! This is THE best tour to Delphi because it includes towns that are breathtaking and overlooked. Tom is knowledgeable, thoughtful and a blast to travel with. He was the ‘secret sauce’ of our vacation. Ask for Tom!!! I am Greek American and hadn’t been to Greece for many years- He helped me with my Greek and reminded me about what I love about the Greeks and my heritage.
A fantastic day seeing Arachova, Delphi and Galaxidi! Notis was great, very friendly, he kept us well hydrated and gave us plenty of time in each location so we never felt rushed. He also brought us to a delicious lunch spot with a great view. We definitely recommend this tour!
Takis was a great driver and very funny and good to talk to. This is essentially hiring a car, not a guide so we got a guide for Delphi as well. This makes getting to and from Delphi. Not sure why Itea and Galaxidi are included. They are cute towns but there’s not much there. Delphi is awesome.
Menelous was a wonderful tour guide. He made our day memorable and answered all our many questions about the places we were going and about Greek life in general. He stopped at some places not on the official itinerary because we showed interest. He also gave us many local suggestions on places and food to try. Don’t miss this opportunity!!
The trip to Delphi started off with our driver, Peter, bringing us delicious pastries . He then drove us to Delphi. As it was a very hot day, he supplied us with icecold water before starting our hike up to visit the archaeological site of Delphi. It took us 1hr 15mins to visit all the remains of Delphi's Temple of Apollo. The admission to the archaeological site included admission to the museum, which was just 5-10mins walk away. After visiting the museum, Peter drove us to a very nice tavern with mountain view for lunch. We then visited a village and took more pictures and did some shopping. It was an enjoyable day filled with history, cardio exercise ( the long hike, lol) and good food
Loved all of the stops. En route views were incredible as well as the museums and sites at each stop. Such a wonderful time!
Our guide was Menelaus and he was awesome! Made us feel so safe traveling as a small group of women in a foreign country. Offered to take pictures for us and always kept an eye out for us when we were leaving an attraction and came to pick us up as quickly as possible so we could avoid the heat. Overall, excellent experience and excellent guide! (The man in the upper right hand side of the picture is Menelaus!)
My wife booked this private tour to Delphi for me as a birthday gift, and it was an amazing experience! We were picked up on time by Tom, who was a pleasure to spend the day with. He was flexible when we asked to change our pick up time to an earlier hour. When we got in the car, Tom had bottled water and delicious pastries for us. The car was extremely roomy and comfortable. After spending a couple of hours at Delphi, we were taken to a local taverna for lunch, and it was the best meal we had in our entire time in Athens!!! We mentioned that we wanted to buy some olive oil and honey, and Tom found a local store for us that sold stuff that they make themselves… finding some homemade liquor was an added bonus 🙂. After that we went to Galaxidi and spent some time at the maritime museum before relaxing and enjoying a nice cup of coffee. We also stopped by Itea on the way home. At no point did we feel rushed; actually, Tom encouraged us to take our time. Overall this was a great experience made better by our driver. Highly recommended for anyone that wants to enjoy the day at their own pace without being stuck in a stuck in one of those massive tour buses.
Another great day with Tom as our guide. Comfortable car, well driven by a friendly and interesting driver! I personally preferred the day trip to Mycenae we did earlier in the week but Delphi is worth a visit if you have time.
We had a great one day trip to Delphi, about 2 hours drive from Athens. Our driver Mr.Peter, a funny guy made the trip fun and joyful, he also took us to a local restaurant to taste some local cooking, we love the food. Overall we enjoyed it very much, clean car, great service 👍
Ask for George! He’s a lovely guy and has a wealth of knowledge. He explained all the history and trivia of each area we visited/drove past (in perfect English), and was just generally super friendly and accommodating. We were picked up and dropped off at our Airbnb in Athens. The minivan is very comfortable and clean. Learnt a lot en route from George as well as at the sites themselves. You get dropped off at multiple sites to have a wonder round whilst he waits, and you can go at your own speed. The museum at Delphi is actually one of the most interesting I’ve been to. It’s relatively short, but each room is pretty mind blowing! Don’t forget the gift shop! I bought a genuinely nice piece of jewellery there. The restaurant he dropped us at for lunch had an incredible view. The food was really nice. We’re pescatarians and they had decent options for us. I personally prefer countryside to city, so for me this tour was ideal, and the mountain air is really refreshing. Plus the scenery is stunning. Overall you’re going to enjoy this tour 👌
Petros was very nice, helpful, and considerate. He went above and beyond to ensure our trip was enjoyable and memorable
Peter was a very outstanding driver, host and guide. Me and my two friends had a great experience, so great that me and my friends are looking forward to returning to Greece
Fantastic experience in Delphi with George. Delphi is a MUST see, and this private visit is worth every penny. The driver was very knowledgeable and made it very comfortable, flexible and enjoyable for us and our small daughter. Excellent recommemdation of a restaurant nearby. I would give 6 stars if I could. Ana
George was fantastic! He picked us up from our hotel and as we passed through Athens to Delphi he pointed out all the highlights of the city. En route George educated us on Greek history and local highlights. He was courteous and accommodating in all ways. When we reached our destination, he gave an overview of what we would see and why it was significant. After our tours, he would answer all out questions. George took us to the best restaurant for lunch and helped us find one for dinner that night after our trip. Next time you take this trip, I highly recommend that you request George. Stacy & Annette
Our driver was friendly and very helpful. Great driver and great customer service. Highly recommended.
Great tour to Delphi and surrounding area. I would definitely recommend this tour. Our guide Petro was very informative and very patient with us making sure we saw everything. I would definitely recommend this tour. Thank you for a wonderful journey! "
Our guide Petro was great! He is Very knowledgeable despite the fact he’s not a certified guide. He tried really hard to please us and show us more than what was expected. Highly recommend Petro as your driver!
A great experience with a friendly and knowledgeable driver (Petros). An amazing comfortable Mercedes Van and everything you need.
My friends and I, had the most wonderful day trip to Delphi. Delphi was just amazing, the drive up there was breathtaking, with all the mountains and sights. Arachova is one day of the most beautiful and picturesque cities I have ever seen. But the one thing, that was definitely the cherry on top, was our driver George. He made the whole difference, from this being an standard trip, were your driver just takes you from A to B. He entertained us, with knowledge about sights we drove by, and ancient history. He made stops just so we could take pictures, and he also recommended a restaurant, were we simply ate some of the best Greek food, on this holiday, and with one of the prettiest views. This is definitely recommended, just remember proper footwear when you go see the monuments in Delphi!
This trip to Delphi was so AMAZING, everything was just perfect and I can recommend this for everyone! The driver George was so helpful and sweet, he knew so much about Ancient Greece and was so sweet to share all his information with us! He recommend a very nice place to eat lunch and gave us all the time we needed to enjoy Delphi’s beauty! George gave an excellent service and thereby made the trip so great!
The trip to Delphi was so incredible! Our driver George was so nice and let us stop many places on the way to take pictures, as well as telling us lots of interesting history. Nothing felt like it was missing, and we even stopped by the stunning city Arachova!! The place he took us for lunch was sooooo good as well, and we absolutely loved it - it was my favorite place I’ve eaten so far. A 10/10 for sure!
We had a amazing day on our Athens to Delphi Trip with George as our driver. George was early at our Downtown Athens hotel to pickup my family of four in his Mercedes Van. George drove the early morning traffic very safely and as we got outside of town we were on our way on the highway. During the drive to Delphi, George made sure to show us the Greek monument to the fallen for WWII and was very engaging and conversational in English. In the van, George made sure we always had cold water bottles and provided WIFI for the van which was wonderful to look up facts (in fact George recommended some videos for us to watch during the trip!) We had a wonderful day at the Delphi Archeological site and museum and George was prompt in picking us up to take us into Delphi for lunch. George recommended a wonderful family restaurant with an amazing view and fantastic food. Then it was off to Arachova for a nice stroll through the town. George returned us back to our hotel safe and sound and really made our day a memorable one. Thank you George!
Great trip. Itinerary exactly as advertised. Friendly, knowledgeable, extremely professional driver. Was a tremendous way to experience Delphi.
We started the day with Georgiois collecting us from the hotel, the car was immaculate. Geogious could not have been a better host, polite, full of information and a great driver. The journey seemed to go in minutes (2.25 hours each way). Delphi itself was fabulous, we were then taken to a lovely taverna for lunch followed by some walking in the town. We felt able to relax at our own pace with no hassle to “hurry up” or “we are out of time”. Cannot praise My Athens Transfers enough if all their drivers and vehicles are of this quality. Highly recommend to book with this company.
