This tour didn’t happen. After spending 15 euros for the cab to get to the Key Tours pickup point. They had two buses. Bus 1 took off just fine. The bus my family was on , bus 2, didn’t start. After they sat on the bus for some time. Key Tours stated we would get a refund. But who covers the 30 Euros we had to spend on the taxi rides to and from the pickup point? This was very disappointing as we have limited time here in Athens and no opportunity to reschedule.

We had a very relaxed travel in a comfortable bus & with wonderful guide. Not only the sight was great but the journey there also very enjoyable.
We took a coach ride from Athens to the temple of Poseidon. Our guide Kat was very knowledgeable and explained what we could see while driving. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and we didn't see the sunset, but the views of the sea from that high up were breathtaking. We still enjoyed the excursion and learned a lot from Kat. A big shout out for the driver as driving in Athens is crazy and he did a fantastic job getting us their and back safely.
This is a classic Greek experience. I wouldn’t go again, but my aunt really wanted to see it. It was very crowded (in mid-October), I can’t imagine what it would be like in the summer. Getting a vantage of the temple and sunset at the same time is nearly impossible due to the landscape (unless you have a drone). Still the tour and timing were well executed.
There is not enough time to grab something to eat at the restaurant on site. The lady at the store was by herself and rushing everyone because she was going to close. Maybe she is not the owner, otherwise she would've welcome more sales. And they only had OE employee preparing coffee, which given the fact that it was cold and raining outside, seemed totally insufficient.
We had a great time!! Great value and service. Coach bus was nice and clean. The guide was great and the driver drove well and safely. Everything ran on time and went smoothly. Would highly recommend.
After leaving 20 minutes late, we found out the ride was 90 minutes each way, not 60 as advertised. Halfway there we stopped to pick up a late couple. They never showed. 20 minutes later the bus was told to TURN AROUND and drive back to get them. One hour of driving/waiting at this point. We would not have had time to tour Poseidon's temple so we got off the bus near the sea and made our way back to our hotel. Ridiculous to delay a bus full of people for one late couple. Guide was nice and very apologetic.
We really did wonder if this tour was worth the time and effort, but we really are glad we went. The booking was easy and cheaper (by 50%) than most other operators. The coach was busy, with no empty seats (50+ people), and the journey took 1.5 hours, but the hostess made it fun telling us facts along the way and making it easy to buy tickets for the site. If you have a free few hours, and even if it’s cloudy, it’s still worth the time.
The scenic views were spectacular including amazing sunset. It was well worth the trip.
Wonderful experience. As expected and even more. Very well organized Katerina gives interesting explanation and information in very nice, detailed and pleasant way. The view during the bus trip is nice. but the site visit at sunset is really amazing. We have been also lucky with the weather, windy enough to clear the sky. All perfect!
We had a brilliant time on our excursion to the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion with Katerina, she was a terrific guide providing plenty of helpful and interesting facts during the smooth bus journey. We would definitely recommend this trip for small group size, value for money, overall atmosphere and staff friendliness. Many thanks again Kat! Sarah and Jim from Ireland
The tour was perfectly organised and staff were amazing and helpful. The sunset was amazing, definitely worth considering in anyone's travels.
Great trip and our guide Katerina was very knowledgable and nice!
Wonderful tour, very stress free as they take you to and from the location. The site and location are beautiful. The only issue was getting tickets (I would recommend getting the package that includes them)
Guide was good. It's just a pretty place to go at sunset, and relaxed pace, but there wasn't much to do. I thought this was nice, but if you have a lot to do in a little time, this one could be skipped.
George was great he gave a lot of information and was entertaining. The tour was beautiful and the views were amazing. There are a lot of people up there watching the sunset too, be prepared to stand or find a seat early.
Bus ride from Athens to the Temple was smooth. We had plenty of time to explore the site and there wad barely any line when buying the ticket. Restaurant was expensive, so I suggest bringing your own snacks. Sunset was nice.
Very pleasant and easy going, beautiful views, and a nice close to a day. Find a spot early up there to watch, it will get crowded.
Great value experience with great tour guide. Efficient and friendly service. Wonderful views and photo opportunities.
Great tour. Just right out of time to see the Cape and Temple of Poseidon. This area was gorgeous and we got some amazing pictures with the temple and with the Aegean Sea. We weren’t there at sunset because sunset in April is around 8 pm and we were there at the sight from 4:30-5:30. The van was comfy and well air conditioned and only 20 people per tour. The tour guide gave interesting Athens and mythology facts on the trip down. The trip takes about hour and half to get to the cape, then hour and half back. I loved it and thought it was worth the price. You do have to buy tickets for the sight separately and they are 20 euros in April.
If you are visiting Athens, this experience is a must. The views of the sea were breathtaking, especially at sunset. The guide was so friendly and shared information about Athens along the way.
Had to queue for restroom and tickets (not possible to buy tickets on line). We were left with just half an hour to enjoy the temple and sunset.
We had a great time - the only thing that might have been better is if they had bought the tickets but it was still awesome
Basically the only benefit was that the transport was organised and cheaper than a taxi (do one person). Guide was clearly going through the motions and drinking beer in the taverna whilst we visited. Loooooong queue for tickets on sir (wasyed at least 20 minutes) - I would have bought my ticket through Viator of the option had been clearly viisible. If you are a party of 3 pr me, probably makes more sense to get a taxi.
Terrible experience. Lack of service spirit. Even if the trip has a competitive price, it’s not worthing. We canceled immediately another trip with the same company ( Keytours ). We noticed that we were not the only ones who complained the quality of the trip organization and service of this company. Next time we should read more comments before booking.
We went on winter but I think it's enjoyable in all the seasons of the year. It's a must do trip for history and the views. Highly recommended.
A 90min drive along a beautiful coast, and finally at a stunning point well worth the journey. Temple is a really photogenic point and the sunset a bonus (on a clear day)
We missed the tour due to flight delays. Organized a private trip through a vehicle hire…quite reasonable price. The drive is really beautiful, and sunset at the temple of Poseidon is not to be missed.
Licensed archeologist where? She didn't even go into the sight to tell us about the temple. Was just a ride to the site. Disappointed.
Interesting factoids on the ride up, beautiful sunset, friendly and accommodating tour guides - great experience!
Breathtaking view and very educational. I would highly recommend it. Only criticism is that we were delayed due to picking up and dropping people to and from the temple. Such a shame particularly when the individuals were not on time for the tour.
We arrived at the designated pickup point 30 minutes prior to the departure time, as instructed. I waited for over 40 minutes, diligently checking each bus that arrived, but none matched the trip I had booked. Then I moved from the designated pick-up point and i found were the company's office is and asked for assistance. Unfortunately, the staff were unhelpful and dismissive, informing me that the bus had already left but refusing to provide any further information, assistance, compensation, or the possibility to reschedule my trip. Their attitude was unfriendly, and the lack of signage or clear communication made it impossible to locate the correct bus. This experience was frustrating, inconvenient, and disappointing. I incurred unnecessary costs and wasted time due to what I believe is a failure on the service provider's part, and possibly inadequate instructions or coordination presented during the booking.
This was a great experience! It was so beautiful there and the sunset was magical. They probably give you too much time at the site before sunset but there’s a cafe you can get tea or coffee and food at if you like. It’s windy up there so a light jacket was handy. I’m glad we took this trip because we nearly passed it up and it was definitely worth it.
My best friend and I did this on the 14. of September and it was such a nice experience!!! Everything worked without complications and the bus was clean & comfortabele. We stayed until after sunset at the Temple of Poseidon and had roundabout 2h Time to explore the place there... Buying entry tickets at the Temple was no problem, EU citizens U25 are free.... What made our experience so wonderful was the LOVELY Tourguide we had!! He told us a lot during the bus ride and volunteered to take pictures of us etc and just spread such positive vibes!!!! Thank you so soo much!
This tour was a disaster from the very beginning. The air conditioner on the bus was not working but the tour company proceeded to start the tour. 15 minutes into out journey with everyone sweating as it was so hot, we were told that the tour company had arranged another bus so we all hopped off and expected the replacement bus to arrive in 15 minutes. The replacement bus took over 1 hour to come. We eventually arrived at 6:55 pm and we only had 1 hour to spend before returning back to the bus at 8pm. The tour guide was nice & apologetic. He did get into a heated argument with the bus driver. Cape sounion sunset & temple of Poseidon was incredible.
Customer service and the tour guide on the bus were great! The only critique we had was that the time of the excursion is inaccurate. It lists 4-8 p.m. however, we did not leave the temple until 7:45 and returned to Athens at 9:30p.m. causing us to miss a dinner reservation. The sun set at 7:40 so it’s understandable why we stayed longer, but the time on the excursion listing should be updated. The temple is beautiful and definitely worth the trip!
It’s a lovely place with a beautiful temple and gorgeous scenery. It seemed like we were there much longer than needed to explore the site and watch the gorgeous sunset. Also the cost of ticket entry was a bit higher for what it is (that cost is on top of the tour cost).
We had a great time. Our guide was knowledgeable and our driver was fast! Thanks for doing such a wonderful job!
We had to pay to get into the archeological site. $20 each. Even though it says 1 hour free. Could walk around by restaurant
Absolutely brilliant. The tour guide was brilliant with not only the adults but the few kids that were on the tour! She was so informative, would definitely recommend to others to do this tour with a tour guide as they provide so much information
We arrived about 1.5 hrs prior to sunset. There is a restaurant and gift shop at the entrance. The cost of 20 euro per person to get to the temple of Poseidon was not included in the tour price. Katarina, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. The sunset was beautiful!
Cannot review because the information in the posting was inaccurate and caused us to miss our tour. I am still seeking a refund.
We just wanted to visit the Temple of Poseidon and watch the sunset and this is exactly what we needed. We just needed a ride there and this was much cheaper than taking a taxi there and back to Athens. We sat in a comfortable bus with AC. The tour guide told us facts about places we passed by and some myths about the temple. We were on our own to explore when we got to the temple and we were fine with that. Keep in mind that admission inside the temple was not included in this trip, you would have to pay when you get there. The temple itself and sunset was beautiful but like any other tourist place, there was many people. We had about 2 hours at the site and decided to eat at the restaurant there. The ride back was fine and offered to drop off at three different points. Would recommend if you would want to visit the temple during sunset
The tour bus on the way there was very warm - the a/c not strong enough for a bus full of people on a hot day. The bus loads in an unorganized and hasty fashion and our family didn’t get to sit by each other. The tour guide was a nice enough guy, but the tour talk was not interesting and he really only talked about some points of interest while driving out of Athens. As for the Temple area, it’s a beautiful view and sunset but you’re there for almost 3 hours and there’s a lot of people there and not many places to sit except on sharp uneven rocks. There was no working bathroom on the tour bus and the bathrooms were out of order at the Temple site. We basically had to “hold it” for 6 hours. The driver did stop on way home at a restaurant and told us we could go there. The temple is cool but if you see other temples and going to see the beach or water / sunset elsewhere you don’t have to go to this one. I don’t feel it was worth the money, but it’s not so expensive that I feel completely ripped off, either. I wouldn’t recommend as a must do at all.
If you're short on time and don't like wasting money, I strongly suggest you don't book this. The guides are the only good thing about this tour, being very kind. Apart from that, you're paying for a very expensive bus trip. The said "air-conditioner" must be the friends we made along the way, because everyone was sweating the whole way there. The wifi didn't work for half of the trip, had to keep reconnecting. You couldn't understand anything the guide was saying from the back of the bus, so even the bus description has flaws. You then get to the temple, and get informed that you'll have to go to a ticket office and pay another 20€ for the ticket to enter. The tour description says that to have the ticket included you have to "select the option" (which is written in small letters so most of us will miss that part), which wasn't presented at any point. In any case, it's, saying the least, immoral to sell a "Cape Sounion & Temple of Poseidon Sunset Experience" which translates into a very expensive bus trip. Wasting our afternoon sure was an experience, and there were the temple and the sunset, just not provided by them. We ended up seing the sunset and the temple from the distance.
Guide was no engaging and welcoming. First words were ‘you may not eat or drink alcohol on the bus’. Ok… that is the tule? But it would have been nice to welcome us, introduce himself, then give us the rules. Also, suggesting a sweater or jacket in case of windy, cool weather would have been nice.
Good to have live commentary from a knowledgeable guide. We were lucky to get a good sunset. It would have been nice to also have an option of paying an add on for a guided tour of the site.
The bus ride was comfortable and there was enough time at the Cape to explore and take in the views. The temple itself isn't much but the views from the Cape are lovely and we were able to watch the sun-set over the blue waters. So it is recommended only for the beautiful landscapes and the lovely views.
A well organised tour, with around an 1.0 - 1.5 hours drive along the coast to the Temple of Poseidon. Katerina pointed out many interesting facts along the way and the sunset when we got there was very beautiful. Once we got to the temple we were left to our own devices and we bought our own tickets, I would have preferred the tour guide to have waited and gave us a little more insight about the area when we got there as we felt stranded at the beginning.
Fun experience if you’re looking for great views but not worth it if you’re in Athens for a short period of time (<3 days). The sunset and temple are very picturesque but the 1 hour drive each way makes less worth it than other tours of the city itself. The bus ride there was okay, the tour guide provides history about the temple and mythology. Views to the temple are great (sit on the right side when going to the temple and on the left when you’re going back to Athens for the best view!)
