We were picked up by Micheal in the company's black Mercedes van, which is very comfortable and easy to spot. Our tour was simply to drive to Cape Sounio to see Poseidon's Temple and Lake Vouliagmeni (Limni Vouliagmenis), which is located along the Athenian Riviera near Cape Sounio. The previous day, we had taken a My Athens tour which lasted all day (see my review), and we wanted something peaceful and restful but still interesting. This tour completely fulfilled that desire and more. Michael drove us to the Cape, which took about 90 minutes. Michael was a great driver, which is important to us, which kept us relaxed. During our drive, he talked about the places we were passing and their relevance and context to our tour. The scenery along the coast was delightful and beautiful. I took a ridiculous amount of photos. He even found some nice photos stop locations, especially near the Cape. We got to the site, which holds the Temple of Poseidon. It's on a bluff over looking the water and the valley. It very picturesque and photogenic. We were there for about an hour walking around and taking photos, again completely relaxing. The walk up to the Temple is easy and you can get very close to it. We actually bought a few souvenirs in the gift shop because they were so nice and original. We had picked the Greek lunch, and drove there after the Temple. The restaurant was right on the water and in a beautiful location. I had the sea bass which was picked out of a cold bin, with the waiter saying it was caught that morning. My wife had prawns and we shared some Greek salad. It honestly (and I'm not exaggerating) the best freshest seas bass I've ever eaten. It was flaky and moist and amazingly fresh. I wish I could eat there every day. Just fantastic. On the way back we stopped at the brackish water Lake Vouliagmeni, a few minutes from the restaurant. It was once part of the sea, but a rock slide filled in the entry and it became a lake. It's just beautiful. Michael gave us some history about it and what it's being used for now. Afterwards we returned back to our starting point. We had a hard stop due to another commitment, and Michael got us there on time without rushing. Honestly, this was just what my wife wanted - a beautiful location, a calm peaceful ride, and a stress free day. Just luxurious. Michael was really the perfect driver, calm, interesting, and keeping the stress non-existent. If you're looking for a calm, great day visiting a beautiful location with great food, this is your tour. Obviously, I'd recommend adding the lunch to make it the perfect day.

Kostas (Κώστα) provided a memorable tour to The Temple of Poseidon pointing out key points along the way the Athenian Riveria with a stop at a lovely hot spring swimming club. Kostas’ passion for sharing his love of his Greek heritage, history, culture, and especially language was so enjoyable—along with his own love of travel. He even gave us thoughtful memento of our time together that highlighted the Greek Mythology Family Tree. The location of the temple and preservation is impressive surrounded by stunning views of the sea. We capped off our evening with a memorable casual dinner at a seaside taverna owned by four brothers. The hospitality was excellent and fresh seafood was delicious. Highly recommend!
We booked our tour directly with My Athens Transfers and the booking process was super easy. Our guide Notis was extremely knowledgeable about Greek and world history and we got to learn a lot from him during our beautiful drive to Cape Sounio. We truly enjoyed our trip and highly recommend visiting Cape Sounio with My Athens Transfers and please ask for Notis!
Great knowledge of history. Tour guide was exceptional - entertaining and inspiring. Highly recommend.
The trip to Cape Sunio was a nice break from exploring downtown Athens. We booked a 6:00 start and arrived at the perfect time to explore the area for a hour and then relax and see the sunset over the water. The drive to Sunio was beautiful along the coast and allowed us to see more of the area. So glad we booked a driver in a comfortable and clean van that easily fit our family of 4 rather than rent a car. Our driver George was a highlight! He was an excellent driver and had so much knowledge of the area and history of Greece. We enjoyed the conversation over the course of the drive. It was the perfect end to our Greece vacation.
Menelaus was a phenomenal tour guide. He took his time with us and helped us understand what we were seeing. I highly reccomend booking with him.
Fantastic trip. Our driver was knowledgeable putting out things and giving information as we drove the 1 1/2 hours from the port to the temple. Be sure to arrive before sunset as the views are spectacular. Be forewarned that it gets cold and windy very quickly at sunset. We traveled 4/28. We opted for the Greek dinner. The owner was friendly and the food good. You had your choice of any items on the menu plus beer or wine. This trip was our one splurge and worth it.
Our tour guide, George, was absolutely incredible. He was so knowledgeable about the history of the entire country — from ancient times all the way through modern day. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with him all the way up to Poseidon. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better guide!
Great trip to Sounion. We very much enjoyed the company of Mike who was a very entertaining and competent driver. We loved his sense of humor and knowledge and his good stories. He offered us a good suggestion for a meal on the way as well. We highly recommend him.
This was great. Nick was a great guide. The car was a comfortable Mercedes van. We loved Cape Sounio - it was a stunning place to visit. And we opted for lunch on our way home, which was a delicious seafood meal on the water.
We had a wonderful day and Angelo was delightful! He was very knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating.
Alex is the BEST. The trip was breathtaking. The views and the history is worth it. It's just so beautiful and relaxing.
George and Michael were knowledgeable and personable. We really enjoy their insights and conversation as we traveled through the coastal towns from Athens to the Temple of Poseidon. The food stop was fantastic as well. Definite recommend.
Dimitri picked us up at the port in Athens as we were on a cruise. Pickup went smoothly as he was right at the entrance as I had been advised via WhatsApp. When we asked for an English speaking tour guide we hoped for, but did not expect such easy communication. It was a fantastic trip that I would urge anyone to try. For added incentive, Dimitri stopped on the way back to Athens at a restaurant right on the Adriatic Sea where we had an authentic Greek meal. We all enjoyed our day with Dimitri!
This tour met my expectations and exceeded them! George was a bit early for our pickup time but we were ready and it was good to get on the road early (9:30) to beat some of the tourist busses. George was a delightful man, livening in Athens all of his life, so he was very knowledgeable about the island all of the questions we asked. George provided water and WiFi for the trip. Our first stop was a beautiful lookout at a swimming lake in Vouliagmeni, just a quick stop to stretch our legs and admire the beautiful view. Then it was on to the Temple of Poseidon. George told us how this was a strategic spot for the ancient Athenians to use as a lookout for enemy attack boats. The ruins perched on the edge of the water just blew me away, it was stunning. After our visit, George took us to a lovely seaside restaurant owned by 4 brothers, 2 worked in the restaurant and the other 2 were the fisherman. We were please with the table and view and we also avoided a few large groups! Our meal was outstanding. We listened to the waiter’s recommendations and we were very pleased. Our friends had the Sea Grill which was cooked and then filleted tableside and I had the Mussels Saganaki,Greek salad, beetroot salad and of course some Mythos, a Greek beer. Perfect spot for lunch with amazing food. Then back on to our hotel in Athens. We all wholeheartedly said that this booking was a Grand Slam and highly recommend it.
Every aspect of the tour were excellent. George our guide and driver, the sights, and the fresh seafood for lunch. We highly recommend.
We had a wonderful experience with our knowledgeable tour guide, George. He provided interesting historical background throughout the tour and was easy to engage with. The trip was comfortable and just the right length. I would recommend including lunch with the package. We stopped at a delightful restaurant on the water and the food was delicious.
Beautiful drive Knowledgeable driver who knew his Greek mythology! Great restaurant to end the evening.
This tour was excellent! We got beautiful photos of the temple at sunset. Our driver, Spyros, was amazing. This is the third tour we booked with My Athens Transfers and all three were perfect. We had Spyros, Costa, and Alex for the different tours. All were on time, informative, easy to communicate with, flexible, and made the drives go by so fast. We learned so much about the sites and about Greek life. Very nice and interesting people. Overall, I highly recommend this company!
Driver provided a nice experience including an unexpected stop at Lake Vouliagmeni. Area surrounding Poseidon's Temple was very beautiful! Unfortunately the day was very cloudy so the sunset was a disappointment (obviously not the tours fault :)). Although the food was excellent at the seaside restaurant the experience to be expected and what we could order at the restaurant should have been more clearly explained. We did not know what food was included for what we paid for so just followed what the waiter said to order. It would have been nice to know how this worked ahead of time.
Our evening trip to Sounios and the Temple of Poseidon was spectacular. Fortis, our guide was amazing. The van was clean and comfortable and deluxe. I recommend MyAthensTransfers without hesitation. I would use them again and again.
The temple of Poseidon was a little disappointing. There were only 2 signs explaining the area. The highlight of the trip was the drive along the seacoast, and the inclusive meal. We were able to sample all types of seafood. Yanni, our driver, was excellent. He answered lots of our questions about the economics of Greece today as well as some history of the area.
Nick did a great job. Was early and drove very safely. Trip down to Temple of Poseidon was beautiful. Very good knowledge of the area and historic sites. Also took us to Lycabettus Hill - spectacular views of Athens.
It was a great experience. Niko shares some interesting facts about the city and the temple. The conversation was interesting and very pleasant. Dinner was outstanding and the restaurant was great. I will recommend this trip to anyone who wants to have exceptional memories. Overall, 20 out of 10.
Nice, experienced driver. Solo passenger with driver. Kind, polite, informative. Very relaxing day. This is recommended if you are looking for a day trip to see the Temple
It is a relaxing great 1/2 day trip outside of Athens. The coast is lovely and the solitude at the temple was impressive. We were there during the day on a sunny calm December AM. Picked out our fresh sea bass from their ice chest and had a memorable lunch looking out at the sea. Our guide Aris taught us about celebrating the holidays in December in Greece.
Wonderful driver on a scenic tour. The food was fantastic. Cape Sounio was so beautiful and our guide was very knowledgeable
We had an amazing evening with Yiannis M who drove us from our airbnb in Athens out to the see the gorgeous sunset at Cape Sounio / Temple of Poseidon. We also stopped for a couple additional photos along the way. He was highly knowledgeable, friendly, fun and also a great driver! There were 3 of us and we were super comfortable in Yiannis' car. Highly recommend!
This was a great tour down the coast to Cape Sounio! Nikos was our driver and guide and he was fantastic. It was a gorgeous drive down the coast and the time at Temple of Poseidon. While sunset visits are popular, we were there in the morning and it was so quiet. We thought it was much more enjoyable experience than the Parthenon. You could get close and take your time without all the crowds. We added the lunch option and Nikos took us to a wonderful family seaside restaurant with time to relax. It was a great tour.
Kostantinos is a wealth of knowledge, and entertained us throughout our drive. The sites are breathtaking. He also took us to an amazing restaurant, 4 Brothers, where we enjoyed wonderful fresh food and a beautiful sunset.
Our driver was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable of the area and attractions too. We had a great view of Poseidon that day and he helped make our day very enjoyable and relaxing. He even let us stop for 10 extra minutes for changing of the guards as it was along the way back. Thanks for a great day!
Fantastic experience! Very comfortable and unstressful. Picked up on time in a nice vehicle with Wifi and waters. Tour guide Spyros spoke was a great tour guide and spoke great English. Temple of Poseidon is well worth the excursion from Athens and rivaled the Parthenon as a highlight. Also had the best dinner all trip!
The food is so delicious and tour guide, George is so nice! We had a wonderful time! Thank you, George!
Very nice private drive from Athens to Poseidons temple on an amazing promontory. We missed the sunset due to weather but had a great lunch overlooking the waves crashing. Our driver did an excellent job circumventing road closures and unexpected protests. We were glad to have included this in our visit.
Notis was a fabulous guide to Poseidon’s Temple. He is extremely knowledgeable about Greece, past and present! He answered every question we had and we loved our time with him. For lunch he took us to a great restaurant and we had a delicious Greek salad and fish. We highly recommend this tour! We highly recommend Notis!
The sunset was beautiful and the ride along the coast to get there was lovely. The dinner on the way home was delicious and the service very hospitable.
It was a beautiful drive but much too hard for us to walk up to the Temple. Lunch was very good. However, our guide Michael was very hard for us to understand. He was very attentive but we didn’t catch much of what he was explaining. So all in all it wasn’t worth $333 to take a drive and have some lunch
I love when the tour guide shows up on time and George was early and very friendly. Mercedes E Series was a plus. Very safe driver on a pretty seaside drive. He was very knowledgeable and did a fabulous job of recounting the real history of the area. Loved the politics especially. The walk up to the temple was easy and the view from the top was a bonus. He took us to an excellent waterfront place for lunch. There was plenty of great food and the service was fabulous. Dropped us right at the front door of our hotel.
Excellent, on-time safe driver . We took the non-food option of the tour. Smooth experience in all aspects. Breath taking Temple of Poseidon location..Nick brought us to a beach below the temple for picnic I brought. Could not have been better
Our driver Demitris was so kind and considerate. He took our needs into consideration and was prompt. He went out of his way to do what we wanted in the visit. The lunch stop was delicious-the food was so fresh!
Chris arrived to pick us up early and accommodated with our luggage. Showed many things in Athens and brought us to a Greek restaurant , which was very delicious! The gentlemen there treated us very kindly also. Chris answered all our questions and then at the end of the day dropped us off at our next hotel ! Which saves us time and money!
My husband and I truly enjoyed our tour, our driver-guide was beyond wonderful, we learned so much about the history of Greece and the specific area we were visiting. Dinner was at a restaurant on the coast, beautiful view, great service and fabulous food. Do not hesitate booking this tour,
Very nice tour. We were picked up from Piraeus port after our cruise. Our driver took us to Cape Sounio, let us take our time there and then we had lunch at a local Greek restaurant by the water. The food was delicious and the staff friendly. My husband said that he has never had such fresh calamari in his life that he had at this restaurant and raved about the fish he ate too. We loved it. After our lunch our driver took us to the airport as we were leaving Athens that day. We did pay 90euros extra for airport drop off. In my opinion, well worth it as we had our bags and had a private driver for a day.
This was one of the most pleasant, informative and interesting tours I have ever been on. Kostas answered all of our questions and then some. It was wonderful to have a private Mercedes to drive along the coast and each and every stop was a picturesque representation of beautiful Greek coastal life. Highly recommend!
Although this was the hottest of hottest days, Spiros was fantastic. The Temple of Poseidon is my favorite place and we were going to be in Athens so decided for my birthday to go see it. Because of the heat, they closed the temple down but he got us as close as he could. It was just as spectacular as I remembered. Along the way, Spiros stopped and showed us sights and took pictures for us. Gave us some history and all sorts of wonderful local facts. He was a wonderful driver…more like a guide. Oh, did I mention, he had water for us and kept the air conditioner on high the entire drive? The unexpected stop at the Acropolis museum was the best ending to our day. He gave us the inside scoop as to where to get in and where to go once inside. He got us back to our ship in plenty of time. A true gentleman. Thanks Spiros!
Spyros was an absolute gem. I cannot imagine a better driver and he really made the experience amazing.
Iris was an excellent host!!! My kids love his enthusiasm telling us the stories of his culture and ancestors! We love his respectful manner! Thank you Iris!
We enjoyed this tour—it’s a nice break from the city. When we were picked up I told the driver I needed coffee (after a long flight) so he took us to a nice spot for coffee and pastries. The drive down the coast is beautiful. The temple of Poseidon was not crowded early in the day and the visit was leisurely and relaxed. The lunch was in a gorgeous spot on the water with delicious food. We were picked up at the airport and dropped off at the cruise port at the end of the day. Would highly recommend this activity and company.
It was a wonderful experience! Notos was a great guide and driver. The Poseidon Temple was interesting and the coastal views were spectacular. We had a delicious seafood lunch with a view and we managed to squeeze in a swim too!
Our very first day trip on the day that we arrived in Greece. Our driver was George and he was great. Friendly, punctual and gave many good tips and shared stories. We started our tour at 5pm, and made a stop at We made a stop at Lake Vouliagmeni before stopping at a restaurant recommended by George, I think it is called "4 Brothers" (or something similar) and we had a great seafood dinner before our visit to Cape Sounio and the Temple of Poseidon. We arrived abbout 730pm, just in time for the wonderful sunset, a red fiery one and we captured many great photos. We snoozed on our way back to Athens due to abit of jetlag, maybe because the ride was so comfortable due to George's careful driving. We are glad to choose this company, and happy that George was our assigned driver for this trip.
