Itinerary
You will visit the sacred grounds of the Acropolis, including the historic Areopagus Hill—also known as Mars Hill—where the Apostle Paul delivered one of his most powerful and moving sermons. Standing before the council of the Athenians, he spoke about the “Unknown God,” challenging the prevailing beliefs of the time and introducing the message of Christianity to the intellectual heart of the ancient world. This stop offers a profound spiritual and historical experience, connecting you directly to the footsteps of St. Paul and the early days of the Christian faith.
We will stop at the impressive Corinth Canal, a 19th-century engineering marvel that connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf, separating mainland Greece from the Peloponnese. Though completed in modern times, the idea dates back over 2,000 years to Periander, ruler of ancient Corinth, who first envisioned a shortcut for ships. Before its construction, vessels had to sail an extra 185 nautical miles around the Peloponnese. The canal stands today as a symbol of Corinth’s historical importance and strategic significance during Paul’s time.
Dating back to antiquity, this engineering marvel facilitated the transport of ships across the Isthmus of Corinth, connecting the Aegean and Ionian Seas. As travelers explore this ancient site, they can imagine the bustling activity of merchants and sailors, including those whom St. Paul may have encountered on his journeys. With its rich history and strategic importance, the Diolkos offers a tangible link to the maritime world of St. Paul's time, inviting visitors to step back in time and immerse themselves in the cultural tapestry of ancient Corinth.
Just a short distance from the Corinth Canal lies the ancient site of Isthmia, once home to the second most significant athletic competition of the ancient world after the Olympics—the Isthmian Games. Held in honor of Poseidon, these games attracted athletes and spectators from across the Greek world, and the site itself occupied a key strategic position where the Peloponnese meets mainland Greece. Apostle Paul’s presence in Isthmia holds deep historical and spiritual significance. The Bible makes reference to his time in the region, where he is believed to have worked as a tentmaker, providing shelter for athletes and travelers attending the games. This marks one of the earliest recorded presences of a Christian figure at a major public event in the ancient world. As he lived and worked among the people, Paul took the opportunity to share the message of Christ with the diverse audiences drawn to the Isthmian Games, making it a powerful moment of early Christian outreach.
As part of our journey in St. Paul’s footsteps, we visit the Archaeological Museum of Isthmia, which offers valuable insight into the cultural and spiritual world that surrounded the Apostle during his time in the region. The museum houses artifacts from the sanctuary of Poseidon, where the Isthmian Games took place—an event Paul likely witnessed and referenced in his letters. He worked nearby as a tentmaker, serving athletes and travelers, while using the opportunity to spread the message of Christ. Among the museum’s highlights are glass panels from Kenchreai, the port from which Paul departed for Syria, symbolizing the crossroads of faith, culture, and commerce. These beautifully preserved artworks, along with statues, votive offerings, and burial finds, paint a vivid picture of the diverse world where Paul lived, worked, and preached the gospel.
Your visit to Ancient Corinth takes you to one of the most important cities of early Christianity. Strategically located on the isthmus between mainland Greece and the Peloponnese, Corinth was a thriving cultural and commercial hub in antiquity. The Apostle Paul lived and preached here for over 18 months, as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles. His letters to the Corinthians—First and Second Corinthians—addressed the challenges of the early Christian community and remain central texts in the New Testament. At the site, you’ll see the Bema (judgment seat) where Paul likely stood before the Roman proconsul Gallio, offering a powerful connection between scripture and history in the very place where Paul’s mission unfolded.
At the Archaeological Site of Isthmia, you’ll explore a major center of ancient worship and athletics closely tied to St. Paul’s mission. The Temple of Poseidon, rebuilt multiple times, stood as a symbol of pagan tradition during Paul’s time in the region. Nearby is the ancient stadium, home to the famous Isthmian Games. Paul likely witnessed these games and worked as a tentmaker for visiting athletes, using the occasion to spread the Christian message. His letters often reflect athletic imagery drawn from experiences like this. Also on site is the Sanctuary of Palaimon, dedicated to the protector of sailors—another sign of the diverse beliefs Paul encountered and challenged during his ministry.
At the ancient theater of Isthmia, built for musical events of the Isthmian Games, you’ll witness the cultural backdrop of St. Paul’s ministry. Surrounded by Roman mosaics depicting sea creatures and Dionysian myths, this theater reflects the rich but pagan world Paul encountered. While the crowds gathered here for entertainment and religious festivals, Paul preached a radically different message—one of faith in Christ. This stop highlights the contrast between the spiritual life of the time and the new Christian faith Paul proclaimed.
Isthmia was not only a center of worship and athletic competition, but also a historic meeting place for critical political and military decisions in ancient Greece. Its strategic location made it the ideal site for gatherings of great significance. By the time of St. Paul’s arrival in Corinth, Isthmia already carried deep symbolic and political weight. Paul preached in a region known not just for its games and temples, but also as a gathering point for leaders, philosophers, and international delegates. His message of unity in Christ offered a spiritual counterpart to the political alliances once formed here—proclaiming not earthly power, but a higher kingdom. This stop emphasizes how Paul’s ministry unfolded in places of real influence, where new ideas were exchanged and history was made.
At the heart of Ancient Corinth, you will visit the striking Temple of Apollo, one of the oldest and most significant temples in Greece. Built around 560 BC, it is an early example of Doric architecture, notable for its monolithic limestone columns, which remain standing as a powerful symbol of Corinth’s ancient grandeur. When St. Paul arrived in Corinth, he would have seen this temple towering above the city—a center of worship dedicated to Apollo, god of music, prophecy, and light. Its prominence reflects the deeply pagan and polytheistic environment in which Paul preached. In this very city, surrounded by such temples and their followers, Paul boldly proclaimed the message of one God and Jesus Christ crucified, challenging the spiritual foundations of a wealthy and diverse population. The Temple of Apollo serves as a dramatic backdrop to Paul's mission, highlighting the contrast between the old world of idols and temples and the new faith he introduced.
At Kechries—the site of ancient Cenchreae, the eastern port of Corinth—you’ll walk in the footsteps of St. Paul, who stopped here during his second missionary journey, as mentioned in Acts 18:18. Before departing for Syria with Priscilla and Aquila, Paul cut his hair to fulfill a vow, likely a Nazirite vow, marking a moment of personal devotion to God. Cenchreae was also home to one of the earliest Christian communities. In his letter to the Romans, Paul commends Phoebe, a respected servant (diakonos) of the church in Cenchreae, showing the growth of the faith and the important role of women in the early Church. This quiet coastal site today offers a powerful connection to Paul’s journey, where faith met mission, and where the Gospel set sail once again.
This church honors the Apostle Paul, who spent 18 months in Corinth around 51–52 AD, founding one of the earliest Christian communities in Greece. Mentioned in the Book of Acts and in his letters to the Corinthians, Paul’s time in Corinth was deeply influential. From here, he preached, taught, and established what would become the metropolitan church of Corinth, shaping the spiritual life of the early Church. Today, the church stands as a living tribute to Paul’s mission—a place of reflection where faith and history meet, in the very city where the Gospel once took root through his voice.
At Ancient Corinth (Archaia Korinthos), you will visit the Bema, a prominent stone platform in the Roman Forum, closely tied to St. Paul’s ministry. During his stay in Corinth around 51–52 AD, Paul was brought before the Roman proconsul Gallio, accused of illegal teachings. As recorded in the Book of Acts, Gallio dismissed the case, seeing it as a religious dispute and refusing to intervene. This event was a turning point, allowing Paul to continue preaching in Corinth without Roman interference. The Bema later became a Christian worship site in the Byzantine period, underscoring its importance in early Church history. Standing here, you’ll be at the very place where Paul defended his faith—a powerful moment of courage and conviction.
Enjoy a relaxing lunch at a traditional seaside Greek taverna.
Akrokorinthos, the imposing fortress towering above Ancient Corinth, holds significance in the footsteps of St. Paul. As visitors ascend its ancient walls, they follow the path believed to have been traveled by the apostle. From its strategic vantage point, St. Paul would have gazed upon the city below, perhaps reflecting on his mission and teachings to the Corinthians. Today, Akrokorinthos offers panoramic views and a profound connection to the spiritual journey of St. Paul, inviting visitors to walk in his footsteps and contemplate the enduring legacy of his presence in this historic site.

Panos, our guide was excellent. My wife and I were the only persons in the car, which enhanced the experience of a private tour. Panos was easy to talk to and is very knowledgeable about ancient history. He was very receptive to our questions. Seeing Corinth and learning about the culture and Paul’s time there gave us a better understanding of his letters to the church. I highly recommend this private tour
George was very prompt to pick us up, and he let us know he was on his way and his arrival time. He was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. He had a vast range of information and was able to answer all of our questions. He communicated with us very well and the van was immaculate. He let us spend as much time as we wanted at each stop, while giving us guidelines which helped. The sights we saw were wonderful. The canal was fascinating and the ancient port was really great. We loved seeing the old road that was used thousands of years ago before the canal. The ruins of ancient Corinth were very interesting as we were able to wander the area looking at the temple of Apollo and the Bema seat where Paul was dragged into court. We also went through the museum and saw the ruins of houses, churches and shops. George took us to the Acropolis of Corinth and we were able to hike all the way to the top of the mountain where the 360 degree view was amazing. It was a very strenuous hike, but well worth it. We had time to grab a snack or do some shopping as well. All in all a great day. We would highly recommend this tour, especially if you get George as your driver.
The title is inaccurate. There was nothing from Paul’s letters to the Corinthians, only a few verses from Acts. I booked this because I thought there would be biblical insights on the letters and who the Corinthians were, at least more than the little bit of insight we got. Not having a licensed guide also meant that we were clueless about what we were looking at in the old city ruins because he could not go in.
Spyros arrived early and explained important points as we drove to various sites. The tour was as described when we booked it. He waited while we entered sites to view them on our own.
Alex was our host and driver, his kindness, dedication and attention made our tour be great!! He has very excellent knowledge about all places visited and drive us to extract all essential parts of the tour. I strongly recommend him to support and help everyone which wants have a tour in Greece! Tks Alex for your great job!! Denis
We absolutely loved this experience! Alex, our driver, was exceptional. He was friendly and easy to understand. He came prepared with scripture references and read several passages to us before we visited some of the sites. He patiently answered all of our questions and never made us feel rushed. We picked an extremely hot time of year to visit… Alex had the AC going and cold water waiting for us at our seats when we returned from hiking around the sites. Be sure to wear appropriate shoes for hiking… some of the ancient stone walkways are slick and steep. This tour was definitely a highlight of our time in Greece!
Panos was a gem! An absolute delight! He kept us informed and entertainment with details of St Paul’s journey and Greece in general. Our teens and us as parents really enjoyed the journey and learning!
Panos was our tour guide and he was excellent. From pick up to drop off he was engaging and personable. He was very knowledgeable about the tour and many cultural and social issues in Greece ( past and present). He even told us about significant places we passed. He even could tell we were still weary from traveling from the US and told us on the way back to Athens we could nap. lol Being in a private car was great, it was comfortable, very clean and we could go at our own pace.
This was a very enjoyable and interesting tour. We did not go to Mars Hill as we had previously visited the Acropolis, but that gave us more time at the other locations. Our driver, George, was extremely personable and knowledgeable, and we learned a lot about not only the sites we visited, but also about Greece in general. We did not feel rushed at the sites, and by starting at 7am from our Airbnb in Piraeus, we beat the majority of tourists for the day.
Alex was polite ,very knowledgeable, very personable, and very patient. I highly suggest asking for him by name.
This was everything we hoped for and more. We loved every minute of this tour and learned so much. The experience truly enhanced our understanding of the apostle Paul’s writings. It was good to get out of the big city and see some of the countryside too. Our guide and driver were so nice and easy to spend the day with.
This was the best. Our driver was brilliant! We saw everything we wanted to see. He did a great job accommodating my special needs. We were able to add a couple quick stops for things we needed. We truly felt like we walked in the footsteps of Paul throughout the day!
This trip was a great way to visit the Corinth area at our own pace. Our guide/driver, Alex, was informative and made the trip very easy. We visited a variety of different places from churches to archeological remains and the scenery was spectacular.
This was a wonderful and laid back tour experience. George knew a lot about Athens and, though drivers aren’t allowed into the sites as a guide, we still learned a lot from him. He was kind and flexible…and being able to be where Paul was and see what he saw was amazing.
George was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable of the area. He provided a great review of history. I would recommend this tour.
This was a memorable and wonderful trip! Spyros and Dimitri were wonderful - knowledgeable and gracious and friendly and fun . We recommend this trip so highly - it created magical memories. Not to be missed - truly one of a kind!!!
Great experience. Spiros was waiting for us at the port and we spent the entire day exploring the 3 Corinthian cities.
What a wonderful experience! Got to see amazing sites… Even things that were off the beaten track. Fantastic guide! Would totally do it again!
Amazing private tour of Corinth which allowed the flexibility to explore at our own pace and Panos our driver was warm and lovely to share his knowlege with us. Fantastic day!!!
wonderful experience with this tour company. Tour date 10/7/25. Hotel pick-up was on time and the vehicle was very roomy, comfortable and clean. Our tour guide was Alex. He was a very approachable and down to earth with a wealth of information about Greek history & culture and his communication skills were excellent. We had lots of questions and Alex had the answers as to who, what, when, where and why on every site we visited, then we were free to explore and take pictures without feeling rushed. The history of the Corinth canal was one of the highlights of this tour. I highly recommend this company and this tour. If possible, ask for Alex, who, by the way is also an excellent driver. He got us up the mountain in a driving rain storm on a narrow, slippery street. What a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this company, this tour and the tour guide.
AVOID THIS TOUR! They gave us a taxi, not a van or a more comfortable car. The worst part was the driver, Stephanos, a disrespectful, radical, left-wing extremist who blurted his deeply misguided ideology with no restraint during the trip. Shameful. He should be fired. We were so fed up with him that we aborted the tour and went back to the hotel. A really terrible experience and a waste of money. Please choose another tour and another company.
Visiting the Corinth Canal and Ancient Corinth was a very worthwhile experience even though it was some distance away from the port.
Being in the same locations Paul preached the Gospel was inspirational. Alex gave us insight to how Paul traveled and encountered in Corinth. I was captivated by many of the scenes. Paul truly went everywhere to get the Good News to the people.
Thank you so much to SPIROS and Athens Taxi Travel for providing an incredible full day private tour at a very reasonable price. My mother was very eager to see the steps of St Paul and Spiros was very knowledgeable, welcoming, and kind. He told us many stories and explained each stop and its history in depth! It’s our first time in Greece and we couldn’t have asked for a better tour it was exactly what we wanted. If you are a family and want a private tour I highly recommend this company, everything was easy from pick up to drop off. Water and WiFi was provided in the car. My family had an unforgettable experience!! Thank you again ❤️
Michael our driver and our tour guide Mr Pantelis were excellent. Mr Pantelis is so knowledgeable and brought Corinth to life for us. Michael was a great driver.
This tour fully met our expectations. Our driver was on time, and was very professional and flexible. As we had already seen the Parthenon and Mars Hill, he skipped that and we used the time for things in Corinth that we had not seen. He gave us great information along the way, and showed a genuine interest in making sure we saw all of the important places.
Alex was a wonderful tour guide and was very helpful and informative about the whole tour. We were able to go at our own pace and never felt rushed. Alex helped us make the most out of our short stay in Athens.
Definitely a must day trip! Our driver, Panos, was very knowledgeable, courteous, and made sure we stayed hydrated! The sites were really cool and not busy at all.
Spyros was Awesome and very informative & knowledgeable about Paul's stay in Corinth. He answered all of our crazy questions and was friendly and easy to chat with. We were a little slow paced, but he extended the time to ensure we saw all the stops in the tour!
George was very knowledgeable and took his time with us. Answered all questions throughly and gave you a real since of where and when St Paul had been ,and what he was doing every step along the way. The churches were beautiful with every inch painted with timelines of Jesus, the Apostles , St. Paul and mother Mary. The hike to the top of the Castle fortress is forth every step up the hill with breathtaking views and scenery. He also suggested and excellent restaurant Marinos, food was divine. I highly recommend this tour and this tour guide.
Our driver Panos was fantastic. It was really nice getting out of the city and having some time with just us. Panos was not a professional guide however, he was very knowledgeable and provided us with volumes of information about Paul’s journey and the local area. The walk up to Acrocorinth was strenuous but well worth it. The layers of history are truly amazing. While up there, don’t miss the small Church with beautiful frescos. This was a great day. Well worth it. Thank you Panos!
We were able to ser al the places listed but we felt very rushed. The experience description said it would take 8 hours approximately. But by hour 6 we were back home. We like to take our time as this is super important to us. But the guide kept directing my husband to follow him along. That pace didn’t work for us
I really enjoyed this tour. Spyros was very knowledgeable and took good care of us. It was great to learn about Paul’s time in Greece, particularly in Corinth. I most enjoyed getting the opportunity to hike part way up Acrocorinth.
Spyros did a great job of explaining and pointing things out along the way. He is very knowledgeable in all things Greek. Spyros is an excellent driver, making our group feel very comfortable.I highly recommend Spyros!
We had a great experience with Spiros touring ancient Corinth - saw the Roman road, location where Paul worked, port where he baptized first Corinth Christians, and the ruins of the ancient city. Museum at ruins was great. We also went to the local acropolis, and hiked up to the summit, viewing Roman and Venetian fortifications along the way. Spiros told us only 10% of the visitors make it to the top! Tour included lunch at a local restaurant, which was fantastic. Spiros also stopped so we could see some of the local Orthodox churches and explained some of their significance. We also enjoyed just talking with him during the drive about his family, life in Greece, and other things we saw along the way. A thoroughly enjoyable day!
Our tour guide was Spyros and he was terrific! He was waiting at the agreed upon time and place, with a spacious vehicle and plenty of cold water. He shared such a wealth of knowledge about Athens, Corinth and each of the places he took us on our tour. He gave us personal options and choices that suited us well and used the time most wisely. A most memorable part of our trip. I highly recommend this tour and especially taken Spyros!
Our tour guide/driver for the day, Spyros was knowledgeable and very accommodating. Flexible to change the itinerary to suit our needs and the weather, and still able to show us everything.
Excellent tour. Our driver Spyros was exceptional and enjoyable, with great knowledge of the sites associated with Paul.
Kostas was very knowledgeable and helpful. We highly recommend him whether scholar or novice. The stops were amazing with the views and information provided by Kostas.
Driver/guide was informative, knowledable, flexable and made this a memorable day in St. Pauls footsteps.
Very informative. Many beautiful photo opportunities. Especially liked the mosaic of St Paul’s life at the church.
What a great opportunity to be in the area where history occurred. We didn’t hire a private guide which I wish we did. Our driver kept on with telling us take our time which ended up causing us to miss out on a couple if stops.
Corinth and Paul make for a fascinating tour! Pericles, our guide, was very knowledgeable and made the day very fun. We stopped at a half dozen places, but highlights were definitely the museum and site at Ancient Corinth and the Castle that overlooks Corinth. In Ancient Corinth you have a chance to see a sprawling town from antiquity with a wonderful and descriptive adjacent museum. It's not nearly as crowded as some of the Athens sites and you can really get a feel for how life flowed 2000 years ago. The castle was remarkable (wear sturdy shoes if you plan to hike much - the stone roads/paths can be slippery and sharp), and the views were truly amazing. We spent about a half a day on site in Corinth with a meal at the end in a local seaside restaurant that was a real treat. Pericles told great stories and adapted to our pace - a very professional guide. All in, we'd highly recommend the experience.
Driver Mike is a friend now! He was very very kind and gave a lot of historical information. He took us to the best local spots for foods and stuff in between sites. Defenitely recommend him and Kostas tours.
Excellent tour. We spent the day traveling with an excellent driver, Pericles, who has been showing people the historical sites of Paul for 25 years. We visited the Corinth Canal, ancient Corinth, the beach where Paul baptized Corinthians, and St Paul's Church. Pericles knows the history and details of Paul's ministry.
Our tour guide for the Saint Paul Ancient Corinth Tour was amazing. One of the nicest and most informative persons I have ever met. He helped us understand some of the original meanings of words..names...places. He went the extra step to get us into a Greek Orthodox church so we could look around - absolutely beautiful inside! There were six of us in our family. The van was spacious, clean, and comfortable. He even took us on a couple of side trips to seem some great sights. His knowledge of the history of Paul and the Corinth was amazing. He was so appreciative of us having come to visit his country. He was proud of his Greece - and rightly so.
Wow we had a great time in our Corinth trip with Constantine! He was full of history and Christ. He worked very hard to make sure we had a good time. He was considerate and patient, letting us have all the time we needed at each activity. We loved it all. Highly recommend. Frank, Sherri, Bobby and Katerina
Very enjoyable trip from Athens to Corinth. Pericles was very knowledgeable and enjoyed sharing historical details about his home country.
I would highly recommend taking this day trip. The countryside, especially the temple of Apollo, was so beautiful and all our family, ages 11 through 78, enjoyed the trip immensely. Konstantjos was our guide and he was wonderful. He was courteous, never rushed us, and shared many interesting facts about the area and history of Greece along the way. The van was very clean and comfortable. Don't miss it!
