Itinerary
At the time of your choice, your informative & professional Tour driver will be at your Hotel reception or other residence promptly to escort you on your tour. Delphi is situated in the area of Mt. Parnassus and from Athens, your route passes through a beautiful mix of rural farmland and increasing elevation along with wonderful hillside views. Along the way, learn about the depth of History in Delphi, its Mythology, the cultural elements of ancient life, and all the main things you will see during your visit.
Set in beautiful countryside on the slopes of Mt Parnassos we next visit one of the most important and well preserved Byzantine Monasteries in existence, & which is UNESCO listed. Explore its 1100 year old Architecture along with its unique & impressive fresco's
Lunch Stop. Spend time enjoying the local craft shops & wonderful views over the Plestos valley.
Inset on wide terraces along the hillside we are fortunate that the landslides of previous centuries preserved much of the ancient remains for us, including the 4th century BC temple of Apollo, the Castilian spring of Mythology, theatre, treasury buildings, temples of Athena and Gymnasium where athletes gathered before the Pythian games to bathe in the sacred waters. During your visit to Delphi, you can still see the physical structures associated with this incredibly long history.
At a short distance inside the Archaeological site, you will find the 4th century BC temple of Apollo, the epicenter of the mystical ceremony from where the Oracle spoke her prophecies.
A beautiful addition to the site is the modern museum which displays finds stretching back in time to at least 1500 BC, including many of the sculptures & other unique pieces that adorned the temples & streets of the ancient city at its peak around the 4th century BC. Outstanding pieces include the Naxos Sphynx, the twin Kouroi, and famous Bronze Charioteer among others. When you are ready, your driver will return you safely to your location in Athens.

We had a wonderful day with Petros. He was informative and entertaining at the same time. We saw the main sites of Corinth but also a few off the beaten path gems. A must do tour if you are on a cruise stop in Athens and have seen the sights in town and are looking to see something new. We were originally scheduled to go to Delphi but discovered that it would take most of the day to drive there and back. If you are on a cruise stop, be careful what you book. Not all tours provide enough information in their booking description.
This was one of our highlights of our trip to Greece! Our driver Petro was amazing and gave us so much information.
I think the most important thing we did was add the local English speaking guide to join us on site. She was very knowledgeable, local and understandable. It really made the day enjoyable and educational.
Terry was a fabulous and knowledgeable guide! He picked us up at our hotel, whisked us out of the city, regaling us with stories of Greek mythology and ancient history. We stopped at a 1500 year old monastery, ate lunch at a family owned restaurant and then spent the rest of our day touring the ruins of Delphi. My daughter and I enjoyed the drive out into the countryside and appreciated Terry’s candor and command of Greek history. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
We have used warm penguin before and have never been disappointed, this tour was no exception. The guide was prompt, informative, well educated and friendly. The tour was amazing including the lunch and view. We would highly recommend.
It was a dream tour through the history - from Athens to Arachova near the famous mount Parnassos, then Delfi and its temples and finally Osios Loukas monastery. The top of the day was a lunch in Delfi with a breathtaking view to the mountains and excellent local food. Our driver Yiannis told us a lot of stories about history of Greece and about mythology. What a wonderful day!
From the moment our driver, Mario, picked us up at our hotel in the morning until he returned us safely in the evening, we were comfortable, informed and entertained. We learned as much from Mario as we did from the sites on the tour ... about Greek culture, history, education, economics, family traditions and more. My only regret is that we didn’t get a photo of Mario, who was expecting the birth of his first child this winter. We wish him well! A wonderful day. Highly recommend.
I cant spell or pronounce our Greek drivers’ name, but he said it is “Will or William” in English. He was wonderful!! We couldn’t have asked for a more professional or courteous expert....thankful for the experience we were able to share with our friends! Communication was easy, request were obliged and we never felt rushed. Lunch was incredible. This was more than a five star experience. Thanks for exceeding our expectations!
Our party of seven had two Fabulous days with Demetrius! He was very polite, courteous, professional, Very knowledgeable regarding history, Fun to be with, and extremely accommodating in every way! We had two beautiful lunches at some of his favorites and they were phenomenal! He is definitely an asset to the company, genuine and absolutely deserves a huge raise!
Great day! Our driver,Mario, was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating! Lunch was some of best food we had on our trip.
We did this trip on 18 Aug (2 adults and 3 teens). Pickup was punctual. Nice clean air conditioned van. Janos our driver was very knowledgeable and informative. He took us through most of Greek history during the journey - which took just under 2 hours. First stop was the Temple of Athena, then we had a guide to take us round the Delphi Museum then the site itself. The guide was very informative re architecture, Greek and roman periods. After the visit we had lunch in an excellent restaurant overlooking part of the Gulf of Corinth Some tips 1) Bring your passport (to get in for free in student or < 18) 2) Wear sensible shoes - Delphi stones can be slippy Overall an excellent trip - a little bit expensive - but more than worth it
we had a wonderful adventure with our guide Vissilis aka "Bill" - the entire day what memories we made and the history we learned. The visit to the Monastary was inspiring. The Delphi - just like the magazine cover of National Geographic; so much to see and that's just it, you get to see and experience it all! The place we stopped for lunch had incredible food and the most breathtaking view. Book "Bill" - the time you spend with him and his expansive knowledge of his Greece is priceless
If you are looking to get out of Athens for a day-trip to Delphi and some beautiful mountain scenery, this trip is perfect. Notis, our driver and guide, was wonderful. He was warm, friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable about the area, the mythology, history, and culture surrounding the sites. We began at the Hosios Loukas Monastery, which was stunningly beautiful, then made our way to the picturesque mountainside town of Arachova for lunch. Views were amazing and food was equally good. Finally, we did a walking tour of Delphi, the museum and archeological site. This requires us to leave Notis and join another licensed guide for the site. She was just Ok, but the Delphi museum and site were a must-see. Perfect for a customizable private tour experience.
Our guide, Val, was exceptionally warm, friendly, and professional. He put the tour destinations into an enlightening historical context and also gave us insight about life in Greece today. Not only were Delphi and the Temple of Athena Pronaia spectacular, Val went out of his way to show us Livadia, a scenic town that is not a tourist destination. Lunch in the modern town of Delphi, with a great view overlooking the Gulf of Corinth, was delicious and an ideal opportunity to reflect on all we had learned. To top it off, Val’s tips for the rest of our stay in Athens were right on target and very helpful. Our car was a spotless and very comfortable Mercedes sedan. We were happy that we started the trip early, at 0730.
We did the private tour with our two kids (9 and 4 years). Organising the tour via email with David was easy, who offered reasonable pricing and responsive service. Our guide/driver was Notise who was an absolute gem. He was very knowledgeable about Greek history and current affairs. But more importantly, he was very considerate that we were travelling with 2 young children and made the tour as comfortable as possible. Overall the tour took about 8-hours (8am start and back at Athens hotel by 6pm), including a stop for a traditional Greek lunch. We also used Warmpenguine for an Athens historical half day tour which was also very well organised. We highly recommend their service.

We had a wonderful day with David! He knows a lot about the places, he is a calm, interesting guide and very, very helpful - That was a day we'll never forget! Thanks!
