Greece’s most famous monument that houses the pride and crown jewel of Athens, the Parthenon. Dedicated to the city’s ancient patron, Athena – the Goddess of wisdom, the Parthenon is globally considered an enduring symbol of Democracy, Culture and Civilization. Housed on top and in the surroundings of the sacred rock are some of the most important sites of the capital’s ancient heritage, such as: Propylaea, the entrance to the rock. The Temple of Wingless Victory, which was devoted to Goddess Athena-Nike. Erechtheum, with the temple’s best-known feature being its south porch, whose roof, instead of being supported on columns, rested on the heads of six Korai statues – the famous Caryatides. The Odeon of Herodes Atticus, a 5000-seat stone Roman theatre which was carved into the rock and is still used for music festivals The Theatre of Dionysus where the Athenians listened to the immortal works of Sophocles, Aeschylus, Euripides and Aristophanes.
We continue our tour by passing by the Temple of Olympian Zeus – King of the Greek Pantheon. The now half-ruined temple, which is also known as Olympieion, was at its peak consisted of 104 columns of 17 meters (56 ft) high and 2 m (6 ft 7 in) in diameter!
Following the visit to the temple, we will make a brief stop at the Panathenaic Stadium, also known as Kallimarmaro, a multi-purpose stadium, where the first modern Olympics were held in 1896. Interesting fact! The Panathenaic Stadium, also known as the Kalimarmaro, is the only stadium in the world that was built entirely out of marble.
Our next stop will be at the Greek parliament – a building which was originally built with the purpose of being the palace of Otto, the first King of Greece.
Housed outside of the Parliament building is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, guarded by the presidential guard. This light infantry unit, dressed in the traditional Evzone's uniform, conducts a famous changing of the guard ceremony.
We will then drive along Panepistimiou Street which connects Constitution (Syntagma) Square with Concord (Omonia) Square. During this short drive in the heart of the capital, you will come across three beautiful buildings: the Academy, the University and the National Library. Interesting fact! Constructed in the 19th century, these three mansions are commonly referred to as the “neo-classical trilogy” of Athens.
Our driving session continues with a stop at Lycabettus Hill, one of the city’s highest viewpoints, which offers one of the best panoramic views of downtown Athens and its suburbs.
The new Acropolis Museum opened in 2009 and is located under the south slope of the Acropolis. The museum contains mostly pediment sculptures, reliefs, and statues found on the sacred rock, which formed its decoration. Displaying over 4,000 exhibits, the Acropolis Museum is considered one of the best and most significant museums in the world.

Frank was GREAT. What a nice chap. Turned up exactly on time. Was very, very communicative with my questions and requests leading up to the trip. He took us around what we wanted to see and was very open to tailoring things to what was interesting to us. He also took us to a great local spot, out of the way, for lunch. We loved that. And he waited so he could drop us back to it out Airbnb afterwards. If you want a proper guide to take you around something like The Acropolis then book one of those. These tours aren't that. But seeing the city and getting and idea of things, learning some history and mythology and seeing the main sights, plus a local lunch if that appeals, you can't go wrong.
Was wonderful. Nothing negative to say. Gave us exactly what we wanted. Jimmy was the best!
For those who just want half-day to see the highlights of Athens it's a great option. Jimmy, our driver, was everything you need and with a bonuses of his own guide-like insights. They also got us (for the real price) the Acropolis tickets for 8AM - a must for getting there before the huge crowds that started appearing after 9AM. Great service!

The guide was very helpful and kind. we were able to communicate all our needs with HP tours via WhatsApp and they were very responsive to answer questions. Give us options. Adjust timings to make it comfortable. They even helped us get the best value tickets for the Acropolis without any price markup, which I really appreciate appreciated. From the moment I contacted H.P. Tours until our driver, Kyriakos, dropped us off at the airport the following day, our experience was 100% A+. Emails were responded to quickly and every request was greeted with positive professionalism. One member of our party had fallen at the beginning of our trip. She needed a wheelchair which was kindly provided and Kyriakos took excellent care of her when she was unable to visit a site in her wheelchair. Our guide, Helen, who works with H.P. Tasos was our driver and tour guide and did an excellent job! He was prompt in our pick up, communicated well, and knew how to keep us from the main crowds (although difficult in some of the popular sites). I highly recommend this tour! Please note that they recommend getting Acropolis tickets in advance (either on your own or they would get them for me, and we would reimburse our guide in cash). I got them for our group, and I got the wrong ones, but we were able to talk our way in. I highly recommend having them get them for you!!!!
Our driver, Tasos, was superb. Kind and very knowledgeable about the history of Athens. He catered our tour to our specific interests and was prepared with water, umbrellas, anything we needed. The van was also very clean, nice and comfortable. A top notch way to see Athens!

We had such a wonderful experience on our half-day Athens tour combined with a second day of another half-day trip to Cape Sounion. The balance between seeing the city highlights and then heading out along the beautiful coastal road to the Temple of Poseidon was perfect. Mario’s was excellent. Very professional airport pickup. Was a fantastic way to pick up at airport, see an overall view of the city and be delivered to our hotel (when our hotel room was ready!) Jimmy was the greatest! On our first day, Jimmy picked us up and we did a 5- hour tour of the city and the Acropolis. In the evening we did a 5-hour food tour. Both great. The 2nd day Jimmy took us in a relaxing drive along the Athens Riviera and to Poseidon's temple. A great way to spend 2 days in Athens!

We used H.P. Tours for both private transports and for the half-day tour. We had a larger group of 7 with 3 kids under 7, so we wanted the larger vehicle option instead of splitting into multiple cabs. They were fantastic on all fronts. They were on-time, communicated very well ahead of time in planning, helped with luggage, knew where they were going, and so on. Very professional. For our initial ride from the airport to the hotel, and then for our half-day tour, our driver was the wonderful Panos! He was an encyclopedia of knowledge, flexible, and very considerate of our group with small kids. He knew exactly where to go, navigated the tight streets very well, and answered pretty much every question we had for him with dates and detail. It was truly impressive.

Jimmy was extremely knowledgeable about Greek history And archeology. He gave Us a lot of information in a very interesting and entertaining way. He planned and modified our trip according to our needs and the heat. We had a great timr and saw all the sights we had hoped to in comfort. One of us has mobility limitations but Jimmy made it work for him to get to the sights.

What a wonderful tour!! Frank was our driver and guide. He spoke great English, was very friendly and very knowledgable about Athens. Entire day with Jimmy was excellent! Communication with his company prior to the day was great and they secured the tickets for the acropolis in advance. Acropolis was hot but incredible so definitely do that in the morning depending on time of year. We saw so many sites and jimmy accommodated how we wanted to spend the day. He recommended an excellent place for lunch, provided frequent water for us and the van had AC which was a lifesaver!! Highly recommend jimmy and his company and will use them again!

PANOS made this tour memorable!!! We did a half day tour of Athens. We were greeted and picked up in a nice Mercedes van , very clean. He was very professional. Panos was very knowledgeable, he explained a lot of about Greek history and we compared some things to Egyptian history alongside...he knew what he was talking about... he is very funny too. When we went on an uphill to see top of city, he was very courteous, waited for me as I took my time going upstairs with my knee injury and helped up the stairs... I asked his recommenddions for coffee and we all enjoyed our orders...I highly recommend getting tours with this company and specifically with Panos... you won't regret it!

Traffic is really challenging in Athens, but we saw significant sites and Jimmy provided great information along the way. We had prepaid for tickets to the Acropolis, with a time slot. Hello I just wanted to thank HP Tour for making our stay in Athens the most memorable and stress free experience . My background is Greek and my wife is Ukranian I had not visited greece for over 28 years and not sure about navigating a round greece from transportation to making the most to see the important sites in our short time there (2 1/2 days) before our European cruise out of Athens . I wanted to find a Service that would pick us up from the airport and provide all our transportation and tour needs all in one package. . I discovered HPTours on a YouTube advertisement they have which impressed me immensely . The fact that the video had the owner speaking proudly about his company and how he started it impressed me as I too am a self made businessman entrepreneur, so I contacted them. They responded quickly and professionally, which I appreciate this My needs and timeline were clearly understood and they clearly communicated and created a package to cater to my individual requests. I found their pricing to be very fair and reasonable. Clear instructions were sent to us. About the whole process and about the pick up at the airport, which was executed perfectly as we exited the baggage area waiting for us with our name on the sign was a a gentleman(Kyriakos) in dark suit and tie very professional, waiting for us. He quickly took our luggage and directed us to his black brand new Mercedes sedan he welcomed us, put us at ease, told us that he was at our service and offered us cold water on a hot day in the car and proceeded to drive us to our hotel he spoke very good English and was very polished in his demeanor and presentation so far I was very impressed and all my anxiety about Landing and having to navigate transportation and orientation was gone. Check in thanks to (Kyriakos)was a breeze . He answered all our questions and even helped to program my wife’s cell phone that was not activated yet in Greece . We confirm pick up for the next day in the morning ! The following morning, Kyriakos was there exactly on time. Notified us when he arrived and was waiting for us with the tour guide HP had arranged. We proceed to our 6 hour tour day with our tour guide Ioanna our tour guide was a knowledgeable and very accommodating lady that pointed out all that was to be seen and its history and significance . HP had made every possible arrangement in advance had all our entrance tickets purchased and fast tracked. We did not wait in any lines for any museums or for the tour of the Acropolis. No request was too small or insignificant for these people to respond to even to knowing how we liked our coffee and having it ready for us in the car upon our arrival. Following day we were once again picked up on time with our now favorite cold coffee ! lol and efficiently driven to the port to catch our ship . Kyriakos our drive was amazing I highly recommend you ask for him and tell him Spiros from Canada recommended him! lol HP truly made us feel like VIP! I even spoke to my travel agent that specializes in these trips to let her know that this company should be put as top priority for our clients going forward as I was very impressed! I must say that HP tours and there wonderful staff elevated our first trip back to Greece from average to exceptional ! We will not be visiting Greece in the future without First always booking HP tour for all our transportation and tour needs! This was an excellent tour which we thoroughly enjoyed. We started early to avoid the crowds and saw all the sights without having to fight our way through thousands of visitors. Our guide was so knowledgeable and added so much to the experience with his anecdotes and personal insights.
