Walk on the land in which thousands of years ago some of the largest and most important parts of the global philosophy, politics, and science were born and flourished. Navigate ancient monuments of priceless cultural and historical value and experience in person the greatness and glamour of Greek ancient times. Starting off with the Acropolis, which in Greek translates to the edge of the city, the geographically and spiritually highest point according to ancient Greeks.
The Propylaea was the monumental gateway to the Acropolis of Athens and was one of several public works commissioned by the Athenian leader Pericles in order to rebuild the Acropolis a generation after the conclusion of the Persian Wars.
An architectural jewel that hosts the best of what the human spirit and genius has ever conceived, an open embrace that awaits its famed sister marbles to welcome them home again.
The Erechtheion is an ancient Greek temple on the north side of the Acropolis of Athens in Greece which was dedicated to both Athena and Poseidon.
The Temple of Athena Nike is a temple on the Acropolis of Athens, dedicated to the goddesses Athena and Nike. Built around 420 BC, the temple is the earliest fully Ionic temple on the Acropolis. It has a prominent position on a steep bastion at the southwest corner of the Acropolis to the right of the entrance, the Propylaea. In contrast to the Acropolis proper, a walled sanctuary entered through the Propylaea, the Victory Sanctuary was open, entered from the Propylaea's southwest wing and from a narrow stair on the north. The sheer walls of its bastion were protected on the north, west, and south by the Nike Parapet, named for its frieze of Nikai celebrating victory and sacrificing to their patroness, Athena and Nike.
The Theatre of Dionysus is an ancient Greek theatre in Athens. It is built on the south slope of the Acropolis hill, originally part of the sanctuary of Dionysus Eleuthereus. The first orchestra terrace was constructed on the site around the mid- to late-sixth century BC, where it hosted the City Dionysia. The theatre reached its fullest extent in the fourth century BC under the epistates of Lycurgus when it would have had a capacity of up to 17,000, and was in continuous use down to the Roman period. The theatre then fell into decay in the Byzantine era and was not identified, excavated, and restored to its current condition until the nineteenth century.
The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is a stone Roman theater structure located on the southwest slope of the Acropolis of Athens. The building was completed in 161 AD and then renovated in 1950.
The Arch of Hadrian, most commonly known in Greek as Hadrian's Gate, is a monumental gateway resembling a Roman triumphal arch. It spanned an ancient road from the center of Athens, Greece, to the complex of structures on the eastern side of the city that included the Temple of Olympian Zeus.
Between the Acropolis and the Ilisos River are the remains of the Olympian Zeus Temple (now known as the Pillars of Olympian Zeus), one of Athens’ most important and oldest shrines. The space even today gives the visitor a sense of grandeur.
Continuing with the stunning Calimarmaro or as it is called today, the Panathenaic Stadium, the house of the first modern Olympic games, made of Pentelic marble in which the Olympic ideals are still reflected today.
After leaving the beautiful Calimarmaro behind us, we will drive up to Lycabettus hill where you will enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the city and admire the combination of ancient and modern Athens from above.
Syntagma Square (Constitution Square) is the central square of Athens. The square is named after the Constitution that Otto, the first King of Greece, was obliged to grant after a popular and military uprising on 3 September 1843.[2] It is located in front of the 19th century Old Royal Palace, housing the Greek Parliament since 1934. Syntagma Square is the most important square of modern Athens from both a historical and social point of view, at the heart of commercial activity and Greek politics. The name Syntagma alone also refers to the neighbourhood surrounding the square.
View of the national guards and the monument of the unknown soldier. Quick stop for a photo.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a war memorial located in Syntagma Square in Athens, in front of the Old Royal Palace. It is a cenotaph dedicated to the Greek soldiers killed during war. It was sculpted between 1930 and 1932 by sculptor Fokion Rok. The tomb is guarded by the Evzones of the Presidential Guard.
The Academy of Athens is Greece's national academy and the highest research establishment in the country. It was established in 1926 and operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Education. The Academy's main building is one of the major landmarks of Athens.
The National Library of Greece is situated near the center of the city of Athens. It was designed by the Danish architect Theophil Freiherr von Hansen, as part of his famous Trilogy of neo-classical buildings including the Academy of Athens and the original building of the Athens University. It was founded by Ioannis Kapodistrias.
The University of Athens has been in continuous operation since its establishment in 1837 and is the oldest higher education institution of the modern Greek state and the first contemporary university in both the Balkan Peninsula and the Eastern Mediterranean. Today it is one of the largest universities by enrollment in Europe, with over 69,000 registered students. The University of Athens was founded on 3 May 1837 by King Otto of Greece and was named in his honour Othonian University. It was the first university in the liberated Greek state and in the surrounding area of Southeast Europe as well. It was also the second academic institution after the Ionian Academy. This fledgling university consisted of four faculties; Theology, Law, Medicine and Arts (which included applied sciences and mathematics). During its first year of operation, the institution was staffed by 33 professors, while courses were attended by 52 students and 75 non-matriculated "auditors".
The old historical neighborhood of Athens, clustered around the northern and eastern slopes of the Acropolis, and incorporating labyrinthine streets and neoclassical architecture. Plaka is built on top of the residential areas of the ancient town of Athens. It is known as the "Neighborhood of the Gods" due to its proximity to the Acropolis and its many archaeological sites.
The Old Parliament House at Stadiou Street in Athens housed the Greek Parliament between 1875 and 1935. It now houses the country's National Historical Museum.

What an absolute perfect trip. Thanasis was our guide and he was just so knowledgeable and such a nice guy. Nothing was too much trouble and Thanasis actually took the time to explain things and it was just such a magical few hours. Thank you my friend, thoroughly recommend this experience to anyone! 👍🤗🥰
Perfect way to see Athens highlights. Kindly accommodated last minute time change. Professional, prompt, very knowledgeable and tailored tour to meet my requests including my pre-purchased timed ticket at the Acropolis. Immaculate car, pickier up and dropped off at my hotel which was a bonus. Would hire again.
We had an excellent half day tour around Athens with Nick, our driver. He arrived early to the port to pick up our group of 2 couples, had great communication with us before and during the tour - we all really appreciated how knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating he was to what we wanted to see in a very short period of time. (He picked us up from the port in Piraeus, we had a few hours to see the highlights of Athens, then he drove us to the airport) We accomplished a lot in a few hours as he knows Athens so well and how long we can spend at each spot. It also helped that we did this on a Saturday as traffic wasn’t as heavy as usual. We were able to see the Acropolis/parthenon from a great viewing point (we didn’t have time to walk up there today) we saw the stadium, changing of the guards, the Athenian Trilogy, and the Plaka neighborhood. He pointed out many interesting places and facts along the way too. Many thanks to Nick for making it a great half day in Athens for us and to Natasa for organising everything so well with great communication along the way. Much appreciated!
My husband and I had one full day in Athens - we are so thankful to have spent it with Thanasis Gionis! Thanasis was our private tour guide showing us the best of the city. He was kind, patient, and fun - so knowledgeable about his beloved home. His love of Athens glowed the entire time. And, what an incredible driver! Athens roads are crowded and tight but Thanasis was masterful. He kept us on schedule and was right there to get us after touring the Ancient Agora and Acropolis. Thank you Thanasis!
This was a great way to see the acropolis and some of Athens in a strict timeline I had booked with another operator months ago and yet they cancelled exactly 35 hours before Thanks to get your guide and My Athens Transfers Everything went smoothly from the easy pick up at Port Our driver was professional and knowledgeable and most importantly drove and manoeuvred the crazy traffic
Micheal was an amazing guide and we had a great experience. We saw all the things we wanted to and compacted in a short period of time. Pick up at cruise port was super easy as was our drop off. Book this tour with Micheal as your guide and you will not be disappointed.
Costa made this drive around Athens super special. He was very informative, kind, and accommodating. We saw everything we wanted, times per spot was perfect. This was a wonderful experience.
We enjoyed our tour of Athens. George was the perfect guide to our half day tour. We went around Athens, the usual sights including Acropolis, Acropolis, the Olympic stadium and Monastiraki. George provided us with historical insights and obtained us with the tickets to see the Parthenon and the Museum. I recommend George from MyAthensTransfers. Thank you, George!
Costa was absolutely wonderful! So accommodating, knowledgeable, prepared, and kind! Best tour driver I've ever had. We loved it!! Having him buy the entry tickets was the best decision. No waiting in lines!
Our guide, Dimitri Tabone, was courteous, knowledgeable, and a very good driver! Easy to work with and glad my husband and I had the good fortune to be with Dimitri.
This was a great way to get around the city. Our tour guide John was knowledgeable and considerate of our physical limitations. The day of our tour happened to be a protest day for the city but John navigated it so well to ensure we still got to see everything.
Our experience was perfect. Great communication prior to the day of the tour. Our guide, Dimitris Tabone, met us right outside the port terminal. His van was very clean and comfortable. Dimitris was friendly, and quite knowledgeable. He explained exactly where we were going and what to do. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and highly recommend it.

Booking the tour with Natasa and her team from the Customer Service was a very pleasant experience. She happily and patiently dealt with our requests for a change in the itinerary for the private half day tour and was very helpful in providing us with suggestions on places to eat in Monastiraki. Our driver & guide, Nick, also provided us with a great customer service, was friendly and was appreciated by the whole extended family. He gave us valuable information on the places we visited throughout the tour and patiently waited for us in each stop. The only disappointment we had was not visiting the Lycabettus hill which was included in the itinerary and we're expecting to see. It's possible that lack of time was the reason for missing this site. Nick also mentioned about the parade on the Sunday we're doing the tour and took us to the Royal Palace which we're not expecting as it's not on the itinerary but we appreciated. Overall, it was a great experience dealing with myAthensTransfers. Price for a private half day tour (5 hour) was reasonable.
Great value when you are looking to get to all the top places in a 5-6 hour time. All of these are walkable distance, but with 30 min west or 45 min north in one direction, it would add up. Book your tickets to Acropolis and Museum weeks in advance, to have options to choose your time slots. Alex was a great driver, very professional, polite, on time and knowledgeable on history (I very much appreciated additional info on the road). What is not included is a guide service, so grab an app or ear piece to listen to a virtual guide when you visit places. Even with this private tour, you will be at 10-12k steps :)
My experience with My Athens Transfers was fantastic. I reached out via email to several companies explaining what I was looking for and for a quote. They gave the best price for everything they offered on the half day, truthfully. Communication via email beforehand was seamless. Our driver was more than on time with clear meeting instructions. The car was just for my husband and myself and was clean and well kept. John, our driver, was very friendly and provided a lot of information as we were driving and visiting the highlights. Unfortunately for us the weather in Athens that day was terrible and rainy but John knew the shortcuts and where to take us and we made the most of our half day there before we were taken to our cruise port. He even had rain ponchos and umbrellas for us to use for the day - it’s the little things! Thank you very much My Athens Transfers!
The guide and tour were great. Only recommendation is not to book this the day of arrival as it's tiring.
It was a fantastic day, Alex (our driver) is very knowledgeable and very nice, the whole experience was great!
It was a great experience! Michael was an awesome guide and we did a lot in a short time! Would highly recommend!
We had an amazing time! John was our guide and he was so nice, bubbly, fun, and knowledgeable!! The day was completely customizable and it was just all-around perfect!
We really enjoyed our half day tour experience. Our driver was knowledgeable and friendly. We would not have been able to see all that we did on our own. Would highly recommend!
Great, friendly, accommodating host/guide. Everything was perfect. He shared great information and even his umbrella. Answered any and all questions!! Highly recommend!!
Stephon did an awesome job taking us to so many places that we wouldn’t have seen without him. Very patient, giving us choices to customize our day. Thanks again for a great day!!
The Best of Athens, Half Day Private tour, is a great introduction to the city for those with limited time. From booking the tour to the morning of our pick up, communications with the company was excellent. It was so nice to have them take care of our Acropolis tickets a head of time. Michael, our driver, was very prompt, courteous and very knowledgeable about the sites we visited. Our group of 4 highly recommend My Athens Transfer and especially our driver, Michael.
We loved our experience. Our driver was knowledgeable and friendly. We would not have been able to see all that we did on our own. Would highly recommend!
John picked us up at our hotel, confirming his arrival in advance. The whole trip he was upbeat & cared to make sure we were comfortable and pleased. He got our tickets for us so we didn’t have to make arrangements in advance to see the Acropolis, which I understand you need to get in advance otherwise. We really enjoyed our day! Thanks John!
Fantastic tour from Konstantinos - superb pickup from the cruise ship terminal, and then he did a great job of setting the scene for us from a historical perspective. Then he dropped us, and collected us, at all the major sites exactly where and when we needed to be there. Fantastic to have someone with such great language skills and knowledge of the city and history. And we got back to the ship with plenty of time to get boarded again.
Spyros was the ultimate tour guide for Greek history and its connection to present day. We traveled around the city in style and visited all of the must-sees in the city. Everything we saw made us want to come back and visit at a later date.
We had such an amazing experience exploring Athens with Spyros! Being from Athens himself, he had so much knowledge about the city and its history and shared it in a way that made everything so interesting and memorable. From the moment we met him, we felt completely safe and taken care of. It was extremely hot during our visit, and he always made sure we had cold waters waiting for us in the car, which was such a thoughtful touch. What stood out the most was how passionate and genuine Spyros is. You can truly tell that he loves Athens and genuinely enjoys sharing his city with others. He made our time in Athens so special and was an absolute pleasure to spend the day with. We cannot recommend Spyros enough! If you are traveling to Athens and looking for a knowledgeable, kind, and dependable guide and driver, definitely book with him. You will be in great hands!
It was a great private experience. My husband and I were picked up at our hotel by Dimitris. He was knowledgeable, flexible and very accommodating. Definitely worth it.
We had a wonderful private half-day tour of Athens, exploring this beautiful and historic city. Some of the highlights of our tour included visiting the Acropolis, seeing the Panathenaic (Olympic) Stadium, witnessing the impressive Changing of the Guards, and travelling up Mount Lycabettus to take in the amazing panoramic views of Athens. Our host and driver, Dimitris Tabone, was absolutely fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable about Athens and its history, friendly, professional, and very flexible in accommodating our preferences. His English was excellent, and he made the entire experience enjoyable, relaxed, and informative. We highly recommend this private tour with Dimitris to anyone visiting Athens. It was a wonderful way to see the city’s highlights in a short amount of time, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide and driver. Thank you, Dimitris, for helping make our visit to Athens so memorable!
Wonderful way to get from Cruise port to Athens. Stephanos was a good driver and very knowledgable showing us many of our selected sites. Highly recommend.
The whole experience was good Our driver was very informative and personable with excellent English He changed the trip to suit our needs and was on time and contacted us before his arrival Thanks to Thanasis we had a very enjoyable and informative experience
I had a great time. Stephanos was friendly and informative. I would strongly recommend
Our experience with Alex was superb! He was extremely knowledgeable on Greece the history, the mythology, and he just had a good personal character and engaged with his customers. I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to know more about the history of Greece. Certainly not rehearsed but true to heart and love.
Our driver, Chris was fabulous!! He met all our needs. Very responsive to our wish list. I highly recommend Chris to be your private driver.
Costas was an excellent guide. We saw all the major sites and were given additional information on other areas of Athens to visit. All was delivered on time and professionally
Our Driver Thanasis G was incredible and awesome ! I would recommend him to anyone who wanted to see Athens .
I loved our private tour with Michael. Meet up was always easy, the history shared was very informative and i loved that we were able to pick and choose where we went.
Wow! This was just perfect! Started on time with our amazing driver/tour guide Notis picking us up from the cruise port. We spent the next 5+ hours on a great tour of Athens. We have been traveling the last 2 weeks and been in many tours and Notis was by far the best guide we experienced. Not only was he incredibly friendly, but the amount of information he provided was remarkable. He also really made the whole thing personal, answering our questions, and having no problem stopping for a snack and coffee when we asked. The tour was great, but Notis really was fantastic. Highly reccomend and ask for Notis!!!
Spyros, our tour guide and driver, was an absolute gem. We embarked on a half-day tour from the cruise port, exploring the vibrant city of Athens. His extensive knowledge of the city made the tour an effortless and enjoyable experience. One of the great perks of booking with this company is that they pre-purchase tickets to renowned tourist attractions like the Acropolis. This convenience allowed us to simply pay them back during the tour, making the process seamless. To enhance our experience, Spyros even took us to the airport hotel for an additional fee. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a comprehensive tour and transfer service in Athens.
We had an amazing day exploring Athens on a private tour with Spyros! 🇬🇷 He picked us up right at the cruise port and dropped us off at our hotel afterward, which made everything so convenient and stress-free. Spyros was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and made our day so enjoyable. We loved seeing all the beautiful sights and learning more about Athens and its history. We highly recommend booking a private tour with Spyros—you won’t be disappointed! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
All in all, I give it an 11 out of 10. Booking was super easy, our guide George was fantastic, the vehicle was clean and he had a nice cold water for us, and he had all of the great facts about Athens. We were able to customize the tour and he made sure our experience was top-notch. Highly recommend.
We really enjoyed our time. Alex was very knowledgeable. Picked us up and dropped off at the entrance of every spot. Highly recommend!
Alex was tremendous!!! We have done numerous tours in other locations and in Athens using busses and tour groups, but this was by farthest the best tour we have ever had. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Greece and Athens and pointed out many historical sites that we would have missed if we had taken a bus tour. He never made us feel like we were bejng rushed and we were able to change plans on the fly. My wife is mobility impaired and Alex was very helpful when we needed to do something else when we weren't able to see a particular site due to bad terrain. I would highly recommend this tour and Alex for anyone who wants a great private tour of Athens.
We needed a transfer from the Athens airport to the cruise port and requested a private tour on the way since we had about 4 hours or so until check-in. The driver met us outside of baggage claim with our name displayed, escorted us to his comfortable Mercedes minivan, he had purchased in advance the timed tickets to those sites we wanted to visit such as the Acropolis, had plenty of cold water, and delivered us to the port one minute before our assigned check-in. Our driver/guide, Panos, was very friendly and professional, offered all the information on what we were experiencing, and was communicative. Our high expectations were exceeded enabling us to really visit and enjoy Athens on what was otherwise just a transfer day. Highly recommended.
Giannis was fantastic! We had the best day with him. He is very knowledgeable, easy to talk to and made the day seeing Athens the best it could have possibly been. If you can avoid a big tour group, this is the way to see the city!
Thoroughly enjoyed our tour today with Spyros his enthusiasm and knowledge of the city was first class .. he told us about history places and myths we have heard a small portion of before . We travelled in a comfortable and cool and relaxing car ..with freezing cold water available
The service is excellent gentleman picked us up right on time took us to our first event at 8 AM. I would suggest if you’re going to be going to the Acropolismuseum that you have this as last part of your event otherwise you’ll consume lots of time we spent over four hours in the museum itself. It was amazing overall we were able to see visit and walk things in Athens and we got firsthand the changing the cards we were right right on time and the guards passed right in front of us. The whole trip was excellent thank you. Just a note, we spent one hour in the museum and the museum was kind enough to let us come back after our tour so we could finish going through the whole museum
