Wonderful trip, local expert tour team: polite, humorous and engaged in the travellers' experience. Very organized, communication was good on delays. Restaurant and hotel choices were excellent.

Well, worth the time and money. It felt at first like I didn’t know enough details about what the schedule was really like. . Trust the process. Visit Meteor is the company in charge. They were highly organized and very efficient. The timing was perfect. Of course the sites were literally over the top, but so the guides! Very knowledgeable and very interesting. Kudos! We chose a three star hotel, and it was perfect . Visit Meteora assigned us to Hotel Kailua. The room was pleasant and the breakfast was very, very good. As far as the monastery visits, yes there are lots and lots of stairs. At times the ground is a bit uneven and stair rails occasionally lacking, but it is safe and very fun.
The guides were very knowledgeable and made the tour fun! The sunset view was amazing but did have an incredibly large amount of people on the same rock at the same time. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do the morning hike because of heavy rain but did enjoy going on the monastery tour and chatting with the guide!
The 2 days trip to Meteora was really enjoyable. The sunset tour and the morning minibus tour were above our expectations. The area is amazing- - nothing we could have imagined beforehand! We visited in total 4 monasteries, one on the sunset tour and 3 in the morning minibus tour. The guides were very informative and we learned a lot from them about the area and the history of the place and the monasteries. Highly recommend at least 2, but if possible more days in Meteora. We booked our own hotel in Kastraki and we were dropped off and picked up from there for the tours. Highly recommend!
Perfect Organisation, everything on time,Price ok.
This was a well organised tour with very professional and informative guides. The initial onboarding process was a bit chaotic as there was limited parking for the buses at Larissa station with multiple coaches from the same company arriving, so I had to walk back across a busy street to find the right bus. I enjoyed the lunch stop on the way there and the tour itself. I did the hiking tour on the second day and had a great time. It was more relaxing than the coach tour the evening before. I stayed in the 3 Star hotel Kaikis which was fine and located on the Main Street so could walk around while waiting for the return bus the next day. Both guides were named ‘Evan’ and both were great. Would recommend.
Both guides of the two tours were excellent in their knowledge and charismatic in their delivery of information. Well done to both. The hotel was great, clean, centrally located and spacious. The monasteries were quite an experience.
The tour was very well organized. The guides are very knowledgeable and helpful. The tour covered almost everything in Meteora. The hotel stay was excellent, with a great breakfast. I highly recommend this tour.
This is a must do activity from Athens and definitely better to do the two days. Exceptional value for money!
I presume they would know about the number of stairs and the dress code for the monasteries. One of the hotel choice is within walking distance of the town. Very nice cozy and quiet stay there.
Unforgettable experiences. Amazing trip highly recommended. Accommodation was very comfortable and relax. I would not skip this trip if you are visiting Athens. The only minor thing is the logistics (transportation) is a bit unorganized. Small bus and then big buses. In my opinion much tjme is wasted moving people around. Other than that is was wonderful trip
This two day trip was amazing. I did Athens to Meteora and back to Athens over two days. The crew was absolutely friendly, have thought of every requirement and very well cordinated. I did not have any challenge throughout the trip. The only problem i noticed was there was additional trips planned by some people which i dint find in my option. Hence i couldn't book for the additional trip and had already made my booking in Athens. Would have loved to continue.
Amazing views Kalambaka and Kastriaki. The monastry are suspended in a cliff. Our tour guide Vasily and Apostales are very good and gave us a very historical and informative about the monastery and topography or geography of Meteora. Definitely a recommended place to go overnight or even spend 2 days there,
Great guides the whole time! It was a wonderful experience.
This was probably the best package for a short 2 day trip to Meteora. Definitely more relaxed pace compared to the 1 day trip as you avoid the day trip crowds for the monasteries as you visit the monasteries early morning and you also get 3-4 hours of free time in town to walk around to explore Kalampaka. The highlight of our trip was actually the 4 hour ATV which was just amazing. Our guides George and Vasiliki ensured the safety and smooth rides for the group. Definitely the highlight of our trip and would highly recommend this activity. Our hotel in Kastraki had amazing views of some of the huge monoliths and breakfast was nice. Many nice local restaurants serving good local food too! The bus ride is 4.5 hours though from Athens to Meteora with 1 stop for brunch on the way there and dinner on the way back to Athens.
Metora is such a beautiful place and because of the guides you get so much more out of it. Telling a lot of interesting information and showing all the good sites and stopping at all the good viewpoints. Organization was mostly excellent as well. When the bus from Athens arrived at Kalambaka (with a stop at a restaurant for a break which had beautiful water views) you hop on a smaller bus which brings you to your hotel as I has picked the combination with a hotel. At the hotel the staff waited for me to guide me to my room. The hotel was very nice and the combinated price was even better then booking the hotel separately. Also the hotel was at the base of the Meteora so the views were stunning. After a nice lunch I was picked up again for the sunset trip which was very beautiful. An the next morning again for another great trip. After that I was dropped at the center of Kalambaka which was good. Only downside of the trip is that the bus back to Athens only leaves about four hours later. And there is not that much to do at Kalambaka besides lunch. But overall a great trip by a great organization.
Visit Meteora were excellent. Great communication, nice transfers, lovely knowledgeable guides like Apostolis and Dimitris. The tour is well thought out. I can thoroughly recommend this trip. It’s magical. We did the two day but booked the hotel privately and it all worked super smoothly. Thank you Visit Meteora.
Magical sunset. 2 days is much better than 1 as you get to experience both the sunset and the hike or tour on the next day.
Fantastic tour to the monasteries! Chris was an exceptional guide! He was full of information and was so considerate of people on the tour. He always anticipated needs and was great at getting us to viewpoints to take photos. We thoroughly enjoyed this trip!
That Chris was magnificent The site is beautiful. The driver was good And Chris made the tour .highly recommended
Overall great experience. The two day tour is worth it if you have the time. Fun and knowledgeable guides and the tour logistics from Athens to Meteora were top notch, very organized and easy. The whole family were comfortable. Seaside resto stop both ways is good and food is tasty. Would recommend this company for any tour.
This was such a special experience while traveling in Greece! Highly reccomend breaking up Meteora into 2 days because there’s a LOT of places to visit which have long staircases and walking up hill! The guides were filled with insight & information about the wonders of this phenomenal landscape as well as the long history of the ministries! The local town is adorable & has wonderful shops as well as delicious places to eat! It was a perfect 2 day trip with breathtaking views!
The 2 day tour was a relaxing way to see Meteora and soak in the atmosphere of Kalabaka. The sunset tour was our favourite. Our guides Dimitros and Chris were very helpful and knowledgeable.
This trip was an absolute highlight of my 3 weeks in Greece. I was debating for a long time whether it was worth taking 2 days out of my trip to go to Meteora and I 100% made the right decision. Meteora is a must-see, and one day (with the travel time) would not have been enough to do it justice. The bus there and back was comfortable and the restaurant stop was fantastic - beautiful views and good food and drinks. I opted for the cheaper hotel option and was pleasantly surprised - it was a great. It was called Hotel Kaikis and it was a great stay - friendly staff, a nice room and a great breakfast. The sunset tour was wonderful, and so much more involved than I expected, with lots of stops along the way, both for views and history/culture. Vassilis was our guide and he was so much fun, and played instagram bf for us all, taking incredible photos. I was unsure whether to do the bus tour or hike the next morning, as I am incredibly unfit and hate walking uphill. But Vassilis ended up talking me into it and I am so grateful to him. The hike was with Chris and he was phenomenal. There was only one other person doing the hike so it felt like a private experience. It was actually really manageable, even for someone of my fitness level and it was one of the best things I did on my whole trip. We saw so many incredible things, and Chris was so knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The whole morning was a dream. I asked if there were any caves we can visit and Chris did a detour to one just for me, which was incredible. I enjoyed the free time on both days to enjoy the town of Kalabaka, eat and some of the lovely restaurants and explore the museums. Overall the tour was well organised, great value for money and just an incredible experience. Meteora is unlike any other place I've been and it is a must-see. If you are debating whether to go, please heed my words and just do it! And do the 2 day tour, and do the hike - you will not regret it!!
Cool place to visit. Seems like everything could be done in a single outing as the second tour felt repetitive. Bus back leaves inconveniently late. We spent 4 hours in a coffee shop ruminating on how we would like to leave now before the bus home.
Chris is our tour guide. His both passion and knowledge are very impressive. We were so lucky to have Chris as our guide. We learned a lot for this tour. Thanks Chris thanks Visit Meteora!
Made the long trip to Meteora completely stress-free. The tour guides were especially great.
Outstanding guides, transportation and breathtaking sites! Enjoyed a sunset and a morning tour that visit different things, and the guides and transportation were outstanding. They visit different ones each day as each one closes on different days of the week. Chris and Vasilis were remarkably knowledgeable and loved what they did! Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Excellent experience, the hotel was great, the views were great. I highly recommend the guided hike, our guide, Christoph was friendly, informative and fun. The hike isn't too challenging but not overly simple either and the views and atmosphere are well worth it.
Very poor experience overall. The guides themselves were great but the organization around the tours was awful. Not only did the two tours (sunset + monastery visits) end up overlapping by around 70%, but the planning, instructions and transport were completely disorganized. At departure there were multiple different busses but none of them labeled with the company identified in the instructions and there were no tickets so we had to ask every bus driver if we were on the list. After the ride from Athens to Meteora, the bus was split between multiple groups to dispatch to the hotels but their list were wrong and we ended up being sent to the wrong hotel 2 kms away and we had to talk to multiple hotels for one to finally call the trip organizers and call the transport back to bring us to the right hotel. This took almost 2 hours, making us waste our first 4h of free time. After all these issues, the first tour was uneventful but they could not give us precise times or locations for the pickups even though they kept telling us we needed to be on time. There supposedly was an option to choose between a hike or the bus tour for the second day, there was absolutely no information on the hike itself (Duration, difficulty, starting point, etc.) or instructions on how to register for either activity. On the second tour, once the driver came we ended up being rushed by the staff even though we were 5 minutes early and that was even though we were not on the driver's list making us doubt if we were even with the right organizer. After the second tour, we had to go to the office just to make sure where the pickup for the return trip was since there were no instructions and just basically had to wait 5 hours in a restaurant for the return bus since everything else was closed. All that considered, the straw that broke the camel's back was that, for the return trip, 5 of us were shoved in the almost full bus of a 1-day trip group instead of returning with our group, which meant we had to wait 45 minutes for them to take a break before leaving, could not choose our seats and had to split or bargain with other guest to sit together in a bus that was way worse than the one we came in. For almost 600$ this kind of service is unacceptable...
Everything is good except after you finish your activities in the second day you have to wait 3 hours before they transfer you back to Athen
Spectacular tour with great guides. Highly recommend the hiking option; its a relatively easy 7km hike that has some of the most beautiful viewpoints I've seen. A magical region with deep history, and a charming town in the shadows of the rocks.
This 2-day tour was the highlight of our trip to Greece! The combination of the sunset tour and the hiking experience made it truly unique. Watching the sunset over the Meteora rocks was absolutely magical, while the hike the next day offered a completely different perspective—peaceful, scenic, and away from the crowds. Everything was perfectly organized, from the transfers to the small-group atmosphere. Our guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Staying overnight allowed us to experience Meteora at a relaxed pace, which I highly recommend. If you’re thinking about visiting Meteora, this 2-day tour is definitely the best way to do it!
I read on the suggestions that a two day tour was the best, but it is not! The visit to the monasteries is scheduled for the second day BUT only in the morning. So you finish at 13 hrs and the rest of the day, the agency “Visit Meteora” tell us that was “free time” in a small town just wasting your time. This is to wait for the One day tour until they finish at 17:15…. So you arrive very late in Athens around 22:30……. Some of our group, ask the manager of Visit Meteora for the chance to come back to Athens earlier but he absolutely said it was not “profitable” for the company…..
If you are someone looking for a spiritual experience and history of Christianity in Greece, Meteora is incredible, but this tour is terrible. This is primarily a bus ticket with extremely thin/little tour content. On a two day tour, the guide almost never entered the monasteries and the real content of the Orthodox faith was not presented. Orthodoxy was treated like a caricature. The guide did not seem to understand the Orthodox Christian faith and said many things which are theologically wrong. The first of our tour guides also stuck his hand behind the curtain into the sanctuary of an Orthodox monastery, which is an extremely serious matter in our faith. The bus ride itself was over packed, with very little leg room on a very long bus ride. The bus stops in the morning at 10am at cafe that doesn't serve real Greek food (the food was also basically inedible), and then we finally were dropped off at our hotel at 1:20pm. The rooms were not ready, and the hotel had no food. We had to race into town to try to find food, and then were reprimanded for trying to get food. As we explored the monasteries, we saw many other groups with guides who entered the monasteries and who were explaining the faith. For our group, nothing was really explained. We specifically also selected the two day tour because we wanted additional information. However, instead we found the many of the sites from the first day were repeated and we were stuck with a different group that hadn't already been to these same places. Meteora is an incredibly important place in the Orthodox Christian faith and the history of Greece. Please do yourself a favor and find a tour that respects the Orthodox Christian faith. This is not it.
Chris and Jim were awesome. Bother were great conversation and really knew their stuff. Both were able to connect with people from any region. 10/10 would recommend.
I found Meteora to be a wonderful place to visit (regardless of provider or trip length). I did the 2 day tour, which I find is a better option than cramming everything into one day. So definitely recommend it. Unfortunately our provider, Visit Meteora, tries to bundle together the 2-day people with the 1-day people causing a lot of friction: they constantly hurry you up when they need it, but waste your time when it's convenient to them. In particular: the first day there was no time for lunch (had to eat some bread on the van while on the actual tour). The second day was even worse: they make you wake up at 7 and hurry you into the morning activity, but once this is over they leave you waiting for 3 hours *in the middle of the day* while the 1-day people finish their tour. This is too long to just have lunch and too little to do lunch and something else. Really bad planning. To make matters worse, we had to wait at a bus stop in the middle of nowhere for quite a bit and when we finally got into the bus we had to cram into the worst seats at the back for 6 hours (no recline and 5 people in a row) because it was the only seats left. You pay more but you get worse treatment. I can't imagine how it is in summer if this is how they do it in low season.
This was an amazing experience and is definitely worth booking. Our guide, Demetrius, was knowledgeable and friendly. He helped us take great photos and was open and patient with any questions we had. We had a great time!
Excellent trip. Well worth the money. The sunset tour on the first day was very good. Friendly guide. Went to all the monasteries as described with the explanations. The hotel is a true 4 star hotel. The only problem is a bit isolated. You will need to take a taxi to the town center for everything. We pick the hiking tour as the 2nd day itinerary. Again it’s very good. Physical demanding but good exercise. Love it!
The trip was well organized with excellent accommodation and guides.
We had a great experience, highly recommend, thank you! Definitely worth seeing the amazing beauty of the region. Travelling in these modern luxury buses, with a great team of drivers and tour guides who were very knowledgeable and super helpful giving attention to all of us in the group. Would love to revisit
I did the 2 day Meteora tour from Athens at the end of December. I had an amazing time. Meteora is a very special place, the tour was very well organised. Both guides and all drivers were excellent. Thank you to Vasilis the tour leader and Nikos the driver day 1. On Day 2 , the hiking led by Dimitris the mountain guide and Thodoris the driver. Both guides had great knowledge and love for their local area. Dimitris was very funny and really added to my experience. Thank you!!
Super experience. Great guides, transport and very organised. Good value for money and nice hotel in Meteora. Would definitely use Visit Meteora travel company again for other trips.
Its always better when guided by native people that are so welcoming. One of the best experiences ever! I saw so many beautifull sights. It was really amazing.
Beautiful place, everything under scheduled, great tour guides, I liked the hotel room. Very pleasant experience.
The 2 day trip to Meteora was a wonderful tour. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, punctual, and helpful. Visiting the monestaries was an amazing experience that I would highly recommend. We upgraded to the higher level hotel and it was well worth the money. If you are interested in visiting Meteora, this is the way to do it..
This area definitely needs two days, it would have been too much in one day with such a long drive. The bus was smooth and the stops were nice. The hotel they picked was comfortable for one night. The guides both days had lots of information and insight. It was interesting to see the difference between these monasteries. Truly unique experience.
The guides and bus drivers were really good but the wait from 1pm to 5:30 pm to get transfered back to Athens is just annoying especially because most hotels dont allow a late check out. One has to hang out in the village although there is nothing to do. That made the experience - unfortunately- less good. I dont know why they do not find a different solution even though all customers dont seem to like it.
Meteora is fantastic! An unreal landscape and a real lesson in Greek history. The monasteries were amazing.
Our both guides were great. Be ready to walk over 15K steps on first day and climb 28 floors on second day tour. Give yourself extra time In beginning of the trip, there was a confusing situation to find a right bus from the many parked buses, you have to check with each driver if you’re on their list. Also after being dropped off at the end of second day tour you have over 4 hours to kill until being picked up by the bus to return to Athens. I wish there was an option for early afternoon return.
