We had a lovely experience! Our tour guide, Aigley, was so hospitable and knowledgeable. She made sure we got all the important information, and that we had a good time. Thank you for the wonderful tour!

Itinerary
Meet your guide at our office at Mitseon 2, Athens, 11742, at least 15 minutes before the starting time of the tour and start the tour with a visit to the Acropolis hill. On your way up, you will visit the Dionysus Theater, where all the famous ancient dramas and tragedies were first performed. You will walk around the stunning Odeon of Herodes Atticus, and the sanctuary of the healing god Asclepius. On the top of the hill you will visit the Propylea, the Temple of Nike, the Erechtheion Temple, and of course the Parthenon; the symbol of democracy and western civilization. Dating back to 5th century B.C, these monuments are testimonials of the glorious ancient Athens and the Golden Age of Pericles. Take a short break before you continue to the Acropolis Museum, during which you can use the bathroom.
Breeze past the line and experience the thrill of seeing the Theater of Dionysus where many famous ancient comedies and tragedies were first performed.
Continue to the Roman Herodion theater which was built in memory of the wife of Herodes Atticus.
Climb up to the gateway of the Acropolis, the Propylaea.
Take in views of the Temple of Athena Nike.
Walk to the Parthenon which was dedicated to the goddess Athena, the patroness of the city of Athens. Admire this 5th-century zenith of the Doric order architecture.
Finally, see the Erechtheion which is a unique masterpiece of architecture mainly due to its asymmetrical composition, and its supports include 6 sculpted female figures.
Right after the Acropolis tour you will have the opportunity to visit the Acropolis Museum located just a few minutes walk from the Acropolis site. On the ground floor the exhibited artifacts reveal to you facets of the Athenian daily life; you get to know the wedding customs, the children's favorite toys, the healing techniques, the religious practices. On the first floor, you will experience standing at a breathing distance from the mysterious archaic statues of the 6th century B.C that once adorned the Acropolis. Be fascinated by walking next to the Caryatids and huge pieces of the Acropolis entrance. At the last floor, next to the breathtaking view of the Acropolis, one can admire the original unique in concept and artistic excellence Parthenon frieze.

Margarita was an amazing guide. It was wonderful to learn about the culture through someone so knowledgeable and proud of her heritage.
This is a fabulous tour! The tour guide was very knowledgeable, I recommend the half day tour, there is a lot of walking; uphill, downhill, and many steps on uneven terrain. Definitely worth it!
Very nice experience. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and spoke at a good pace . She also paced all the uphill walking at a reasonable speed to allow people of varying abilities to keep up.
Margaret was a great guide. She was very knowledgeable about the Acropolis, Parthenon and the museum. We learned so much on this tour. Margaret even offered to take pictures of everyone which was greatly appreciated!
Natasha was an excellent guide, friendly, clever and a great sense of humor. We enjoyed the tour and the insights she shared with us.
Our tour guide Julia was great! I felt I was transported back in time with her storytelling. She gave us key points in history for us to appreciate what we were seeing as we move up towards the Acropolis and of course at the top with the Parthenon etc. This was beautifully tied in with the tour of the museum giving us an appreciation not only of the artefacts and how it ties in with the Acropolis but also pointing out great works and understanding them within the historical context. A beautiful experience for me. I’m ashamed to say I know very little about Greek history but Julia was able to present 6000 years of history and mythology in a succinct manner that has opened up for me, interest in learning more about this beautiful country’s past. It’s very worthwhile doing both Acropolis and museum. We had plenty of stops as we climbed, I never felt strained. I’m in my late 50’s and there were enough breaks to sit and rest as we listened on. Julia was not only very knowledgeable but also kind and thoughtful.
A fantastic walk through history. Great tour! Cece was knowledgeable and the pace was good. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Julia was a fantastic tour guide and as an archaeologist she brought a unique perspective to our tour. We were so happy we book this!
Tour guide was fabulous(Aphrodite). It is important to be carful when walking, especially on the top of the Acropolis as there are slippery stone surfaces. It was well worth it!!!
My group guid was knowledgeable and very well spoken. Definitely passionate about her ancestry and their wonderful culture. Highly recommend
Our first time in Athens and the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum was better than we could have imagined! Marina was our tour guide, she was knowledgeable and engaging. She made sure the group was safe and enjoying the experience on the climb to the top. Don't miss the museum! You walk over ancient city ruins and can look down into it, both at the entrance and once inside the museum. Amazing!
So much information! It was amazing. I believe our guide was Myra? She was so knowledgeable.
Great day of history and spectacular works of art and scenery.
One of the best tours I’ve ever done. Natasha was great, very knowledgeable and personable. She took care to insure all people were keeping pace and encouraged everyone to participate.
Our guide was fantastic- extremely knowledgeable and she paced the tour well- would highly recommend
There is a lot of walking uphill involved with this tour but it is well worth the effort. The museum portion realy helps to understand what you see at the Acropolis. Our guide was good he knew the info and shared it well.
Our guide knew a lot but I couldn't understand half of it due to the strong accent. I'd suggest asking about the guide first.
What an incredible experience! Visiting the Acropolis and Parthenon was truly amazing. The history, architecture, and breathtaking views of Athens were unforgettable. The museum was equally fascinating and brought so much of the history to life. A must-do when visiting Athens! Highly recommend!
This site is absolutely breathtaking! The history is so fascinating. I will come back if I have the chance. There is a lot of walking over uneven surfaces. There are many stairs and the stone is very slick when wet.
Covered a lot, maybe too much. Frequent breaks on the way up👍 The guide was extremely knowledgeable on Greek history. Overall good experience.
The tour guide was full of amazing facts about the entire tour and was easy to listen to. The walk up to the Parthenon can be taxing for some.
Lydia was extremely knowledgeable, kind and a fantastic tour guide always making sure your needs were met. She made our tour experience totally worth it! I would definitely recommend booking with her!
Very happy! To start after booking good directions were given and were perfect. Upon arrival there was a nice place to sit and wait in thier office which was crisp and clean, the listening devices they gave us worked and were easy to use and newer tech. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable, informative and kept and reasonable pace. We saw the acropolis learned about the history and also took the museum tour which was all very interesting with great opportunity for photos. He also gave us multiple chances for bathroom breaks and there was a water vending machine near the start, with cheap water (mandated by Greek law water bottles are .5 euro)
A fantastic experience of history with a very knowledgeable guide. Be ready for A LOT of walking & stairs but everything along the way is well & truly worth it. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Athens.
Alexia was a great guide, very knowledgeable! Highly recommend!!! Ask for a tour with her--can't go wrong.
Excellent tour, and a great tour guide. Alexia was very informative, knowledgeable and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
Julia, our tour guide, was excellent, very knowledgeable and super friendly. Small group, well organized. Thank you!!
Check in for the tour was easy. Tour started on time. Tour Guide Kostas was amazing, knowledgeable and very mindful of the pace that guests needed to thoroughly enjoy the sites.
Memorable visit. Angel our guide shared alot of historical facts and had a book of pictures to share on the tour which made it very interesting to see how the structures were when fully in use. Highly recommend the tour. Wear comfortable shoes. Alot of walking but at a good pace, we stopped every 5 minutes or so to hear about the area. The museum was interesting, glad we had an experienced guide to explain the history as we went around the floors. The audio guide is helpful to hear clearly even when guide isn't close by and at times there were crowds around the exhibits.
Very informative. If you want to know all of the history, this is the tour to take - 4 hours. If you want something less, go with the 2 hour tour. Informative but not as long.
This is a "can't miss" experience on any trip to Athens if you haven't done it before. The museum is fabulous. The tour of the Acropolis is almost surreal. Our tour guide, Dr. Michael G. was absolutely fantastic. Not only did he have an incredible command of the information and history, he was a very personable guy and provided us with a lot of enjoyable moments.
The tour was amazing. Julia was so knowledgeable about the area and complete history of the Acropolis and the Parthenon, from ancient history. Thank you so much Julia 🙂❤️
Costas was a remarkable guide with so much information to share. The climb to the Acropolis is steep and you have to watch your feet - Costas would stop occasionally to tell us all about what we were looking at and give us some historical background., while allowing us to catch our breath. His commentary in the Acropolis Museum taught us even more about the history of Greece.
I received a warning the day before my much anticipated tour that it was not suitable for those with mobility issues. I fully expected to sit out the tour and join the group at the Museum at the end. The guide made it so interesting I kept persisting and with his help and that of a number of group members reaching out their hands and arms I had a great trip. Many thanks to all for the compassion involved.
Natasha was a very informative guide. Just the right amount of information and fun stories. It was definitely worth including the Acropolis Museum with the tour.
Wonderful experience. Guide, Angel K., was extremely knowledgeable, interesting and delivered in English, which was easily understood.
This is an absolute must! If we hadn’t taken this tour we would have missed most of the information. The guide was superb, his knowledge really brought the whole tour to life, he was a brilliant narrator of a whole host of stories.
The tour was great! What made it so fantastic was our guide Costas. He was knowledgeable and very interesting. We really enjoyed our tour. I highly recommend it but hope for Costas as your guide.
When we booked this trip it stated a museum guided tour included. On arrival we were told by tour operator it was not included. Very disappointed and not prepared to pay a further 30 euros per person. Viator needs to produce absolute clarity to customers. The guide was superb and the information and history superb. Just very upset the communication was so poor between Viator and Athenian yours
Make sure that you can walk up steep inclines and be able to be on your feet for a least 4 hours. The views and the history of Athens are all wrapped up in this tour. We had an excellent tour guide and he definitely was very knowledgeable in Greeces history.
Alexia was phenomenal. She was so knowledgeable and very passionate about the history. Thoroughly enjoyed our tour with her!
Very worthwhile to have a guide interpret all there is to see. Petros was very knowledgeable, kind, and funny. Strongly recommend this tour.
Kosta was a great Guide. Very experienced and knowledgeable and skilled at sharing that knowledge. I had a done a solo tour 15 Years ago and this tour was so much better. And visiting the Museum with Kosta afterwards truly enhanced the experience. Everything With the tour company was flawless administratively. I highly recommend the tour.
Michael G from Athenian Tours was a fantastic guide. So knowledgeable (he did have a PhD in Ancient History) and made the whole thing come to life. Funny as well. Could not recommend more.
We had a fantastic tour with Nick, filled with so much information about all the spots we visited. It was well paced and with regular informative stops on the climb up the Acropolis so didn't feel out of breath or achy legs! The tour of the museum is also recommended to see much of the original ornamental details.
Petros was an amazing guide - really passionate and knowledgable about the Acropolis and Greek history and seemed to want to know the group and tailor his tour somewhat around their needs. The museum was well worth seeing and I would have not have understood it as well without a guide. The tour company was also very efficient and meeting place was easy to find.
Absolutely brilliant. Guide Nicholas was excellent and very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend
This tour was excellent. Our guide was so knowledgeable, thoughtful & obviously loved what she does. I was glad I had taken my walking pole for the ascent to the acropolis, as it was uneven & steep at times.
Visiting the Acropolis was an awesome experience, something I've always wanted to do. And in October 2026, the last of the scaffolding outside the Parthenon has been removed, giving a clear view of the entire Parthenon for the first time in 200 years. Be prepared for a long walk up the hill, but the guide does make frequent stops to point things out along the way so that you have a chance to catch your breath. Our guide, Anna, was really good -- she knew how to make things interesting and entertaining. She had some good anecdotes about the historical events that took place at various spots around the Acropolis. After touring the Acropolis, we went back down the hill and across the street to the Acropolis Museum, which we definitely found worthwhile. There are a number of artifacts from the Acropolis and Parthenon on display there -- kept indoors to protect them from weather and pollution. Here again, Anna was really good at describing what we were seeing along with the stories behind the objects. The Acropolis gets 20,000 visitors a day, so it was definitely crowded. But if you want to see this unique historical site, you'll have to put up with the crowds.
