Itinerary
The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historical significance
The Parthenon is an ancient Greek temple located on the Acropolis of Athens, dedicated to the goddess Athena. Built between 447 and 438 BCE during the Athenian Golden Age, it is considered a masterpiece of classical architecture. The temple is known for its harmonious proportions, Doric design, and iconic columns. It originally housed a massive statue of Athena by Phidias. Though partially damaged over the centuries, the Parthenon symbolizes ancient Greek culture and democracy.

Excellent tour and our guide spoke wonderful English, was so knowledgeable and made the tour enjoyable!
Margarita Kitsikoudi was an amazing guide! She is passionate about the history of Athens, and loves her country. She is worth her weight in gold. My husband and I learned so much. Definitely one of the best tours we have ever been on.
Strenuous walking & steps. Plenty of standing & listening. Please bring water. Not too busy for October
Elizabeth was a fantastic guide.! She spoke ad lib for 4 hours, so informative. The walking is moderate at best so know your capabilities. Lots of stairs uphill and uneven. Fantastic tour and great in the museum as well. Would recommend it highly. Slightly difficult to locate meeting place - please add the tour group name to web site.
Elizabeth was an excellent guide she was very knowledgeable and her background in archeology was a great asset. She made sure everyone in her groupwas accounted for and that we had time to take photos. She even offered to take photos for members of her group. Highly recommend this tour nice to have a small group and getting an early start before the major crowds
Lit if uphill walking on slippery surfaces but worth it! Great tour guide who was very knowledgeable. Good pace too.
This was advertised as a small group tour that included lunch. There were 20 people in the group and there was no lunch. The tour that we did get was good, the guide was knowledgeable but it was not as advertised.
The guide kept the group together. Always took care of her tour group. Tour guide was very knowledgeable about the ruins and museum. I would recommend the tour to friends.
The tour went very well. The tour guide spoke well (that you could understand). I would highly recommend this tour with a guide.
There is a lot of uneven walking but Kiki took it slow and ensued we were all comfortable. It is so beautiful to see in person
Thoroughly enjoyed this tour, would definitely recommend it, the lunch was great, everything was well organised
Fabulous early morning tour with a very knowledgeable guide called Penelope with excellent English. We did the tour with the Parthenon, Museum and Lunch. I wouldn’t recommend the lunch it wasn’t worth the extra it’s easy to find your own little piece of Athens for lunch
Great experience, so much history Sophia did an excellent job, took her time and explained the mythology, and the history!!! Highly recommend her!!!
Excellent tour guide! Anastasia knew her information and had a passion for her job. I learned a lot. On a hot day it was tough to be out in the sun for so long but everything went smoothly. Well worth the time and money.
Anastasia was charming and most knowledgeable. She took us to the most interesting locations and made certain we were all comfortable. She was wonderful.
Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly & welcomed questions from the group. The tour does, as advertised, require walking on hilly inclines at times. Proper shoes a must, flip flops not recommended. We chose the tour that included the Museum tour and a greek lunch at Acadia. Delicious! Loved the entire experience!
The tour of the Acropolis and the museum was exceptional. Tour guide top notch. The lunch was average. So skip the food and concentrate on the history!!!
Excellent tour! Strongly recommend taking this tour of the Acropolis and Parthenon. Will not disappoint.
Micheal G was very enthusiastic and with great knowledge about Athenas, the tour was wonderful, it was great to have someone who you could ask anything to and they would know how to answer it, the museum was very interesting, a key moment from the museum was how the athenians used certain rocks for their building and color, the lunch where we ate was good, we learnt a lot and further lengthened our knowledge.
The tour was average, and the guide was knowledgeable. However, she frequently went off topic, bringing up present-day political issues that were not relevant to the tour. She repeatedly discussed subjects such as the Greek healthcare system, foreign investment, government corruption, and personal incidents, including mentioning several times that someone had suffered a stroke. As a result, the tour did not focus as much on the ruins as I had hoped. The guide also asked too many personal questions ("tell me about this statue and don't ask about my relationship status!"), which made the experience feel less comfortable and less focused.
Guide was great, however no lunch provided?
Jo was really wonderful. We learned so many new things. She was truly knowledgeable. I'm not sure, but I think one of her degrees or studies was Archeology. If just based on the tour alone, I would rate the Acropolis and Museum 5 stars. Unfortunately, we the lunch option. We thought our guide would have joined us to continue discussing what we had seen. We were just dropped off at a substandard restaurant alone. The service was terribly slow and the food was mediocre. My recommendation would be don't opt for lunch. I actually did not see that the lunch was optional when I booked it, so some blame is on me.
Had a great time running through the ruins and museum. Sophia and Viktor were great guides. The Greek restaurant was really good as well
Our guide was very knowledgeable and very helpful. Get there and go as early as possible because it gets hot and crowded quickly.
Our guide was great and she did an excellent job! Everything was executed as per plan. Very well organized.
Tour guide was exceedingly knowledgeable, but the cost was exceedingly high. The tour did not book the lunch until the day of and as a result, we were put in the inside in a doorway area and was not allowed to sit outside. The lunch menu was very limited.. Restuarant had an extensive lunch menu, but we’re only giving very minimal choices and we had to pay for our own drinks with no desserts. The cost for the tickets were €60 for the Acropolis and Panthon per person which made the tour very expensive. I expected more for the lunch. I guess it was my error since we were the only two in our tour group. I took the tour with lunch.
We had a wonderful experience on this tour, led by our knowledgeable, funny, and kind guide Jason (or Iasonas). Jason not only shared great information about the history of the Parthenon for the history geek in the family (haha, that's me) but he also offered engaging insights about mythology for our mythology-obsessed 8 year old daughter. He's also very friendly and good with kids, which was wholly unexpected but a delight since our daughter ended up joining us on the tour. She was the only child on the morning's tour, but Jason made her feel included and special by asking her witty questions and bringing her into the discussion of myths and greek religion. If only all history teachers did the same, perhaps more of us would love history?! :) Jason has an impressive knowledge of the art in the Parthenon museum, including the spectacular friezes and collection of sculptures. He shared details we would never picked up on our own unless we spent the whole day glued to our guidebooks rather than relaxing and enjoying the museum and walk to to the Parthenon. For instance, he explained how the pigments were created for the paints and patterns that the sculptures once boasted, and why the kourai statues' expressions changed so dramatically between the archaic and classical era. These little details bring the ancient art to life. I highly recommend this tour curated by Athens Walking Tours. We lucked out finding it as it was the only one with space for the morning we had free but I would gladly book another tour with them on future visits to Athens or the surrounding areas. Our tour with Jason was informative, enjoyable, and helped us make use of our limited time at one of the Western World's most impressive archeological sites. Last but not least, our included lunch at the Arcadia taverna was delicious. We shared a greek salad and the moussaka was hearty and flavorful. All in all, we had a wonderful morning tour followed by a great lunch in the shadow of the Parthenon. Even my tour-skeptical husband loved every minute. 5 stars to this tour, and especially to our wonderful host Jason / Iasonas.
Tour guide was excellent. Incredible knowledge.
Our guide was so helpful and extremely well educated in the history and art we saw.
Lydia was an excellent guide. Her knowledge was shared with us in an interesting way. She was thoughtful in keeping the group together in a safe way
Great tour, knowledgeable tour guide. She knew the history of Greece, especially in the museum. The lunch was outstanding
Very informational and detailed. The guide Anna was excellent knowledgeable and with a real sense of humor. The tour was a bit difficult due to the climbing but our guide took great care and made sure we were safe. Highly recommend.
Very comprehensive and informative tour with about two hours at Acropolis and Parthenon. Well paced for a mostly older small group. Museum visit was only about an hour but covered all key exhibits fully. Lunch was very good and worth the extra cost. Overall a superb tour in the right amount of time.
Natasha was our tour guide and I think the best tour guide I have ever had. She was so knowledgeable and spoke English perfectly. We toured the Pantheon and followed with the museum. I loved this tour!!! We ended with a great meal at Arcadia. Loved this tour and especially Natasha!!
Absolutely fantastic experience. One of the best guides we have EVER had and we have had a lot. Spoke very clearly, very concerned with our good experiences and EXTREMELY knowledgeable. Cannot recommend Natasha enough.
I cannot recommend this tour enough! Our tour guide, Alexandra Kolia, was very informative and entertaining- she provided so much history of the Acropolis in such a fun way. She also made sure we had the best views of the Acropolis, Parthenon, & City of Athens (from atop the Acropolis) for both the sights and photos. Also, in the Museum, Alexandra highlighted the most important points and insightfully answered any questions about the objects/ sculptures. The lunch too was very delicious and authentic. A must do for your first time in Athens.
Tour was great for the Acropolis and good for the museum, though the museum should be longer. The lunch was mediocre. I would book this again but this time with no lunch.
What a great tour to see the highlights of the Acropolis and the museum. Our tour guide, Penelope, was fantastic relaying wonderful information about the area and what we were seeing. She took many stops on the way to the top and managed to find shady spots as well. We had the lunch option with the tour, and the food was fantastic.
Katerina was a fantastic tour guide - friendly, knowledgeable, engaging and funny! We thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Lunch afterwards was great too!
Wear good hiking/walking shoes and be prepared for lots of walking. The tour was wonderful and very informative. Our guide Helen was well spoken and helpful. We took the expanded tour and also enjoyed our Greek lunch.
The walking tour was hot and very busy, well worth it though. The tour guide for the lemon group was fantastic! :)
Very knowledgeable guide, and very atuned to the group and their needs. Many pauses along the long hike up which made the trek very achievable.
Aphroditi Gianni thru Athens Walk tours is an excellent tour guide. She shared the history of Greece, archaeology/architecture of Parthenon/Acropolis/museum & outstanding w/pics of what it looked like in the past. Brought the ruins to life:) Thank you
This tour is definitely worth the money and an excellent tour guide. Anna Maria was very personal and if you get her, you’re one of the lucky ones.
This is a great tour. Stratus, our guide, was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable, and very considerate of the group, especially the slower ones. There are huge crowds but he did well keeping us together and the crowds actually made the assent easier because it was a slower pace. The headsets were nice since we did spread out a bit. Get to the meeting point plenty early because it gets more crowded and hotter at the top, the later it gets. It was nice to go to the museum after being at the Acropolis. It pulled everything together. Although there are lots of restaurants near the museum, it was great to be taken to a local restaurant and have a typical lunch. It was delicious! No worries about where to go. We would highly recommend this tour! Enjoy!
Very easy to go through the process of making reservations. Excellent guide. Answered all questions.
Great tour! Despite extreme heat, our guide was able to find shady spots to give us a needed relief. Orestis was an exceptional guide, knowledgeable, animated, entertaining, passionate. We were so lucky to get him on this tour. We have learned so much about Greek and European history and shared a lot of clever jokes.
A very organized tour. Our guide was Sophia who was pleasant and knowledgeable. She provided enough information to inform, but not overwhelm, us. We started at the Parthenon. The tour does require walking on uneven and rocky grounds. Make sure you bring water because it gets hot at the top. Our tour also included the Museum. We went through it with Sopiha explaining many of the exhibits. Enough info for me, but you can reenter the museum after the tour to see more if you want. We opted for the included lunch and had a wonderful authentic meal at a nearby eatery. Highly recommend this tour! Please be aware that when you sign up for 9:00am tour they want you there by 7:30am. We were emailed this change at 5:00pm the night before but did not see until 9:00pm.
John the Architect is Fantastic! A fun and informative tour with a local who has deep knowledge and passion for what he does. Thank You for taking our family around to all the things for a fabulous experience from tour to museum to lunch.
