Very convenient and easy way to tour! We toured Athens after arriving from the airport the previous day. Was able to listen to the highlights and history of different places as we rode around and got off on a couple of the stops to explore in more detail. Was very easy to hop back on and continue. Only wish was that the buses to our section of routes ran a little later. Ended up taking the metro train back to the port area.

Great experience, I definitely recommend this to everyone
Be prepared if it rains, the top of the bus doesn’t have any closure and you may be forced to go up top anyway. And be sure that you purchase the correct lines if coming from the cruise port.
Great way to get acquainted with the city! We did the whole loop and then walk to some attractions. The sound was pretty good
Great way to see the area. Hop on and off as you see fit. Top of bus was covered for protection from rain.
Absolutely choose another company. Poor administration, one operator at the Acropolis was offensive and accusatory. Website is misleading. Beware: if coming from the port this company will charge you another 10 euro without notice. Windows on bus are covered with art and impossible to see out the windows! Horrible experience.
I had a 2 day pass. My first tour they decided to use the bus for cruise passengers, so had to get off and wait. The next bus was jam-packed. Sunday night at 5:00 pm bus did not even show up after 30 minutes. Monday, watched 3 tours of City of Athens And 2 Big Bus tours pass and waited 30 minutes again before a bus came. Would not recommend.
The hop on, hop off red bus is our favorite adventure bus around the world. However, my spouse and I were disappointed that the fun outside bus decor blocks the view and the sound was muffled and brief. So we followed everyone’s lead and went upstairs where the views wouldn’t be obstructed and didn’t bother with the headphones. Anyhow, they have 3 wonderful routes for you to explore: Athens, the port so you can enjoy the beach and the Vouliagmeni lake (thermal waters).
Such a convenient service, and the best way to see the most important parts of the city and hear its history. The drivers were all very nice and friendly. A must on a city holiday.
Very easy hopping off, and drivers tell you where you are on the maps they give you. The assistants at the stops tell you how long the wait for next bus was.
Easy way to get around Athens...we bought all 3 lines so we could explore the entire city. Highly recommend.
Drivers need to improve and be more helpful
Hop on/off bus was great. It’s an excellent option to get around Athens. Buses were operating every 20 minutes.
Excellent way to see the city and the beaches, particularly as it was so hot and humid. The pick up from the port was particularly well organised and did the first part of the Piraeus route, the remainder was done on the return leg to the port. The city sightseeing staff at the stops and the drivers were really informative, so there was no doubt which bus stop you were at and when the next one was due. The commentary was clear all the time. The onboard Wi-Fi was a bonus, which allowed me to send great live time photos back home. I would thoroughly recommend this tour. As we were time limited to ensure getting back to the ship we didn't hop off other than to change lines, but definitely would have done if we were staying in Athens
Pick up places poorly marked on map
They are dead serious about hanging on to your ticket. Once you have done the electronic converted to the paper that ticket is no longer valid. The cheapest they would provide a ticket for 25 euros which was more than was paid for the original ticket plus the bus was running for 2 more hours.
A great way to get around Athens and very easy from Cruise port, but note you will need tickets for both the bus from Port and Bus for city.
The Athens Line (red buses) cirkel the center and with the traffic congestion it is not always the best option, the underground could be a better and cheaper alternative. There is no time table to see how frequently the bus rides. You can however scan the QR code on the bus stop sign and see were the bus is in real time.
Very well informed nice clean and self explanatory the workers very nice and courteous places accessible and quick just depends on traffic and it was not bad
The bus gives a good overview of Athens’ highlights. The ride may take longer than expected due to the city traffic, so plan accordingly.
Bus was clean, audio worked well. We did both CitySightseeing Athens and Piraeus tours. Most waits less than 15 minutes at stops. Great way to get familiar with the location.
Be patient. Traffic can be bad. We did the entire round trip first then decided where and when we wanted to hop off and on. Every one was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful 💙💙
It was great. A good way to see the city. You get a good feel of the history of all thats happened over the centuries
Hop on hop off Red Bus is excellent as always. Most of the European cities we have covered, we have always taken Hop on hop off Red Bus. It’s top class in terms of routes, stops and timings. Same with Athens service. Just love it and highly recommended for city tour.
Was a really informative introduction to the city. Good view of key sights and great explanations. Covers areas for shopping, dining & entertainment, not just the antiquities. Check the map to see where to catch the bus and for timings. Because of traffic they are ballpark. Physical maps are left at some of the stops throughout the day. Look for the billboards on the street / kerbside for stops. There are a couple of competing companies. Make sure you are standing at the City Sightseeing stop! They are mostly quite close, but not always! The "free beer" is at stop A1 if you get there at the right time.
It nice to be able to relax and look at potential places to review for any excursions or just let them take the wheel while we enjoy the weather looking at our options where to hop off.
Listen carefully to the audio in order to capture everything ... however, the music played in between stops did take away from the experience
Very good value and great way to spend a day in Athens. We were picked up and taken back to the cruise port and all for 20 euros.
A comprehensive and easy way to navigate Athens' major sites. Timely transfers between the Athens City, Beach, and Piraeus itinerary lines so you can get a good overview of Athens.
Typical Hop On Hop Off experience. Cruise ship prices are higher and offer little more than Viator. In fact the cruise ship was probably more of a hassle given the lines and waiting that we experienced at other ports 9n the cruise ship tours.
Great option for seeing a city but wish quality of sound a bit better - very tinny and hard to listen to for long periods. Needs to be better quality. Maybe upgrade to a Bluetooth option allowing people to use their own earphones as well.
The information given about the sites was very informative. Also, the bus drivere and employees were very helpful with directions on where to stand and approximate time of the bus arrival.
Air conditioning barely works at all Could barely understand English she had an accent If u sit on bottom part you can’t see through the windows because they have a colorful logo on the window and you can barely see through the window Horrific
Exactly the same journeys regardless of the color of the service providers. Why then include local beer in the fares and then, when we're on board, sneeringly tell us that the beer will be there tomorrow! Thieves use these extremely dishonest practices. Take the blue buses or the brown buses. At least they won't rip you off!!!
Excellent staff, no idea how to get the free beer but the sites and trip is brilliant. Drivers were brilliant
I found it hard to find a bus stop on line. I had to take a taxi to the cruise docks to obtain information from a parked bus. Very disappointed in the tour information on the ear phones, and The drivers didn’t instruct guests that earphones were available, I also found some drivers were rude when seeking information about transfers to other routes.
A great way to explore Athens! The tour provides both visual and audio guides, making it easy to learn about the city as you ride. The bus stops at all the major points of interest, giving you the flexibility to hop off, explore, and catch the next bus when you’re ready. Convenient, informative, and perfect for seeing the highlights of Athens at your own pace.
Terrible. Couldn’t see out the window due to advertising decals covering the window. The place to plug in the ear phones was too low to the ground and ear plugs weren’t long enough to reach my husband sitting in the aisle seat. It was a waste of money - couldn’t see and could not listen to the advertised audio tour.
As always (we always do a hop on hop off when we arrive to get an overview) it was what we needed to get our bearings and learn about the city. Stops were a little long and the sounds was a little hard to understand as the sisters is either place overused. But overall definitely worth the money
The bus stops frequently and for extensive periods of time. The routes are short and uncomfortable when sitting in the sun at a stop without a purpose other than giving the driver a break. 1 route with 4-5 10 minute breaks .
We couldn’t find the pick up details/route very easily and the bus was over half an hour late. When we got on another one, we had to pay a further €8 each!
Educational and free to take more time at different locations. I enjoyed the sites and ease to catch other buses
We had a very good experience with the hop on hop off bus tour in Athens. We purchased the “all lines” and well worth it.
Great way to see Athens and spend time where you want. Picked us up at cruise port and took us back. Easy, staff is very friendly and helpful!
We were very excited to be able to hit all of the important sights in Athens but we were a little disappointed. The maps for the hop on hop off tour were very hard to read. Also, our cruise ship did not get in until 1pm and the last bus stopped at 5pm. So, it felt like we spent the whole day on the bus and only got a little time to explore the sights.
They cant keep their own schedule and promised a refund that i never got back and when i kept calling me they finally told me i wasnt getting my money back. Do not recommend ever. Just pay for uber instead
The trip was fantastic. We saw a lot of gorgeous locations and met some cool people. The staff was awesome and the food was delicious! 10/10 recommend to anyone.
The commentary was good but the top level of the bus was hot (no shade) and views from the lower level were obscured by advertising for the bus tour
Bus was nica and we didnt have to wait long. I would do a fidferwnt tour next time and see the parthenon
loved the bus ride. hard to hear through headsets. sights are great. wish we had more time to get off and see the olympic stadium
