Athens Off The Beaten Track Private City Walking Tour

Voula was a guide, so personable and knowledgeable! A very fun way to wander through the city, seeing different areas, ruins of the ancient city in obtuse places and hearing stories/history along the way! A perfect introduction to Athens.

We have been to Athens many times but Manos showed us a side of the city we have never seen before. This is a fantastic tour and it is very definitely off the beaten track! Manos was a brilliant guide with exceptional knowledge of the city, he brought the history of Athens to life and gave us a highly entertaining tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Manos, highly recommended.

Yanni was a great guide for our Athens tour, sharing special places within the city and the story behind them. He was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Once you've seen the acropolis, this is the next thing to do if you're got another day.

This was a great walking tour. Although it was very hot. We walked mostly in the shade. Saw some notable things I had never seen before in Athens. Our guide was knowledgeable of the areas and was fun and easy to work with.

When we selected this tour, we were excited to do something different but were also a bit nervous by what this tour might entail. All of those worries faded the moment we met our tour guide, John. He was an incredible guide through the city and we saw so much of Athens that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. We loved this experience and would probably do it again whenever we come back!

Yorgos was exceptional! Spending 2.5 hours with him felt more like time with an old friend than a tour guide showing us Athens. He customized our stops based on interest, spontaneity, and jet lag energy levels. He was so knowledgeable and conversational and gracious. He had a great sense of humor and totally fluent English. What a wonderful ambassador for this tour company and for Athens!

The walk was a great way to learn our way around the City. Our guide offered a lot of helpful information and was very knowledgeable.

Perhaps we should have asked what the itinerary was before we started. It was a mix. Some ancient sights, food markets, a bit of cool graffiti, shops, history. The guide’s English was a bit challenging to follow.

John was absolutely wonderful. He knew so much about the city and was so personable and easy to talk to. We even saw him in another place after our tour, and he stopped what he was doing to give us some tips about the area. Would 100% recommend this tour!

A native Athenian and really tailored the tour to our wants and our pace. The conversation about life in Athens added to our understanding and recommendations for bars/eateries were excellent. Excellent tour of Athens neighborhoods with Dimitri. Everyone knew Dimitri on the streets of Athens. It was a pleasure to have him lead us through the local shops and have unique experiences along the way.

OOOOMG! I can't believe I never gave Spiro a proper SHOUT OUT! Spiro is our Greek family, we never knew we had. He was ever so genuine, welcoming, informative, knowledgeable, connected etc. We were treated to off the beaten paths which were far more interesting than the beaten paths, we were immersed in true Greek culture, we remember taking a path just below the Pantheon, which consisted of a series etc. Spiro knew exactly which path to take to allow us a specular tour.

Spyro was amazing, his knowledge and experience of Athens was incredible. Totally recommend for anyone visiting Athens to make sure they have Spyro as their guide. Thank you for wonderful day and will always remember the tour.

A hidden gem that offered local secrets & one of a kind tour. Spyros was an amazing guide giving our small group of 3 a tour that hit the highlights of Athens with the added details that only a long time local would know. He was entertaining, energetic, & knowledgeable. Wear your walking shoes to travel the streets, climb hilltops, zig zag thru all types of terrain. Enjoy the experience!

Ioannis was a wonderful guide. He knows the city intimately and it was the perfect walking tour for our first night in Athens. He pointed out interesting details around every corner and only got us more excited to spend the following days there.

Our guide Yanni met us in Athens and dove right in to the highlights of Athens you may not have known. Weaving through the streets and alleys, our guide educated us on the places locals go to shop, eat and meet up with friends. Telling us about the rich history of Athens we saw areas you would miss if you didn’t have an expert guide to show you. Our guide made recommendations of sights to see and places to shop and eat. He explained the culture of the people who live here and people of the past and how they lived. We saw history all over. A must do tour. You won’t be disappointed.

Our first day in a short stay in Athens and our guide showed us places we wouldn’t have found on our own. Went at our pace and with his suggestions revisited points of interest we wouldn’t have found easily.

Interesting and engaging guide who is passionate about Athens . We enjoyed the tour and the knowledge that he imparted regarding the neighborhoods, changes in the city, the best bakery and restaurants.

This was a very good tour. We have already been in Athens for a few days before going on this tour. But Voula took us around so many different ways and showed us many things we would not have seen and found ourselves. She passed on a lot of information and interesting facts without overloading us. Voula also has a good sense of humour and at the end of the tour it felt like saying goodbye to a good friend.

Ioannis is passionate about his Athenian knowledge and carefully listens to your own interests.He explains that he is a court lawyer and actor by profession. He communicates politely and professionally to understand our wishes for the tour. We talked about what we had experienced already and skilfully Ioannis worked out that we were interested in art and modern politics. We are Scottish and he had interesting insights when comparing our legal systems for instance. Our conversation varied widely using the starting point of the Athenian archeology we walked past. We progressed to modern Greek art by visiting hidden spaces an art cooperative we would never have found. Next we were debating graffiti as art as we walked up the Plaka houses beneath the Acropolis walls with a fascinating story about their origins. He found hidden fresco details which again we would never found without Ioannis. We walked back down through the maze of small streets and markets. Again he skilfully guided us with our interests in mind. At each step of the way he was knowledgable and had an infectious enthusiasm for his local culture. We were returned to near our hotel in a master stroke at a bar called Noel. He understood our enthusiasm for whacky art! What a wonderful man and experience. A real privilege to meet Ioannis. His English is impeccable.

Definitely worth doing. He showed us lots of things to do or where we could go that we otherwise wouldn't have had the confidence or the time to figure out how to get to. Very funny guide as well that showed us some real local delights, not filled with tourists. Amazing!

First our transportation was delayed and we contacted Spyros and he allowed us to be late to the tour. We got there and had to use the restroom and kindly allowed us more delay. As we began the tour, I was uncertain it would be all we hoped for. Soon enough, we started exploring. Spyros took us through back alleys, into coffee shops, by new and old marketplaces and restaurants, sharing each step of the way little nuggets on culture, history, food, and stories over time how Athens has changed, etc. We had already spent 10 days touring Greece with a specialized guide and yet we still got so much insight. We almost felt local because we went to places we never would have otherwise. It was one of the highlights of our trip! He could have gone for hours if we hadn’t had a cutoff! He is passionate and you sense it as he stops, pauses and leans in to share another nugget.
