Athens Highlights: Myths & Philosophers Walking Tour

We took the tour with Bianca and I have to say this was one of the most special and great experiences I've had in so long. What a lovely guide and what a rich learning tour. It was full of history, philosophy and life discussions. The locations were great. I really want to just recommend Bianca over and over again! They also reached out before hand to accommodate for Rain. Communication was super clear.

The tour was disappointing, because it was guided by person who just picked various topics from Greek philosophers to philosophers and mathematicians of the world and drew a wide circle around their findings without any depths.

We had the best time on our myths and philosophies walking tour with John! He was an incredibly knowledgeable and kind tour guide, and was very flexible with anything we wanted to do. We took plenty of breaks and saw all the sights Athens had to offer. Really enjoyed learning about the ancient civilizations and John explained it all in a way that was approachable and interesting. Would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to understand what life would have been like in Ancient Greece.

The tour was definitely worth it! Our guide, Bianca, was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed our discussions about Ancient Greek philosophers. My brother and I both studied philosophy in school, so it was an excellent refresher and came alive with the places and stories we saw and heard. Bianca also introduced us to some Greek culture, going so far as to buy us a breakfast bread, coffee, and our metro ticket back to our hotel. Honestly, talking with her was my favorite part of the tour! I definitely recommend, regardless of your background in philosophy.

We had a great time, my son , who is 14 years old, said “this tour was his favorite by far”Bianca is very knowledgeable. She was able to introduce topics of mythology, philosophy, politics , religion in a very relaxing way , she always finds the perfect place to sit and talk during our walks through the busy and crowded touristic city.

I did this amazing walking tour with Bianca this morning and I could not recommend it highly enough. Not only did I learn about some of the great Greek philosophers and some Greek gods, but I also learnt about Athens. I have learnt to slow down, wander and get lost in this beautiful city. This tour was one of the best tours we have taken. Not only because it gave historical context to our time in Athens but because of our guide, Bianca. She was engaging, passionate, clearly expert in her subject yet made the the subject matter approachable and memorable. It was a walking tour and we covered a lot of ground, yet Bianca did an excellent job of pacing the tour, finding benches for us where possible so it didn't feel too much. The tour was equally loved by me, my husband and our 21 year old and it's clear that she is skilled at making the subject accessible for all ages. Highly recommend!

Bianca was exceptional in her knowledge but more importantly in her ability to enthuse and convey this so important information in such a pleasant and relaxed manner .. we didn’t know how the 4 hours flew by.

From Socrates to Descartes, from the Stoics to Irvine, from Aristotle to Nussbaum - there is so much still to learn from the classical Greek philosophy. Along the way, you get to see Athens from a local's perspective.

Our lovely guide, Bianca, provided an amazing tour for our family. She was very knowledgeable and also warm and down to earth. She paced the tour well—we walked a lot, but had plenty of pauses, and we stopped for a drink at a rooftop restaurant. Bianca was organized in her approach, and pitched the material to our family’s interests. She was also flexible and adapted when needed. We had a great time with her and highly recommend this tour!

I was looking forward to hearing about the famous Greece philosophers while getting a brief tour of the notable city sites. Bianca exceeded my expectations in both regard. She is well educated in Greek philosophy and fully immersed in it. I went beyond her explanation to where we actually engaged in a discussion about 4 of the most famous philosophers. Our private philosophy and democracy tour with Bianca was easily the best tour we’ve ever taken. Having never done a tour like this before, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But Bianca brought complex ideas to life in a way that was both engaging and easy to follow, making the entire experience feel meaningful and memorable. Its like taking a walk with a friend who tells the best stories. My husband, who already has a strong background in philosophy, still learned a lot and so did I, even without that same foundation. Bianca was amazing! She took us all around the sites to see, plus the sites that are hard to find online. The discussions were intellectual. She let us take breaks when we needed it (we were jetlagged and came within a couple of hours of landing), and her insights on philosophy and way of storytelling was very interesting and entertaining!

John was a fantastic tour guide. His in-depth knowledge of the city's history, philosophers, and myths exceeded my expectations and truly was a wonderful experience we will never forget! We walked to several sites and deeply understood the history and legacy behind them! Worth every cent!

Bianca is friendly, highly educated, connected and insightful. She shares her passion for philosophy and Greek culture with ease and elegance. She not only gave us insights into the Greek philosophers, their unique philosophy on life, the discernments but also took us to the beautiful monuments in the city that we thoroughly enjoyed. My husband took lots of pictures and the day was magnificent. In addition, Bianca treated us to the local breakfast food eaten on the go Kouluri- tasty sesame crusted bread, coffee how the locals drink and a visit to the Greek Orthodox Church. We munched on fresh roasted chestnuts and walked the cobblestone lined streets with glee.

Our tour with Bianca was exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Athens. Bianca is a sweet and charismatic person and she is an excellent storyteller. She brought the philosophers to life for us, presenting the information in such an engaging and thought provoking way. In addition to learning about the philosophers, we saw many interesting sites along the way and enjoyed learning more about Athen’s history.

Everyone who visits Athens, even if not for the first time, should take this tour. It will transform and elevate your entire trip having all this history and knowledge of Greek history. The guide, John from Be a Greek, has an amazing gift of explaining this complex history which is colored by many mythological stories, into easy to understand and clear concepts. I actually know more about Greek history from this tour than I remember from Books I have read. He breaks it down beautifully. We covered all the major sites of Greece at a comfortable yet exciting pace. We absolutely loved our experience and our guide. A must-do!

Another fabulous Urban Adventure half day walking tour covering Athens. Our host Babis was passionate and knowledgeable about his home city and gave us a fantastic introduction to Athens. We experienced churches, building, gardens, squares and many areas of Athens, walking as the locals do.

Bianca was Fantastic. We loved her passion for history . We were glued to her every word . She took great care of me because I’m extremely afraid of cats . Bianca was wonderful. She provided an introductory review to not just Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle but many critical thinkers from 500 BC to 1200 AD. Bianca’s delivery was not a lecture at the university level. Instead her analysis and description of ancient Greek philosophy was easy to understand.. We highly recommend her and the tour. The tour provides an important perspective on Greek contribution to Western culture.

It was a great combination of walking around Athens, seeing wonderful sights, and discussing myths, philosophers and history along the way. We especially enjoyed talking to John and exchanging ideas - he was so generous with his time that the tour lasted longer than the official 4 hours. (The drink stop in the middle was very welcome by the way!) One small suggestion for the organisers would be to consider offering a shorter version (maybe 2 - 3 hours?) as 4 hours may be long for some groups. That said, for us it was one of the very best tours we’ve ever done in Athens - highly recommended!

This is a total scam. I have a university degree in philosophy. I can tell you the guide made everything up—total lies that had nothing to do with philosophy. We went in Jan 2024.

My husband and I had a tour with Bianca. She was amazing and so knowledgeable about everything Athens and everything about the philosophers. It was an excellent experience.

This was a very education tour. Not only did John share his vast knowledge of the Greek philosophers, but he also taught us to distinguish architectural styles, how Greek philosophy has reached down through the ages influencing modern day Greece, and a lot of Greek history. Our group was made up of ages 16 to 70, and he paced it well and was able to connect with each of the participants. We enjoyed the tour.

My husband and I did this as a private tour at the end of our European honeymoon. We had one night in Athens before we headed back to the states and wanted some sort of guided exploration of the city to get the most out of our one night. We chose this tour because my husband has recently been very into Greek mythology. I will say, this particular tour is definitely more about philosophers than mythology, but we really enjoyed ourselves. Our tour guide, Bianca, really made our experience exceptional. She is so kind, so knowledgable, and you can tell how much she really loves both Athens and the history that she is sharing. We very much recommend this or any other tour that Bianca gives!

Tour was excellent. Our travel agent Be A Greek had organized our entire Greece trip. I haven't see any travel company like them. The pick up, tour guides, daily detailed itinerary, etc., etc. was so well organized. Their service was round the clock. They made our entire trip flowless, stress-free. There was not a single day we had any issues, even the tour guide they had arranges were so knowledgeable. Be A Greek travel company is highly recommend.

If your looking to bring Athens to life in your soul you must go on this tour and ignite your inner philosopher with the lovely Bianca. She is an amazing guide. She explained all the philosophers one by one with great enthusiastic. We sat on the shades and stairs and discussed the topics like they used to donin athens. She has a great deal of knowledge shining like a north star. I severely advise this special tour to anyone interested. I am so glad to spend time with her❤️

Bianca was absolutely amaaaaazing!! She was super kind accommodating a scheduling issue we had with Viator and she made our first taste of Athens and Greece an absolute dream!! I don’t hunk I would enjoy any tour as much as a I enjoyed Bianca’s!! She was extremely knowledgeable and brought complex philosophical concepts to a clear level of understanding for my tween kids, who enjoyed tremendously her tour and explanations. She was kind, fun, knowledgeable, generous, flexible, super smart…. Absolutely book a tour with her, I would do it over and over again!!
