Athens Highlights By E-bike: Small-group Historic Tour

What a great way to get an overview of Athens! Today, Vas toured us and we learned so much. We appreciated having the ear piece to get route and history as we rode. They provided a free water bottle and at the end a map of areas we rode along with dinner recommendations. Very pleased with this activity.

We had an awesome guided e-bike ride all around Athens old and new! We covered so much ground and history in just three hours - so much more than we could have by foot. Plus our friendly guide was both a historian and anthropologist, so he added tremendous value to our experience and communicated via ear pieces throughout our ride. We also had several lovely stops along the way for photos and short discovery strolls. Solebike even treated us to amazing spanikopita from a local bakery after the bike ride!

THIS IS THE BEST BIKE TOUR IN ATHENS (10 reasons) Why? 1: It's 2.5/3 hours - short, sweet and won't blow your brain up with hours of historian facts and figures (and left me the rest of the day free, some others on the tour were from a cruise ship). 2: Guide Vas makes it lively and informative making me feel like I knew Athens. 3: on brand new bikes and they are the only bike operation to use the Whisper ear-piece (like walking tours) so he could talk to us and give us instructions as we rode (like 'look over here at this...") 4: enough stops so even non-bikers can handle it for sure. 5: owned by the nicest couple who sign you in etc - I loved discovering I was supporting a truly local business. 6: most of the ride was off public roads and through gardens . Super relaxing. 7: we went to sights I def would not have walked to (eg the agora at the acropolis, too far in the heat) or known about ( a hill top with a great Acropolis view with no one around) or timed right! ( saw the changing of the guard not at the main square but in a suburban side street outside an official's house, felt way more intimate) 8: also first time e-biking - so fun! 9: you start early so it's cooler. 10. OK, I have 9 reasons, but this should be enough to know if it's for you. I walked a LOT around Athens and doing it by bike was faster, cooler and it didn't matter when my iPhone went flat as my guide was my google maps, def a highlight of 4 days in Athens. Oh, here's #10! I loved this tour!!! The e-bikes were easy to use. The driver from the ship terminal to the shop was very friendly and shared a wealth of info. The couple that own the company were very friendly and helpful. I loved exploring Athens by bike. We were able to cover a lot of ground and get in and out of different areas easily. Very interesting and informative and definitely got to see and learn a lot. The guide was genuinely knowledgeable and friendly , he was a wealth of knowledge and fun to be around.( I feel bad because I forget his name). He was great and he tailored the trip and times spent in areas based on feedback. One of the beat tours and excursions I have been on. I highly recommend.

We did this our first day in Athens to help fight jet lag. It was great! Marios was fun, helpful, and full of knowledge. We were able to see a lot of Athens and get oriented with the city. We also did a food tour and a cooking class in Athens but this was our highlight.

Our guide Thomas was amazing. He is very knowledgeable in Greek architecture, history, and mythology. We have been through other tours involving historical sites but Thomas went a step above and had pictures of what the historical sites looked like at different periods of time. It really helped seeing an image, whichmade the education easier to understand. The bikes are very good. It is nice having a boost to help up the hills. We are not very athletic but found it very easy to manage the physical part of the tour.

This tour was so much fun!! We enjoyed our guided tour with Thomas - his vast knowledge of the Greek history was incredible. We learned so much and had so much fun riding through the city. Thank you

If you want a history tour and not a bike tour, then this is a good option.Vas is a very knowledgeable guide who likes to talk. However, on a three hour tour I don’t think we rode for more than 39 minutes. Very disappointing.

My wife & I (age 65 & 67) have never been on an e-bike and were a bit concerned … but the instructions were clear and the equipment & guides excellent. Our guide Vas was fantastic. Gave very interesting and informative explanations and history and was always interested in questions and our perspectives. He also was very patient with all levels of cycling capabilities and made the tour fun. If you have balance issues and are a bit older, I would suggest you only take the tour in shoulder seasons or times as it can get quite interesting navigating all the pedestrian traffic and cobblestones, but give it a try. You will have a blast and see fantastic perspectives around the Acropolis of Athens that you’ve never seen before!

Amazing experience with your guide Thomas! A history buff through and through. Thomas was very knowledgeable and you could tell he enjoyed and loved giving us the tour. It was so fun riding around on our e-bikes! Would highly recommend this tour!!

The tour guide was exceptional! The bike ride was perfectly balanced, stopping at ancient sites along the ride around old athens.

We actually double booked this tour and one of our bookings included transportation from the cruise ship port to the solebike location. Be sure that you book the one with transportation. It made things a lot easier (less stressful), And Sofia sent over an excellent taxi driver named Effie. She's very amiable and a good listener. The bikes were easy to learn and get around on. We did not have experience with an ebike prior to this. My (F 50yo) daughter (18yo) was disappointed we didn't arrange for tickets to go inside and to the top of the Parthenon/Acropolis. We had an extra hour after the bike tour, but we could not get last minute tickets. But we rode our bikes all the way around it and saw many sites that were interesting. the tour guide, Alex, was very informative and helpful. She does a great job of helping you rest in the shade while she talks.

Great experience and a cool way to see and explore Athens. Our guide was polite and at the service all time with a lot of patience for everyone. Great tour timing to be in front of the presidential palace when guards are changing and having that "show"

A great way to see the sights, a different perspective from just a walking tour. Our guide was really helpful and knowledgeable about the city. It also helps having an e-bike.

Stelios was a great guide for our family - our teenage boys aren’t great history fans but they really enjoyed seeing Athens by bike and listening to our guide’s commentary as we rode. It was very hot but we found the shade when we could and had time to buy extra cold drinks when we needed one. Definitely recommend if you only have a short time to see the main sights of Athens and learn a little about the city’s history

Great overview of main attractions and views in Athen's city. 6 mile bike ride was fairly easy and tour provided a great background and viewing of most of the key landmarks in Athens. Would recommend.

I am sorry I had to give a poor rating, but I actually didn't get to go on the tour as they didn't have any bikes that fit. The adult bikes where to tall and the kids bike I could reach the ground but couldn't use the pedals properly I am 5'3". My husband did go on the ride and really liked it. Saw some great sites. Be prepared to navigate lots of pedestrians and cars on narrow streets.

One of the best guided excursions I have had. The guide knew so much of the history surrounding our sights. A truly worthwhile trip.

It’s was a good tour but a little too crowded to be riding bikes with so many people on the busy streets. We got to see many sights up close and stopped when we wanted to see something. I wouldn’t recommend this if you’re not confident on a bike with crowded streets. My wife fell off as she was trying to avoid people who wouldn’t move. We still had a good time despite the fall.

We had an awsome tour with 3 small Kids and 4 adults. The bikes were well maintained and it was safe at all times Thank you very much!! We loved it.

Loved this excellent bike tour. It is great way to see lots of sights in a few hours, learn lots about this fascinating city and its history, and enjoy the out of doors. We toke the tour in October when the temperatures were perfect, however might be a different story in the middle of summer! Service was friendly, guide was great, tour was fun.

We really recommend to book this bike tour. You’ll see all the hot spots of Athens in 3 hours. And also when it’s hot, it’s better to go by bicylce then go walking. Deny (hope to have spelled your name correctly) was our very nice and patient tour gide who spoke perfectly good english and told us all about the history of Athens. We highly recommend Solebike! Costa was awesome in accommodating a last minute request and we had a wonderful tour guide in Antonio whose knowledge of Athens was so impressive! You cannot beat seeing Athens this way in the heat - especially when you have three teenagers! The electric bike We were able to capture all of the sights and take amazing photos and learn more about the city. It is a big city and to walk to all of the historic sites would have taken us at least 2-3 days where we were able to see all of it in 3 hours! You can’t beat this company!

I booked this as an excursion through Viking Cruises and I'm so glad I did! It was definitely a highlight of my cruise and time in Athens. The bikes were comfortable and made going up hills a breeze. We saw many of the main sights of ancient Athens and had plenty of time to stop to walk around and take photos while the guides watched over our bikes. Both guides were great and informative and helmets, water, and a post ride refreshment were provided. If you are looking for a way to see and learn about Athens in style, I highly recommend Solebike.

What a fabulous ride throughout Athens! Alex our tour guide was wonderful, setting an easy pace for us and sharing historical facts while visiting major sights and some hidden gems. The e-bikes are fun and simple to use and allow you to get up hills with little effort (we were a group of 4, over 60 yrs old). A definite must while visiting Athens! Easy scheduling online. Our Solebike EBike tour was a wonderful way to get to see some of the incredible sites of Athens. Our guide, Dimitra, was extremely knowledgeable, and we were able to cover a vast amount of Athens in the half day tour. We would certainly recommend Solebike. Great tour with Alex our guide who was lovely.kept everyone safe and made sure we were all together.small group of 4 people.kept to less busy roads ear piece is great for hearing all the commentary while cycling.electric bikes makes everything easy.

Using the ebikes felt like we were going downhill the entire time. The trip was entirely on pedestrian paths, no riding with cars. Felt very safe. Crowded with pedestrians at times, but never a problem. Our guide, Vass, was a lot of fun. Kept things interesting and we had plenty of time to see things up close. Really liked the earbuds whereby we could all hear the guide talking while we were riding. We have been to Athens many times, but this felt new and different. Loved it!

Great way to see and get around Athens well known sights. Highly recommend this tour as the 1st thing you do in the city. Gives a great overview and interesting historical facts. You can afterwards visit the sites you wish up closer and in more detail. Our guide was great, very engaged and personable. Tour is very easy to do with the bikes.

Everything! Dmitri was wonderful and personable. We learned so much about the rich history of Athens in a short amount of time. It was also an added bonus to have the e-bikes-it gave our feet a break after walking around all day the previous day.

Dmitri was awesome! She was so friendly and her English was fantastic! Overall, the tour represents the best way to see historical Athens in a short period of time. Lots of great information about each monument and Athens in general. Also, plenty of time to get off the bike and walk around certain monuments and take pictures or “postcards”. I would say even if you are in Athens for several days and have plenty of time to see each monument you should still take a tour just to get a solid foundational understanding and footing for the geography.

I have taken many bike tours such is this in different major cities around the world and this was by far one of the best. The bikes were high quality. The guide Antonio was fantastic, very knowledgeable, pleasant. The pace was perfect for everyone. I was very impressed with the microphone system they had . Each of us could hear everything Antonio was saying the entire ride. This is the only bike ride I've been on to offer this. Solobike wanted to be sure everyone had a great experience. There was just 2 of us and a delightful family of 6. The family was a little late arriving maybe 5 mins. Solobike offered to take us and not wait for the family to get ready. Which was very kind and considerate but it was only 5 mins and would have been a huge inconvenience to Solobike. I was impressed that they would even offer. All 8 of us had a wonderful time. Different age range from about 10yrs to 67yrs. No one slowed anyone down or struggled to keep up. Absolutely a must do! Couldn't have been a better way to spend the morning

We had a wonderful time biking around Athens. The guide was very knowledgeable and took us to many historical sights in Athens. The e-bikes were easy to use and made traveling the hills of Athens a breeze. I would highly recommend this tour!

This was a fantastic experience. Enjoyed visiting the great archaeological treasures of Athens very safely and leisurely on an electric bicycle through paths that were completely separate from automobile traffic. Was able to catch the sights without worrying or stressing about traffic. The bicycles were in excellent shape, safe and well maintained. The service and the guides were marvelous. It was a very enjoyable experience.
