Itinerary
Sightseeing in Athens starts with the hill of Acropolis which will make your day. On the historical hill, you will have the opportunity to see the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Temple of the Athena Nike, the monumental gateway (Propylaea), the Erechtheum and of course the famous Parthenon, the main temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Athena.
The Propylaea is the monumental entrances to the sacred area dedicated to Athena, the patron goddess of the city. Built by the architect Mnesicles with Pentelic marble, their design was avant-garde. To the south-west of the Propylaea, on a rampart protecting the main entrance to the Acropolis, is the Ionian temple of Apteros Nike.
Parthenon, the main temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Athena. The eternal symbol of the Athenian Democracy and the Western Civilization.
Temple of Poseidon and Athena, the strangest and most sacred place in ancient Athens.
Temple dedicated to the goddess Athena Nike or Wingless Victory.
The Theatre of Dionysus Elefthereus is a major theatre in Athens, considered to be the world's first theatre, built at the foot of the Athenian Acropolis.
The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is a stone Roman theater structure located on the southwest slope of the Acropolis of Athens, Greece. The building was completed in 161 AD and then renovated in 1950.
After the Acropolis, we will head towards the Temple of Zeus, the biggest temple in antiquity, devoted to the King of the Gods, by way of Hadrian's Arch.
We will visit Panathenaic Stadium where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896.
Then moving into the historical center of the city we will drive up the highest hill of Athens, Lycabettus Hill, where you’ll have the best panoramic view of the city, from the hill of Acropolis to the Aegean Sea.
We will see the changing of the guard (Euzones) in front of the old palace, which is today Parliament House, above the central square of Athens.
Syntagma Square is the central square of Athens. The square is named after the Constitution that Otto, the first King of Greece, was obliged to grant after a popular and military uprising on 3 September 1843.
The Hellenic Parliament, in Greek known as Voulí ton Ellínon is the parliament of Greece, located in the Old Royal Palace, overlooking Syntagma Square in Athens. The Parliament is the supreme democratic institution that represents the citizens through an elected body of Members of Parliament
The Academy Building constitutes one of three parts in an “architectural trilogy”. It was founded with the Constitutional Decree of March 18th, 1926, as an Academy of Sciences, Humanities and Fine Arts.
The National Library of Greece was built at the end of the nineteenth century, as the last of the Architectural of Athens, a group of three neoclassical buildings which also includes the Academy and the University. The building was designed by Theophil Hansen.
The National Library of Greece was built at the end of the 19th century, as the last of the Architectural Trilogy of Athens, a group of three neoclassical buildings which also includes the Academy and the University. The building was designed by Theophil Hansen.
On the way passing coastal villages and the island of Salamis (set of the historical naval battle between the Athenians and Persians). Our first pause the Corinth Canal. Finally opened in 1892 separating the Peloponnese Peninsula from the rest of Greece while connecting the Saronic Gulf to the Corinthian Sea. You’ll have time to streach your legs, walk across on a pedestrian bridge and admire the canal closer (if you’re game) on some days bungee jumping is an option.
Ancient Corinth, located at the foot of the hill includes the Roman Agora of Corinth, the temple of God Apollo and a small museum. Apart from its archaeological and historical interest though the site is also one of the most popular religious destinations in Greece. In this amazing place the Apostle Paul preached Christianity, was judged by the tribunal in the Agora and established the best organized Christian church of that period.
The temple of Apollo at Corinth is one of the earliest Doric temples in the Peloponnese and the Greek mainland. Built around 560 B.C.E., of local monolithic limestone on top of an imposing, rocky hill to the north of Acrocorinth, the Archaic temple was an emblem for the Greek city of Corinth, reflecting its growth and prosperity.
We will visit the castle of Acrocorinth, the oldest and largest castle in southern Greece, for some amazing photos.
We will drive back to Athens.

This tour was beyond amazing. I saw a multitude of sites on a relaxed timeline. Questions were answered and interesting facts shared.
A great day spent with a fantastic guide! Theodore (our guide) was knowledgeable and planned the perfect private tour for my mother and me. After picking us up at our hotel in a very clean and comfortable car we drove to Corinth. All along the way (about an hour), Theodore pointed out things of interest and answered all our questions. After visiting Corinth and the museum on our own he drove us to the top for beautiful photos. He then took us to a wonderful restaurant (Marinos)and joined us for a delicious lunch of traditional Greek foods. After a leisurely lunch with a wonderful breeze we returned to the car and made our way back to our hotel. The 6+ hour tour went by so quickly. We travel quite a bit and Theodore is one of the best guides we ever spent time with. Highly recommend!!!
This was an amazing experience. Our tour guide and driver were very accommodating and very knowledgeable.
Family of 8, ages 9-72. Chris was the driver. Our guide was Alice and she was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The van we traveled in was luxurious. Would definitely choose them again.
My family and I had an amazing day! Our wonderful guide Theodore was so gracious and knowledgeable. We toured Athens and decided to take a trip to Corinth. Theodore was more than willing to help us and drove us to beautiful country and sea side sites. He was always punctual and gave us plenty of time to tour areas like the Acropolis and museums. He even stopped for some souvenir purchases. My family and I made beautiful memories exploring Athens and Theodore was a huge part of making it all happen!
What a great experience, thanks to Babis for creating a memorable day. The early slowpoke drive to Corinth was due to unexpected rush hour traffic, but Babis made the most of our time once we reached the archeological ruins. It was amazing to see the museum and several sites that were still distinguishable. Onward to Athens, we were given precise instructions about where to meet back after Acropolis stop. The inclines and rocky surfaces were perfectly managed by us four golden agers, and once on top, the amazing ruins did not disappoint. Babis suggested a lunch stopping point, but we indicated that we'd wait until returning to the ship. Babis strategically used the ample remaining time to drive past many wonderful landmarks including the Zeus Temple, the Presidential Palace, The Panathenaic Stadium, Athens City Hall, Hellenic Parliament, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (with changing of the guard), The National Library and other significant sites. It was a win-win day for all of us and the October cooler weather was a bonus, too.
We had a fantastic day with Stefanos from Olive Sea Travel, who was knowledgeable, professional, prompt, and courteous! From the hotel pickup to the drop off at the end of the day, everything was taken care of and all we had to do was enjoy the tour and take in all that Athens and Corinth had to offer, made all the easier with the expert knowledge provided by Stefanos. Extra convenience was provided by Olive Sea Travel purchasing our Acropolis tickets in advance, and Stefanos efficiently squired us to all the sites while managing to avoid the heat and crowds (as much as possible given the time of year and number of visitors in Athens). Cold water was provided throughout the day, and the car provided a smooth and comfortable ride. It was a fantastic day - Stefanos and Olive Sea Travel truly created an immersive and memorable experience for our first time in Athens! Highly recommend!

We had an amazing trip. Our tour guide and our driver scheduled our visits to a t. They helped us miss the crowds, not be destroyed by the heat, and they gave us a true Greek experience.
Outstanding guide. We were able to adjust our schedule and itinerary as needed along the way. I would definitely use this service again.
This tour was nothing short of amazing! It was the highlight of our two weeks in Europe. The guide, Yannis, was phenomenal and had deep knowledge of Athens, the Acropolis, the National Museum… all of the important historical landmarks. He was so excited to share his knowledge of, and passion for, ancient Athens. Highly, highly, highly recommend getting the optional guide. The driver, Stefanos, was an extremely professional driver and kept us from having to worry about the seemingly chaotic Athens roads and drivers. He, too, shared historical information with us.
The tour overall was good. Visited the sites we desired. Loved the religious connections. Our driver was nice and knowledgeable, took us to a great restaurant for lunch, but the was not able to go with us to the main attractions. We knew this up front but regretted it afterwards. The provided reach out to me several times asking for passport information which I was not comfortable providing and yet the driver never said anything about it. That’s the main reason for the 3 star rating
This was an amazing way to see Athens and Corinth in just one day. Our guide also catered to our every need. He tailored our sights to what we wanted and spoiled us all day.
Driver was very positive and pleasant, and was able to give us in-depth knowledge of Hudson history and area . His English was also excellent .
The driver Panos was professional and knowledgeable. He made the experience memorable and educational. It was fabulous.
We had an amazing day visiting must see sights in Athens and Corinth. Our guide Panos was super friendly and knowledgeable about Greek history and culture. He really looked after us on the day and made sure we enjoyed our experience, always giving us helpful advice. Efharisto poly!
We had a good day with our guide Stevie & driver Sunday. They took good care of us. We went to Corinth first to see all the sites there, then back to Athens for those sites. Great timing as we did not encounter huge crowds with the other cruisers! It was also nice to see the smaller Corinth sites before heading to the larger ones in Athens. Our car was always ready & waiting for us, and our guide was very knowledgeable about the sites & area. I’m really glad we had a guide in addition to the driver because I think we would’ve been a little lost if we had gone into the sites by ourselves.
We had a wonderful tour with George. He was very courteous, knowledgeable and always ready but never rushed our time at the sights. Getting to see Corinth gave us a drive outside the city and going up to AgroCorinth we had a lovely view of the countryside. We would highly recommend this tour and driver.
What an amazing day! Aristotelis showed us the highlights of Athens and Corinth in a fun and efficient way. We chose the city tour over the flea market and were glad we did. Aristotelis' passion as a tour guide was infectious. He was clearly meant to be a tour guide. He had some surprises for us along the way too. We had such a good time, we booked an evening tour with him that same night. Luckily for us, he had a cancellation. Thanks Aristotelis!!!
The booking process itself was seamless and professional. We were greeted in the airport by George who spoke perfect English and Greek! He was incredibly kind and hospitable. His love for Greece was contagious. He told us all kind of interesting facts and tales and things only locals would know which was really cool. The trip was super relaxing and comfortable. We saw SO much in one day which was all we really had in Athens…HIGHLY recommend Olive Sea Travel. Would book with them again without a doubt!
Guide was great - very cordial. Knew history ver well. Made sure we were comfortable and had enough time at all the stops. Took photos of us with our camera when requested. Made sure we saw the Changing of the Guard at Greece’s tomb of Unknown soldier, which was fascinating - very enjoyable.
We had an incredible day in Athens that made it the highlight of our two week cruise. Our driver Andreas went out of his way to make sure that we had a great tour. He was very knowledgeable about the area and the sights and made sure that we saw all the highlights. Andreas made sure that we had a good understanding of what we would see before we went in as he was not allowed to accompany us inside the locations. He even suggested a fabulous restaurant on our drive to Corinth that was on the water and had the best Greek food any of us had every had. It was just a wonderful day and highly recommend that you request Andreas and truly enjoy this experience.
I read mixed reviews and was somewhat skeptical but Petros immediately negated my skepticism. Not only incredibly knowledgeable of the historical aspects of each destination on the tour, he went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience after the tour. Great guide and only enhanced my experience. Would recommend to anyone
Lisandro was our guide. He was very polite and knowledgeable. He answered all our questions very patiently. The tour started at 8. We were brought to the acropolis and spent 1.5 hrs. Then we drove to the canal which was 1 hr away. Then we drove to Corinth which was only 10 mins from the canal. This is where we saw the church of St Paul. Then after we were dropped off at Old Corinth. Outside there were shops and a very good restaurant where we had our lunch. We went back to Athens with plenty of time and did the Coliseum, Parliament and much more. It’s worth the trip.
Thanos was an unbelievable guide! We had the most amazing time with our family!! He took us to all the best highlights in Athens and recommended a wonderful place to eat.
The historical sites we visited were awesome! It’s difficult to imagine those structures still standing after all these years. Really enjoyed the changing of the guard at the Presidential palace. Very unique! Our tour guide, Socrates was super! He was very knowledgeable of the area and very accommodating.
The guide was a credit to your organization. Very knowledgeable. Was totally dedicated to our enjoyment and our entertainment.
Alexander the representative with fantastic. Very friendly, knowledgeable and personable. Would highly recommend
Our driver, Lysandross (sic) was great. He was more of a guide than a driver. He made the day totally enjoyable. The changing of the guard at the Presidential home was especially a nice addition. Of course seeing the Acropolis and the other historic sites were great. The trip to Corinth was a little long but well worth the time. The spot our driver/guide choose for lunch was lovely with great food and large portions but not pricey. I highly recommend our driver and this tour.
If you want a great tour use these guys and request Nasos. He was so knowledgeable about the cities and the history of Greece. He helped us navigate through everything. He is so passionate about the job or the fun day as he calls it that it just comes over to you. Nasos is awesome and I highly recommend this company and him.
We enjoyed the personalized service that Petros offered us. We were able to see the best sights in Athens before the large crowds came, and Corinth was beautiful. It was a great way to travel. Thanks for a wonderful tour!
Alexander was an incredible guide for us. He has a great depth of knowledge on the history and a good command of the English language. His excitement to educate us made the trip more enjoyable. The private tour is the way to go if you want to get in early to avoid the crowds and not be lost in a crowded tour. The only item we did not expect was not being escorted inside the venues. Alexander did a great job giving us the history before going in, so I would suggest taking notes.
We had a great time exploring Athens and Corinth. Our tour guide, Petros, was extremely knowledgeable about Greek history and culture. He made an extra effort to bring us to specific places we were interested in and spent a full 9 hours with us. Highly recommend!
We visited Greece in November and one of our highlights is the great time we had with Alexander. He gave us great information and was very patient with us, even when we spent more time at some places. He got us to different parts of Athens and Corinth and was very friendly, teaching us Greek words, and answering our questions related to the culture and the political aspect of the country. It was very pleasant and a great learning experience!
What a fabulous day!! We only had one day in Athens, and we saw everything we wanted to see. Alexander was the absolute best!! He shared all the history with us and was very accommodating. We couldn’t be happier to have spent the day with him!!!
Our guide Petros did a fantastic job picking us up from the cruise pier on time and providing a full day private tour of Athens and Corinth. There was flexibility in seeing what we wanted to see and how long to spend at each site. Petros was also very kind and informative - would highly recommend!
We had an amazing time visiting the Acropolis, Ancient Corinth and even saw the whole Athens in the night. Our guide and driver, Alexander was so great, nice and polite. He explained us everything and was very attentive. We recommend this experience a 100%. ¡Gracias, Alexander! Te veremos en PR.
Our day could not have been better. We saw the highlights and were able to progress at our own pace. Our driver/guide was absolutely amazing. He anticipate or every need and was a friend by the end of the day. If your time is limited, this is a fantastic way to see both Athens and Corinth!
Lovely day trip where you get to navigate through Athens highlights and beat the crowds. Corinth was an added delight if you are Christian including the Corinth canal. Tickets not included to archeological sites, but you can purchase on the tour, cash or card.
Fantastic experience! Tas was super chill and let my wife (who's pregnant) and I see Athens and Corinth at our own pace. The restaurant he took us to was also really good. The food and wine was delish. Highly recommend this tour, and a special thank you to our excellent driver/guide, Tas. Bravo and efharisto!
Our driver, Tas, was excellent and went far and beyond what was expected. It was an enjoyable and rewarding day. His knowledge of the sites was fantastic. Our thanks for a prefect day.
My husband and I only had 1 full day in Athens before heading to the islands, and we are so glad we spent it with Nasos on this tour! He was friendly and knowledgeable, and got us little treats along the way. Highly recommend!
Fotis was really knowledgeable and guided us throughout the day. This trip is totally worth it, where we could see the important places in Athens and akcopolis in a single day. The guide also offered us flexibility and different options to choose from. It was amazing, as we had only a day in Athens. We are totally satisfied and do not have any regrets that we missed anything.
We had the best of tour guides named Mike! He was very professional, personal and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our tour tremendously.
Our tour was directed by George who gave us very interesting information about Greece, Athens and Corinth from historical, cultural, social and religious perspectives. George’s knowledge is extensive and he was very willing to discuss a diverse range of aspects of ancient and modern life in Greece. The vehicle was very comfortable; air conditioned and spacious. George even had cold bottles of water for us. The itinerary was perfect for us as we have varied interests in Greek history and the tour catered well to this. George was very flexible with our need to spend more time at some places and less time at others. We highly recommend Olive Sea Travel tours and we thank George for a perfect day. Troy and Mel from Australia.
Our time in Athens and Corinth could not have been better! Our guide, Alex, was absolutely fantastic! I cannot say enough good about him! He was perfectly organized which allowed us to see as many sights as possible in 1 day. After our conversations throughout the day he even stopped at a few extra places he thought we might like. It was a very hot day and he had cold water waiting for us. The restaurant he brought us to for lunch was so yummy and he was kind enough to join us! We could not have asked for a better day or a better guide. We were sorry to part ways with Alex at the end or our day! Thank you for a great visit to your beautiful country! (Julie H via Jim M)
There could not have been a better guide/host than Alex. He met us right on time (even early) at the cruise terminal and was a fun, gracious guide for a full day tour. He got us to the Acropolis ahead of both the heat and the crowds. Then on to other Athens sites before heading to Corinth for the afternoon. We lunched together at a great restaurant in Corinth and Alex was part of the family. Highly recommend a private tour versus a bus group. Perfect day in Greece.
We enjoyed the tour with our kind driver. The car was very clean and comfortable. We definitely recommend Olive Sea Travel, with the very nice logo! Thank you!!!
Our group consisted of 4 adults. We were picked up in a nice Mercedes Benz van and were guided by Dem. Dem was absolutely amazing - he was super knowledgeable, funny and extremely nice and accommodating to our needs - mainly our many questions of Athens and Greece in general. He entertained us the entire time and appeared to enjoy our company as we enjoyed his. Dem speaks extremely well and has a great sense of humor - his knowledge on Greece and it's history was so impressive to all of us we were blown away by how well rounded our tour guide was. I've had many tour guides recently as we just spent 2 weeks in Egypt and Greece and Dem by far was the best. The tour was perfect for our group - we got to see everything we wanted and didn't feel rushed. Everything was perfect - I would definitely reccomend. And if you get Dem as your tour guide....the gods have blessed you.
