Next we will drive up the highest hill of Athens, Lycabettus Hill, where you’ll have the best panoramic view of the city, from the hill of Acropolis to the Aegean Sea
You will be feeling hungry by now, so our next stop is going to be a traditional Greek tavern to enjoy your meal, in a non touristic area where local Athenians go.
After lunch, we will head towards the Temple of Zeus, the biggest temple in antiquity, devoted to the King of the Gods.
It was built as a ''thank you'' to Hadrian for completing the construction of the temple of Zeus.

Next you will visit the Panathenaic Stadium, the stadium where the modern Olympic Games were held in 1896.
A great example of the 19th-century landscape architecture (English style). Its construction began in 1839 and its subsequent development is directly linked to the founding of the Modern Greek state and the development of the city of Athens in a modern European capital.
Next driving alongside the National Garden, we will see the changing of the guard (Euzones) in front of the old palace, which is today Parliament House, above the central square of Athens, Syntagma. The square is named after the Constitution that Otto, the first King of Greece, was obliged to grant after a popular and military uprising on 3 September 1843.

At the entrance of the museum grounds, look through the plexiglass floor to see the ruins of an ancient Athenian neighborhood, which were artfully incorporated into the museum design after being uncovered during excavations. This dazzling modernist museum at the foot of the Acropolis’ southern slope showcases its surviving treasures still in Greek possession. While the collection covers the Archaic and Roman periods, the emphasis is on the Acropolis of the 5th century BCE, considered the apotheosis of Greece’s artistic achievement. Built in 2009, this museum was voted as the best mono-thematic museum for 2019. You can choose to visit either the new Acropolis Museum or spent time in the neighborhood of Plaka.
In case you don't want to enter the Museum of the Acropolis, you can walk at the traditional neighborhood with the narrow and picturesque streets, that is known as the neighborhood of the Gods.
Our driver/ tour director was exceptional. He was very knowledgeable about the area and shared lots of wonderful information. He let us wander through Corinth at our leisure.

We are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and had planned some special tours to accent our celebration. We had our plans change on short notice and needed to schedule a tour of the Athenian Agora and Ancient Corinth. Theodore was very understanding and accommodating. He provided all of the details for the trip at a reasonable price and he even surprised us by planning in some extras. We had specific locations we wanted to see to follow the footsteps of the Apostle Paul and provided a list of those locations to Theodore. He reviewed our list and, on the day of our tour, added an additional location at the port of Cenchrea, which we didn’t have on our list, but where the apostle Paul left to go to Ephesus. He also brought us to the Church of Saint Paul that we weren’t aware of, so he added tremendous value. He drove us himself!!! The vehicle was an immaculate Mercedes van. Not only did he provide us with water but when it started to rain he also provided us with 2 umbrellas. We had a great tour visiting many historical sites along the way. We were able to experience 4 monasteries, excellent meals and accommodations. We did a 2 day Meteora tour with Spiros and it was absolutely wonderful. We saw parts of Greece we would not have known to look for, at wonderful food at his suggestion, saw Meteora at sunset, and we're able to tour the monastaries on our own pace and with his helpful insider knowledge. He picked us up and dropped us off at our VRBO in Athens. The van was very comfortable and spacious; we very much enjoyed the surprise touch of a small car fridge stocked with much needed cold water. Wonderful experience. my family only had one day in Athens after a cruise. We needed to get from the cruise port to the airport with all our luggage but wanted to see the major sites. Theodore was absolutely amazing! He picked us up from the airport right on time, handled all our luggage, and got us to our hotel with zero stress. We didn’t have to lift a finger - he loaded and unloaded everything. As soon as we got in the van he had cold water waiting for us after our long flight. The next day he was waiting at our hotel to take us to every excursion. He drove us right up to the gates and already had our tickets, so we skipped every line. Trip to Meteora was fantastic. The van was very comfortable for 6 of us, and we appreciated the provided cold water. Our driver Spiros was personable, informative and accommodating. He not only gave us much history of the stops we made, but was great at giving tips for the rest of our trip, and selected a restaurant for lunch that we all enjoyed.
This is an amazing affordable private tour. It went well above our expectations. Theo went above and beyond to make this day happen. We were picked up in front of our hotel and had a relaxing comfortable ride to Delphi. Our driver Spryos was friendly and had a lot of great information to share. After our visit to the Delphi archeological site, we had lunch recommended by Spryos. Great views and food. I would definitely recommend this tour and would do it again myself when back in Athens.
While on vacation with my family and friends Spyros was our driver for the day and he made the experience so much better. In the morning he picked us up right in front of where we were staying without any delay, once we were in the car he let us know that there were waters in the car for us as well as a briefing on what the plans were for the day and the time that each task would be done by, it was super easy to do the Delphi tour since he organized it all beforehand and the only things we had to pay separately for was tickets to the oracle of Delphi museum and our lunch, after our tour he had arranged a lunch for everyone that was all local sourced handmade food which was phenomenal. Even during the drive he was very informative about what we were doing as well as suggestions once we told him where else we were going during our trip, he also gave us a choice for a brake in the middle if we weren’t used to long drives and was very lenient when we were a bit late to one of our timing.
Private tour with seniors is the best thing you can give your seniors and yourself. This review is all due to Mr. Theodore. From the moment he picked us up at our hotel and how he engaged with my parents I knew our second day in Greece was going to be as wonderful as our first. Theodore’s communication skills and ease of conversation made it feel as if we were talking with family. His manner and way of speaking and historical knowledge of Ancient Greece and present Greece was easy to follow and understand. The kindness and patience he had with my father and mother was gentle and felt heard. Among various places we went to The Acropolis was especially strenuous for my senior parents and though he couldn’t guide us throughout, his direction and know how aided the experience. We didn’t stay long as the heat and the reflection from the sun onto the marble is was truly exhausting. Constant communication and care. On our way down from The Acropolis , my father noticed a man playing his guitar and I knew he’d need a moment but my mother had reached her walking limit. Mr. Theodore met me where we were and took my mother to the van so she could relax while I stayed with my father a little longer. There were many moments of care and attention . True we are paying for a service but your guide makes the experience one to remember or one you’d rather not do again. Our last stop was the Acropolis Museum and we were excited to go through its levels. But my father was feeling tired with bouts of sharpness in his chest - my octogenarian said he was fine that he didn’t think it was a stroke he was just exhausted but I informed Theodore and he was ready to take him to a hospital but after much: “I’m ok. I’m ok” from my father we decided to not continue through the museum and head back to the hotel. It took me a few days to write this review as I wanted to express my deepest gratitude as we were blessed to have been paired with Theodore for that day. Mr. Theodore gifted my Dad a little book of Greece and after our ordeal at the Museum: we returned to the hotel, he took a light nap, went up to the pool area and read the entire book front to back to relax and requested to return to the restaurant Theo took us to eat (we went the next day). Airport transfer arriving and departing, 5 day tour of Peloponesse (LOVED THIS) , a tour of Athens, Cape Sounion, and a custom option to the island of Salamis. I highly recommend this company! My family went on a private multi-day “The Footsteps of Paul” tour. It was a wonderful, well-planned customizable experience with some wiggle-room for last-minute changes. Spyros is an excellent driver and parker with tremendous experience. He has a fine background of Greece’s sites and history/culture, a good sense of humor, and great sense of timing. He was early/prompt to pick us up. We tend to get to sites and restaurants before the busloads of visitors enter. We were grateful for his expertise of life in Greece, restaurant recommendations, and way around country. As Christians, we especially appreciated the Philippi- guided tour with Shula. We also enjoyed the beauty of Delphi’s mounts and valley of olives, Meteora’s monasteries, the cataract of Edessa, the port areas of Thessaloniki and Kavala. We booked a 3 day tour to Olympia and Delphi. Theodore the owner was very responsive during the booking part. On the tour he was our guide and is very knowledgeable and professional. His knowledge of Greece was very deep and informing. The hotels he chose were top notch and each restaurant he recommended was amazing. Oh. My. God. I took 2 tours with this company, and both of them amazed me. The first one was the Athens tour, and the other was the Delphi + Meteora package. The owner of the company and our driver, Theodore, was exceptional. He took us to delicious restaurants, and even had the dessert place next door to one of them bring us Lokumades while we were sitting at our table at a different restaurant. While we were on the ride, he told us all about Greek mythology and traditions. Did you know that cypris trees are called that because a kid (Kyparisso) loved his pet deer so much that when he accidentally killed it, he cried himself into a tree? The tour of Athens was supposed to just be a normal tour, but he recommended his friend, a licensed guide, to have us tour the Acropolis. He took us all around the amazing buildings, then gave us a speedy but incredible tour of the Acropolis Museum. After we were finished with that, Theo took us on an in-depth tour of the stunning city of Athens. He took us to the almost hypnotising changing of the guards, then to the various sites of Athens. This next tour was so amazing that it could have been turned into a Greek myth: During our Delphi + Meteora tour, his car sadly broke down... BUT NOT TO WORRY!! This happened during our dinner (that he reserved for us, which was delicious by the way), and not only did he arrange for a different driver to continue the tour the next day, but he even called a cab and told him to go inside the restaurant to bring us to our hotel. The process was so smooth that the only thing we had to worry about was him and his car who were 200+ miles away. We were sad to see him go, but the driver who replaced him was almost as good. He woke up at 3 A.M to get to Meteora and bring us to the jaw-dropping monasteries and nunaries on the cliffs. We barely finished our 1st monastery (out of three) when a pleasant surprise awaited us at the parking lot. Theo had fixed his car and made it back! Overall, these 2 journeys where easaily my favorite of our travels to Greece. I HIGHLY recommend Theodore and Exceptional Tours Greece.
What a wonderful time we had with Exceptional Tours Greece!! Great Value too!! Theodore was AWESOME!! Our family of 14 came to Greece from the USA to visit relatives and do some sightseeing. We needed transportation and thought using multiple cabs would be expensive and difficult to coordinate. Then we found Exceptional Tours Greece! They picked us up from the train station and took us to our hotel in one Tour Bus! It was the most convenient thing possible! And way cheaper than using cabs. The Tour was exceptionally well done! I highly recommend it! Then they also took us on other days to the Ferry and nights to restaurants and wherever we needed to go. They were courteous and prompt and made something that would be impossible, possible!! The last day they picked us up from our hotel and took us to the airport. They made our trip worry free and most memorable!! Our Daughter is using Exceptional Tours Greece this summer in June, because of such wonderful and trustworthy service! We booked a full day, private Athens tour and it exceeded our expectations. All of the main Athens attractions were included, the itinerary was well organized and flexible when needed. Had a delightful time with Theodore on our tour of Delphi. We especially appreciated his flexibility on the tour. We were not rushed or on a time table like with many bus tours. It was nice not to have to show up at stops with 50 other people. He provided an excellent background on the sites visited and on Greek mythology. He was also great at answering our many random questions about Greece and life in Greece.

We used Exceptional Tours Greece for transfers from the airport to hotel, hotel to cruise port, and cruise port to airport. While in Athens we also did a one-day private tour. All the services were outstanding. The drivers were all on time, friendly, informative, and helpful with luggage. All the cars were clean and comfortable. On the full day private tour, we were taken to sites in Athens (i.e. Acropolis. changing of the guard, etc.) and taken to areas outside of the city itself. Having all of these services made for a trip of a lifetime.

We did the 4 day trip - Corinth, Nafplion, Olympia, Delphi, and Meteora. My husband is a slow walker with balance issues, having Parkinsonisms. Theodore decided to take us himself. He was so considerate to get the vehicle as close as possible so my husband didn't have to walk too far. He offered great places to eat. We had souvlaki on a skewer from a food truck that was outstanding! We wanted local food and we were never disappointed. There were stops in-between the major points of interest that we throughly enjoyed. The private guides were patient, knowledgeable, and maneuvered us around tour groups in the museums. We met a few of Exceptional's other drivers along the journey, and their clients thought their drivers were great as well. We would use Exceptional Tours Greece again and recommend to others.
How to tell you just don't waste time and book this tour company without doing pages and pages of how they anticipated every wish we had. The conversation with our driver felt like he was family (Alex). The guides we had got us in and told us more than most professors would have been able to. The places we ate and stayed at were better than the places I would have picked. We all felt like we were special friends who were getting spoiled. I wish I had Theodore plan my entire time in Greece not just the two days. We will be using them again in the future for any trips we have in Greece.
We really enjoyed our full day tour of Athens. Petros was an excellent driver and guide. He was very knowledgeable and shared the history and details of the sites we visited.
Yanis took us on a six day tour through the Peloponese. His knowledge and expertise about the culture, geography, and environment is extensive. He shared his knowledge with us and allowed us to have an enriching experience. He is friendly, caring, and fun. We felt safe and very happy.
Theodore was amazing . He was friendly , accommodating and extremely knowledgeable about all of the sites we toured in Athens . The tour was amazing and is highly recommended.
Beyond our expectations! Our 5-Day tour of Classical Greece and Meteora was exactly as described, plus more. The service Theodore provided was top notch. We traveled as a family of four with our kids 22 & 19. Theodore arranged the hotel rooms with a suite for us and a standard room with two beds for our kids. The accommodations were top tier in each of their locations and provided a plentiful breakfast to start off each day. We enjoyed our evening meals each day at a recommended restaurant and after the second night there was no question that we would not deviate from Theodore's recommendation. We particularly enjoyed that both our accommodations and meals were at local independent establishments. We also booked three tour guides with Theodore's help for Olympia, Delphi and Meteora. All arrangements were made in advance for us and couldn't have gone smoother. The guides spoke very good English and provided bountiful insight and information on the sites. Theodore is also a fountain of historical information and provided a detail overview of each site. In closing, our tour was a framework that was customizable, flexible in pace and adaptable. Our family was physically able to manage the boundless steps and high temperatures (with the help of the endless water supply), but I have no doubt that accommodations could be made. For our group we added a swimming stop and even a mine tour, plus stops for snacks along the way. Book it!
