Athens Food Tour

Eva’s food tour was a unique mixture of local culinary favorites, an interesting panorama of art and special sites in her favorite neighborhoods, and a fun exchange with my fellow guests. I loved it.

Our evening with Eva was the best part of our time in Athens! She is delightful, funny, engaging and excited about her city. She spaced out our food sampling with lots of walking & sightseeing. She’s never met a stranger and truly seemed to know everyone. We are still so full in our bellies and hearts and made new friends!

This food tour was Amazing. Eva was just wonderful. It was like touring with a close friend. Not only were the food choices and restaurant terrific but sightseeing in Athens with someone with so much knowledge of the area was truly enjoyable. I would definitely do this tour again with Eva next time I’m in Athens. And I would surely recommend Estia Tours to anyone who’s looking for great food, sightseeing and of course, wonderful company.

The best way to see & eat your way through Athens! We got to see so many great places we would have never found on our own. The food was amazing & the experience was unforgettable!

This was the most amazing tour I have ever taken in my life! All of the food was amazing, but the most memorable part was Eva’s (the tour guide) knowledge and personality throughout the streets of Greece. Maybe one day I will forget how the food tasted, but I will never forget who Eva is. It is such a pleasure to have met her and every single item we tried (and there was an abundance) was delicious. I highly recommend this tour for anyone in Athens and especially at the beginning of your trip to know what to eat more of later on! Eva is the most special person I have ever met and the best way to have any tour in Athens

Eva was fabulous! We took the food tour on our last day in Athens, and it was so much more than just a food tour. She took us around parts of the city that we would’ve never explored on our own. The highlight, all the food…the food that we tasted was amazing. We went to so many different little authentic places that we would’ve never found on our own. By the end of the night we were so full, definitely come hungry! Eva was so warm and friendly and hospitable, highly recommend this tour!

Eva is incredible. Her knowledge of the city and the food is amazing. Her friendliness is so sincere and she truly makes you feel as though you are just catching up with a friend in an amazing city. The food was incredible and the value was outstanding.

An amazing food tour with Eva. So much food! Eva was so knowledgeable and welcoming. We ate so much, it was hard to fit the loukamades in at the end. Not just food, we also got to experience some hidden areas in Plaka. I would recommend to anyone, particularly on their first night in Athens.

Can I give Eva 10 stars?? She was AMAZING. Funny, charismatic, knowledgeable, she kept my 12 and 14 year olds in stitches. She walked us through some beautiful quiet spots in Athens that I never would have seen before and we ate ourselves silly! She knows every shopkeeper so we waited for nothing. I told her I’d like to bring home some olive oil so she made sure to stop at her favorite olive oil (and honey!!) place. By the end of the night she was disco dancing with my son and even my sometimes prickly 14 year old daughter gave her a hug goodbye. This will definitely be one of the highlights of our trip.

What an incredible experience! As a couple visiting Athens, we wanted to see more than the typical tourist spots, and Eva delivered exactly that. She took us to places we would never have found on our own, truly off the beaten track and full of local character. The food was outstanding, from delicious sheep's yogurt to the most amazing spinach tart, along with many other authentic Greek specialties. Every stop had its own story, and Eva's knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience even more special. What really stood out was Eva's passion for what she does. She clearly loves sharing Athens, its culture, and its food, and that passion shines through in every part of the tour. It felt less like a guided tour and more like exploring the city with a knowledgeable local friend. If you want to discover the real Athens and enjoy wonderful food along the way, we cannot recommend this tour highly enough. A truly memorable experience

We’ve taken food tours in cities around the world, and this was by far the best one we’ve ever experienced. Eva was an absolute delight—knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about sharing Greek culture and cuisine. We loved exploring a variety of neighborhoods, each with its own unique character, while sampling an incredible array of delicious local foods. This tour was the perfect introduction to Greece and gave us a much deeper appreciation for Athens and its culinary traditions. Don’t miss this tour! I give it my highest recommendation!

Eva showed many sites off the beaten path that we would not have seen otherwise. We tasted at small eateries and the food was delicious. We walked through the market and were amazed at the beautiful fresh foods. It is a lot of walking so be prepared.

We had a wonderful tour. We walked through the lesser traveled streets and saw what normal tourists on their own would not see. We sampled many foods and went through the markets. Lunch was excellent. Highly recommend.

Eva Estia was WONDERFIL!! We had an amazing time. She took us places and showed us things we would have never found on our own!! Very informative and all the food was delicious!! Such a good time!! Just do it!

Eva was absolutely wonderful...she made us feel welcome & at home right away. She was enthusiastic, quick, clever, and fun! The Greek foods she introduced us to were delicious, starting with lukumades (donut holes with honey & cinnamon), then the best-ever spanakopita I have ever had. We visited a shop with amazing honey, and another with special bread sticks. The main meal was at a family-owned restaurant in Psyrri, where we had tastings of multiple delicacies (we were stuffed!). We discovered a love for fava beans (yellow peas), and also the calamari was exceptionally good. We walked through a farmers' market and also an indoor meat market--both fascinating to see. Dessert was yogurt with fruit (I chose bergamot, which is similar to lemon), and we became hooked on this amazing dessert...we had it several more times on our trip! There's nothing like real Greek ingredients, and Eva was exceptional at knowing where to find the best delights!!!

Enjoyed “hidden gems” of Athens with tasty samples along the way, including traditional dinner food at a Taverna. Also appreciated local insights of Greek culture.

A wonderful evening with Eva. We visited the most beautiful and interesting areas of the city, her stories painting a highly informative picture of the locale. Have your camera ready for the incredible buildings and views on the way. And then there was the food, from amazing honey to traditional Greek specialities, with the vendors providing their own stories to complement the tastings. The evening finished with a sumptuous Greek dinner and wine. Eva's charm, coupled with her knowledge of this city and the food, made for a great experience. Highly recommended. Eva was fun, knowledgeable, energetic and the food was great!

Eva was exceptional!!! We couldn’t have asked for a better host to tour the city with and eat a lot of unique and yummy food. She was energetic, hilarious, and fun. You can tell she loves meeting people and showing them the city. We are so glad to have tried many local treats and enjoy a Greek meal. We were a family of five with daughters aged 10, 14, & 18. They thoroughly enjoyed the tour too. We would highly recommend her.

We were so glad that we booked this tour! Eva is a fabulous guide - so warm and friendly that it's as if an old friend has moved to Athens and is showing you all the great places she's discovered. All the food we tried was delicious and it's worth doing the tour early in your holiday so you can go back to some of the lovely cafes and restaurants that she shows you. It was great that as well as taking us to eating places she also took us on a walking tour of some pretty areas off the main tourist routes. Well worth the money!

This morning’s food tour was an absolute highlight of our time in Athens. Our guide, Eva, was ready and waiting at the pick-up point, immediately making us feel welcome and excited to explore the sights, sounds and — most importantly — the tastes of this wonderful city. For over four hours we wandered through the streets, taking in incredible views while stopping at a carefully chosen selection of restaurants and cafés, each with its own unique history and story. It wasn’t just about sampling delicious food; it was about sharing in the passion and pride each establishment had for what they do. Eva was friendly, engaging and great fun throughout. This walking food tour with Eva was perfect. We tried so many different foods from a great variety of shops, markets, and restaurants. We were so full at the end and had plenty of leftovers to take home too. She also mixed in a good amount of history and general knowledge of the area. Lastly, Eva is such a sweet person and running this tour solo, so you know that she will be your guide. We prefer this more personal tour compared to the larger tour companies.

It is a wonderful tour with Eva! We enjoyed an evening walk through Athens exploring lots of food and eating places recommended by Eva. There is so much food!! And we loved every moment of it!

Eva is passionate and energetic about her country’s food. There are several stops along the way, so pace yourself because you will eat A LOT. We walked through different neighborhoods and saw some interesting things we never would have found on our own. This is a great way to see the city with a local. Wear some comfortable shoes because there is a lot of walking.

Now I understand the 5 star reviews! Our time with Eva (it was just the two of us) felt like visiting a dear friend in their home. When Eva promises a “food coma” she delivers. We had a tour that included numerous good stops, some history, and many laughs. After numerous samples from unique spots we sat down for dinner! I am still thinking about the fava dip and dakos salad. The pace was good and Eva was just delightful. You won’t be sorry and after hearing about other tours we are so glad our time was with Eva, the woman from the village😘

Wonderful walking tour with our guide, Eva. We went thru Plaka, Monasteraki & Acropolis areas, tasting, touring & learning along the way. The tour culminated with a delicious traditional meal at a restaurant we never would have found on our own. Appropriate for children-ours loved the loukoumades shop! Literally the BEST tour ever! This is way more than a food tour! You walk around beautiful Athens, learn some history, mythology stories, see some "grafitti" which you learn is truly amazing art work, visit some beautiful spots for photos, eat a LOT of food and best of all you have lots of laughs and get treated like family! Eva is the best and if I had to recommend 1 tour in Athens this would be It! This is truely Eva's passion and the amount of love she puts into her tours is amazing!

Eva was very warm and personable. The tour takes you through the different major parts of Athens where you get to stop at delicious local joints, while having fun with Eva and the rest of the small group you may be with. I was surprised by the amount of food (there is a dinner at the end) as other food tours I have been on only give you a small taste of 4-6places and that is it. A truly great experience.

My son and I had an absolutely wonderful time on our Estia food tour! Eva was an amazing guide and took us to some of the best places to eat traditional foods in a city of good restaurants. She gave excellent recommendations for other places to eat in other parts of the city as well. Eva explained the cultural significance of a lot of the food and the upcoming Easter holiday. This was, by far, the best food tour I have taken and I would highly recommend it if you will be in Athens. I also recommend that you arrive hungry because you will get A LOT of wonderful food! My 14-year old is still talking about all of the food he loved and how much fun Eva was! It was truly a highlight of our trip.

Eva’s food tour is very good. A nice combination of walking the city and seeing some Athens neighborhoods, eating, and a bit of drinking. Eva is very personable, fun, and very funny. She is knowledgeable about the Athens food scene and restaurants and Greek food. You get to try some traditional Greek foods, but also some that you would probably not think or know to try if you were ordering from a menu on your own. And after trying lots of different Greek foods, there is a separate sit-down dinner of Greek food and wine that you share with Eva. We would highly recommend taking her tour if you are in Athens. And Eva is Greek so you are getting an insider’s view of the city and the food - with cooking tips that she shares from her momma.

This was the best food tour we have ever done! Eva was a great guide. We took the evening tour and are glad we did not eat lunch. We sampled sweets, cheeses, nuts, wine, and so much more. We had 11 stops, then sat done to a traditional Greek meal! Eva was knowledgeable and loves her city! We now have a friend in Athens and will visit again!
