Meeting place was very vague. GPS took us to two very different locations. Eventually met up with group at first location. Otherwise, Anna was passionate, kind and very knowledgeable about Athens history of cuisine. This was the second excursion/tours out of nine in Athens, Mykonos, Bodrum Turkey, Santorini, Crete, Olympia & Rome. But this was by far our favorite tour, because of Anna. At the end of our tour, Anna easily became part of our family. It was hard to say goodbye. Love Anna!!!

By the end of the tour, you’ll have enjoyed the equivalent of a full meal, experiencing the rich variety and hospitality that make Greek cuisine so memorable. Please note that tastings may vary depending on the season and the availability of our trusted local partners.
We will begin your culinary journey in Omonia, one of Athens’ most vibrant areas, where the city’s energy is on full display. As we explore the surrounding streets, you’ll see everyday Athenian life unfold — traditional shops, long-standing cafés, spice stores, and small family-run businesses that have shaped the neighborhood’s character for decades. At lunch, we’ll pause at a beloved local spot to enjoy a true Greek classic: thick, creamy Greek yogurt topped with golden honey and crunchy walnuts. Simple yet deeply rooted in tradition, this timeless combination highlights the purity and richness of Greece’s dairy heritage. In the evening, we’ll step into a local aperitivo venue frequented by Athenians to unwind after work. Here, you’ll savor a selection of regional bites paired with traditional drinks, discovering how modern Athenian social life blends long-standing flavors with contemporary flair.
Located in the heart of Athens, Athinas is one of the city’s most vibrant and characterful neighborhoods, where neoclassical buildings meet street art, artisan workshops, and lively tavernas. Once a craftsmen’s district, today it blends tradition with creative energy, offering an authentic glimpse into contemporary Athenian life. During our morning tour, we’ll pause here to enjoy a beloved Greek sweet: freshly made loukoumades. Served warm and golden, these crispy dough bites are drizzled with honey and sprinkled with cinnamon or nuts — a timeless treat that fills the air with irresistible aroma. In the evening, we visit the area savor an alternative classic favorite: bougatsa. This delicate pastry, layered with crisp phyllo and filled with creamy custard or savory cheese, is dusted with powdered sugar or enjoyed warm and flaky — the perfect way to experience Athens’ comforting street-food traditions from morning to night.
We’ll continue morning tour in the heart of Athens’ central market area, a bustling hub where locals shop for fresh produce, fish, and specialty ingredients. The vibrant stalls overflow with colorful fruits, aromatic herbs, and traditional Greek products, offering an authentic taste of everyday Athenian life. Here, we’ll step into a charming local shop to savor two Greek essentials: high-quality olive oil and/or a variety of olives. You’ll taste their rich flavors and learn about the traditions behind these iconic ingredients, discovering why they are at the heart of Greek cuisine. *Please note that this stop is only available in the morning.
Later, we’ll head to the lively Psirri neighborhood, where historic streets are filled with artisan shops, cafés, and street art, reflecting the vibrant spirit of Athens. Here, you’ll have the chance to try a classic Athenian street snack: koulouri, a sesame-crusted bread ring that’s crisp on the outside and soft inside, often enjoyed fresh from local vendors. This simple yet iconic treat offers a true taste of everyday life in the city, perfectly complementing your experience.
Next, we’ll make our way to the charming area around Monastiraki, a bustling square where ancient ruins, flea markets, and lively streets converge. Here, the aromas of freshly baked pastries and savory delights fill the air. You’ll pause at a local eatery to savor a warm, freshly made pita, filled with classic Greek ingredients, paired with a refreshing glass of local wine or beer. This stop perfectly captures the relaxed, convivial spirit of Athens, letting you enjoy both the flavors and the atmosphere of one of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods.

Our tour guide, Lisa made the experience worthwhile, introducing the types of food available in Greece, but the places we went to were "meh". We started out in Omonia square, late in the day (for a dinner-time food tour). I feel like we visited more of the worst parts of Athens - the meat/seafood market was SO smelly, I lost my appetite to eat anything. (Our guide did ask us if we wanted to go through the empty-end of the day market). There were some nice parts, which were refreshing to tour, but overall, the experience took the "shine" off of visiting Greece.
Fantastic introduction to the Athens food scene with an experienced local guide. Lots of treats along the way including local food, beer and wine. A perfect start to a trip to Athens. Our guide, Anna was awesome 👍
We wanted the Greek food experience and Anna did not disappoint. We were a group of 12 and our guide, Anna, was highly skilled, knowledgeable, and organized. She made the entire experience exciting and fun. . We visited several local Greek establishments and Anna made sure each and every one of us was taken care of. My family was very happy with her. Highly recommend this tour!

From the very beginning, she knew how to share her passion for Greek cuisine and her love for her city with us. As the perfect host, she introduced us to the local flavors while also sharing fascinating insights about the city. She gave us the opportunity to discover the soul of Athens through its local dishes and products, with stops at some truly iconic places. It was an absolutely delightful experience that will remain a wonderful memory. Thank you once again to the generous Anna for this unforgettable experience!

Lisa was such a pleasure! While she shared with us some of her favorite foods off the beaten path, she also informed us about the surrounding neighborhoods. Highly recommended.

We spent some time in Athens on our honeymoon and booked this food tour and it did not disappoint! Lisa was an amazing guide and answered all of our questions. We left feeling like we got an amazing and unique perspective of the city that we wouldn’t have gotten if we tried to explore the areas on our own. All of the food was amazing, we would recommend this to anyone!! Thank you Lisa!
We had a very interesting morning on the tour. Lisa took us round markets and food stores where we tried lots of the delicious local foods and were told about the areas and history.
So much fun seeing parts of Athens, off the beaten path! Anna was a great guide for us. Lots of variety of tastings, and lots of history to go with it! I needed translation help buying family gifts and Anna knew right where to take us for what I wanted.

We had the most incredible time with Lisa Papadopoulos and Katherina! Wow wow wow - if you want a local experience with your greek friend from long ago, this is the one. Informal, story telling, history about the most beautiful shops. Food we wouldn’t have tasted otherwise. It was such good value for money. This is a MUST do!!! Thank you Lisa!!!
Amazing sampling of Greek foods! We left very full and tried so many things. Our guide was very knowledgeable.
This was a really good experience walking around with the guide Lisa. I booked for me and my family, and even though two of us lives in Athens, I can highly recommend it! Lisa had great knowledge about Athens and the history about the restaurants/cafes, and made it interesting for the whole family! Really good value for money!
A great way to spend a few hours in Athens! Our guide was Lisa and she was fantastic. Easy going and personable with a great range of knowledge. Got to try many different foods, while staying off the main tourist trail. Highly recommend!

We had na amazing experience With Despina! She took us to a lot of places to eat authentic foods from Greece, we loved all!
It was only the two of us, we were really happy that the tour still ran with us being the only booking. Anna, our guide, was lovely and informative. She made us feel at ease right away and gave us some great tips for the rest of our stay.
This 3-hour food tour was the highlight of our trip to Athens. Walking through Omonia, Monastiraki, and Psirri while tasting authentic Greek dishes was the perfect way to experience the city. The Greek yogurt with honey was unbelievably creamy, and the loukoumades were warm and perfectly crisp. Our guide shared fascinating stories about Greek culinary traditions that added so much depth to the experience.
We did the morning tour and loved every stop. From the rich olive oil and olives to the freshly baked koulouri, everything tasted fresh and authentic. The savory pita paired with local wine was a standout. Our guide explained the cultural significance behind each dish, which made the experience much more meaningful than just a tasting tour.
Really great experience. Anna was our guide and told us about Athens from Aalea and took us to cozy restaurants. She really knows a lot about it and was super nice.
We had the pleasure of taking the gastronomic tour with Anna. As we walked through the city and made stops, she told us details about the city and the different neighborhoods. We started with a honey tasting, continued with savory steps, and before finishing, we ate the classic and delicious gyro. Thank you, Anna, for telling us about your history and for being interested in our history and culture.
It was a very good experience. We were delayed (an airline ticket problem) and a guide waited for us. Ana the guide is extraordinary, giving facts and information not only about gastronomy but also about the places we were passing through. Ana dedicated time to each of the family members. The tour was in English and although 2 of the 4 family members don't speak it, Ana did it in such a way that we understood and enjoyed the tour. Ana, thank you very much.
Very bad, the female guide was only busy with her diet and her personal trainer. It was like a running race and we dropped out prematurely
We had a very nice evening with our guide Lisa, who showed us nice places and could tell a lot about the Greek customs. The food was delicious and extensive. Highly recommended!
