Would strongly recommend this experience. We went as a family (teenagers included) and all of us thoroughly enjoyed it. It was fun and educational. And the wine and food at the end was amazing. We felt well looked after during the whole experience and have a little of Greece to take home. Book it! Honestly, it's worth the money.

We had a great chef who thoroughly explained the historical background of every dish and was super involved and enthusiastic. I forgot his name, but I’d like to thank him for such an amazing time. He’s hilarious and has welcoming energy. Good music and interactive with participants
Loved the market tour. We enjoyed the hands on aspect of making our dinner. The selection of dishes was excellent and The Greek Kitchen did a marvelous job of accommodating different food preferences. Kirk was fun and engaging and well supported by his assistants. All in all, a very fun way to spend an evening in Athens.
This was both a delicious and fun way to spend a few hours. The instructor, Vasia, was very witty and knowledgeable. Everything ran very smoothly, we learned a lot while slicing, dicing, and drinking wine, and the group in general was full of interesting and friendly people. Top that off with a delicious traditional Greek dinner and we were very happy. Most enjoyable!
The class is fun, educational, and delicious. The instructor makes cooking easy even for a novice student.
Although the weather did not provide an opportunity to visit the market, we had a wonderful entertaining, conducive and delectable experience.
We enjoyed every aspect of the cooking class, from visiting the market, to preparing the 5 dishes, and enjoying a meal with new friends.
Great fun with the family. Great group and we all enjoyed the food and wine. Dessert was fantastic! Orange cake was awesome.
One of our favorite cooking classes we’ve ever done! Everything was delicious and instructions were easy to follow.
We had a wonderfully experience. Kirk taught us about Greek Cuisine all while connecting with and entertaining the group. food was delicious!
Kirk was great - slightly sarcastic in a fun way. Kept us on our toes.
This was a very enjoyable cooking class. We were taken through the process of creating 5 dishes. Everyone was allocated a task to complete in preparing the food, which gave some hands on experience. There was a visit to a local market to buy produce. When meal was completed we sat and enjoyed the fruits of our labour, with local wine included. The chef Thanassi was very good and explained everything well. It was well worth the effort. Book this one with confidence.
The class was a little hard for us to find, but we finally did! The instructor was great, he took us to the fresh air market. The meat side was fascinating. Didn't smell at all. Lots and lots of animals on the chopping block there! The seafood market didn't really smell like stinky fish, and no flies either. The fresh fruit, vegetables and fresh bread were lovely. The colors were outstanding. Olives forever! And delicious too! The instructor... He (who's name I can't say and now don't remember) was awesome. He explained everything and made it such a fun class. It was great! The food we prepared was awesome. Spanikopita, stuffed grape leaves (which I normally don't like), stuffed eggplants with tomatoes and fresh feta and tazikki. Made everything seem so easy. Such a fun day. We (my 2 girl friends and I) really really enjoyed it. You should go if you get a chance. Well worth it!
So much fun! We loved going to the market first. Thanasis was wonderful. He not only coached us with cooking techniques, he also gave a lot of interesting information about the regions of Greece and where foods originate. Everything was delicious! We had a wonderful time with the other members of the group. Well worth it!
loads of fun and we learned a lot too. come hungry! we made dolmates, spinokokita, stuffed eggplant, tzatziki sauce, and an orange filo cake.
We went through several markets to pick up ingredients for our cooking. We all shared in the making of several dishes. Our chef was fantastic. Knowledgeable, funny and friendly. We then got to eat everything we made. There was an abundance of food, plenty to take home with us. Such a wonderful experience. We are so glad we did this!
Lots of information about the origin of the food. How to make. Enjoyed the other guests input Chef is so knowledgeable and kind Made me feel like being welcomed into her own personal kitchen
It was a wonderful experience and extremely fun! We enjoyed both the learning and meeting other travelers who were also very excited by food. Might recommend looking up location on Google street view just to see where the entrance is ahead of time.
Vasia was entertaining funny involved all the patrons around the markets and rhe cooking class experience. Food was plentiful and tasty Dolmades, tzatziki, spanikopita, stuffed eggplants were made and consumed along with an orange syrup cake as the final flourish.
This cooking class was a lot of fun. We learned about traditional Greek foods, experienced the central market and ate the delicious food we made. The instructor was excellent and funny! Highly recommend.
My husband and I had a great time during this cooking class. The walk through the market was very informative and a great way to start the class. The food was easy to prepare and delicious. We highly recommend taking this class for a beginner or an advanced cook.
What a fun filled afternoon we had learning to cook from a traditional Greek home cook Vasia, she made our afternoon lots of fun with her sidekick Maria, they are an amazing double act! Everyone was involved in each aspect of the cooking and it was very informative. Would highly recommend 👍
This cooking class was a fun little experience in Athens. The recipes were not too complicated, and the dishes we made were delicious. We really enjoyed the walk-through of the Plaka market at the beginning. And by the end, we found a new favorite dessert!
Kurt was informative, funny and very friendly. We walked through the market and he explained the different produce that was on display and explained their uses. The 3 hours went very quickly.
This was an amazingly class so worth the time! Chef made it fun and food was delicious and a lot of it
Overall, this was a great experience! We did this at the start of our trip to Greece and it was an incredible way to learn about and taste classic Greek food. It was also a good way to break up all the history of Athens.
Really great class, a lot of food to eat, cake was amazing Chef was fun and made it exciting Market tour was also good Definitely worth the money
Big shoutout to our cook, Vasia (V-A-S-I-A!!!) , whose dry sense of humour kept us all laughing. We were 7 family members of differing cooking abilities, yet even the most experienced learned something. The format is such that everyone could participate without feeling intimidated.
My friends and I always take cooking classes on our trips and this was super fun and interactive. This only downside was they need different wine. It was vinegary but everything else was fantastic
Valia was wonderful and the food was delicious! Had a great time! And there were three other solo travelers there too!
Fun experience and well worth the money. Highly recommend. Food was delicious and it was very informative.
We had a wonderful time at the cooking class. Antonia was funny, informative and we loved all of the recipes. The trip through the market was a great experience.
What am amazing experience we had with The Greek Kitchen Cooking class team. When we arrived, Antonia asked about food allergies. As a Celiac, I had expected to only have limited participation, but that couldn't be further from the reality. Not only was I able to fully participate, but they were extremely careful to ensure no cross contamination. The trip to the market was very informative, the cooking process was tons of fun and the food was amazing. We're looking forward to trying the recipes at home! Thank you Antonia and Stella for an amazing experience!!
Great tour of an authentic market. The instructor was great and there were only 6 of us in the class. I just might be able to make some of these recipes at home!
Fabulous afternoon - the best activity of my week in Athens. Kirk was great fun, the food we made was delicious and the camaraderie of the group was great. A truly memorable experience. Highly recommend.
It was a fabulous cooking class. We even made dessert. The tour of the market was fun and interesting. It is 4 hrs so we were a little tired leaving.
We had a fun time cooking! We enjoyed all the foods we made, it was a wonderful experience. They were very accommodating to us since we were about 10-15 minutes late due to taxi issues.
This was my favorite activity I've done in Athens. The market visit was informative, the instructor was incredibly knowledgeable & funny, and the dishes we learned how to make were delicious. Could not recommend this enough!!!
This was an excellent activity for the whole family (5 of us from age 18 to 85). Interesting tour of the food market followed by easy to follow cookery course and at the end a delicious meal we cooked ourselves. Kirk was a fantastic host full of information and tips, made us all very welcome. Highly recommended.
If you want to eat germ ridden food, cooked by people, rubbing their eyes and coughing definitely come to this class. You cook for everybody and everyone eats each other’s food. It was also extremely hot in there as one person fainted. My wife and I left early as we were not willing to eat the food because nobody was wearing gloves. Oh yeah - also we had to ask for the wine to be served…
Thomas was fun, energetic and knowledgeable. He made the whole experience wonderful. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone visiting Athens. Excelled to the market before starting to cook. The location was exactly where it was described on the website We made five different dishes and they were each so good.
What a wonderful experience. Learned a lot and had a lot of fun. Well worth doing.
Fantastic experience! Food was delicious and it was such a unique opportunity to see the market. Highly recommend!
This experience is one of our top 5 experiences in Europe.
Our home cook, Vasia, was knowlegeable, funny, and engaged the group to bond. The walk through the markets were fun, interesting and enlightening. The whole process was relaxing, culturally enveloping, and DELICIOUS. I appreciated that we didn't feel rushed and felt like we were cooking with family. We learned so much about the culture and learned more than just how to cook a variety of dishes. The freshness of each ingredient was apparent, especially since we saw the ingredients purchased in front of us. Being involved to create each dish made it taste even better. It was so worth the cost for our family of 4!
The team at The Greek Kitchen were welcoming and went above and beyond for their students. We started off with a bit of history during our tour through the market and this lesson transitioned into what to look for at the local markets. We purchased our ingredients and brought them back to the kitchen where our teachers guided us through 5 traditional Greek dishes. We walked away from this experience with a little more knowledge about Greece, a few staple recipes and a lots of full bellies. I recommend enrolling in this class during your stay in Athens.
absolutely amazing experience. i booked last minute as a solo attendee and had an absolute blast. the group was small and welcoming and the Chef/Teacher and Maria made the experience unforgettable. The food and wine was amazing, i learned many true greek cooking tips, and had plenty of leftovers to continue enjoying and share with friends. I cannot thank you enough Greek Kitchen Team. It was the best way to end my stay in athens!!
This was such a unique and amazing experience! Vasia and Maria were incredible and so hospitable towards us. Touring the local market in the morning before cooking was also such a treat as we got to see this part of the city come alive in. Seeing how fresh our ingredients were was such a treat before returning to the classroom to begin cooking. The cooking portion of the class was also so fun!! We had a group with various cooking abilities and everyone enjoyed the class! Being able to learn about the food we made and when it is traditionally made was such a nice experience and gave us much more appreciation for Greek cuisine. Everyone had so much fun making the dolmades, and was also really funny to see how competitive everyone got when rolling the spanakopita to see who could roll it without it busting. The imam bayildi was also such a delicious dish - even the carnivores in my group craved it even after the class. The tzatziki was so cool and delicious and was the perfect compliment to all of our dishes. And to top it all off we even made everyone in my group’s favorite dessert after trying it for the first time a few days prior to the class - portokalopita! It surprised us on how simple these dishes were and are so excited to try making these desserts at home! We all loved the class so much and are so appreciative of Vasia and Maria for making this such a wonderful experience for us as well as sharing their love of their culture and its food. We left with a much greater appreciation of the Greek people and their delicious cuisine.
Vasia was very knowledgeable and is an experienced cook. She gave us many helpful tips and tricks for the dishes we prepared. Plus she is hillarious!
Thanassis who leads the class is wonderful! He took us through the produce, meat and fish market which is very nearby. He pointed out his favorite stalls that he regularly shops from. We booked the 3 pm class so some of the stalls were already closed but many were open so you could get a feel for the market. Then we went back to the wonderful air conditioning and made 5 dishes - an eggplant dish (imam baidi), dolmadas, spinach pie, tzatziki and portokalopita (orange cake). Everyone was involved throughout the cooking.. Very yummy, lots of white wine or juice. I definitely recommend!
