Itinerary
The Acropolis is the most popular attraction in Athens. The site of the sanctuary has been inhabited since the Neolithic period but reached its greatness under the reconstruction program of Pericles in the mid-5th century BC. Many of its major temples, like the Parthenon and the Erechtheion, were then rebuilt in the form that we know today.
The Parthenon is the most famous one and the best preserved. The decorative marble and statues are considered to be some of the best examples of ancient Greek art. Over time, the facade as well as the function of the Acropolis changed tremendously, especially in the Byzantine and Ottoman periods.
New Acropolis Museum: The museum opened on June 20th 2009. Every year it welcomes ca. 2 million visitors due to its unique exhibits coming exclusively from the Acropolis area. It is situated 300 metres opposite from the Acropolis archeological site.
Herakleidon Museum is a private art museum in Athens. It was founded in 2004 and for 10 years its primary focus was on the fine arts hosting parallel various cultural happenings. The last years it has evolved in an interactive centre for popularized science based on the philosophy ‘Science, Art & Mathematics’.
Hellenic Motor Museum is located in a unique building in terms of architecture and design. Its exhibitions are dedicated to the evolution of the car and display more than 110 cars from the 19th and the 20th century.
Visit the Kotsanas Museum of Ancient Greek Technology in the heart of Athens, just a few steps from the Greek Parliament. On a total area of 700 square meters, you have the opportunity to get to know a relatively unknown aspect of ancient Greek culture. The exhibition includes around 100 selected exhibits which tell you more about the origins of technologies, from the robot-servant and the "cinema" of Philon to the automatic theater of Heron, and from the Hydraulic Clock of Ktesibios to the Antikythera Mechanism. Enjoy a hands-on experience on fully functional models and check out the museum gift shop where you may buy handmade models, copies of the museum exhibits made by Marios Kotsanas.
The Kotsanas Museum houses about 42 fully functional reconstructions of ancient Greek musical instruments and games. The museum is one of the most complete and authentic of its kind in the world. Some of the exhibits that can be admired are, for example, the helicon and the sixth string of Pythagoras, the lyre of Hermes, the magnificent guitar of Apollo, the Homeric phorminx, the harp of Sappho, the Ptolemaic helicon, the Pan flute. Don't miss to listen to the most ancient worldwide known song of Seikilos and get to know the “hydraulis of Ktesibios, the first keyboard instrument in the world. Also, don't forget to play with the Archimedes' (O)stomachion, the first puzzle in history and the Trias, the first tic- tac- toe game of history!
The Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum is one of the few of its kind in the world and the first to present Greek jewelry art. The museum focuses on silver and goldsmith art and contemporary studio jewelry. You will be presented with 50 collections designed and maintained by Ilias Lalaounis, the museum's founder. Ilias Lalaounis was a jeweller and artist and became world-famous for the creation of luxurious gold jewelry. The museum continues to enrich its collection with contemporary art jewelry by Greek and international artists.

Great service but very confusing routes and pick up locations. Not descriptions of all the different bus stops.
Word of wisdom: just follow the link provided to you. Your QR codes are located in there. Take a screenshot of all of them & send yourself a text message. Now, I wish I had more time to visit Athens! This tour pass allows you to do so much! This is best for anyone who desires to see the most of the city & its history. If you're worried about the crowds just realize that you're in a city with 4 million people. In the end, if you get this pass just make sure you & everyone with you has the physical & mental endurance to see & do the most within the days permitted that you paid for. The pass is worth the price based on everything you can do with it.
I wanted to buy tickets for attractions in Athens, such as the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. While searching online, a pop-up for the TurboPass Athens City Pass appeared. At first, I thought it was an official city or government tourism pass, so I purchased two, one for my husband and one for me. When I realized it was not an official pass, I immediately tried to cancel my order. I was told I would be charged a €30 cancellation fee per ticket, even though I had not yet received anything from them. Because of that, I decided to keep it. I selected a 9:00 a.m. entry time for the Acropolis and activated the audio guide included with the pass. On the day of our visit, after walking from our hotel to the Acropolis, I presented my QR code and discovered that my entry time had been changed to 12:00 p.m. without my knowledge. I was extremely frustrated because I had planned my day around the 9:00 a.m. entry, and I would never have chosen noon in the middle of the summer heat. I learned that choosing the time was pointless since they aren’t the ones assigning it to you. To make matters worse, I later found out that the audio guide they advertised as part of the pass is actually included with the standard €30 Acropolis ticket. I had paid over $100 USD for the pass. During our four-night stay in Athens, we used the pass for only three things: the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, and the hop-on, hop-off bus. The pass also includes attractions like the Museum of Illusions, but unless you have several extra days in Athens, I don’t think they’re worth sacrificing time that could be spent visiting the city’s historical sites. Even after four nights, we still didn’t have enough time to see everything we wanted. The hop-on, hop-off bus can be purchased separately for about €12, making it a much better value. Overall, I found the TurboPass Athens City Pass to be misleading, overpriced, and poor value for money. I would not recommend purchasing it.
Be sure to check details. Our Acropolis tour was to be at 9 am - changed from 11 am however QR code did not get chsnged so we had to wait two hours in the heat!
We booked a Turbo Pass on Big Bus through Viator and Trip Advisor which included 10 attractions and entry to the Acropolis all prepaid at $cdn 224.00. We received a confirmation and bar code with a confirmation number. We arrived for pickup and the bus company couldn’t find the booking and said we needed a QR code which had never been sent to us. A total ruined day of going to see the amazing Acropolis. We deserve a total refund but instead were totally ignored. Joe Krapiec. joekrapiec@gmail.com
Kosta was entertaining and very knowledgeable. The food was amazing. It was great to learn more about what we ate and where we ate it. Would fully recommend
I bought the turbopass thinking it was good value for money. However as my mum is disabled we couldn't access a lot of the acropolis site like slopes and had to cut out time there short due to rain. Then with the hop on /off tour the stop for the Rivera tour was changed last minute meaning we missed the 12:20 depart the day. So I ended up paying another €27 euro for a taxi to get to kavouri beach as other public transport wasn't accessible. Also if you're a disabled person then you can get free entry into the acropolis and museums. In the end if I'd known about free admission as a disabled person I would have only needed to pay for the hop on/off bus so I'd have only ended up paying about £255 in total in comparison to the £390 I paid for a 5 day pass for two people. Personally for our family it wasn't worth it - if you're abled bodied then yes it's probably more worth it but I wouldn't choose to buy it again.
Poor range of included attractions, only the Acropolis and Acropolis museum are worth anything. The hop on hop off bus is great but easy enough and cheaper to purchase at stops. Bought the add on 5 day travel option which was unusable, tried to get support but was ignored... The pass is complicated to use and poor value. We travel extensively and have used city passes all around Europe, this one is the only one to disappoint and frustrate. DONT BUY THIS PASS
We used Viator for several of our activities in Rome and Athens. It is not user friendly. Not at all. Instead of having your ticket in the app after purchasing, you actually receive an additional email letting you know you have to go somewhere else to validate your ticket. They do not make it easy to do this. It’s very confusing to find the meeting spot and it’s not marked. One time it was just a man standing outside a restaurant. Regarding my Athens experience, I did not thoroughly read the email that was sent after I purchased the ticket. Apparently I had to choose a time to go to Acropolis /the Parthenon. I didn’t do that and so the time was assigned to me early in the morning. We did not get off our cruise until that time and there was no way to make our appointment. Viator was not very accommodating and wouldn’t work with me. I end up having to buy another ticket on site. very frustrating. I will not be using Viator for of my trips going forward.
The Athens City Pass made our trip so much easier. Major attractions like the Acropolis and the hop-on hop-off bus were included, and having everything digital was super convenient. Just be sure to read the instructions carefully — some popular sites require advance reservations. With a bit of planning, everything went smoothly. Great customer support too! We’d definitely use it again.
The All Inclusive Pass made our city trip so much more relaxed! Of course, we had already thought about what we wanted to see beforehand and were therefore able to relax and decide when we wanted to go where. Some attractions should definitely be booked in advance, otherwise you have real problems getting in, but if you spread the booked things out over the days, you don't have any stress and can take an incredible experience. We have booked a City Pass with this provider before and would do it again at any time!
The pass included fast entry to the acropolis and worth it. Highly recommended the visit to the Acropolis Museum and thanks to the pass you can discover very interesting museums in Athens, Motor Museum or Technology Museum Kotsanas. The 2 days of hop in hop off bus are very helpful, you can enjoy the ride looking the monuments and listening explanations. I will buy again this pass for my next Athens trip.
This is not any reflection on any of the companies that were offering these tickets! We didn't buy this because as of the 1st April 2025, the combo tickets have been stopped by the Greek Government as they were losing money. We pre-booked all our tours that we wanted to do (Acropolis & Museum, Ancient Agora, Hadrians Library, Panathenaic stadium (absolutely awesome - go between 7.30am - 9.00am and you can round around the stadium), Byzantine Museum and the Temple of Zeus and it was about the same price as the combo ticket without the travel.
My wife and I are experienced travelers and have taken many tours with different companies. The Instructions for this tour did not work as advertised. My wife and I tried multiple times to follow very confusing instructions for converting voucher into tickets. We tried contacting VIATOR on Sunday morning when Acropolis ticket office could not help us (and they tried mightily). We bought replacement tickets at Acropolis ticket office and had a wonderful experience - with zero thanks to VIATOR. We then bought alternate tickets from different sources for the other sites advertised in this package. We will NEVER USE VIATOR AGAIN. We will tell everyone who asks NEVER USE VIATOR.
We had no difficulty using the pass, it was recognised everywhere (although we didn’t gave the public transport option). It would hiwever be more convenient if it could be added to Apple Wallet or similsr. It offers access to the main historic sites, but also includes some smaller museums which offer both interest and variety, eg the ancient technology museum, the motir museum and the museum of illusions. It would be better value if there were an option to buy it without the open top bus tour, since this really isn’t good value in a small, traffic jammed city like Athens.
The Athens City Pass provided the best experience. We saw all the attractions such as Acropolis, Agora, museums and so much more. No waiting in line or being turned away for entrance tickets. Hop on Hop off Bus which was close to our hotel provided all transportation we needed while in Athens. We downloaded and printed everything and carried the two sets of tickets with us and were accepted everywhere. We saved a lot of money with this pass. Viator will continue to be a go to travel service as we visit the USA and the world. Thanks Viator!
Incredibly misleading at best. A straight scam at worst. Most drivers, transit workers and guides don't even know what turbopass is. Nothing that was offered was legit. 1. There was no hop-on hop-off bus service that accepted or used turbopass. 2. The additional "public transport" ticket that you can pay for, which I did just in case, did not work and I had to buy a separate ticket for the metro and buses. 3. There were no services accepting turbopass which even went to the acropolis. 4. The acropolis ticket, the one thing that appeared legit, was rejected at the acropolis and I had to buy a second ticket there as well. When I contacted customer service to have them correct my ticket, they took 12 hours to respond. When I contacted them to ask for a refund, they responded within 2 minutes telling me to go f**k myself. Paraphrasing... Do NOT use Turbopass for anything. If you feel compelled to do so, do NOT rely on it.
The most memorable part of the tour was the Acropolis! We enjoyed exploring the site very much & would recommend this experience to everyone who plans to visit Athens. We did not like the lack of logistic info and felt that it should be forthcoming as to where to catch the hop on/off bus and what to look for. We also found it frustrating & confusing that the literature stated different times and days of used than what was initially understood. We were able to work through logistical problems and overall enjoy the tour.
This sounded like a great opportunity to see a lot of sites in Athens but I was nervous after seeing the negative reviews. I can say that I am glad that I did not pay attention to the negative reviews. My trip was the last week and a half in May. I purchased the 5-day Turbopass a week before we left and the email with the passes was sent within minutes for me to download. I read all of the documents and followed the requirement that I needed to go to the Acropolis first to start the pass for the other sites in the following days. I had no issue getting into the archeological sites or the museums and appreciated that with the Turbopass we did NOT need to wait on line to buy tickets then again wait in line to enter. I do not regret this purchase and would recommend the pass to others as well.
The Turbopass was a great decision for our city trip to Athens. Using it was uncomplicated, we were able to visit the most important attractions in a relaxed manner and didn't have to worry about entrance tickets on site anymore. Everything worked reliably and made our stay significantly more relaxed. We give it 5 stars for that!
Great pass and top time for Acropolis – I was even able to adjust my times up to 24 hours in advance via customer service. The digital passport is very practical, without much paper. Customer service is very friendly and helpful. Everything has its advantages, including audio guides that are perfect for getting to know the city. My tip: First explore the city with the hop-on hop-off and then visit the individual attractions in peace. Clear recommendation of the pass!
I bought Turbopass for Athens and used it for transport, the Acropolis, the Hop on Hop off bus, Acropolis museum and the Automobile museum. I decided to give 5 stars because I am confident that they will go to fix a couple of anomalies found. After my stay I pointed out these inefficiencies and was reimbursed for having to pay for admission to the Acropolis due to the failure to issue two pdf tickets. Otherwise very convenient at a price, at least for Athens, advantageous.
We were in Athens at the beginning of July and had the Turbopass – was fully worth it. Acropolis went in super fast, not a long line. Other sights such as Agora or the Acropolis Museum were also easy with it. The hop-on hop-off bus was worth real gold in the heat, even went to the port with it. Important: You have to read everything carefully beforehand and plan it a bit, otherwise it will be complicated. But when you do that, it's relaxed and you save yourself a lot of stress. Had a question once – Ann from support was mega helpful and super fast, thank you again for that! Would book again!
Super City Pass, automatically you see more than previously thought. Very pleasant that you get the top attraction Acropolis booked in advance and can therefore plan relaxed. Price / performance is great
I was in Athens with my girlfriend and we used the City Pass – definitely worth it! Acropolis & Co. were easy to access, and the hop-on hop-off bus was great for first glance. Important: Read the pass carefully beforehand and book the top attractions in advance. Not everything works spontaneously – we noticed firsthand. Big praise to the support: We were helped really quickly when we didn't know what to do. A huge thank you to Ann Christin, she was super friendly and made everything easy for us. 🙌 Conclusion: With a bit of preparation really great – we would definitely do it again!
We really enjoyed our trip to Athens and visited some attractions. Although we found it a pity that the Archaeological Site is not included, we could easily purchase tickets for this on site.
We used the Athens Turbopass in April and it was a great choice. It includes access to the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum, as well as several interesting museums such as the Kotsanas Technology Museum. The tour bus for 2 days was perfect to get around and get to know the city without stress. Everything is managed from a digital pass, very easy to use. Tip: read the directions well before the trip, especially the time of entry to the Acropolis. We would definitely buy it back.
The City Pass is really a great concept to discover Athens relaxed and organized. The price-performance ratio is excellent – and particularly practical: The Acropolis ticket was booked directly by Turbopass, so we didn't have to deal with it ourselves. Thanks to the pass, we saw much more of the city than we could have without. The hop-on hop-off bus tour was also included and a real highlight to get an overview quickly. We will definitely visit Athens again – next time with the island hopping option!
We had a great time in Athens. Probably April is also the perfect month to travel, the city is not yet too crowded and it is not yet too hot. We chose the Turbopass Athens because it includes everything for a great price we wanted to make. After booking, you will receive a digital link by email that will direct you to the digital City Pass. As a tip please go through this one completely, here again the Acropolis ticket is deposited and on it is the final entry time. This information was also in the product description that the ticket for the Acropolis can be entered between 08:00 and 14:00 Uhs. We then had entry at 11:00 that was perfect for us. The other attractions were super easy. You can find the info of the opening hours in the pass and you simply go to the cashier and show the QR code and you are in. Our conclusion: City break no longer without City Pass, you really see much more than if you have to commit to individual attractions in advance, and really saves. Tip: Take the time to read the pass well in advance.
Since I can't put zero... A scam by any measure. Public transport ticket to collect at the bottom of the TDCDM, not open on weekends... Arrived Saturday morning, tickets recovered Monday afternoon. So no use. Ticket attractions: some closed, others to pay because change of rules in Athens: the single ticket has been changed into several since April 1. And especially uninteresting attractions. If I had bought my tickets separately, I would have saved 1/3.
Very practical, but absolutely necessary: Read the instructions in great detail: if you receive two codes like me, you have to look carefully at which code is used for which attraction. It’s easy, but it can become a pain if you’re wrong – If you take with transport, like me, check that there are no school holidays. I paid for transportation, and I couldn't use it. And the office to pick up the transport ticket is quite hard to find. So overall, good experience and practical. But watch out for instructions!
. A fruitless and unnecessary expenditure of money. Buy a combined pass for 6 days. The cropolis had it washed out in the middle of the trip. It didn't work anywhere except the acropolis. According to the company before the acropolis it did not work because it was activated. At no time was it reported) the pass on the day of the acropolis and was later valid for the rest of places. I didn't. I lost the pass money and had to pay wn all the museums and sights. I wrote again and his reply was protocol.
