Athens By Night: Small Group Sightseeing With Drinks And Food Tasting

Maria’s cultural knowledge was outstanding and chose a wonderful progression of locations to give a taste of Athens and Greek food starting at Monisteraki Square. The wines were excellent, the cheeses and olives started us out and it only got better and better. Marie is so personable and has an easy way of storytelling and interaction. On a rainy night when she could have hurried our little group along, she never rushed. Ending the night at a beautiful rooftop bar with a view to the Acropolis was the cherry on top. This is definitely worth your time!

A walking food tour of Athens at night, led by Maria, was the best way to get to know Athens. Hearing the history of Athens, during a tour that started at a small wine bar and ended much later, after great Greek dessert, at a roof top bar. Maria was fabulous - knowledgeable, energetic, great company and fun to spend time with. Highly recommend both the tour and Maria as your guide!

The walking tour was a fun and informative way to see different parts of Athens. Maria was very knowledgable. I suggest doing the tour on the early end of your visit.

This tour was amazing. It was perfect for our first night in Athens. Maria took us all over Plaka and Monastiraki and showed us great places to shop and recommended tons of out-of-the-way local places to eat during our stay. We stopped at a cute wine bar for cheese, olives, and wine, then to a great gyros spot, got Greek donuts for dessert, and finally stopped at a lovely rooftop bar for a cocktail. The pace was perfect and Maria even gifted us a song with some street musicians. She was very friendly and even helped me find some of those olives after I got home. It was a memorable experience and I'm very glad we did it, especially on our first night.

Our tour guide Maria Ketikidou was amazing! She was right on time to meet us at the meeting location. We actually got started a few minutes early and she was extremely knowledgeable. It was our very first day in Athens, so she gave us a lot of great recommendations for the rest of our trip as far as places to eat and things to see. She got some pictures for us and was very personable. The food and drinks were amazing and we got to try things we would’ve never done. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with her and would not hesitate to book another tour with her again when we go back.

Maria was the absolut best Guide we ever had. She is a heartwarming guide who loves her job and makes the tour feel like a close friend showing us around the city. It was a perfect mix of walking around, sightseeing and drinking and eating in delicious local bars and restaurants. Panos was great! There was 7 of us so it was only us on the tour. He answered any questions we came up with. Definitely had plenty of food! By the end we couldn't eat anymore.

A bit disappointed. I have done drinks and food tours in other cities and this wasn’t at all what I’ve experienced in the past. A lot of waiting when we arrived at a restaurant. When tour was finished we went looking for somewhere to get some food!

Like other reviews have mentioned, do this drink-forward walking tour on the first night in Athens if you can. It is a great way to see the night life in a few cool neighborhoods. We had so much great food as well (that pizza boat is life) and actually revisited some of the spots when we returned to Athens in the later part of our trip. Eirini made a world of a difference for the tour. She's a cool vibes girl who also gave us recommendations to see the "new" in Athens (man oh man did we enjoy the Former Public Tobacco Factory exhibition). Such an amazing tour and incredible way to experience Athens like a local. Our guide was Eirin and I truly believe she made the difference! We met in the Monastiraki square, a vibrant area especially by night. Be sure to note the exact location, we were a bit off to the side however Eirin went out of her way to find us and immediately made us feel comfortable. We had 4 stops with a very nice amount of time at each. We tasted amazing foods and drank very well all the while connecting and getting great insights. We were so thankful to have had the opportunity and felt that this was truly one of the highlights for our trip. I highly recommend this as an excursion and make sure you bring your appetite and I guarantee you will feel as we did!

Highly recommend this tour and especially with Eirini. This was by far the highlight for our trip. What is better than getting a chance to try out the best food spots with a local. We would have never found any of the places we’d visited whilst on the tour had it not been for us booking this excursion. Eirini did a great job making our experience unique and comfortable and we had plenty of time at each stop to sample plenty of amazing cuisine and drinks as well as to see the neighborhoods by night. Definitely bring your appetite and don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity!

This was one of our favorite tours in greece! We were the only ones on it so got to get to know our guide really well (however i know i will still butcher her name! - Dorelli?) We got to try local foods, wine and beer! A really great time :)

We ordered a food and drink tour, luckily we were alone, we had a great experience with our guide! She was professional, showed us around all special places, had good food and drinks, and a lot of laughing.

Irene gave us a wonderful introduction to Athens. Very fun streets and neighborhoods that we wouldn’t have found on our own, with a range of food and drink from beer to ouzo to rooftop cocktails. Very fun!

Irene was a wonderful tour guide! We went to various different places to try foods and drinks. The food and drinks were amazing! The tour helped me also learn faster different areas of Athens. She was knowledgeable and the experience overall to start my first night in Athens was excellent!

We were introduced to areas of Athens a normal tourist would not see. And the food! And the wine! Our tour guide was great and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. There were the 2 of us and 2 ladies (a mom and adult daughter) so it felt like a group of friends out for a fun evening!

This was our first trip to Athens. We met Irina at the exact spot where she said we would find her (this is important to us, being in a foreign country). There were only 2 more people on the tour so it was very cozy. We felt like a group of friends. Irina introduced us to the Monastiraki area. We tried many different foods and ended at the top of a hotel with a view of the Parthenon at night (lit up). The best part of this (hard to truly say what was the best part) is that the next night, we knew where to go to find dinner. We went back to one of the places Irina had taken us to - Cinque. Excellent dried meats and fabulous cheeses. The wine was excellent as well.

My first full evening in Athens was a wonderful introduction to Athenian night life and cuisine. Thanks to the very accomplished Eirin, my guide, and her knowledge and connections, I enjoyed relaxed and informative conversation as well as fine wines, charcuterie, Greek “boat pizza,” creative cocktails, as well as pastry and Turkish coffee. As important as the food was Eirin’s knowledge of it and of our surroundings. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who cares to have an enjoyable and effortless introduction to some of the best in Athenian nightlife.

I recently did a solo trip to Athens, and one of the highlights of my trip has to be the Athens by Night tour with Eirin. While I visited Athens for its history, that evening, Eirin was able to reveal the contemporary Athenian life to me. Her knowledge of the city, and of the best hounds for amazing authentic Greek food and drinks, was so helpful in understanding the city beyond being a general tourist. She is super professional but after a while it really felt like I was out that night with new friends. It really made my solo trip a lot sweeter. And I highly recommend that everyone coming to Athens for the first time, book this tour on their first night, so they have a good insight into the non-touristy authentic corners of this fabulous city.

I must agree with fellow reviewers that this is a great choice for one of your first couple nights in Athens. My boyfriend and I took this tour on our first night and it was an awesome introduction to the city by a local. We had so much fun and would both highly recommend this tour! Our guide Eirini was a very knowledgeable and funny host. Everyone in town seemed to know her. She took us to places that we would have never discovered otherwise. She was very gracious and even took the time to type-out personalized lists and recommendations of places for us to check out later on in our trip. This was an awesome bonus. The amount of food and drinks you get along the tour are totally worth it. We left the tour with full bellies and a good buzz. Overall, if you are looking for a good time and an authentic local experience, then this is the tour for you!

The food tour was fantastic! Our host ( Eirini) was absolutely amazing and help us with everything. She is very knowledgeable and could also be considered a historian with her detailed knowledge! Just perfect!!! Highly recommend!

Highly recommend the Athens by Night walking tour!! Our guide Eirini was absolutely wonderful. Such a beautiful personality, she was very informative with her local knowledge. We went to some great little places I wouldn’t normally have gone on my own and had such an amazing time at all venues! Each being different to the next. Tasting lovely wines, eating delicious food, cocktails and more!! Being a solo traveller, I was quite hesitant on venturing out on my own especially at night. This tour made me realise how amazing Athens was by night and Eirini made my feel so comfortable with wanting to venture out on my own after. Just hours after arriving in Athens, this tour was our first vacation activity. We had had a very good experience. Our guide Dorela'q was knowledgeable, friendly and took us to a good variety of places to eat and drink. We started at a local place and ate a flat bread with pork and vegetables and a small honey cookie treat. Next onto a small wine place and a platter with delicious greek food samplings. We enjoyed chatting with the other tour folks. We moved on to a local hotspot for drinks. We tried Ouzo and Greek beers. The tour wraps up after an excellent round of drinks at a rooftop restaurant that has a commanding view of the Acropolis in the summer night. Our host shared helpful information about the area, and for our time in Athens. She also kept us safe and together, even though we were the slowest walkers of our group. This was a really good way for us to start our first visit.

After traveling all night and spending the day touring the city, I was initially hesitant about my plans for a late evening out. My adult daughters and I met Irene, and one other traveler at Monastiraki Square. We visited a small cafe, an eclectic bar in Psiri, wine tasting at a wine bar, and finished at a rooftop bar overlooking the Acropolis at night. We tried a variety of different food at each location including an amazing platter of cheese, meats, figs, nuts, and breads, while tasting local wines. Irene was made it so fun for the girls and I, as she was outgoing, knowledgable, and interactive. I enjoyed the company as much as the food and drink, and also enjoyed getting a tour of the neighborhoods/squares around Athens as we walked from place to place. So glad we rallied and stayed up for this!

I liked the neighborhoods. The tour guide was fun. The food was so-so. The tour guide should return us to the starting point, as at 1 a.m. I didn't want to walk alone through the city.

I was in Athens for two nights on my own and wanted to meet others and explore the city. Its not the cheapest tour but I definitely felt it was value for money. I met our guide Irene and the three other travellers at Monastiraki Square. We were taken through the streets of Psiri and tried a variety of different food and drinks. We started at Feyrouz for a selection of peinirli (like Turkish pide) which gave us a filling start before going on to a very cool bar. Next was a bar specialising in Greek wine for some tastings of wines, meats and cheeses. Finally we finished with cocktails on the fashionable hotel roof terrace overlooking the Acropolis. Irene was very warm, welcoming & informative throughout. We were out for about three hours or so. It's the first time I've done an organised tour of this sort and would definitely do it again.

We did this tour with Irene the night we arrived in Athens. It was delightful interesting and a great way to get an idea about the city. You eat lots of great food and try and very fun drinks. A terrific night out

I met my Guide Eirini at the Monastiraki Square, a real sympatic insider of the city. Together, we had an amazing and unforgettable evening through the magical nightlife of Athen.She showed me places, you wouldn't find as an normal tourist and she told me a lot about parts of our tour,the culture and history- quite interesting!We tried very delicious, high quality food and drinks at 3 different bars-one prettier than the other! We had the best experience with our guide Anabelia, she's full of energy and deep knowledge. Super friendly and attentive. We did this tour the first night we arrived to Greece, and we were super amazed to discover the hidden places and non touristy areas of the city. Super recommend, a must do, great experience.

We met Theo and the others in our small group and off we went to our first stop. Along the way Theo provided information about the history of the area. All 3 spots included food and local drinks. The final spot being a roof top bar overlooking the Acropolis.
