Itinerary
Your tour begins at the iconic Greek Parliament, where you'll witness the impressive Changing of the Guard ceremony at Syntagma Square. Your host will share insights into the history and symbolism behind the Evzones' traditional uniform, the significance of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the role of the Greek Parliament in the country's political landscape.
Next, we’ll stroll through the charming streets of Plaka, the oldest neighborhood in Athens. Your host will guide you to the grand Metropolitan Cathedral and the historic Small Mitropolis, before exploring the lively heart of Plaka. As we walk along Tripodon Street, the oldest in Europe, you’ll discover the impressive Lysicrates Monument and hear stories of its connection to ancient theatrical competitions.
From Plaka, we’ll ascend into the hidden gem of Anafiotika, a picturesque neighborhood that feels like a Greek island within the city. With its whitewashed houses, narrow alleys, and blooming bougainvillea, this charming area offers a peaceful escape. As we reach the top, you'll be rewarded with a stunning panoramic view of Athens, showcasing its historic landmarks and vibrant cityscape.
Next, we’ll walk around the Ancient Agora, once the vibrant center of political and social life in ancient Athens. From our route, you'll have a perfect view of the magnificent Temple of Hephaestus, one of the best-preserved temples of antiquity, and the impressive Stoa of Attalus. As we explore, you'll also enjoy stunning views of the Acropolis rising majestically above the city.
After an incredible journey through history, it's time to relax and enjoy a delicious dinner at a fantastic restaurant. Here, you'll savor authentic Greek cuisine, made with fresh, local ingredients, and experience the true flavors of Greece in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Our next stop is Monastiraki, one of the most vibrant and historic squares in Athens. Here, you'll see the Tzistarakis Mosque, a remnant of the Ottoman era, and catch a glimpse of the ancient Iridanus River, which once flowed through the heart of the city. As night falls, you'll experience the lively atmosphere of Monastiraki, where bustling cafes, street performers, and illuminated landmarks bring Athens to life.
From Monastiraki, we continue to Hadrian’s Library, an impressive Roman-era structure built by Emperor Hadrian in 132 AD. Your host will explain its historical significance as a center of learning and philosophy in ancient Athens. As we admire its grand columns and ancient ruins, you’ll get a glimpse into the city’s rich past.
Next, we make our way to the Roman Agora, a marketplace built during the Roman era that became a key commercial and social hub of ancient Athens. Here, you'll see the striking Gate of Athena Archegetis and the famous Tower of the Winds, an ancient timekeeping marvel. As we walk past these ruins, your host will share stories of how this area once bustled with merchants, philosophers, and everyday Athenians.

Nicolas was excellent. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend him to anyone interested in this excursion. He rearranged schedule so we could stop at a coffee bar.
Lots of walking!!!!! Worth it!!! Some shopping time would have been nice.. Fantastic guide Nicklaus.
Nikolas our tour guide was very polite, professional, knowledgeable we recommend to any tours, dining at the restaurant was a highlight, Athens is a beautiful city at night
Wonderful way to spend an evening in Athens. Our guide, George, was very knowledgeable and accommodating. A great experience!
Nikolas was a fantastic tour guide. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. The history provided was just enough to give us a true feel of the city and its deep significance in the world. The restaurant experience was equally as well thought out providing us with the best authentic Greek food and more conversation with a super kind and welcoming guide. He said he had only been doing the tours for a little over a month and you could tell he had found his calling. Cannot say more great things about this experience!
What a great introduction to old Athens. Our guide, Katerina was so knowledgeable, passionate about Athens and so friendly. It was a superb experience
Different perspective on Athens compared to regular daytime tour. Visited interesting neighbourhoods as well as tourist sights. Small group and excellent three course meal at local restaurant. Relaxed, informative and great value. Time well spent .Highly recommended.
Wonderful informative evening walking tour. Nikolas was great, we had a great time. Comfortable walking shoes are a must. Started with the changing of the guard at Syntagma Square and ended with a delicious dinner. It was menu choices, plenty to choose from, not a set menu which is nice. Communication prior to the tour with the guide was helpful, clearly indicated meeting place.
Beautiful sites at night! The guide provided excellent information and stories to bring the ancient sights to life! Wear comfortable shoes and be ready to walk! It was great
We covered a lot of ground with this walking tour but our guide, George, was very considerate and was constantly checking that we were not tired or struggling with the terrain. Being an archeologist George was able to provide an excellent commentary on Ancient Greece whilst as a young citizen could also impart his knowledge of Athens and its diverse districts. We visited areas we would not have found as tourists. George’s recommendations at the restaurant (final stop) conveyed a genuine love of Greek food and culture. Highly recommended.
There was a lot of walking, but our guide was extremely knowledgeable with history and mythology. We had a great 2 hour walk and a remarkable dinner. My husband and I are in our 80’s and it was a bit strenuous but all in all enjoyed it! Amazing views and memories!
The tour was NOTHING like it was described. My sister and I were the only 2 people on the tour, it began where stated but did not end where it was said it would. We did not feel safe and the cost was nearly $300 US dollars. After more than 2.5 hours of walking in the near dark, we were taken to an unfamiliar neighborhood and directed to sit at a restaurant that did not look particularly appetizing and did not have many others dining there. We were then informed that we could only order from one or two appetizers and entrees and weren’t able to order drinks even though the tour description said they were included. We were also warned by our tour guide that the portions were “very large” and that he recommended taking leftovers even though we had no access to a kitchen. We felt very uncomfortable and decided not to stay for any “dinner.” Our guide did not even offer to help us get a cab. We waited for more than 20 minutes and then got a driver that did not speak or would not speak English.
Our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and shared a lot of history with the group and excellent photo stops. Only negative was the amount of food. It is expected there will be so much everyone will need to take some to go; however if staying at hotel not practical so a fair bit of waste. Excellent food just too much.
Fantastic and knowledgeable view of the many ruins and historical streets/buildings/churches surrounding the acropolis. Our guide George was extremely fun, sociable and a wealth of knowledge of the area/history (and also of movies). And yes we saw the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier outside the Greece parliament. As you are walking, the views of the acropolis are amazing as it is lit up at night.
Our tour guide Joana was very knowledgeable. She showed us places we never would have found on our own. Then we got to eat a fabulous meal together. Definitely a highlight of our first trip to Athens!!
There are a lot of steps and walking but it is well worth it, in seeing and finding out so much about the history of Athens. Our guide George was 1st class with his information and had a great personality. After seeing so much of Athens that we hadn’t seen previously, particularly the area at the base of the Acropolis, then having it followed by a perfect Greek dinner in a local restaurant made it a 1st class tour.
Great excursion! Nicholas was knowledgeable and fun. It was a great pace and Nicholas made sure everyone was hydrated & having fun!
The evening tour of Athens was wonderful and our guide, Eva, made it special. She was very knowledgeable! We’d do it again if we have the opportunity! Thank you!
What a lovely evening exploring Athens with a different perspective at every turn. I wouldn't have had it any other way!
This was an excellent tour. Waling the streets of Athens in the early evening and night time was very enjoyable. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and maintained the perfect walking pace for our group. Dinner was enjoyable and delicious. Sue and Blake
We had a private tour with Theo, who was phenomenal! We were given SO much information all along our walk - about the things we saw and Greek culture itself. Our discussions were very enjoyable and Theo was very fun to be with. We had dinner together and he helped us pick some great things to try. We LOVED the Sfakiani Pie! Theo was entertaining and knowledgeable, we saw and learned about amazing things that we wouldn't have seen otherwise and dinner was fantastic. I highly recommend you do this Evening Walk!
Nice walking through the city streets. You see sites you would never have seen walking it yourself..
This was a fabulous fabulous trip and I’m writing on behalf of my friend Heather and myself. We are native New Yorkers and expect a lot… We are so sorry not to remember the Tours Guide’s name but he was beyond fabulous! You can tell he loved what he did and in turn we loved what he was sharing with us . It was the highlight of our trip to Athens and you’re very lucky to have him!
Our guide, Mirta, was amazing, very friendly and informative. We saw many different sites, learned a lot, loved the changing of the guards. Dinner was absolutely delicious.
This is by far the best tour we have ever done! Our guide Nikolas was excellent. His knowledge and interest in Athens, modern and ancient was incredible. He shared such interesting insights, stories, mythology and was well paced. Took us to places we didn’t know existed !! A definite must do!
Nicolas was great! Really good tour :) Was one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommended for food and wonderful information.
Extremely well thought out tour of the best and hidden parts of Athens. Beautiful mix of ancient and current city life topped off with a beautiful meal. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
Athens is beautiful at sunset and Chrisa did a great job showing us the city sights. The walk was well paced the small group size made it more pleasant and friendly. Dinner was very good and the restaurant was able to easily accommodate my Gluten free requirements. Thank you for a fantastic evening!
This experience was nothing short of amazing! Chrissa and Nicholas were so knowledgeable and also extremely friendly hosts. The places they took us were spectacular, especially at night. The small neighborhood (Anafi) we walked through behind the Acropolis was the highlight for us, and you would not get this on other tours. The dinner was amazing as well! Very well put together tour!
Georgia was terrific. Overall this was a great experience. The only suggestion is the food. The food was very good. If you want to limit what a guest can order. Maybe provide a separate menu
We had a wonderful time on this tour! Katerina was friendly and fun and so knowledgeable about all the different areas we visited. The meal was amazing - one of the best we had during our time in Greece! We loved it so much we took pictures and recreated it for our friends after we got home! We highly recommend this tour and sweet Katerina! ❤️
Our guide Nikolas knew a lot, showed us a lot, and was a friendly nice guy to enjoy a meal with. He also made sure everyone was attended to and knew how to get to their hotel.
Our tourist guide was very knowledgeable, and friendly! We had a wonderful day and the dinner afterward was perfect! I will recommend this experience to everyone 100%!😍
Private late day walking tour and sunset with full dinner. Nicholas showed us the highlights of Athens and the best spot to get the acropolis picture at night. . Dinner was amazing too much food!! You got to select your meal. Full portions. Found unique places to see where normal tours I’m not sure would take you.
This was a lovely tour which was well paced and had different experiences to the normal Athens tours. Walking through peoples' back gardens was really funny!! Eva and her lovely guide in training (who should graduate with honors) added to our enjoyment as they were very knowledgeable, fun and friendly and didn't fill us with boring facts! Everything was interesting and the dinner was a lovely highlight with great food in a lively atmosphere. Seeing Athens in cooler weather out of the searing sun and heat made it more pleasant too! Well done. highly recommend. Thank you Eva and I'm sorry I forgot guide-to-be name (too many days have passed) but both are lovely!!
Loved seeing the changing of the guard. Enjoyed seeing the city at nite. Meal was really good so much food learned a lot
This was absolutely phenomenal! Our guide Chrisa & Katerina were amazing! We had just arrived in Athens this same day and I wanted to find something to do. I wasn’t sure if we would enjoy this or not but it far exceeded our expectations. They were extremely knowledgeable and the food was outstanding!! Everyone was so nice. We met some wonderful people from other parts of the world. I will never forget this experience! Thank you for an amazing experience!
Exceptional! Our guide was “Eva” and she was fantastic!! She was very knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about sharing her love of Athens with us.
Nicolas did a wonderful job showing us the highlights of the city on our first evening in Athens. The sights and the food were perfect! We enjoyed our time very much.
Katrina was absolutely a pleasure! She was knowledgeable and witty! Tour was all over the city up and down different terrain. Wear good shoes with grippy soles. Dinner was amazing and it was an overall amazing experience for our first day in Athens!
This tour was absolutely fantastic. A lot of walking, but well worth it in the mail we had was phenomenal. So good authentic Greek food. So, worth, every penny of it would definitely do it again. Katarina and and Thrisa were awesome awesome and so knowledgeable and made the night very memorable.
We had a wonderful time. Katerina was such an excellent guide. A very pleasant stroll to a cathedral, then thru the Plaka district and surrounding areas. What a beautiful neighborhood. Also thru the little district that was like an island. We also made it thru the two agora’s, Roman and Greek. All throughout, Katerina was explaining the history and significance of all these sites in the history of Greece and Athens. We ended in a beautiful restaurant that served such delicious food in quantities we could not finish! A definite recommendation to first time visitors to Athens.
This was a very engaging tour of the city, including seeing the changing of the guard ceremony. Our guide Emily, was very knowledgeable and passionate about Athens and its history. She took us to several locations most tourists might not get a chance to see. We had a small group of 8, which made it easy to stay connected. We ended with a very delicious meal and conversation with people from several countries. What a great opportunity to meet and ultimately share a meal. Highly recommended.
Fantastic way to spend our first night in Athens! It was incredible to have that personalized experience with stories, info and navigation around the city. Our guide Joanna was excellent. She was very knowledgeable, friendly and great with our son engaging him in with questions and stories.
Katarina was so knowledgeable about the history and archeology of ancient Greece. She was a delight, dinner was amazing and learned so much! Also, doing the tour in the evening was great to avoid the heat!! Highly recommend!!
The walk is at a leisurely pace and passes through some very cool neighborhoods! Our guide was fabulous!
Katerina was incredible very knowledgeable about the history of Greece her background as an archeologist was an added plus… restaurant was great experience excellent food.
Eva lead our walking tour - excellent guide. Explained everything we saw and the pace was just right. Was a good introduction to Athens. Dinner was excellent and were able to order off the menu. More than enough food and we couldn’t finish what we got. Highly recommend for your first night in Athens. Just remember comfortable shoes.
Our tour guide was Eva and she was the best! We saw so much in a short period of time but never felt rushed. Her enthusiasm and knowledge was awesome! Seeing tourist sites through the eye of a local made it personal. The dinner was superb with a great sampling of Greek dishes.
