It was great to have our own private car to take us to all the stops. Elias gave us some fun background stories and information about the area as we drove. The history of the area is interesting. I loved the Acrocorinth castle and the views from the top. And the canal was impressive. We also saw the temple of Apollo, the Bema for Paul, and the Diolkos. Fun trip for a half day outside of Athens.

Itinerary
Pick up from Athens and one hour drive to reach our first stop.
Corinth Canal, one of the most important projects and 19th century engineering masterpieces, playing a catalytic role for the Mediterranean trade. The Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 metres (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for many modern ships. It is currently of little economic importance becoming mainly a tourist attraction.
Corinth was a city-state on the Isthmus of Corinth, the narrow stretch of land that joins the Peloponnese to the mainland of Greece, roughly halfway between Athens and Sparta. The modern city of Corinth is located approximately 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northeast of the ancient ruins. For Christians, Corinth is well known from the two letters of Saint Paul in the New Testament, First and Second Corinthians. Corinth is also mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles as part of Paul the Apostle's missionary travels. In addition, the second book of Pausanias' Description of Greece is devoted to Corinth. Ancient Corinth was one of the largest and most important cities of Greece, with a population of 90,000 in 400 BC. The Romans demolished Corinth in 146 BC, built a new city in its place in 44 BC, and later made it the provincial capital of Greece.
The Archaeological Museum of Ancient Corinth was constructed between 1931-1932, with intentions to display the numerous recent archaeological excavations. The museum is located within the archaeological site of Ancient Corinth and lies under the jurisdiction of the 37th Ephoreia of the Greek Archaeological Service.
Acrocorinth or "Upper Corinth", the acropolis of ancient Corinth, is a monolithic rock overseeing the ancient city of Corinth. In the estimation of George Forrest, "It is the most impressive of the acropolis of mainland Greece". With its secure water supply, Acrocorinth's fortress was repeatedly used as a last line of defense in southern Greece because it commanded the Isthmus of Corinth, repelling foes from entry by land into the Peloponnese peninsula.
We start our way back to Athens. Travel time is one hour.

We had a great day with George as our guide! George was very knowledgeable, professional and personable, and he made the experience so worthwhile.
This tour was so beautiful! We were picked up, and dropped off right in front of our apartment. The tour guide was quite knowledgeable, and charismatic. He took us to a beautiful spot to have Greek coffee, and even though the coffee machine was not working, he was able to find us an equally beautiful coffee shop. We were able to visit several historical places, but the highlight of our tour was to be able to walk around Ancient Corinth, where St. Paul the Apostle preached the gospel. I would recommend this tour in a heartbeat.
This was a trip well worth taking. George, our tour guide, was fantastic. He adapted the tour to accommodate our interests. We visited the Corinth Canal, Ancient Corinth, viewed markers for the path of St Paul, and visited the old port of Corinth as well as some phenomenal mosaics at a local church. He showed us where Corinthians used to drag boats along the isthmus before the canal was completed. We also visited Acrocorinth, which is not for the faint of heart. We only made it to the entrance, which was treacherous. those last few feet to enter were just not for us, but if you are adventurous, go on ahead. We would highly recommend this tour and George in particular, who was able to answer a host of questions. It was one of the main highlights of our trip to Greece, and not too far from Athens, where our tour originated.
Vangelis was an extremely knowledgeable guide. He arrived at the hotel before our scheduled meetup time so that we could depart on time. He was very kind and helped my elderly mother use her seatbelt. We were able to visit the canal as well as the ruins of Corinth. I felt that I was able to see more this way than I did on many of the tours I had taken on my trip.
We had the most fantastic trip to Corinth with George. He was early, communicated by WhatsApp before pickup, spoke excellent English, most of all was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He dropped us off right at the cruise port in Piraeus which was so good. Very highly recommend!
the guide told us alot about life, culture, and history in Greece which was great. He did not prepare us for the Corinth sites that we were inline to see. He did not accompany us into the sites or museums which surprised us.
Thanasis was prompt, friendly, and professional while offering interesting insights into Greek culture, history, and mythology. It was the perfect way to spend a last day in Greece.
Very professional, very informative, very pleasant and accommodating. Would recommend to anyone!
We had a fabulous half day excursion to Ancient Corinth. It exceeded every expectation we had. Our guide Nikolas was extremely knowledgeable about the history and significance of each site we visited. He added stories along the way that personalized and enhanced our adventure. Would highly recommend this tour and Nikos!!!
George was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. It was a fantastic day learning all about Corinth, the Canal, walking the path of Paul, and the surrounding area. Highly recommend George specially for this trip.
We had a lovely morning tour of Corinth - the canal, ancient city and fortress. Yiannis was a delightful and well versed guide who took good care of me and my mother during our half day tour. He accommodated our every need and was a pleasure to chat with.
Corinth is a beautiful and easy half day destination from Athens. Our driver, Yiannis, was very well versed on the history and significance of the area and a delight to spend the morning with.
John was wonderful. Fluent in English—apologies for my lack of second language skills. Very knowledgeable and able to discuss higher level topics, including classical and current politics and economics. Also, comfortable with silence. Ancient Corinth site is varied. Pauline elements are sparse, but that’s the fact and still sufficient. Nice that such items were not manufactured. Overall site covers long span of history and is true to what has been uncovered. Side stops at canal and fortress added good context and variety.
This tour was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. Ancient Corinth and Acrocorinth were so unique and beautiful with way less crowds than the Athenian Acropolis. Nikos was excellent and very flexible with timing - we brought our 2 little kids who took longer for stops and breaks etc and he was very accommodating and even had booster seats ready for us. The lunch spot Nikos picked for us was incredible with amazing views and the best food of the trip honestly, and the Acrocorinth hike was stunning and beautiful! I would definitely book again. Beautiful photos and memories made on this trip!
The day was so special. Are driver is very knowledgeable and very friendly and accommodating. George is incredibly helpful would recommend him to family and friends.
Was a wonderful experience with Driver George and guide Vera. Both very professional and knowledgeable. Made learning about Ancient Corinthia so fun. Also was able to climb the Acrocorinth , enjoy a family style meal and then see Canal of Corinthia where they used to have to manually drag the ships on land to the other end of the isthmas before the bridge. Highly recommend this tour with these incredible people.
Loved our time in Corinth. George was an amazing driver! He really made us feel comfortable and was very knowledgeable about each place he drove us to. Would definitely recommend!!
We had a wonderful time with our driver! He was very knowledgeable about Greek history and was all around a joyful person to be with.
Great guide! Great trip! Recommend it! Great great great great! Great great great great great great great
Stephanos made our last day in Greece so perfect. He really went the extra mile for us.He knew so much historical information and was very nice. The canal was amazing and Corinth was lovely. Nice museum and site. The castle was amazing and he took us up on the adjacent hill to take pictures of the beautiful view. Really a wonderful day. 5 stars
We loved our day trip with George. He was very knowledgeable and easy to be around. This day trip was interesting.
Well, worth the one hour one way drive. Ancient Corinth is amazing and the crowds were minimal, especially compared to Athens. Yannis (sp) was prompt, pleasant, and knowledgable. He went over and above to accommodate us.
Our trip to ancient Corinth couldn’t have been better. The sights and our guide’s insight made for a wonderful experience. He was patient with questions and a wonderful communicator.
The views and sites were amazing to see! Stelios is a great tour guide who is very knowledgeable about the mythologies and history of Greece. He is a great driver who helped us dive deeper into the archaelogical sites. Highly recommend.
This was the perfect tour. It was great to see the canal and the several ancient Corinth stops. Alex, our driver/guide, was extremely informative, knowledgeable and down to earth. We not only learned about the history of Greece and the areas we visited but also more about Greece today. We would book this tour again! 10/10
We booked the day trip to Old Corinth from Athens for myself, my wife, and my daughter. Our driver and guide, Alex, was absolutely amazing. This was our first of two trips with Alex as our tour guide (the second was the Thermopylae and Delphi day trip from Athens) and with each booking Alex went well above and beyond what was required. He was very very knowledgeable about the areas all along the trip to each location and the locations themselves. He was very personable, and we really enjoyed talking with him and getting to know him. He was a great driver also, which for a long trip is a plus. The vehicle was very clean and nice as well. I would highly recommend this company, this particular tour, and while I am sure all guides are equally as fantastic as Alex, I would highly recommend requesting Alex as your guide. 5 STARS.
Our driver and guide Nikos, was prompt, kind, professional, engaging and wanted to be sure our experience would be the best it could be. This is our 2nd time booking this tour because we wanted our friends to enjoy this excursion and specifically requested the first driver and guide we had in 2023, that request wasn’t able to be accommodated for understandable reasons and as a result, Nikos went above and beyond in serving us. We had just as wonderful and enjoyable a time as we did the first go round, we weren’t rushed, in any way and his recommendation for a local restaurant by the water was perfect, the food was delicious. We would be happy to do this a 3rd time around, the beauty of the Corinth Canal, the hike to ancient Corinth, the lunch, and many other niceties to mention are a must while in Greece.
Our driver, Themos, was fantastic. He provided cols water and snacks in the car, had umbrellas available for the brief rain shower we experienced and had outlets for charging our phones. He narrated the trip with excellent information as we traveled from Athens to The Corinth Canal. We had time to walk the bridges as well as take time to shop at the small souvenir stands there. Because this was a private tour (just the two of us) Themos took us to the places we wanted to see and gave us the time we needed at each stop. After the canal we drove to the sight of ancient Corinth. We paid our way into the site and took a self-guided tour of both the museum and the city site. Again, Themos allowed enough time for us to enjoy this ancient city. He met us at the exit at the agreed time and then traveled to the Corinth Acropolis parking area. My wife chose to remain at the car while I hiked the strenuous climb to the top of the mountain. Again, with our return to Athens, Themos shared about the region, people, history, economy, and so forth. The tour was well worth what we paid. Very enjoyable.
I wish the guide had gone in the ruins and explained them or that the place had an audio guide. It was tough figuring out what we were looking at sometimes. It was special to see the places Paul went, and the Akokorinthos was cool with great views.
Alex was an amazing tour guide. He shared information and was easy to chat with. He never rushed us at the different stops and took us to two additional sites that interested us that were t on the initial tour which we loved. I highly recommend LS Tours
George was a great guide. So attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommended for a visit of Corinth. Enough time to visit beautiful historic places and the canal.
Knowledgeable and experienced guide. Provided information about each site. He is very professional and timely. It’s totally worth the exploring. He is highly recommended
The fact that St Paul had been preaching there. I loved the small museum which was full of ancient everyday things. The guide was well informed and spoke good English. Making the booking was efficiently done. The tour was pleasant and worthwhile.
On-time pick up, informative guide, luxury vehicle and interesting view of the canal. Also, went to the Archaeological Museum as well as the Acrocorinth
Excellent tour guide, Alex was kind and knowledgable. The trip was private, at our own pace. We got to experience the history of Corinth. Highly recommended
All the history and monuments. Driver was great with local knowledge Can’t say enough, how good it was.
We would highly recommend our Half Day Private Tour from Athens to Corinth via LS Tours. It was made exceptional from the attentiveness of our tour guide and driver, George. We were picked up at our hotel (just outside center city Athens) on time and had about an hour drive to our first stop, Corinth Canal from there we proceeded to the Archeological Museum of Corinth, Temple of Apollo and site of St. Paul Altar. We then proceeded to archeological site of The Castle of Acrocorinth. All the while, George provided his knowledge and insight for stops along the way. What was supposed to be a ½ day tour was at least a ¾ day tour as George was more than hospitable in allowing us as much time as we wanted to stay at each one of our stops. Thank you George and LS Tours for a wonderful excursion.
Our tour guide, George was great. The excursion was excellent. The trip to AcroCorinth requires climbing and walking. Anyone taking this excursion should be prepared.
Nice personalised tour from an informative and friendly tour guide. Great day tour option from Athens, which gives good insight into the history of the area
This was a stunning tour! Didn’t feel rushed, which u was concerned about, learned a ton, and was able to see things I’ve dreamed about seeing. Highly recommended! Nicos did a fantastic job!
Nikos was polite, informative, and let us make the experience our own. It was a beautiful day to head out to Corinth! We had fun.
This was a special trip for us following in Apostle Paul's footsteps. Our driver Vasilis was amazing and very helpful. We were able to spend exactly the amount of time we wanted at each site and see what we most wanted to see. I would recommend this to everyone!
This tour made our day. We had a wonderful guide (Alex) who went above and beyond when we discovered that one of our main spots (The temple of Apollos) was closed, he offered additional sites he drove us to and suggested a wonderful and beautiful seaside lunch location. We’d do this all over again!
Our driver, Dimitri, was very knowledgeable and a great conversationalist. He was a very good tour guide and we’re already booking another tour with him.
Very much enjoyed the tour. It was good to see the countryside away from Athens. The castle was a great stop. Steep steps not for the faint of heart. Dimitri was delightful. He is very knowledgeable about the area and Greek mythology.
Fabulous day out with Billy - excellent knowledge of the region, described well and to the level we wished. (ie No long lectures on Greek mythology).
We took the excursion because we wanted to see where the Apostle Paul lived. It was amazing to see ancient Corinth. Our driver was very knowledgeable! It was an excellent experience!
My wife and I had a limited amount of time and we wanted to visit Corinth to get a better understanding of the geography that the Apostle Paul experienced when he visited there for 18 months. We couldn’t have chose a better tour. Our driver and guide, Nikos, arrived at our hotel on time to the minute. His vehicle was a beautiful, Peugeot van. Nikos is a young, professional, personable guide who speaks excellent english with a very gentle and charming Greek accent. We learned a lot about Greek and Biblical history all along our journey. Nikos was well versed in each. Our first stop was the Corinth Canal. Nikos allowed us plenty of time to explore that area. And then down to Ancient Corinth. Again, Nikos’ knowledge of the area was excellent and he allowed us enough time to explore the ruins. On our way up to the fortress on top of the Acrocorinth, Nikos stopped at the Church of Saint Paul and showed us the beautiful outdoor Mosaic which depicts the Apostle Paul’s experience in Corinth. If you have an interest in Paul’s ministry in Corinth, don’t miss this gem! We then went up to the top of the mountain. The fortress on the Acrocorinth is massive and impressive. It is a challenging beast, but if you can make your way up and over to the west side overlooking Ancient Corinth, the view is absolutely magnificent! It took about 45 minutes from the parking lot to get to that point and back. Again, Nikos allowed us enough time for that adventure. Our only regret was that Nikos wasn’t able to accompany us to the canal and ruins. It’s required that a guide be officially licensed. Judging from his knowledge, I think Nikos would have done an excellent job guiding us. Nikos is an extremely experienced and careful driver. He was textbook in his driving skill. Especially in navigating that van through Athens. This was well worth the money. It was just the two of us. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel, we were taken right to the sites we wanted to go, we felt safe, and our driver was knowledgeable and charming.
Stephanos provided taxi service for us to visit Corinth Canal, Acrocorinth, and Ancient Corinth. He was prompt in picking us up from the port, and corresponded with us in advance to confirm pick up location. We enjoyed our day very much, and even extended an extra hour when we spent too much time at Acrocorinth.
