What a brilliant tour! Our driver, George, made us feel so relaxed and we were able to see and do everything without feeling rushed. The tour itself was amazing and perfect for our family. Would highly recommend.

The Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 metres (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for many modern ships. From high up, you can enjoy the best view of Corinth's isthmus and admire the steep limestone walls while you observe the vessels below you navigate their way through the canal.
Corinth was a city-state on the Isthmus of Corinth, the narrow stretch of land that joins the Peloponnese to the mainland of Greece, roughly halfway between Athens and Sparta. The modern city of Corinth is located approximately 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northeast of the ancient ruins. For Christians, Corinth is well known from the two letters of Saint Paul in the New Testament, First and Second Corinthians. Corinth is also mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles as part of Paul the Apostle's missionary travels. In addition, the second book of Pausanias' Description of Greece is devoted to Corinth. Ancient Corinth was one of the largest and most important cities of Greece, with a population of 90,000 in 400 BC. The Romans demolished Corinth in 146 BC, built a new city in its place in 44 BC, and later made it the provincial capital of Greece.
The Archaeological Museum of Ancient Corinth was constructed between 1931-1932, with intentions to display the numerous recent archaeological excavations. The museum is located within the archaeological site of Ancient Corinth, Greece, and lies under the jurisdiction of the 37th Ephoreia of the Greek Archaeological Service. Key aspects of the Archaeological site of Ancient Corinth include: • Hadgimoustafa spring • Lechaion Road • Basilica • Fountain of Peirene • Stoa • Agora • Odien • Other temples • Theatre
The Temple of Apollo at Corinth was constructed in 550 BC.
Acrocorinth, "Upper Corinth", the acropolis of ancient Corinth, is a monolithic rock overseeing the ancient city of Corinth, Greece. With its secure water supply, Acrocorinth's fortress was repeatedly used as a last line of defense in southern Greece because it commanded the Isthmus of Corinth, repelling foes from entry by land into the Peloponnese peninsula.

This was our first time visiting Athens Greece. My husband and I decided to tour Ancient Corinth and Canal half day private tour from Athens. Our driver Alex came into the hotel lobby to meet us and from there we started our adventure! Alex is really informative and a great source of knowledge about this area. We enjoyed our time at the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Corinth and spent some time exploring Akrokorinthos too. We highly recommend stopping and enjoying lunch the Castro’s restaurant after you accomplish the hike to the top of Akrokorinthos! We highly recommend him for your driver.
George was amazing. Could not have asked for a guide. We had an amazing experience!
We enjoyed our day in Corinth. The canal was a bit of a disappointment, but once we got to Old Corinth, the archaeological site was impressive and the museum was outstanding. Everything there was much older than Athens and the museum pieces and write ups were very relatable. After that we drove up to the "castle" on top of a nearby mountain. It was a fortress and you could climb up the hill into the fortress if desired, which our kids did. We had added lunch to this trip and I am glad we did. There was a beautiful restaurant at the foot of the "castle" and the food was very good there. Very enjoyable and we were hungry after a 9am pickup, Our driver had grown up in that area so I felt as though we were well taken care of.
Costas was great . We had blessed time. We watched canal and ancient Corinth and castle of top mountain.
Out guide was exceptional. He was very personable and saw to it personally that all our needs were exceeded (drinks, etc).
We had an absolutely wonderful private half-day tour with Michael exploring Ancient Corinth, the Acropolis, and Corinth from the mountain. His knowledge, insight, and passion for the history of the area were exceptional, and he brought everything we were seeing to life. Michael was early, incredibly professional, and made the entire experience feel relaxed and personal. We hadn’t booked lunch, but he generously gave us extra time and recommended a tremendous local restaurant, which turned out to be a fantastic addition to our day. Michael truly went above and beyond to make our experience special. We highly recommend him and would absolutely tour with him again. Five stars for Michael — he did a fantastic job!
We ended up being the only couple in the van for the day so it ended being a private tour. Tomas was our driver and certainly got to the sights quickly. He is a driver not a tour guide but his English was good and we manage to have some good conversations. It takes over an hour to get there and same going back so Corinth has to be something you want to see. The canal and Ancient Corinth were impressive. Since it was just us we had time to the castle/fortress on the hill above Corinth which was a very nice add.
Aris was very helpful in booking, great comunication. Our guide, Yiannis, was as thoughtful, knowledgeable, and kind a guide as we have met in our 40 years of travel. Superb. Appolo, Oedipus & Sisyphus all come alive at ancient Corinth. A must book Cornith tour. Great value.
John was excellent! We learned so much. The drive and pace was enjoyable! John was very knowledgeable and made sure we had plenty of time at each site.
We had a wonderful experience touring Ancient Corinth with George! He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history, archaeology, and significance of everything we saw, and he made the experience feel personal rather than like a standard tour. What really stood out was how conscientious George was about what we were interested in. He took the time to understand what we wanted to see and learn about and tailored the experience accordingly. His knowledge was impressive, but just as important, he was patient, attentive, and genuinely interested in making sure we enjoyed our day. George was also extremely thoughtful and prepared. He had water with us throughout the tour, which was especially appreciated in the Greek heat, and he was very patient when we stopped for food. We never felt rushed, and he made the entire day comfortable and enjoyable. If you’re visiting Corinth, I highly recommend George. His combination of knowledge, professionalism, thoughtfulness, and genuine care for his guests made our Ancient Corinth tour one of the highlights of our trip to Greece. Thank you, George, for such a memorable experience! We truly enjoyed our time with you.
Great trip. Guide very knowledgeable
Excellent half day tour - Kosta our guide was extremely knowledgeable. The car was clean and tidy with cold water supplied. It was a great choice after disembarking from a cruise to fill in time before being able to check into our hotel. Pickup from the cruise port and drop off in Athens at our hotel. Corinth in an amazing town to visit and suggest if you want to walk up to the castle have good walking shoes on as very uneven surface.
Excellent half day tour. Our driver, George, was amazing very informative and accommodating. Highly recommended.
George was amazing he was very informative and friendly and ga e us plenty of information during the tour. Tour length was ideal and we saw some amazing sites. Highly recommend.
Corinth canal and. Ancient corinth areas were professionally presented with a significant amount historical information provided. Spyros was respectful, courteous, knowledgeable, friendly, on time, and efficient.
Dimitris was very polite and a pleasure to be with. Corinth was a nice excursion to do before heading to cruise ship terminal.
Definitely do this if you’re in Athens. Our tour guide/driverNotis was extremely knowledgeable about the area and history. The canal is amazing! And the ancient Corinth and Acrocorinth excursions were fascinating. The Greek Lunch at Castro Restaurant was delicious.
Looked this tour for pickup at Cruise Port with final drop off at our Hotel in Athens. Mike was our driver and arrived on time at 8AM outside the terminal. Car was clean and he provided great information on our way to Cirinth. First stop at the canal with great info. Then on to Ancient Corinth. Following great free time at the site and museum it was up the mountain to the Acrocorinth with a stop for a snack. As we were ahead of schedule he added in an extra stop at the seaside town with time for a boardwalk stroll and puttingnour toes in the water. After an easy dropoff in Athens with info in the Avropolis and recommendations on restaurants and other things to do. Mike was great from start to finish. Do not hesitate tonise this service and ask for Mike.
This is the first time I’ve really had an experience where it was a private tour just with the group you scheduled it with. Originally rescheduled for four (4) people but unfortunately less than 24 hours before my aunt fell and severely hurt herself at a cruise port. The injury required stitches and limited movement of her body. So unfortunately, she could not make this excursion so it was just me and my husband. George was very kind opened the door every time we got out. The vehicle was air conditioned. George was very kind, opened the door every time we got out the vehicle. It was air-conditioned Mercedes minivan, and it was in wonderful condition. He provided us cold water when we needed it. And he was really knowledgeable on all of the history and could answer all of the questions we had. I really enjoyed having the small group private option available. Even with our cruise ship tendering in from a different port, we were still able to easily find where George was waiting for us. I highly recommend. Seeing the canal is I short stop, but great photo op.
Our guide was Panos and he filled our day with fun facts as well as historical information about the region and its people. He shared some interesting insights about the Apostle Paul’s journey that was amazing. We had such a wonderful time.
It was a wonderful day outside the city of Athens. Corinth is beautiful and the ancient city was fabulous to visit. The trip to the canal and fortress were also an added bonus.
The driver was very knowledgeable of Athens and Corinth. He was very accommodating with our needs. Great tour.
We had a great day out with Michael, our driver and Tour guide for the day. The canal was very interesting and worth a visit and Ancient Corinth has some amazing archaeological ruins. Just note that if going up the entire site, tennis shoes or shoes with very good grip are highly recommended as many of the stones are marble and you travel up fairly steep terrain. We had lunch at a restaurant right by the site and we’re treated wonderfully by the staff and had a great view!
Michael was a great guide--friendly and knowledeable. We really enjoyed the day, and saw everything that was promised. GREAT meal at a local rstaurant was included. I highly recommend this tour.
We started in Athens with a stop at the Parliament House, Acropolis, and the Olympic stadium then off to Corinth. On the way to Corinth we stopped by the canal to see the work that had been done there to connect the 2 bodies of water. Also we visited some of the historic places where the Apostle Paul would have walked. The Acropolis (castle) and the ancient city ruins where he would have preached. Our tour guide, George, was very knowledgeable about the city and history surrounding Greece and about Paul as well.
Dispute rainy weather we learned a great deal on our tour with Notis. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Ancient Corinth and of ancient Greece as well as a strong understanding of the links between Greek and English. The museum was well appointed but due to the weather our walking tour of the Corinth Agora and the Temple of Apollo was cut short. We went up to Acrocorinth and spent a bit of time exploring the original Corinth Acropolis but again the weather cut the walk short so we did not go up to the Temple of Aphrodite. Luckily our tour began with the Corinth Canal and we had a chance to take photos while it was still sunny. I would highly recommend a tour with Notis. He is knowledgeable, professional and friendly.
It wasn't going great at first because I think my family thought that our driver was supposed to be a guide and he didn't have a lot of information on Corinth or the areas we were trying to visit but he was flexible because he ended up taking us to Acropolis and the Pantheon which was not on our route so we ended up having a great time, the vehicle was awesome!
The day of the tour it was rainy and miserable. Not much can be done about that. The issue we had was with the guide. He was training someone that rode along with us and he was more concerned with the training than he was in guiding us. He spoke to us very little. This set the tone for the whole tour. We were very irritated with him and we could feel his annoyance with us. A pretty defensive man.
Great experience. Spyros was an excellent guide with lots of knowledge. He kept us entertained for the whole day!
It was a nice morning tour. We left on time. We toured Corinth, which was a very interesting site. Could have spent a little more time as there was a lot to see and read. The driver also took us up to Acrocorinth for us to see the area and take some pictures. April was a good time of year to have gone as the crowds were not large. The driver was friendly, acommondating and professional, providing interesting factiods as we drove there and back. Spoke english very well.
Excellent day out. Alex was very knowledgeable and helpful, he didn’t rush us. Took us to a great restaurant for lunch.
Alex was a friendly, informative and helpful guide. Not only did he talk about the history of Athens and Corinth, but also about life in Greece. There was plenty of time to explore the locations, you didn't feel rushed. A great place for lunch at the Arcocorinth with amazing views!
Spyros was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. We would certainly recommend him for trips around Athens and Greece
We really enjoyed the trip! Ist was organised well, the driver Michael was really nice and informative and gave us some good tips.He drove safelly and adjusted the trip for us. We can only recommend! Thank you Michael
Our driver, Chris, was great. He showed us the canal from the highest point to the entrance from the sea. Next, we visited the ruins if ancient Corinth; admission was 15 euros each. Everything is original; no reconstruction. Then he drove us to the top of the mountain to.see the castle. Excellent driver.
Great personalized service! Dmitri picked us up right at the cruise ship terminal and took us out to Corinth. Nice drive and conversation. Learned lots. Lunch was perfect. A great add on to your outing. Thanks!
Glad we chose My Athens Transfers for a private tour. Panos, our driver was knowledgeable, patience and friendly. I recommend their services and Panos.
Gianis was kind, helpful and patient - really excellent. Also knowledgeable on history and mythology. We would ask for him again!
Our driver, Thanasis, was very friendly. Shared interesting history about buildings and areas we drove by. The sights we saw were beautiful! After climbing up as high as we could manage at Akrokorinthos, he had the AC waiting for us. A great day trip and great guide. Definitely recommend
I took this tour because I wanted to see Corinth but didn't want a very long day going all the way to Nafplio as well. It meant having to book the 2 person minimum despite being a solo traveler. Fortunately, Thanasis made it a great trip, with so many stories, not just about Corinth but also Greece in general. He was flexible and kind, and I got a more personal sense for the Greek sentiment than you would get from dedicated tours.
Wonderful experience with John. Very detailed knowledge. He was very kind and friendly. The canal and ancient Corinth were fascinating.
The private tour allowed our group to tour these sites at our own pace. Our driver provided us with information on what we would see but could not guide us through the sites.
This was an excellent way to spend the morning after arriving back to the cruise terminal before being able to check into our hotel in Athens. If you enjoy hiking more than museums, I recommend spending less time at the museum and more time exploring Acrocorinth.
This is a must see in Corinth. Would also be accessible with your own transportation but would not get the narrative from your guide. Enjoyed the ancient ruins of Corinth and the museum. The walk up the Akrocorinth castle (free) was a bit challenging but enjoyed the view. Sometimes just easier to let someone else drive with lots of departure time options.
Spyros was FANTASTIC! He was so knowledgeable, kind and entertaining. He answered all of our many questions. And he was a great driver! I highly recommend this tour!
Alex gave my husband and I a wonderful tour of ancient Corinth, the canal, and the Corinth acropolis. Alex was very knowledgeable, communicated with us well, and allowed us to take our time and focus on the parts of the trip we were most interested in. He showed us a delightful lunch spot with an amazing view! I would absolutely recommend Alex’s tours to other visitors.
I like to commend Alex our driver for his knowledge and perspective explaining the sites. Very interesting and informative tour. - Robert
We had an excellent time. Cost, our driver, was great. He asked us why we chose this excursion and we told him it was to do somewhat of a biblical tour of where the Apostle Paul may have been. So he took that to heart and shared info that would add to the experience we wanted. He was very knowledgeable about Greek Mythology & religion. He was very passionate when he spoke and his information helped make each stop more memorable. The length of the day was perfect. We went to 4 stops and enjoyed them all. We never felt rushed. We would recommend this tour.
Michael was a great tour guide. He was pleasant, funny and very knowledgeable. We very much enjoyed our tour and will recommend it to friends.
