Ancient Athens Tour: Acropolis, Parthenon And Acropolis Museum

The Acropolis & Pantheon was Strenuous in slippery weather when wet but so worth while for the effort. Our guide Maria was caring and kept us safe. The museum was fantastic. This experience would mean very little without an experienced guide to bring it to life.

A lot of walking but we were able to manage! Wear comfortable shoes and sunglasses! Our tour guy was awesome! Vassily was extremely knowledgeable with a sense of humor! So glad we chose Viator for this outing!

This tour was fantastic. Our guide, Phoebe, is an archaeologist on the site & was so knowledgeable & interesting. We learnt so much more than if we’d done it independently. She catered to the speed of everyone, looked for shade, took our photos, let us have toilet stops & grab a bite to eat on the way from the Acropolis to the Museum. She was indeed an absolute gem. We couldn’t have had a better experience hence we added the museum tour on to our day with her.

Excellent tour with Lora as our guide. She was terrific. She read our group well, stopped in shade for short rest as she informed us of the ruins. Answered our questions and was great in the museum as well pointing out important facts and ruins.

This excursion is amazing! You really have to wear comfortable shoes and be ready for a decent mild hike. Once you reach the top it’s breathtaking! So worth the hike up!!

This is a challenging tour if you have any difficulty walking. Besides stairs up and down, the walkways are uneven and very slippery. Orestis was very good, informative and humorous.

Walk n talk a lot on this Athens tour! We learned so much from our very knowledgeable guide on this tour. Better be in fairly good shape to walk, stand and navigate many flights of stairs. All the historical sights, archeological sites, and museum gave a whole day of memorable experiences.

Wonderful visit to Acropolis and Parthenon. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and positively contributed to an enjoyable experience. Yes, you can do this without the aid of a guide as there are several stations along the walk with assisted audio, however the tour guide was able to add another dimension by responding to questions with additional detail.

Our guide, Vangeles, was excellent. He was previously a school teacher, and researcher. He was able to read and transcribe many languages. His Greek and English speaking language skills were also great.

Our tour with Galataca(sp) was awesome. I learned so much from her knowledge of the history of the Acropolis. We then joined her in the museum for a very informative tour of all the artifacts from the Acropolis. I highly recommend.

Very informative and worthwhile. Did both the Ancient Athens tour and the museum. There were about 18 people in our group but only 6 of us also did the Acropolis Museum ...which really tied it all together. Would recommend doing both.

This was an amazing tour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable, blending the archaeology, history and culture and connecting it to modern Athens. He was very much a history student and scholar, which we greatly appreciated. When areas on the Acropolis where we were visiting were more crowded, the guide made certain to either pause or to adapt the plans to ensure that we could see everything. The second part of the tour was in the Acropolis Museum. The guide provided information and perspective on the exhibits that we would not have gotten if we had visited it on our own. He also selected exhibits that were particularly interesting and/or unique.

This tour was our highlight of Athens. The tour guide always makes the difference and our guide was Aphrodite. She was so personable and knowledgeable. We had plenty of time for viewing and she kept us moving. I don't feel like we missed anything. This was a wonderful and memorable experience thanks to Aphrodite.

If you only have 1 day in Athens - I would 100% recommend this tour. Especially if you lucky enough to have Petros as your tour guide! I love everything about Greek history and mythology and my Wife only has a vague interest, but this tour catered to us both wonderfully! There were stories about mythology, explanations into history, fascinating information about architecture - all delivered by someone who was passionate about the subject. The climb was obviously high, but the guide made sure we had lots of stops and places to rest, all whilst giving us wonderful information. Be sure to dress appropriately, and plan for the weather. The floors can be a bit slippery. This was genuinely one of the better tours I have been on, and although it seems a bit pricey, it is definitely value for money. I would recommend adding the museum to your trip as it really brings home where the missing pieces of Athens culture are (I'm looking at you British Museum!). I will be suggesting this tour to anyone who tells me they are going to Athens - it was honestly that good!

We did the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum tour at 8am, and we really enjoyed the tour! The timing was nice to get ahead of large crowds, and our guide provided amazing information. The tour and our knowledgeable guide provided amazing information on the site, its history, and provided context for how the site was created and its importance in the time period. Having a guide in the museum was worth the price! Our guide was amazing for taking us through the museum and providing so much information about the items in the museum and why they are important. It allowed us to appreciate the site and museum to a greater extent and learn so much more! I cannot recommend this tour enough!

This was a very well run tour. Giannas was a very knowledgeable tour guide and made our trek up the acropolis easy to maneuver, with all the other tourists. It also provided historical information and viewing options to surrounding sites. Include the museum tour to associate what you just saw at the Parthenon, it brings the whole experience together. I would highly recommend this tour.

When in Athens, I highly recommend this tour. Selena, our tour guide was the best! Even though we were in a group of about 15 people, I felt like Selena was our own private tour guide. The information that she gave us was so fascinating. We were on the 4-hour walking tour. It also included a tour of the museum with our guide. When considering this tour, the museum is also a must see because many of the ancient art decorations have been preserved and displayed in the museum. That in itself, was so educational and beautiful. The walk up to the Parthenon, while moderately challenging, can also be a bit difficult because of the slippery rocks at some points on the walk. Make sure you bring water and sunscreen as directed. We were here on a beautiful sunny day in October, and we were very happy to have both. The tour was an eye-opening, up close and personal exploration of ancient Athens. Thanks to Selena for making this experience memorable. For these reasons, I highly recommend this tour.

We arrived early and luckily joined a tour quickly to avoid the heat. Our guide was an accredited archaeologist and was very personable, experienced and knowledgeable with impeccable English. We were guided through the Acropolis and The Parthenon (and the other tourists) with our guide finding spots to stop and impart information. We then went on to the impressive museum where our guide encouraged us to stay on our own after the tour to maximise our experience. 100% recommend.

We like how the activity was organized All in time with our comfort in mind letting us making washroom visits when it was the good time and we did an early time slot We saw many people and we can only imagine how crowded would be later Impressive monuments that cannot be missed and very worthy the licensed guide information Probably you still like the temple and Parthenon and the entrance to the acropolis due to its size and magestic presence but without the history and explanations it’s an empty beauty Acropolis museum is a must visit ! This was our first time seeing ancient ruins and imagining what it would be like living In those times . Great guide , well paced with our guide positioning us in great spots to get good views and avoid the crowds.
