Ancient Athens For Kids 4-hour Private Walking Tour

Niki was an amazing guide and kept my 9 year old entertained throughout the entire tour. The flexibility was great as well since the heat was a lot. We definitely recommend!

Our guide (Bianca) was wonderful, she was extremely knowledgable and great with the kids. We visited in July on the first day of a heatwave which could have made it unbearable, but Bianca kept us moving and in the shade where possible (along with a stop for ice cream). Our kids (9 and 7) were already reasonably knowledgable about greek mythology, but Bianca helped bring this to life for them, and introduced them to the history of the Olympics as well. Some themed games and an ongoing 'freeze until you answer questions, with points for getting it right' helped keep the kids engaged.

This was such a fun tour for the kids. It is a great way for the kids to see the city in the first day. We did this tour when we just landed as a way to get our feet wet and a great way for the kids to set some sites. Our guide Nikki was amazing with the kids. She was so enthusiastic and entertaining with them.

Niki, was an amazing guide. She was so interactive with my children and kept them interested and engaged the whole time. We went a bit past our time but she was okay with because the kids were having fun. She taught them a lot and it was a great way for us to start our trip to Athens.

We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour with Nikki. We were worried that the standard tours would be a little too hard to follow for our 7 year old so we chose this tour that is aimed at families and we didn't regret it at all. Nikki built fun age appropriate activities and games into the day and she didn't mind that we weren't fast paced walkers or that my son interrupted with his own facts and myths. My son was a big fan and has since said many times that he really enjoyed the tour and that Nikki was the best guide ever.

This is hands-down, one of the best tours we’ve ever done! Bianca highly educated our family and made learning fun. We were able to see many of the most important monuments and ruins in Athens while playing games and even stop for a refreshing beverage. Our two daughters, ages 11 and 8, were able to easily walk in the heat because Bianca made sure to find shaded spots and knew exactly where to go to cool off if we needed to. Both of my daughters said this was the most fun they’ve ever had on a tour. Bianca made this an unforgettable experience for us. We highly recommend booking this tour with her!

We had an incredible 4-hour walking tour with Ellie at the Acropolis and Parthenon! Despite the heat, Ellie was amazing at finding us shady spots while sharing fascinating stories and historical insights about each monument. She made everything so engaging and brought the ancient world to life — this tour quickly became one of the highlights of our trip. Ellie was friendly, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable. We especially enjoyed our little break together for a cold drink, where we had the chance to learn more about Greece and about Ellie herself. Effie was awesome. 4 and 6 YO boys enjoyed her games, stories and interactive tour. Highly recommend as an optimal way to see Athens most famous tourist destinations.

We did the early afternoon tour with Nicki and it was perfect. The guide provided a great overview of Ancient Athenian life as we walked around several sites. It was a fun way to experience the sites rather than just walking around them on our own. It was both informative and relaxed sort of tour, perfect for those with kids. We took frequent breaks in the shade, where our guide was ready with interesting questions and activities that were age appropriate and kept my son engaged while we rested between walks. It was a great way to see some of Central Athens too as we walked the streets to make our way to each ancient site. We highly recommend!

We absolutely loved this tour! I booked it with my sons, age 9 and 11. It was very hot and they were fighting jet lag but Nicki was amazing at engaging them & explaining various parts of Athens history. We cannot recommend Niki highly enough as a tour guide for the Ancient Athens for Kids tour! She was absolutely excellent with our daughter, who took to her immediately and even held her hand for much of the 4-hour tour. What impressed us most was Niki's ability to balance engaging our young child while still providing fascinating information for the adults. She came prepared with numerous interactive games throughout the tour that kept our daughter keenly interested in all the historical sites we visited. Her knowledge of ancient Athens was comprehensive and she presented it in ways that captivated every age group in our family. We loved our time together exploring Athens with Niki and will cherish the memory of this tour for our entire lives. If you're traveling to Athens with children, Niki's tour is an absolute must!

We just went on this tour with Be a Greek - led by Niki. We had a BLAST! I have two children who are sometimes difficult to entertain, and get easily distracted. They were engaged, involved, and loved the learning experience. Their favorite part, of course, was the games Niki had for them. My younger child said it was the best tour they have been on while traveling. We would highly recommend this experience - it’s definitely worth the cost!

We did a 4 hour walking private tour in Athens with Yannis (John) who was an excellent guide! He spoke 5 languages and excelled in Spanish and English. We walked to the fish/meat market, parliament, and had a lovely lunch at the base of the Acropolis at a beer garden. Janis had amazing knowledge about the history of Athens, the buildings "neoclassic" architecture and was knowledgeable about Greek mythology. Niki was a loving and engaging tour guide who won over our 5 year old and 14 year old alike. She was respectful when our kid was shy at first and then engaged them with games about the gods and goddesses while sprinkling in accessible information about the history and sites we were seeing. It was so helpful to have a tour that catered to the kids while also being engaging for me. She was flexible when we wanted to take breaks in the heat and the tour had a casual pace that still got us through so many sites!

The guides were AMAZING! Just wow. Honestly. Bianca helped us arrange three tours - one of them he Acropolis, one of Athens and one tour going to the beach and Cape Sounion. I can not say enough about the guides. They were SO SO good and friendly, they really were able to accommodate our 4 children (ages 10, 9,6,3) and make it so engaging for them. They were able to give them Greek mythology, history and how they related to the sites in such a fun and engaging way that all of them enjoyed and stayed interested and actually learned something and retained the information. We met with Maro and Bianca for a treasure hunt and to learn about the major sites in Athens. Our kids are 10, 8, 6 and 2 so lots of levels to entertain. They were incredibly patient, knowledgeable and made it fun for the kids. We would highly recommend to any family to learn about history in a fun way.

Such a brilliant trip and fabulous way to see Athens with children. Antonia and her colleague were fabulous from beginning to end- enchanting our children with tales of Ancient Greece and having endless fun with them. They even helped us out when I accidentally booked the wrong day and brought our tour forward. Despite walking over 16,000 steps our daughters didn’t grumble once and just had the best day. This was a lovely tour. They had a terrific route that gave us a view we would not have seen otherwise of the acropolis and took us through the national gardens and the Olympic stadium, via Hadrian’s arch. Antonia did a great job of adding games and telling mythological stories with points for right answers to keep our six year old and nine year old attentive and engaged. They happily walked for four hours and paid attention the whole time. So a total success.

Amazing tourguide Antonia took us around Ancient Athens for 4 hours. Kids are 7, 10 and 12 and she made it fun, interesting and made sure they they keen listeners throughout the tour. They were also very flexible in regards to timings and dates. Information before the tour was also superb so we knew exactly what to expect and where to meet. Highly recommend this tour, Antonia had a wealth of knowledge and the kids found her stories of mythology and games very engaging. It was extremely hot but Antonia kindly ensured we had lots of breaks from the sun and the walking. If you are travelling with young children (ours were 8 and 11) this is a wonderful way to cover off on many of the main city sights! Well done Antonia we really enjoyed it, thank you.

A really great walk in the footsteps of the Greek Gods and Athen’s founding fathers! Antonia was our private guide - warm, welcoming, knowledgeable and funny. Telling lively tales from Greek mythology and entertaining our kids with funny games and a great playground visit along the way. The ice cream was superb. In sum, an excellent way to spend a few hours with kids as young as 5 years old in Athen.

We walked around Athens learning about mythologie, ancient history and culture with Antonia. She was smart and sweet with the kids and made the tour a pleasure during 4h with happy kids from 5 to 12 years old. Games were included, some treats as well and entrance tickets. Great tour for kids! We enjoyed it a lot. Only down side was how hot it was, but the tour and guide were both amazing.

Antonia was amazing! She provided so many fun activities for the kids and spaced them out perfectly throughout the morning. The ice cream break was perfect timing on a hot day in Athens. The kids loved hearing about the Greek gods and seeing the sites. Antonia was very flexible with our needs and understanding/patient with our children (2 and 6 years old), If you are traveling to Athens with youngsters I would highly recommend!

We had a fantastic time with our guide. She was extremely knowledgeable and most importantly, really great fun! She was also really fantastic company. Our tour included lots of really great games which the kids (and adults) loved. She also shared lots of interesting stories and information about the sites which were really age appropriate. We went to lots of main sites but to hidden away spots which we would never have found on our own. Whilst not cheap, it was money well spent. I am so pleased we booked this tour. We loved just walking around the City with our tour guide! It was nice to hear all of the stories of the Greek Gods and to be able to ask any questions we had about modern Greek life. We went to places I would not have normally planned, and the tour guide quickly adjusted when our 7 -year old daughter needed a snack break. It was one of my most memorable parts of our trip.

This was a great way to learn about Athens as a family. Our wonderful tour guide customized the tour for our family (4.5 yr old and 19-mo old). Our older son said it was his highlight of our trip to Greece. Highly recommend to any families or groups with kids 4 and older.

This Was A great experience! Our guide, Effie, had such A knowledge of all the details, and what’s Even more amazing, Was able to «sell» all the facts to our kids (13,10 and 7). Walking through old Athens all the myths became as alive. The entertaining part Was individually adjustet and Was really fun. We loved the visit to the café with delicious greek food as well. Our guide Martina was amazing. She was so patient with our young kids (ages 3 and 7) and took the time to try to help them learn throughout the tour. She was prepared with a variety of games to keep everyone interested but also managed to share a great amount of knowledge and history to keep the adults entertained.
