Well worth the money. This tour was amazing and our guide was very knowledgeable. Truly a great tour.

This was the 2nd time I’ve done this tour. I did it 9 years ago and got a lot out of it. The tour was in 2 parts. The first was of central Athens including Syntagma, central Athens including the gardens. Despina led the tour and she’s quite a character. Interesting historical and political perspectives. I learned a lot. The Acropolis tour was run by Hermes’ who was engaging, knowledgeable and had a lovely dry wit. He led us up the Acropolis gently as it was a hot day, explaining lots of things along the way. He too shared fascinating historical and political perspectives that I hadn’t heard about (and I have Greek heritage). This tour is a great taster into Athens. I recommend it.
Such an amazing experience to see all the historical beauty of Athens - I enjoyed all the history and how knowledgeable our tour guide was! Dimitri made the experience fun and enjoyable for All and was very kind to think of others throughout the tour! It was pretty hot - make sure you have plenty of water and good walking shoes!
The tour was highly educational, our tour guide Eva was outstanding! She was warm friendly and very knowledgeable. I loved the way she explained the whole story of Athens and Acropolis allowing us enough time to capture and experience the history behind it! Eva was very interactive and even treated us to the traditional Greek dessert to us, which was very touching! Eva offered to take our photos and found the experience even more special and adventurous because of the nature of her personality! I would highly recommend this tour to all who would like to make it worthwhile visiting Athens. Thank you Eva and team xxx
So-so tour. Meeting point has the dirtiest WC in Athens. Low standards, the guide was enthusiastic but disorganized. Her photos/diagrams should have been in a binder with plastic photo holders vs falling out onto the floor numerous times. We bought the tour to get tickets to the Acropolis. One ticket was for the tour time and the other was for a later window holding us up at the entry. The guides audio system broke down mid-way through the tour. She was admonished by other guides for shouting/loud voice that was competing with other tours. She wasn’t carrying spare batteries that would have fixed the problem. Wouldn’t go on another tour hosted by this company. Meh…
Very insightful. The tour guide did a great job at explaining all the history and was passionate about it. My teens enjoyed it. I recommend.
Alexandria was a very good guide, easy to understand and wealth of knowledge. Pace was good and timing too eg for entry into Acropolis, missing the queues. Really made it a very good tour. Only negative was booking T&C said arrive 15 mins early, then email the day before said be there 30mins before!!! Crazy early - only needed 5/10 mins to distribute ear pieces/tickets and if you are late then should be your fault.
The guide was exceptional! His knowledge of the history of the sites and Greece in general was phenominal. I would highly recommend this tour
Great guide, very nice walk around town. Really interesting stop at the archeological museum. Everything was pleasant and very informative.
Good tour sites and timings. Information was useful and the guide Vicky was lovely and positive but laughed at the end of every sentence. The listening devices were distorted and actually the narration became distracting to the information being given. So whilst some facets were useful some parts became too much, the detail could have been deeper rather than more superficial information about wider issues. One guest on the tour insisted on speaking about the Roman equivalent and asked/challenged so many parts (apparently he used to be a tour guide and disrupted some of the tour) I appreciate this was not the tour guides fault.
Excellent guide! She was very knowledgeable and we were able to see the iconic structures of the Acropolis. Guide was considerate about the heat and made a point to be in the shade. I loved that it was a more intimate group. The meeting place was at the Syntagma Metro. Perhaps specify and be clear to mention to meet downstairs because of this, I took a star off. Otherwise tour and guide were great!
Our tour guide, Sissy was incredibly knowledgeable and fascinating. I’ve done dozens of walking tours and have never been on a tour with a tour guide so knowledgeable. I initially only had the acropolis/city walking tour but when she said she was also scheduled to do the acropolis museum tour I booked that tour with her and so glad I did. Sissy was a wealth of information and learned so much about mythology and Ancient Greek life. Highly. Recommended
I really enjoyed the myths that Athena told and how well she could describe the significance of the monuments. She was a fantastic tour guide, very knowledgeable, and a great person overall. Highly recommend taking a tour from her.
Dimetrie, is excellent tour guide and historian, we enjoyed our tour of Athens and the Acropolis very much. This is a very well organized group and I highly recommend them.
Being here has really brought me the history that I have read about, taught, and watched documentaries. There was so much and was so wonderful. The tour is not for the faint hearted.
Georgia our guide was great, friendly, a lot of knowledge and the tour was well organized. We had great weather so it was more enjoyable to walk around Athens sights.
We really enjoyed our walking tour! Lots of great information at a pace that was relaxed but allowed us to see all of the sites. While the acropolis was amazing, we also enjoyed the changing of the guards at the parliament buildings, and the walk through the National Gardens. Our guide Apollon did a great job, and we were fortunate to meet two additional guides (Eva and Maria) who will be doing tours in the summer. They were all lovely and we would be happy to do another tour with them in the future.
Great tour.. We got a bit late as I had an injured leg.. Our archeologist guide Yanis (hope I spelled that right) was more than wonderful & accommodating.. He altered his pace to match mine, took the right number of breaks to help me & presented history in a great way.. The Acropolis tour could've been longer, but it was incredibly cold & windy up there.. He answered all our questions & delivered the tour right how it was described.. Thank you !!
Can’t say enough about Olesya’s Athens walking and Acropolis tours. Highlights of the walking tour included the changing of the guards at the Parliament building. I’ve watched my videos repeatedly with awe and respect for the guards. Strolling the National Garden brought a sense of quiet and calmness to the bustling city. Acropolis tour was teeming with information from mythology to architectural facts. Her details aided in imagining the lives of the people who walked the paths before present time. Highly recommend her.
Arranged this tour last minute as we wanted a little more than just wandering around the summit on our own. Meeting place near the south entry was easy to find and check in completed quickly. Price included entry to the archaeological area and a front of line pass. Our guide, Antonis was incredibly knowledgeable and imparted information we would not have been able to get otherwise. Although the climb to the summit is high it was managed in easy stages. Bring water as it is hot even in cooler months. It can be refilled at the summit. Highly recommend.
Great walking tour with our guide Apollon on this 3.5 hour walk around Athens ending with a tour of the Acropolis and Parthenon. Apollon was very informative and delivered in a great style which made the whole experience thoroughly worthwhile.
A great way to see and learn about Athens. The tour started and ended on time. Our tour guide was also super great! Made the whole experience worth it
Very good skip the line Acropolis tour, however this tour group DOES NOT make the meeting place clear. We walked around Syntagma square looking for our guide whom never called my phone for an hour. We finally got in touch with them and we were able to meet for the Acropolis. They refused to refund half our money.
Great intro to the city, the acropolis and historical Athens. Our guide was very knowledgeable making the tour an interesting introduction to Greek history.
Our first ever visit to Athens and this tour was quite magnificent, from starting off at Syntagma Metro museum to finishing on top of Acropolis. Memories of this beautiful ancient city will live with us always ❤ Our tour guide Margarita was incredible, her knowledge and ability to pick out the best vantage positions, we can't thank you enough 😊 Thank you 😊
Amazing tour, which gave us a real sense of the Athens. Our tour guide was delightful. She was able to really give us a condensed history lesson while we walked from location to location. So glad we joined a tour. Overall fantastic!
Really enjoyed this walking tour from start to finish. The itinerary packs a lot in without being too much, and being able to walk around Zapion, Hadrian's Arch and the Gardens in Syntagma set the tour off really well. I really enjoyed how knowledgeable to tour guide was about the tomb of the unknown soldier and seeing the changing of the guard was fun too. The tour is almost worth it for the Acropolis alone however as our guide was full of amazing information on the whole site from the Temple of Dionysus right up to the Parthenon. She managed us as a group really well, allowing us to ask questions and even when there were huge crowds made it easy to keep track of them. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested.
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and went to a lot of trouble to explain the things we visited,
The guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed the tour. We got to hear historical facts about the City and the Acropolis.
Our tour guide was amazing. Her knowledge and presentation of the Acropolis, Syntagma Square and city center were great! The climb to the top of the Acropolis was awesome!
We enjoyed our tour! Our tour guide was an archeologist and very knowledgeable. We appreciate him finding shady as often as possible. He also made several stops as we climbed the Acropolis which resulted in us getting to the top before we knew it. Great tour and would definitely recommend.
Very nice tour, we had plenty of rest breaks, Dimitri was a great guide and filled us with great information. Highly recommend
Beautiful sites to be seen. Vicky our guide was fantastic, super dynamic, very friendly and full of knowledge. Great tour!
We did a tour as a part of our stay in Athens. It was during a heatwave, so we they modified our tour slightly to keep us safe, so we did the Acropolis and Museum tour instead. Alexandra was an excellent tour guide - very engaging and knowledgable (she is even an archeologist!). The Acropolis is incredibly facinating - be pprepared to wait in 1hr+ lines to get to the top during peak season. It is worth it though, especially was such a knowledgeable guide helping us understand the significance. The museum is also amazing. All in all, both destinations are incredibly enhanced with the Athens Walking Tours staff.
Wow! I never imagined a nearly 6.5 hour walking tour could be so enjoyable. The tour flew by with our amazing guide, Fotini. She gave plenty of breaks on our walk up to the Acropolis and was extremely knowledgeable about all things Greek history. Her passion for Greek culture seeped into all parts of our tour. Although spanning the entire day, we felt like we saw all the major sights in Athens. I can’t recommend this tour enough!
Fantastic tour, highly recommend. Good information as you see the ruins!! Nice walk through the park and marathon area.
We loved the stories associated with each of the structures, the guide was amazing and so knowledgeable
This was one of our favourite experiences in Athens. We loved exploring the city, seeing Changing the Guard, walking through the park and seeing the turtles. The second half of this tour is climbing the Acropolis, which isn’t as exhausting as it looks! Loads of things to see including the remains of the Theatre of Dionysius: the birthplace of western theatre! Our guide Charoula was fantastic. I’m a licensed tour guide in London, so I can be tough to impress. She was informative and funny and happy to answer questions. Her pacing was gentle, but her timing was impeccable. She made this tour special!
A very informative tour led by the very knowledgeable and engaging Rina. Starting on the second level of the impressive Syntagma Square metro station, Rina showed us the changing of the guard, before walking through the National Gardens and past the Temple of Zeus. We stopped for a welcome coffee before heading up the hill to the Acropolis. The tour was well-paced and not overly strenuous, although the route up to the Acropolis is uneven and slippery in places. Would definitely recommend!
The excursion was overall amazing. Sissy was so knowledgeable and thoroughly explained the history. From the Syntagma archeological discoveries to the changing of the guards to the Acropolis tour, it’s an experience that we will never forget.
Our guide Helena was informative and a wealth of information. A great intro to the city and some of the major sites, of course including the Acropolis. We liked that it ended on top of the Acropolis allowing us to explore more as needed. We also really appreciated the headphone sets as it allowed us to hear all the information from our guide.
A good paced walk past a few significant sites to the acropolis. Great knowledge and delivery. Well organised.
Southern approach to Acropolis was dusty and extremely rocky, almost dangerous at times. Much better to use western gate which is paved and smooth. Visitors from both entrances converged at major bottleneck at noon, which barely moved for a long time, but was not a problem at 2 pm.
Appolon was wonderful! His experience and knowledge made for a delightful day. Over and above! Kindness and hospitality!
Really good way to get started in Athens. We were given good meeting instructions and found the team (lower level of the station). Tour ran to time and Apollon was really helpful and clearly enthusiastic about his city. The city part of the tour was maybe a little brief, but we saw all the items on the itinerary. Acropolis Hill was hard work and we seemed to hit a busy time. Also tour kept stopping in awkward places, but the stories were timed well and relevant to the stop. Tour lasted about 3.5h with a 20m break. Glad we didn't choose the museum visit - that would be a lot for 1 day.
Really enjoyed this tour - the guide was friendly and full of interesting insights that added to the experience. It was my first time in the city so the first part of the tour was useful to get a feel for some different parts of the city - but the Acropolis was obviously the highlight. It's a long walk up, but broken up with stops to explain some of the different ruins on the south slope (which was quieter than the main entrance)
Walked around the Syntagma metro station for 15 minutes looking for the tour guide, no one to be found. 2 days in Athens now 1 wasted… not happy
Despina our guide was excellent! It was clear that she knew the city and the stories behind it - and the Acropolis of Athens - very well. Interesting background stories throughout the tour. Wonderful experience!
Love the way Elias handled the group…he was good. The ruins are amazing but was able to be covered by short and sweet walking tour! Good coverage of all we want to know!
I convinced my husband that a long tour would be better than days of wandering on our own, and I was right :) Apollon was a perfect guide, offering just the right amount of guidance and free time to explore and stare in amazement. The explanation in Syntagma Square really set the stage for the day’s explorations. Watching the changing of the guard was a definite highlight, and having Apollon explain some of the details made it even more interesting. The walk through the Acropolis wasn’t too fast, and gave some of the slower folks in our group time to take pictures. Finally, his storytelling at the Acropolis Museum made the entire day worthwhile, as it really wrapped up all we’d seen and learned.
