Bettina, our assigned guide, was an excellent guide and conducted an excellent tour. I would rate this guide and the material she covered five stars. The end of the tour was confusing for us since we found our own way out. It was unfamiliar and was not where we had entered. So pay attention as you walk to the entrance if you take this tour. The cost of the tour which lasted about an hour and forty-five minutes was pricey based on the cost of other private tours that we have used here and in other cities. I would recommend visiting the Acropolis Museum if you have time before or after this tour to add some other interesting details to the experience. But, this tour on its own was excellent and covered every aspect of the Acropolis. The operator of the tour was responsive and helpful. He called me the day of tour and answered many questions that I had regarding this tour and other tours that we will be taking while in Athens. Another 5 Stars for customer service for this operator. If you take this tour enjoy your time on the Acropolis!

Itinerary
MEETING OUR GUIDE. Your guide will be waiting at Makrygianni Street at the Acropolis Metro stop which is just around the corner from the Acropolis Main Entrance. Our meeting spot provides an ideal perspective from which to view the surrounding wall of the Acropolis built by the earlier Mycenean civilization and to provide you with an introduction to the History of the Acropolis, its importance and role in the life of ancient Greece, and an overview of the temples & amazing monuments you are about to see.
Still in a good state of preservation, one of our first stops is the Ancient THEATER OF DIONYSUS. Built in the 4th & 5th century BC in a natural amphitheater o nthe slopes of the Acropolis it would have had an impressive capacity of 25000, it is considered the world's oldest. Amazing to think that many of the most famous Ancient Greek plays would have had their original premieres here!
Ascend towards the monumental gateway (Propylaia) and entrance to the Acropolis. As the Temples of the Acropolis come into view, the Ancient Greeks would have been greeted by an enormous decorated Bronze Statue of the Goddess Athena. As legend has it, the tip of her upheld spear could be seen by incoming ships in the sunlight.
Built around 420 BC, and one of the earliest temples of the Acropolis, this Classical Ionic Temple was dedicated to the Goddess Athena and is largely restored, with a prominent position overlooking the City.
The pinnacle of the 'Golden-Age' of Classical Greece, this temple was an unrivaled mastepiece of Art, Architecture and Engineering as well as the heart of Ancient Greek ceremony and worship in Athens. We Take time at this most important temple with an overview of its construction, mythology and Historical importance.
The second largest temple of the Acropolis, the Erechtheion was Dedicated to both Zeus and the Goddess Athens and your guide will illuminate some of its wonderful Mythology and main aspects such as its impressive statues that you will now see in the Museum.
Built in AD 161 by Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife, this stunning Marble amphitheater continues as a working theater to the present day.
ENDING YOUR TOUR. After completion, your guide will leave you in the Acropolis so you have more time to enjoy the views & take photos. If you have chosen a tour option continuing to a second site, you will continue with your guide, ending at your second site.
BOOKING OPTIONS: ACROPOLIS Golden-Light Tour. If choosing this booking option, your tour will be timed towards the famous special effects of the low light in the plateau of the Acropolis. ACROPOLIS Tailored 3hr Tour. If choosing this option your private Acropolis tour is extended to include another site of your choice such as the Acropolis Museum, Ancient Agora, or Plaka Neighbourhood. Please let us know your choice after booking.

Excellent tour. Learned so much more than could have hoped for. She was a wealth of knowledge and so fun to be with.
Our guide Petros was exceptional. Equal parts friendly, knowledgeable and funny; he gave us an amazing afternoon. Great photographer as well.
Amazing tour. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and helpful and really took time to help us understand what we were looking at.
Our guide apparently took a different guest which resulted us in waiting 15 mins for their guide to find us, without the correct name. Tour was fine after that but the wasted time cost us as we had the final time slot of the day at the acropolis.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Acropolis Skip The Line Private Tour with Licensed Expert Guide, and Vicky was excellent. She was incredibly knowledgeable, very engaging, and clearly knew the Acropolis and its history in great depth. She has been providing tours for many years. What especially impressed me was how well she handled my many specific - and sometimes fairly obscure - questions about the architecture and construction of the Acropolis. I was particularly interested in things such as the column drums, lifting bosses, restoration work, the Propylaia, the Erechtheion and Caryatids, and how to distinguish original ancient material from later reconstruction. Vicky was able to answer these questions thoughtfully and in detail rather than simply sticking to a standard tour presentation. (Ask here what is between the column drums!) The tour actually prompted us to continue researching and discussing many of these subjects afterward, which says a great deal about how interesting she made the experience. She gave us a much better understanding not only of the history of the Acropolis, but also of how these extraordinary buildings were constructed, altered, damaged, and restored over the centuries. Vicky was warm, personable, and easy to talk with throughout the tour. She struck a great balance between providing a tremendous amount of information and keeping the experience conversational and enjoyable. We would highly recommend this tour, and particularly Vicky, to anyone who wants to go beyond simply seeing the Acropolis and really understand what they are looking at.

It was an amazing tour with a very knowledgeable tour guide who was very friendly and kind. It was a pleasure to have Vicky as my guide. She made the experience fun and I learned so much history from her.
Vickie was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable, relatable with a sense of humor and answered our questions as soon as they came into our minds. Would highly recommend the tour!!
Betty was an awesome guide. Very knowledgeable and considerate of slower people in the group. Highly recommend!
It really helps make the visit easier and more enjoyable. Very helpful to have knowledgeable guide. Guide was very informative and helpful.
Three weeks of excursions through Italy and Greece and hands down, this was the best. Vicky was very knowledgeable, spoke great English, covered a ton of information in a way that we didn't feel overwhelmed and was just fun to be with. Absolutely, go as early in the day as you can to limit the crowds. We met her at 08:00 am and were really glad it wasn't any later. Pro Tip: they limit the number of folks on the Acropolis, doing it on your own you may not have access to tickets. My wife has been telling folks she meets here in Athens how great this was. Highly highly recommend
Booked the private Acropolis tour and it was a highlight of our time in Athens. Skipping the line made the whole afternoon easier as well, and Eva brought the history to life, kept it fun and informative. She also took really awesome photos of my wife and I. Great pacing, plenty of time for photos, and happy to answer every question. Well worth it. Highly recommend, you wont regret this tour
Very detailed and informative. Our guide did a good job explaining everything about the Acropolis and answered our questions.
Betty was INCREDIBLE! She got there early so we were first in line, first into the Acropolis. Betty started giving us the background on how the Acropolis came to be while we waited for it to open, and kept providing more new (and interesting) details the entire time. She answered all our questions, prompted us to take pictures (which we would have forgotten to take because we were so engaged with her tour - and they all came out perfect!), and went at a lovely pace. The time flew by and we wished we had booked for her to take us through the museum, too, so we could have had more time with Betty’s extensive knowledge. At the end, she recommended an alternate path down towards Plaka through a pocket of a Cycladic-style neighborhood for coffee and it was so charming. Can’t recommend her and this tour enough - we felt so lucky!! Highly recommend getting the admission included, a private tour, and going for the first entrance. It is worth the extra money!! It was nothing short of magical watching the light change on the limestone and marble as our tour progressed. We had lots of space to get close and stand away from each of the structures given it was less crowded. By the time we left around 10am, it was an absolute madhouse (and getting pretty warm).
Excellent knowledgable guide who was a pleasure to spend the morning with. She had us first in line to enter.
Our tour guide Eva was absolutely phenomenal! From start to finish, the experience exceeded all our expectations. She was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, engaging, and passionate about the history and culture of the area. She brought every place we visited to life with fascinating stories and insights that we never would have discovered on our own. Truly one of the best tour guides we have ever had, and we cannot recommend this company, run by David highly enough. Five stars simply aren't enough
Betty was absolutely amazing!! She was so knowledgeable and taught us both so much about Athens and the Acropolis area. She was also super understanding with my back issues and my need to go slower and sit often. She made sure to take us to places where she knew I could sit to tell us all about the history. It was 100% worth it to have a guide all to our selves and be able to tuck into smaller, quiter areas to chat.
The Acropolis is a must see. We can’t tell you the best way to see it, but we chose a private guide for this once -in-a-lifetime experience. The group tours we saw were large and would have made us move through the site without the luxury of going at our own pace. Our guide was wonderful. Our only (minor) complaint was this was very pricey and no, we didn’t skip the line. We did have tickets for 8 am, so once the sote, opened, we emtered fairly quickly with a 30 minute wait in line. Get there early as the line gets long very quickly.
Take a hiking stick if you have sight impairment or balance issues. The terrain is uneven & slippery in parts.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned so much history. The evening tour was amazing and the weather was perfect.
Great guide. She was very informative
Wonderful experience with our guide Betty! It made our visit so much richer and we could practically see what the Acropolis looked liked and how it came to be through her descriptions. Highly recommended!
My guide, Lisa, was tremendously knowledgeable and helpful. She provided a pleasant experience for me.
We had an amazing tour with Vasslilis who was Informative , knowledgable , helpful and understanding… The tour was a journey from the start and to modern day of the Acropolis and its temples and I would very highly recommend Vissalis as a memorable part of any trip to Athens
The tour went smoothly, but seemed a little short in length. The guide met us at the designated location, just outside the Acropolis. She provided us with earpieces, which helped us hear over the noise. The guide was very nice and knowledgeable. If I were to do it again, I'd find a tour that was longer in length and covered more details. After the tour finished, we spent more time exploring on our own, had lunch, and visited the Acropolis Museum on our own. The price did not include admission to the museum.
Eva was exceptional. Her knowledge and passion for Greece and the history were amazing. We learned so much. Definitely recommend.
What an experience this was. I would highly recommend. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave a great tour. Bring a hat and water!!!
Group of 6 did the 8am Acropolis tour with Betty as our guide. Super easy meeting place. We started our tour outside with the history of the museum, houses that line the area, and how to distinguish the different eras of the Acropolis. Entry into the Acropolis was all handled by Betty. Once in the history and details provided by Betty were fantastic. What was awesome was getting so much information on Athens history and sites not just inside the Acropolis, but the surrounding area as well. As the person who booked the tour for the group, let me just say I was very relived with how everyone in our group commented how awesome the tour was. We all said there was just no way touring the site on our own we get even 10% of what we learned from Betty. I had to do some selling to take the 8AM skip the line private tour to our group, but seeing the lines and the madness growing even at 9:45 made us realize it was the absolute best way to experience this awesome site. Overall, great guide , great experience , highly recommend and I cannot stress enough do the 8 Am tour.
The private tour is undoubtedly the best option, but unfortunately, on the day we visited, even our private tour guide couldn’t provide us with a standout experience due to a system outage. Although this caused a delay in our entry to the Acropolis, our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed our time together. We learned a lot and had a fantastic time. Since we visited in early July, I advise you to bring a hat as the weather was extremely hot. Overall, I highly recommend the private tour.
My guide was fantastic. She was knowledgeable and was able to bring her experience as a researcher and scholar into the tour. I enjoyed the time and experience.
A must do! Our guide was quite knowledgeable about the Acropolis & Parthenon. She made the tour interesting & enjoyable.
Lisa was an absolutely wonderful guide for our Acropolis and Acropolis Museum tour. She was warm, kind, and incredibly patient, making the experience enjoyable for everyone in our group. She shared fascinating historical facts and stories at just the right pace—never overwhelming us with too much information, but highlighting the details that made the sites truly come alive. She was especially thoughtful with my mom, who walks slowly, making sure we never felt rushed and always keeping the group together. One of the things we appreciated most was that she took beautiful photos of our family throughout the tour without us even having to ask, allowing us to stay present and enjoy the experience. Lisa’s passion for Greek history was evident, and she answered every question with enthusiasm and knowledge. Thanks to her, our visit to the Acropolis and museum was memorable, educational, and one of the highlights of our trip to Athens. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, personable, and caring guide!
Mariza was a great guide for our Acropolis tour. 5:30pm was the perfect time slot to take in golden hour. Mariza shared lots of information and history and kept our kids engaged. She was very sweet. Thank you Mariza.
This was amazing!! The tour leader Vicky had so much knowledge of all things Athens. I’m so glad we booked this tour. Again….AMAZING!!
Harule was great and a very knowledgeable guide. It was great that we could go at our own pace. Highly recommend!
Fantastic guide and extremely knowledgeable! She brought us in front of the line, moved past people and knew exactly where to go to get the best views and best photos!
Becky was great and very knowledgeable! We had a friend who had lung surgery 2 years ago, we had to stop frequently so he could catch his breath. I forgot to mention that before hand. She was very accommodating.
We had a wonderful experience with our tour guide, Michail. Michail was very knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous. We highly recommend Michail’s tour.
Michael was amazing and the tour was perfect for us! We enjoyed our time so much and learned so much in a perfect amount of time.
Evie was a great guide and took her time answering all our questions and allowed us to experience the acropolis at a pace that was comfortable. Our group ranged from 10 years Old to 85 years old and found this was an informative way to experience the acropolis
This was the best tour EVER! One of the highlights of our week in Greece! We went to the Acropolis and the Ancient Agora. Our tour guide, Michael, was absolutely fantastic. Michael was incredibly knowledgeable-and hilarious!! As a history buff, I love learning the details, but I know history can feel dry for some people. Not with Michael! He brought the stories to life, kept us engaged the entire time, and had us laughing throughout the tour. We had so much fun getting to know him while learning about Greece’s rich history. I’ve been on several private tours throughout Europe, and this was by far my favorite-largely because of Michael. If you’re visiting Athens, do yourself a favor and book this tour with Michael. You won’t be disappointed!
Eva was an incredibly knowledgeable, warm, thoughtful and personable guide who made our tour perfect. Her passion for the history of this incredible place, culture and society makes the experience all the better. It’s the cliche but the history comes alive with tour guides of this quality. Cannot recommend this tour highly enough.
This was one of the best tours we had. We have done many tours and it was fantastic. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and did and amazing job and sharing wonderful details with us. He was very kind and patient with our children. He very passionate about this area of history and it shows which translates to a wonderful tour. It makes the tour so enjoyable and made it fly by.
This tour was wonderful. Our guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. He was genuinely great with the kids and patient in explaining what we were seeing to them and its meaning. It was worthwhile experience for all. I can’t recommend it enough. And the guide was just wonderful.
We had an amazing experience with our private tour guide at the Acropolis in Athens! She was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about sharing the rich history of this remarkable site. She took the time to answer all of our questions thoroughly and made the history come alive with her detailed explanations and engaging storytelling. Her expertise, professionalism, and friendly demeanor made the tour both educational and enjoyable. We learned so much more than we ever could have on our own. If you’re visiting Athens and want a truly memorable experience at the Acropolis, I highly recommend this guide. She was outstanding!
Excellent tour! Our licensed guide Komissa was extremely knowledgeable, friendly & engaging. We booked this tour with WarmPenguin via Viator at the last minute after difficulties dealing with an individual/independent guide. WarmPenguin’s communication was excellent & timely - they delivered exactly what we wanted - private tour with skip the line tickets (I.e, tour company purchased tickets in advance for us) to the Acropolis & the Agora with a wonderful licensed guide. Highly recommend!
Vicki gave us an amazing private tour. I would highly recommend her! The pace and information were perfect!
We had an amazing time and Petros was absolutely incredible. We had so much fun, Good conversation and he was very knowledgeable about the history. He came well prepared with pictures and recommendations
Our tour of the Acropolis was fantastic. This is one of the most important places in human history and it’s a must to visit if you are in Athens. Our guide, Becky, was amazing. She was friendly, knowledgeable and fun. Having a guide and skipping the line took all the stress out of planning and allowed us to totally enjoy this amazing site. Pro tip, it gets hot and crowded in the afternoon. If you can go early go early. We started at 7:30am and it was perfect.
