I highly recommend ATHENS WALKS tours. Annie our guide was beyond our expectations! She was so passionate about mythology of the history of the time period, that when she told us the stories of what had happened, you felt like you were there, and you understood everything. It was like she was bring us back in time. We were at the temple of Athena and she had put her hands up in the air to demonstrate how the people would worship Athena and then all of a sudden there was such a load roll of thunder right above us, and it took our breath away. It was almost like the gods were listening to her and showed us that they were there. It was the most breath taking tour I have ever taken. Thank you, Annie
Great tour and great information passed along. I had seen the Acropolis by myself previously, but my bride had not and opted for a guided tour. The tour was perfect for what we wanted. It wasn't super deep into history, but got great insight into what the Acropolis has to offer. Tour was professional and efficient. Well worth the money, and I'd do it again!
Yannis was the best! He was knowledgeable, funny and did a good job of taking care and listening to our entire group!
Our group was small., about 14 people and the meeting location was easy to find. Our tour guide was amazing! Very knowledgeable and funny as well! He was ver engaging and made the pace slower for us “older” folks. He shared so much information but added funny details that kept us engaged. I would totally recommend this tour to anyone visiting Athens!
Our tour guide Wilma was excellent as was the tour of the Acropolis. we all agreed it was our favorite tour
Michael G is the guide you want to have. Spoke clearly, very knowledgeable and tells some jokes along the tour. He answered all our questions and told us stories that explains the myth and reality Thank You Michael!!.
very knowledgeable tour guide (Annie) had lots of information and history for the Acropolis and the museum. the pace was very good - right amount of walking before a stop or sit to observe and listen.
It was an incredible day, although there were too many people and it was very hot, otherwise everything went perfectly.Thank you very much 😊
Very informative, considerate and engaging tour by a knowledgeable, both academically and culturally, local young woman positively passionate about her home country Greece.
Having Jonas was invaluable, there is so much to take in that it would be nowhere near the experience without his guidance and knowledge.
John the Archeologist was such a fantastic tour guide. We learned so much about the Acropolis. He leads a great tour. It’s tiring to hike up to the top, but John took many stops along the way where we could sit and he taught us. Wear hiking shoes or good gym shoes. Hat and water are a must.
Don’t waste your time and money. Pay for a guide it makes all the difference. We had Elizabeth who was amazing. She made everything interesting. I was worried it would be boring looking at old rocks, but she made them come alive. The tour of the museum was over the top. A guide in the museum may be even more beneficial. Thank you
Fabulous tour this morning with our exceptionally knowledgeable guide Vangelis - his passion for archaeology and Athens shone through
It was fantastic and the tour company were so helpful! The guide was an absolute expert and could explain everything clearly and kept us engaged throughout.
Often difficult to hear the guide well. Partly the system, partly her pronunciation of words. Also interference from other groups nearby.,I also misssd more lively presentations with stories around the mythology of the time. Now it was not more just data; name of temple, yr built etc I would rather bought my own self guided tour , walk on my own pace. Now half the time went on to moving thru crowds, or wait for group.
Amazing tour! Everything we hoped for and more. Yiannis was wonderful, knowledgeable, and entertaining. I can't imagine doing Acropolis hill and the Parthenon without him. Adding the optional museum brought everything full circle. Recommend 100%. Don't let the description scare you.
Arrive early to avoid the crowds from the tour buses and the heat of the day. Wear comfortable shoes
This was great informative and fun tour. Our tour guide Michael G was fantastic! Michael brought the history of the Acropolis alive and kept you interested! Highly recommend!
Katarina was an excellent guide. We really appreciated her depth of knowledge and her sense of humor. Very glad we did both the acropolis and the museum.
Selene was a wonderful guide. She brings history to life as she guides you through the Acropolis and museum.
Great way to experience the Acropolis of Athens and the museum! Michael G. was very knowledgeable and engaging. He really brought to life the story of the Acropolis. The pace was perfect with enough time at each place to see the sights and rest when needed. His commitment to finding shade was appreciated!
Excellent tour of both the Acropolis and the Museum. Michael G was very knowledgeable and professional. His knowledge and humor added to the tour to make us fully understand what we were seeing. Highly recommend!
The company is efficient and on time. Our guide, Petros was incredible - he was knowledgeable, engaging, spoke wonderful English, and generally made the tour informative and fun. Thank you Petros!!
It is a fair bit of walking, but worth it! Our guide Anastasia was brilliant, so knowledgeable and excellent at presenting. Wonderful!
Elizabeth was very good and so informative! I would definately reccommend taking a tour for the Acropolis.
I highly recommend the Acropolis Museum, Parthenon, and Acropolis Walking Tour. Our guide, Victor, was knowledgeable, personable, and made our four-hour walking tour informational and delightful. I do recommend going early in the morning as the heat and crowds intensify into the afternoon.
Excellent tour. Nick, our guide, was very knowledgeable & did a great job explaining the history & archeological significance of the Acropolis. He was excellent
Well worth it! So interesting to learn about the history! Our guide was knowledgeable, informative and interesting
Our tour guide Galeta was incredible!! She was a wealth of information
Excellent excursion. Guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend this tour for anyone wishing to see the Acropolis and Partheon with the Skip the Line admission to the museum.
Our guide Galatia was super knowledgeable. She had a real passion for the job. 10/10 would recommend.
Elizabeth was a 10/10 tour guide! She was super knowledgeable and made the tour so amazing! We learned so much and the sights were unbelievable
It was a great way to see tha Acropolis and Parthenon in a reasonable amount of time. Our guide was wonderful.
I booked a guided tour for my husband and I to make sure we weren’t walking around aimlessly. We booked the perfect tour for the day with John the Archeologist who was brilliant. He provided such insightful information, explained the history of Greece through a tour of the museum. After that we went to the Parthenon and other sights. We found John to be fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed our tour. We would recommend anyone considering a tour book. It was well worth it and he was a great photographer!
The tour was great, KiKi our guide was amazing! Great pace, very informative. Walking pace was very comfortable as we stopped to see sites on the way up to the Acropolis!
We enjoyed our tour of the Acropolis and Pantheon and the Acropolis museum. It was informative and well done, in particular the museum guide.
What a full thorough experience visiting the Acropolis surrounding areas in the museum. We learned so much, and it was so interesting, our tour guide Faye was excellent- well spoken, knowledgeable, engaging, she made learning fun! We were exhausted because it was a lot of standing but very much worth it!
The tour was well organized, and the guide was friendly and pleasant. However, the information provided during the Acropolis portion of the tour was quite basic. The guide mentioned the 5th century BC but did not explain the historical context, such as what happened before, during, or after this period. The guide pointed out the ruins and gave brief explanations of what they were, but offered little in the way of deeper insights or lesser-known details that would make the experience of having a guide truly worthwhile. For example, at the Theater of Dionysus, the guide explained the ruins and mentioned that male actors wore masks (a practice also common in other cultures) and briefly discussed the role of sponsors in theatrical performances. In my opinion, this was the bare minimum of information one would expect. By contrast, I overheard another guide sharing much more fascinating details, such as a ritual performed to bless a play and how audiences could throw food at actors if they disliked a performance, as a bad play was considered an insult to Dionysus. The museum part of the tour is better, but did not make up for the other 3 hours at the Acropolis. Overall, while the tour was smoothly organized and the guide was friendly, I expected more historical context, engaging storytelling, and unique insights that would make the experience more enriching and justify having a guide.
Very knowledgeable. Sometimes hard to hear and understand but she did a great job. Thank you!!!!!!!!
John The Excavationer (?) was incredible. One of the best we’ve ever had … period. Enthusiastic and his knowledge and his communication skills were phenomenal. Not to mention entertaining. I can’t tell you how many times we chuckled and found ourselves laughing out loud. He’s a keeper. We highly recommend. We will be back.
This was an amazing tour and our guide was outstanding! The entire staff was so attentive and when my father was not feeling well after the tour - they took complete care of us. I recommend highly!
It was an excellent tour. However the walking is a bit tricky for anybody with even slight mobility issues. Our guide. Elizabeth was the best guide we have ever had anywhere!. Her knowledge was incredible and her delivery in terms of language skills ,accent and personality was excellent.
Extremely disappointing experience for visitors with disabilities. We traveled to Athens mainly to visit the Acropolis, as I am 100% disabled. Upon arrival, we were told that the elevator for disabled persons was completely out of order. To make matters worse, despite official guidelines stating that a disability card grants free entry for the disabled visitor and an accompanying person, the staff at the entrance insisted we had to buy regular tickets anyway. Completely inaccessible, poor communication, and incorrect information regarding entry rules. Be very careful before planning a visit here if you rely on accessibility features!
My tour guide called Annie was very nice and explained everything very detailed and nice. When we hiked up she was very nice to everyone and tried not to be boring. The guide was so fun and amazing. Hope I can use it again! - Walla (I’m using my moms account)
Michael was very knowledgeable on the history of Acropolis and Greece overall. The tour ascended the south side with many stops along the way. Michael explained everything we were seeing and the time periods these were developing. Michael did a great job making the tour interesting. We stayed on for the museum tour which was also interesting. Michael was able to tie together the Acropolis with what we were seeing bthe museum
Both my wife and I said touring the Acropolis/Parthenon was so much more interesting and easier with a guide, especially with the excellent, knowledgeable Aigli! She fashioned the tour to avoid the most crowded areas and times and gave us expert insight to what we were seeing. We did not dawdle as there was much to see. Comfortable shoes are a must and the supplied audio assistance ear phones helped immensely. There were opportunities for breaks.
I really enjoyed the Acropolis and Museum tour with Artemis. She was an engaging and informative guide. Would recommend.
Our tour guide Agili was amazing, knowledgeable, and passionate about the sights we saw. It was clear she has a love for Greece and history, and a desire to share that with others. The tour was great but BE WARNED — the Acropolis is somewhat treacherous and easy to slip and fall (we saw someone do so and break her nose). This tour/visit is not ideal for seniors/people who have trouble with balance or walking.
I definitely recommend going with a guide to understand the site and get the best from your visit. Then spend some time by your self just taking in the scenery.
