Itinerary
The Propylaea: Celebrated as the most impressive structure of classical Athens, the Propylaea, the majestic entranceway to the hill, invites you to take a leap into the Golden Age of Athens and walk in the shoes of legendary personalities, such as Socrates, whose stories still excite our imagination. The Parthenon: The Parthenon is the perfect embodiment of the aesthetics and ideals of classical Athens. Listen to the stories about the great minds who envisioned and constructed the temple and learn about the optical illusions that brilliantly fiddle with the viewer’s perception. Start your visit with the Acropolis Hill at the selected time slot and then visit the Acropolis Museum at your own pace during its operating hours.
The Archaic Acropolis Gallery: Experience the riveting journey of the city’s transition to democracy as you admire the exhibits of the Archaic Gallery. Weaving around monsters, heroes, gods and iconic representations of the human body, you’ll follow the evolution of ancient art fueled by an exciting storytelling concept. The Parthenon Gallery: Continuing to the next floor, in the Parthenon Gallery, you’ll get straight into the heart of the Parthenon and see the narrative of the Panathenaic Procession, pieced together on the frieze of the temple, coming alive. Engrossing tales from Greek Mythology depicted on the metopes and pediments of the temple, such as the birth of goddess Athena and the battle of the Centaurs, will fire up your imagination.

I had trouble with the tickets. The tickets are downloaded but where are they downloaded to? We were finally able to figure it out.
Although we did appreciate the guided tours (lots of stories about the Gods and the myth stories), we had a difficult time finding what they were talking about. The location descriptions were vague. We gave up listening fairly quickly and just read the informational signs. We didn’t even bother at the Museum. Next time I would just buy entrance tickets. Although it looks like a long steep climb it is surprisingly easy. Go at your own pace and you should be fine. Go as early as you can because it for really busy after 9:30. It was wonderful when we went in at 8am.
The Acropolis is amazing-just be sure to get skip the line tickets for an early entrance. The new museum is vast and very modern; however it does not have enough signage to help you through the exhibits. That said, both these attractions are worth the visit, but we will not be using Viator in the future to secure tickets or excursions. After paying a hefty price for skip the line tickets and audio guides for both the hill and the museum, we discovered that the two electronic tickets we received were identical-for the hill only. We did not receive tickets for the museum, EVEN THOUGH the tickets were labelled as such. In the end, we were obliged to pay an extra 40 Euros to enter the museum. We will be asking for a refund of our original payment to Viator, but based on our previous experience with this company, I expect to run into significant difficulty with this. Needless to say, after being twice burned, we will not be recommending Viator as a supplier of vacation excursions or tickets.
This company told us we had to book 11am as it was the only available ticket time. We booked 11am and received a confirmation email. 10:59 on the day of the ticket and I had still not been sent the tickets. After trying to call them I get a message back on web WhatsApp (which I don’t use). The tell me there were no 11am tickets and I need to go at 2pm. I’d been waiting in line already for 45 mins so had no choice but to accept and return to the back of the line. It took another hour before I received tickets. It was then too close to our other booking (ticket direct with the attraction) to attend properly at 2pm. The company refused to refund our entrance fee, despite not having redeemed or downloaded. I strongly suggest not touching this company.
It was a lot of information. Interesting stories. It was a bit hard to ensure we were in the right area because sometimes the stories were long. Loved the tour.
I reserved tickets for 11 am but wanted 10:00 am. Email said it was ok but the correct time did not appear on tickets. We had to wait 45 minutes. To gain entry Disappointing
Good details on the historic sites when there was bandwidth to pick up the transmissions. Some of the sound was drowned out by crowd noise.
We had a wonderful tour of the Acropolis and museum in Athens. The downloadable tickets and audio tour were very convenient. We absolutely enjoyed the tour. Highly recommend.
Great.....and of course be prepared for plenty of walking! Enjoyed all the architecture and museum!!
The Acropolis is clearly a fantastic site and having the information you presented added to the experience.
All tickets worked with no issues. Audio tour also worked with no problems. Tickets available to download the day before, so keep that in mind if you won’t have internet access.
It was very confusing a difficult getting our tickets. The tickets were not accessible until day before and we had no way print and internet an issued so downloading was issue. We ultimately had to stand in line and buy new tickets after all the confusion and downloading mishaps because we missed our time slot. We also could not access the audio tours. Not fool proof but an earlier delivery might have made a difference
This tour was convenient and amazing. I had previously booked another tour but was unable to find the tour guide. I was able to quickly scheduled this one for the same day and was pleasantly surprised. I got my tickets and instructions with ease. And was able to participate in the tour on my timing. I have already recommended this tour to other travelers. I have met on this trip. Athank you do much for saving me in a pinch.
Very hot. Damn near had a heat stroke. Long lines going up hill! Tickets didnt help at all. We were still in a long line in the heat. It did no good to buy ahead.
As a greek, I have visited Acropolis numerous times as a student and by my own, but this time I decided to go prepared and purchase my tickets beforehand. What makes this visit unique to my previous ones, is the audio guides that were included with my tickets. I usually didn't really pay attentions to historical information that was provided by the museum or from a live guide but the fascinating and intriguing stories are what made this visit a one to remeber. The app for the audio guide was easy to use and there was no problem to the ticket delivery, which is also a big plus.
It has always been a dream to visit the Acropolis. Despite the long Queue the experience was worth it. The audio tour was good, informative and interesting. Would definitely recommend this one.
My visit to Acropolis Hill and Acropolis Museum was absolutely unforgettable! The ticketing process was seamless, and the audio guides were a game-changer, providing fascinating insights. The museum's exhibits were beautifully presented, and the audio guides enhanced my understanding. Don't miss out on these iconic landmarks! Highly recommended for a remarkable experience in Athens.
I recommend going to the Acropolis Museum with a guide, and if the cost of a live person is a little beyond your reach, an audio tour is definitely the way to go. Each chapter of recordings will present an image. We found it best to pause the recordings until we located the piece that matches the subject, and then hit play. It requires a little extra effort/time to find the artifact, but it is the best way to optimize the tour. Of our group of 3, one person decided to explore the floor on her own while the other 2 used the audio tour. I recommend being prepared for frustration until you get the hang of the flow but its better than going to the acropolis museum without any explanation.
We were disappointing with the audio,we didn’t know how to used the app to hear the audio on our phones,so, we didn’t know what was going on with all the beautiful things that the museum have ,we try hard to found out how to used the audio, with no used ,very disappointed!!!
Great way to view the Acropolis Coliseum and Museum for a cheaper price than a long, boring guided tour. We went at our own pace and did not have to stop at every sight to hear a tour guide give a very long explanation. I kept seeing people on guided tours who were not paying attention, on their phones and not even keeping up walking with the group. Basically they were bored. The only issue we encountered is the software did not download on my husband's phone who has an Android but it worked on my I-phone. Internet signal is very weak and no wifi so be sure to download tickets and the audio beforehand. We didn't even bother to use the audio since my husband couldn't hear it. We just walked and read things on our own that had written material. The company agreed to give a partial refund since we didn't have full access to the audio. Also, be prepared to walk up a lot of hills, stairs, slippery rocks, marble, pebbles. The Acropolis Coliseum is not ADA friendly and not all that safe to get to the top. Once you arrive to the top, you cannot even enter the inside of the coliseum, can only walk around it. I think that's a total waste of walking so far in hot temperatures to not be able to go inside. Otherwise, it's still a good attraction and I'm glad we bought this self guided tour versus wasting a lot of money on a guided tour.
The audio tour was clear, interesting and informative. Well worth the expense. We downloaded it in advance, which worked great. It was a little puzzling how to skip the audio to our current location, but we figured it out. It would be better if we could easily skip the audio to our GPS location.
Well organized and audio guide was good as well. Would recommend this tour to family members and friends
Very efficient but not made clear in the beginning before purchase that tickets will need be downloaded on day before trip to Acropolis and museum and the need to download the apps to get those tickets and audio tour before you arrive to Greece. No problem once downloaded tickets. The audio tour unfortunately was too fast poor directions going from one exhibit to another. Very confusing and I could not follow the discussion well
I like the flexibility, doing these at my own pace. I found the directions hard to follow a few times. I would have preferred more architectural analysis. Other all pretty good.
We actually didn't really use the audio tour portion, but it was great skipping the line and gaining entrance. Plus, being able to listen to the tours after the fact was great too, then you can review them with your photos. One thing I wish the audio tours had was the ability to listen at different speeds, some of these narrators, while interesting, speak much slower than we walk, and being able to listen at a faster speed would be great!
This is a good purchase if you are tech savvy and/or can follow instructions very closely because after the purchase, you will need to download and access a couple of sites/apps to get the tickets and download the audio tour. Otherwise, it's a good buy.
A great, in depth audio accompaniment to a visit to the Acropolis. Sometimes, it was hard to be sure you are standing in the right place at the right moment, but otherwise very informative. We will listen to it again.
We didn't really need this because it RAINED BUCKETS when we went, but it was worth the money and I would do it again.
While we appreciated skipping the line, the audio tour did not work for one of us even though it said audio was available in the app. We listened for a bit together but ended up abandoning it altogether about 1/3 through. We both work in technology and are very savvy so want user error!
If you are vaccinated and have always wanted to see Greece, now is the time to go. Our tour of the Acropolis was amazing! No crowds! No lines! This tour allowed us to scan our phones and walk right in. The audio tour helps set the scene but we preferred to listen to it the night before and just wander peacefully through the ruins and absorb the history in silence. Silence in Greece!
Useful combination of tickets and additional info on the monuments. We wanted to be able to tour the Acropolis on our own and in our own pace and yet have some background as to where we were and what we were seeing and this ticked the boxes. Instructions were clear and downloading the app was very easy.
This was the low point of our trip to Athens. The guide is just taped information that you can play back. It was difficult for us to know what part of the guide we should be listening to around the site of the Acropolis which was where we really needed it. Based on our experience you are better off booking a tour with a real person.
This is a well planned tour. Loved the options of receiving a guide, but not tied to a group. Only word of caution I have, you can jump the line to buy the tickets with this, but you cannot jump the line to enter. The line to enter the site is the long line! If this was intended to allow skip the line for access, there aren’t any good signs on where to enter with e-tickets. We tagged along with a large organized group that bypassed the long line. Also, go early before the cruises arrive or late in the day after they leave.
